Oggi, questo edificio accoglie un museo completamente rinnovato, che restituisce voce e memoria alla vita quotidiana della Valposchiavo.Il nuovo allestimento di Casa Besta nasce da un percorso partecipativo che ha coinvolto la comunità locale, con il contributo di storici, artigiani ed esperti, e grazie al sostegno di fondazioni e del programma Interreg SconfiNati. Il museo si concentra su quattro temi che da sempre plasmano la storia e l'identità del territorio: il commercio transfrontaliero, l'agricoltura di montagna, l'artigianato tradizionale e, soprattutto, il contrabbando.Attraverso pannelli informativi, fotografie, oggetti d'epoca e contributi multimediali, il visitatore è accompagnato in un viaggio tra le storie di chi ha vissuto, lavorato – e spesso sfidato – il confine. In attesa dell'inaugurazione del nuovo Museo del Tabacco, che sorgerà a pochi passi da Casa Besta, la sezione dedicata a questo importante capitolo della storia di Brusio è stata momentaneamente smantellata. Un segno della volontà di valorizzare al meglio ogni aspetto della memoria locale.Completano il percorso museale due ambienti storici di grande fascino: la Sala del Consiglio, con il suo soffitto ligneo finemente decorato, e una saletta adiacente ornata da stucchi e dagli stemmi delle famiglie del posto.Casa Besta non è solo un museo, ma un punto d'incontro tra passato e presente, tra Svizzera e Italia, tra memoria e identità.
