Doug interviews Bryan Flanagan, a sales legend with an extraordinary journey from IBM to becoming a key figure at the Zig Ziglar Corporation. Bryan gives his advice on goal setting, sales ethics, and personal growth, drawing from his 14 years at IBM and 29 years working alongside Zig Ziglar himself. He also shares his experiences and knowledge about consistency, relationship building, and the balance between personal and professional goals. KEY TAKEAWAYS You cannot consistently perform in a manner inconsistent with how you see yourself - this fundamental principle transformed Bryan's career from a struggling salesman to a successful trainer. Goal setting requires evaluating both benefits and obstacles, if the obstacles outweigh the benefits, you need to find more benefits or reconsider the goal's viability. Personal growth must come before professional growth, investing in yourself and maintaining intentionality in daily goals is crucial for long term success. The intent behind your technique determines your ethics, and understanding this principle helps maintain professionalism and integrity in sales. Successful goal achievement requires involving and communicating with all stakeholders, especially family members who will be impacted by your pursuit. The POGO system (Person, Organisation/Occupation, Goals, Obstacles) provides a structured approach to building meaningful business relationships. Real selling is about relationships, not just digital interactions. Modern sales professionals need to balance traditional relationship building skills with new technology. Setting realistic deadlines is crucial, understanding your obstacles and required skills also helps establish achievable timelines for your goals. BEST MOMENTS "You cannot consistently perform in a manner that's inconsistent with the way you see yourself. You can't perform here if you continue to see yourself here." "If you don't set goals, somebody will set them for you. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off our goal." "My job is to make salespeople more dangerous than they are right now but in a very integrity based way." "I teach what I have to learn. I teach what I need to learn the most." "You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want." Mindful Leadership and The Global Sales Leader hosted By - Jasoncooper.io Sales Training Coach
Be good, be a good person, base your reputation on your integrity - lessons learnt by Zig Ziglar - being a good human pays off as a human. Being constant as every interaction is a standard that you can adhere to - So if you can model yourself on excellent and make it your own, taking the major assets being congruent with your own self-image. Be your own self look at others but don't be like them. If the principle is true and put your own values -then they work for you. Two factors in success are ego drive and empathy. You have to be connected to people; nothing has changed over the years in how and what we do equals success. We are still in the people business. We are still helping somebody; no product is sold, helping others get what they want. Learn your profession respect your profession - Be a constant learner -Get your passion and be accountable and replace bad habits with a good one. Confirm the needs in the customer's mind is a massive tip - slow down the need, and the customer is receptive to the need. About Bryan began his career with 14 years of extensive experience with IBM as a super salesman, a “people” manager, and a sales instructor at IBM's national training centre. Then, in 1984, Bryan joined the Zig Ziglar Corporation. He delivered Training and Coaching for over 25 years, working with various companies, industries, and clients. Bryan designs and delivers training programs that improve the team and individual productivity and growth. He has authored numerous training programs, including 3 sales books. For the past three decades, He's been honoured to help salespeople learn their profession among countless industries across the globe. After 3,628,807 miles, 4,670 engagements, and training over 745,144 professionals, I still believe that anyone can learn to sell armed with the right skills and attitude. www.flanagantraining.com, email me at: bryan@flanagantraining.com that you can sell more, make more, and reach your business growth goals.

How can you raise your deserve level and build your confidence level, and how you can firstly build your people level. Zig Ziglar helped and mentored Bryan when he was at his organisation for -over 26 years - you need to put your talent ahead of your passion; you have to have your ability to communicate your passion. One of the biggest steps is selling is a process, not a personality - as we know, selling isn't telling. It's a process to understand the other person -Lead with need and not yourself. One of the biggest things is the process takes the pressure off the person, and these steps are in Bryans books - lets the Now go and sell something - So You're new to sales. Confirm the needs in the customer's mind is a massive tip - slow down the need, and the customer is receptive to the need. Functional Medicine Practice: What You Will Learn: Bryan's journey to sales mastery and coaching What it means to be an “accidental” salesperson Why we need to be able to sell regardless of our profession or position in an organization Conveying functionality vs. conveying value The four steps of growth in sales How to be successful at sales, even if you aren't a natural How to peel back the layers so you can get to the core of what your patient is trying to achieve What steps you can take to start building out your sales and communication process How to put your talent ahead of your passion Good questions to ask prospective patients in a functional medicine practice to build trust Selling in the Functional Medicine Field A good sales strategy is just as important as the services you provide. It is the key to building a seven-figure functional medicine practice where you can help tens of thousands of chronically ill patients return to health. We didn't have a solid strategy at first, but we sought out expert advice from people who had mastery in areas we did not—that has been critical to our success since day one. We brought Bryan Flanagan on the show to give us a deeper look into the sales tactics and techniques that generate tons of revenue for FM practitioners across the globe. In this episode, Bryan teaches us how to excel at sales, even if it doesn't come naturally. He walks us through different tactics that will bring more value to prospects and patients so we can grow our practices. Everyone Has to Sell Bryan Flanagan is one of the top sales trainers in the United States, and he has helped professionals level up their game for nearly fifty years. He understands that sales is not intuitive for many people, especially in a functional medicine practice. But whether you want to be a professional salesperson or not, you still have to be a professional who can sell! Sales teams are not entire organizations, but entire organizations are sales teams because there is not one person who can't cost that company a sale. In the professional services industry, we often devalue that, ignoring the dire necessity to market ourselves and influence people. Functionality vs. Value It takes great skill to run a functional medicine practice, but different patients have completely different needs. Just because you are conveying the skill and functionality of what you do does not mean you are conveying the value of what you do—that is where many FM providers miss the mark. We don't have to like everything about selling to be outrageously successful at it, and we don't even have to be naturally good at it. As long as you are willing and able to learn the right techniques, you can bring more value to your clients and teach others in your organization how to do the same. It will help you align what your functional medicine practice offers with what your patients want, and that is a foolproof recipe for growth. About Bryan Flanagan Bryan Flanagan has lived a great life. It continues to be an unbelievable journey. He was lucky to have been born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. What a great environment to be raised. Loving parents. Solid family with an older brother and sister who supported him in all endeavors. Playing basketball at LSU. Went on to work with IBM. Invested 32 years with Zig Ziglar. And best of all, Bryan married his bucket list. They were actually married on Friday, 13. Luckiest guy in the world. Cyndi is everything to him and his two children. Bryan's family is all that he ever imagined and certainly more than he deserves. And, he was lucky enough to become a salesman. How that happened, well, you'll have to attend his training programs to find out. But, it was a great journey. Bryan, like many of you, is an ‘accidental salesperson.' He had a tough time learning to sell. That didn't mean he didn't sell a lot: he did sell a lot. He sold his furniture, he sold his car…However, he's glad he went through that challenging journey. Why? Because he has a better understanding of how to help salespeople who really want to succeed in sales but have yet to get it all together. That is the value Bryan's clients find beneficial. He understands the tactical side of effective selling. The same is true about learning to become an effective speaker. Prior to investing in improving my presentation skills, Bryan couldn't lead a group in silent prayer! He had to learn to master the skills so that he now actually enjoys delivering his presentations. He is confident he can help you do the same. Join them in their workshops and seminars. You'll learn a few things, meet great people, and (this he guarantees) you'll enjoy yourself. ITS AN HONOR TO BE INVITED - but I have no illusions, just big shadows to stand in. There are experts, gurus, celebrities, household names, well known names, up & coming names and even “wanna be's” in my space. By space I mean those who speak professionally especially in the areas of leadership and personal development. Everyday another person raises their hand and says “I want to be a public speaker!” In fact Steve Sieboldsays new public speakers emerge at a rate of 50,000 per year. When I joined the John Maxwell Team as a Founding Partner in 2011, I had no idea the caliber of people I would meet and become friends with. People who have spoken all over the world to millions of people, acted in major blocked buster motion pictures like Glenn Morshower and people who have literally changed the world with their wit and wisdom like Zig Ziglar and Bryan Flanagan. I am humbled by the magnitude of the opportunity to stand in the front of a small and intimate group of people who gather to honor each other and a tradition started when I was still in diapers. This event Monday is free and open to the public and you are welcome to join us if you are in the DFW area. Laurie Magers and Tom Ziglar would welcome you with open and loving arms.
