Dave Anderson, a broadcasting industry veteran who has shared the microphone with legends like Charlemagne, brings his wealth of experience to our latest episode of "Escaping the Drift." Join us as we explore the fervent sports culture of Philadelphia, where loyalty and confrontation go hand in hand. Dave takes us down memory lane with stories that capture the city's gritty spirit, from the notorious jail in the old Veterans Stadium to its relentless quest for respect. Our conversation paints a vivid picture of a city characterized by resilience and passionate devotion, offering insights into what makes Philly fans uniquely formidable.   We then shift the conversation to the steadfast nature of traditional radio in the digital age, highlighting its unmatched local charm and reliability during emergencies. Drawing on personal career journeys, we discuss the courage needed to transition from conventional roles to entrepreneurial paths, emphasizing the importance of adaptability and self-awareness. Sales skills come under the spotlight, as we share anecdotes from our early careers that demonstrate the art of building genuine relationships. We also critique the often detrimental influence of "alpha sales gurus," advocating instead for sincerity and authenticity in client interactions.   Wrapping up, we delve into strategies for effective sales calls, underscoring the importance of preparation and respect for the client's time. Positive energy emerges as a crucial ingredient for success, with belief in one's product and self being key drivers of achievement. As we navigate the themes of perspective and support networks, we reinforce the value of diversity in thought and strategy. Ultimately, we conclude that sales is less about products and more about creating real human connections, urging listeners to celebrate the irreplaceable human element in all sales endeavors.   CHAPTERS    (00:00) - Escaping the Drift With Dave Anderson (09:23) - Radio's Resilience and Transition to Sales (14:10) - Building Relationships in Sales and Publishing (23:51) - Rejecting Alpha Sales Gurus (27:47) - Effective Sales Call Strategies (35:37) - Positive Energy and Sales Success (43:10) - Choosing Your Perspective and Circle (46:25) - Embrace Diversity in Sales Success (53:20) - Sales Is About Real Connections

Sales Mastery & The Infinite Game with David Weiss Episode Summary:  David Weiss explores the mindset, habits, and strategies that set top sales professionals apart. From intentional career development to enterprise sales best practices, David shares invaluable insights for sales leaders and professionals looking to elevate their game. Recorded: August 2020 Key Takeaways: The Path to Sales Success: David's journey into sales highlighted the importance of intentionality and learning from early failures. His experience underscored the necessity of structured training and development in sales. Sales as a Professional Sport: Treating a sales career like that of a professional athlete, dedicating time to practice, continuous learning, and skill refinement, is crucial for sustained success. Breaking Sales Stereotypes: Sales is often misunderstood as an “expensive dark art.” Leaders must see beyond outdated perceptions and recognize the value of structured, professional selling. The Power of Mentorship: Learning from great leaders, and understanding the lessons from ineffective ones, can shape a successful sales career. David shares impactful mentorship experiences that influenced his growth. Business Acumen for Sales Success: Sales leaders must ensure their teams understand finance, operations, marketing, and legal aspects to be effective beyond just the sales process. Customer-Centric Selling: Sales isn't the start or end of the customer journey, it's a part of a broader experience. Leaders should foster a customer-first mindset across the organization. Effective Sales Onboarding: The best onboarding programs prioritize organizational understanding, relationship-building, and the sales process before diving into product knowledge. Enterprise Sales Mastery: Success in enterprise sales requires experience in internal negotiations, multi-threading, stakeholder management, and long sales cycles. Recruiting Top Enterprise Sales Talent: Hiring should focus on candidates with extensive enterprise experience or deep domain expertise. Key attributes include curiosity, relationship-building, and a willingness to challenge the status quo. The Habits of High-Performing Salespeople: Self-motivation, thorough research, problem-solving, planning, and organization are critical to sales excellence. The Daily Discipline of Prospecting: Even with large deals in progress, maintaining account coverage and prospecting daily prevents commoditization. Predicting Sales Success Early: The first 30-60 days of a new hire often indicate future success. Engagement, learning, and pipeline-building should be closely monitored. Always Be Recruiting: Sales leaders should proactively build a bench of candidates to avoid reactive hiring, as vacant sales roles are costly. Pre-Onboarding for Faster Ramp-Up: Sharing territory lists and facilitating early relationship-building can accelerate a new hire's productivity. Internal Alignment is Crucial: Enterprise sales success depends on preparation and alignment among all internal stakeholders. Sales should be treated like a well-rehearsed concert. Leveraging Partners for Success: Partners play a vital role in enterprise sales. Engaging them early and aligning with their goals enhances collaboration. The Infinite Game in Sales: A long-term mindset focused on relationships, brand-building, and collaboration leads to sustained success, rather than short-term wins. From Transactions to Relationships: The best salespeople prioritize lifetime customer value over one-off deals, genuinely seeking to help their clients. Managing the Challenges of a New Role: New sales hires should pace themselves, focus on incremental growth, and redefine what success looks like in the early days. The Role of Sales Managers: Managers must understand individual team members' needs and provide support in today's changing sales landscape. Structured 120-Day Onboarding: A well-planned onboarding roadmap should sequence learning appropriately, build foundational knowledge, and provide clear performance metrics. First Impressions Matter: New hires evaluate their organization and leaders early on. Providing strong support, feedback, and guidance is essential to retaining top talent. Effective Sales Leadership: Great sales managers hire strong talent, support their teams, and remove obstacles rather than micromanage or rescue struggling reps. Coaching Through Experience: Sales leaders should let reps lead customer meetings and learn through experience rather than taking over. Rethinking Traditional Marketing: Instead of ineffective traditional approaches, businesses should focus on a strong website aligned with customer pain points and leverage user-generated content. Self-mastery directly impacts your bottom line. In this episode, I compare two examples of sales calls to compare the difference that internal mastery makes in the efficacy of your pitch. In each scenario, I talk you through the three simultaneous thoughts a client needs to have if you want to convert a sales call into a purchased coaching offer. The very first person you have to know how to coach is you. You master your brain; you master your messaging. You do not need to follow a sales script. You don't have to pay for a marketing package. If you aren't successful on sales calls, it is because of something going on internally with you. Your emotions prevent you from moving that potential client into the pocket of belief. When you can effectively diagnose and treat what is happening in your brain, you can then diagnose what is happening with your client and offer them that treatment plan. You can't do that if you're in a fight, flight, freeze, or appease mode. If you are struggling with sales calls, this episode is for you. You aren't getting objections because your offer costs too much, or because your Canva image isn't good enough, or because you stumbled through a sales script. The problem is internal, and if you want to hit $100k, you have to master what is going on in your brain.Let's Connect: On Instagram On Facebook On LinkedIn On TikTok On my website

Click here and I will reach out to you!! https://elliott247.com/gameplan-yt Get My ETA+ Training App For FREE https://elliott247.com/eta-ml?el=YTeta – Andy Elliott covers what sales really is and how to be a true student of the craft. I've said this a lot during my time as a business owner Sales is everything that happens before the offer, closing is everything that happens after. So, if you can't even get to the offer 100% of the time (which is sales), then learning to close doesn't even matter. So make sure you got this skill down before you waste your time studying closing. -- If you don't know who I am, my name is Andy Elliott. I am the founder of The Elliott Group with my wife Jacqueline Elliott who is our CEO. Today, we have a 150 million dollar business, and we're on our way to a billion. If you don't believe you are qualified to have a big life...here is my story. At 18, I got into automotive sales and made a $1,700 commission on my first day. 19 years old, I made 225k in one year. 20 years old, I made my first 500k. The most I ever made before being promoted to a General Manager was 716k selling cars as a W-2 employee. As a GM, the most I made was 2.5 million in one year. In 2019 after 20+ years in the car business, my wife Jacqueline told me she learned to live without me and I decided I was built for more, was tired of settling and being "better than most" in all areas of life. God. Family. Physical. Mental. Business. I went PSYCHO in self development and totally re-created EVERYTHING in my life. Today, I live by example in everything that I do and my number one goal is to build the world's greatest leaders on planet Earth, and teach everyone how to sell, influence, and persuade, because NO money is ever made without sales. I see people everyday that have no idea what true potential is…well I do…And it's UNLIMITED! I am living proof of that! Imagine what your life would look like if you never had to worry about money again and your family was in a such a good place that if something ever happened to you they were taken care of because of the success you achieved and the person you became. If you want to make history and become a legend coaching with me, will make that happen guaranteed! I got your back for life, Andy Elliott

On this episode of The Sales Gravy Podcast, host Jeb Blount Jr. and guest Neil Cameron discuss the evolving landscape of B2B sales, focusing on how to adapt to millennial buyers, the importance of authenticity in digital sales, and strategies for building trust in the modern sales environment. Neil emphasizes the significance of understanding buyer psychology in today's digital age. Key Takeaways: – Shift from Traditional Sales to Digital Proficiency: The old sales model is broken. Sales professionals now need digital skills, especially in social media, AI, and data, to meet today's digital buyers. – Importance of a Digital Sales Strategy: Building an effective digital sales strategy requires orchestrating multiple online touch points to create a harmonious customer experience. – Customer-Driven Buying Process: Buyers today conduct independent research, with 68% of B2B buyers preferring self-research before engaging with sales reps, making the process buyer-centric. – Content as a Sales Beacon: Quality content acts like a lighthouse, guiding potential buyers in a vast digital landscape. Effective content marketing draws buyers by providing engaging, informative resources. – Data-Driven Sales as a Predictive Tool: Using data to understand buyer behavior is like detective work, piecing together clues to anticipate buyer needs, often before the buyer realizes them. – Psychology in Digital Sales: Neil's "Virtual Persuasion Engagement and Psychology Pyramid" uses psychological tactics like social proof, price anchoring, and loss aversion to influence buying decisions. – Millennials as Decision Makers: Millennials make up a significant portion of B2B decision-makers, expecting seamless digital interactions, self-service options, and freedom to research independently. – Purpose-Driven Purchasing: Millennial buyers value ethical, sustainable practices and prefer brands aligned with their values, impacting purchasing decisions. – Collaborative Decision-Making: Millennials consult multiple departments in decision-making, meaning sales teams must be ready to address diverse stakeholders' needs, from finance to IT. – Transparency and Authenticity: Millennials value transparency and avoid overly polished sales pitches. Honesty and authenticity help build trust, the cornerstone of successful digital sales. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BGqdWks3MX8 Adapting to a Digital Sales Era We are in an evolving sales landscape. Digital strategies are taking center stage and the need for adaptability has never been more crucial. As buyers increasingly turn to online research and self-guided journeys, traditional sales approaches are shifting. Modern sales professionals must adapt to engage a digital-savvy customer base effectively. It's important to use strategies, key frameworks, and new tools to empower sales teams and increase success in the digital age. The Buyer-Centric Revolution A primary shift in digital sales is the “buyer-centric revolution,” where customers are now more autonomous in their purchasing journey. According to recent research, 68% of B2B buyers prefer to conduct their own research online before contacting a sales representative. This independence has turned the traditional sales model on its head, as buyers seek information and reassurance without the pressure of a salesperson's guidance. Sales teams must be mindful of this shift, engaging only when the customer needs support, expertise, or guidance in making a final decision. The days of hand-holding through the buying process are largely over. They are replaced by a need for sharp, targeted interactions that add value at just the right moments. Content as a Cornerstone Content marketing has become a cornerstone of the modern sales strategy, as it functions as a “lighthouse” guiding buyers through a sea of online information. Brands with compelling, relevant content gain a distinct advantage in this new environment.
