Doug Bennett interviews Rohit Maini, an award-winning business leader and fellow podcast host. Rohit shares his approach to business, combining compliance work with consultancy that truly helps clients grow. He talks about how he creates a trust based environment for his clients, why holistic goal setting is important and why self-care is a necessity for entrepreneurs and business leaders. KEY TAKEAWAYS Rohit focuses on being a business growth partner rather than just handling compliance, actively helping clients with business strategy, acquisitions, and fundraising. Creating a relaxed, trust-based environment is central to effective client relationships; Rohit designs his office for comfort and conversation rather than formal meetings, allowing clients to openly share concerns and ambitions. Rohit's big hairy audacious goal is to make every SME in the world 1% better, recognising that the 5.5 million SMEs in the UK (99.8% of all companies) need greater support and representation on the global business stage. Effective goal setting must be holistic, connecting business targets to personal purpose; entrepreneurs should question the why behind numerical targets to ensure sustainable growth aligned with their true motivations. Small habit changes can trigger major lifestyle improvements, as Rohit discovered when a simple 30-minute morning walk created a cascade effect improving his mental clarity, work efficiency, eating habits, and overall motivation. Taking time for self-care isn't selfish but necessary. You can't give from an empty cup, and personal health enables better service to clients and family. Delegation is a critical skill for business growth, many entrepreneurs struggle with relinquishing control, but without delegating, they can't scale their business. Sharing both successes and challenges creates authentic connections, entrepreneurs should talk about their struggles alongside their highlight reels. BEST MOMENTS "We're certainly not stuffy accountants... We actually enjoy what we do, and we don't just file forms." "I see myself as someone who's trying to help the business grow into the next level, not just sort of file and be the tax guy." "For me it was that walk at 6 AM in the morning. It sounds a bit scary getting up that early, but to be honest with you, once you're out of your bed and you kind of walk, you kind of sleepwalk anyway." "None of us are that important. To be fair, there's only a few really important people out there in the world. They tend to be brain surgeons, I would imagine, right?" Doug talks about the complex world of inherited wealth with financial planner and life coach Melissa Hoyer. Melissa brings 20 years of expertise working with significant inheritances at The Wealth Conservancy. They explore the psychological challenges of sudden wealth, the importance of balance and setting meaningful intentions versus rigid goals. Melissa shares what she has learnt about the emotional integration of inherited wealth, why money magnifies existing patterns as well as how self-compassion plays a crucial role during life changes. KEY TAKEAWAYS Inherited wealth arrives "like a meteor crashing into your world," requiring emotional, psychological, and spiritual integration alongside practical wealth management skills. This is a completely different experience than accumulating wealth yourself. Money acts as a magnifier of existing patterns, those who tend toward luxury purchases will amplify this behaviour, while those uncomfortable with wealth might struggle even with small indulgences like buying the expensive coffee. Inheritors face unique challenges including feeling they've missed out on career accomplishments, experiencing loneliness from keeping wealth private, managing complex financial situations and feeling dependent on systems they don't fully understand. True work-life balance begins with a conscious decision to prioritise balance. Melissa likens it to creating a beautiful bouquet by being intentional about which flowers to include rather than trying to include everything. Setting intentions allows for more spaciousness than rigid goals, creating room for flexibility while still maintaining direction toward desired outcomes. During life changes, we experience chaos between our old normal and eventual new normal - practicing self-compassion during this phase helps us move forward. For meaningful goal setting, create a space away from daily life where goals can emerge from excitement and heart's desires rather than fear or external pressure. Many wealthy clients focus on philanthropy rather than extravagant lifestyles, channelling resources toward causes they're passionate about to create meaningful change in the world. BEST MOMENTS "When you accumulate it, you have a relationship with it, and when you inherit it, it's like this meteor crashing into your world and it's completely foreign." "Money is a magnifier oftentimes. I've worked with clients on the flip side who grew up with wealth, but they didn't embrace the wealth so they lived very well below their means." "My golden nugget about goal setting would be to, when you're setting goals, be in, I think of it as like an extraordinary space, go take a weekend away or give yourself some space and do it from a place of excitement, hopes, dreams, and allow that to fuel the goals." "It's a decision and I think of it like a, a field of beautiful flowers and you wanna make a, a beautiful bouquet of flowers and you really, you can't pick one of each because that would, that wouldn't be a bouquet." Doug speaks with Michael Drew, a marketing expert who has helped publish thousands of books and put 132 titles on bestseller lists. Drew talks about the true purpose of publishing books, explaining why becoming a bestseller should be a strategy, not a goal. He also reveals the secrets of effective goal setting, customer relationship building, and the fascinating "12 steps of intimacy" framework that transforms how businesses connect with clients. KEY TAKEAWAYS Define your goal clearly and establish a measurable metric for success. Many people focus on tactics (like writing a book) without connecting them to meaningful outcomes. Bestseller status is not a goal but a strategy, Michael has helped 132 books reach bestseller lists, but only 7 authors made more money from book sales than marketing costs. For books over 60,000 words, every additional 5,000 words results in losing 10% of potential readers. People buy shorter books they believe they can finish. Only 17% of American households buy at least one book per year, making book marketing strategy particularly important for reaching target audiences. There's a crucial difference between selling (convincing someone to take an action they hadn't planned) and conversion (helping someone take an action they already want to take). Your sole purpose should drive your goals. Build customer journeys that reflect what you would naturally do in intimate settings. Customers can sense when you're pursuing transactions versus relationships. BEST MOMENTS "Bestseller is not a goal. A bestseller is a strategy, and the tactics that float into that are what support that strategy. The strategy then has to tie back into the outcome, into the goal, into the measurement of success." "The talents and skills and abilities that I've been given have not been given to me for me. They've been given to me for my service for you and everyone else." "If the book is longer than 60,000 words, like once you hit 60,000 words, every 5,000 words, you'll lose 10% readership." "The winners and losers in life are determined when the teams are picked. There are two teams that are essential for your success. The first are the team of people who select you to be on their team. The second are those you select to be on your team." In this high-impact episode of Engineer Your Success, Dr. James Bryant interviews Bobby Dutton, a computer engineer who found his passion at the intersection of technical expertise and creative expression.  Bobby shares how he built GBM Six (formerly Groove Boston Mission Six), transforming the college concert experience by focusing on technical excellence rather than traditional performer-centered approaches. His events create immersive experiences using engineering principles to maximize impact.  The conversation reveals Bobby's powerful "Think Like a Pilot" framework based on three principles: Aviate: Focus completely on what matters most right now Navigate: Plan your direction with intentional calendaring Communicate: Process information efficiently (including achieving inbox zero) Bobby dismantles the multitasking myth, explaining how single-tasking with full attention creates dramatically better results. Learn his color-coding calendar system that distinguishes between time-sensitive tasks and flexible commitments, plus his email management approach that prevents the inbox from controlling your day. As the founder of Groove Boston Mission Six (now GBM Six), Bobby revolutionized the college concert experience by shifting focus from traditional single-artist performances to technically innovative, music-variety events that better align with modern music consumption habits. Bobby's approach to event production centers on creating memorable experiences by reallocating budgets from talent fees to advanced technical elements like lighting and visual effects. His company's mission is simple yet profound: "to make people happy" through immersive, high-energy events across the country. Beyond his event business, Bobby is a licensed private pilot who applies aviation principles to his business and personal life. He advocates for "thinking like a pilot" through the framework of "aviate, navigate, communicate" - prioritizing focus on the present task, planning effectively, and managing communications strategically. This methodical approach helps him maintain productivity and clarity amid competing demands. Bobby is passionate about productivity systems, particularly what he calls "aggressive calendaring" - ensuring calendars accurately reflect actual time usage and priorities. Doug is joined by John Drinkwater, known as toastmasters Lord Zoom. John talks to Doug about how he became a Zoom expert during the pandemic, creating virtual Toastmasters events including TV productions that drew global audiences. He shares Zoom's AI capabilities, content creation strategies and his unconventional approach to goal setting. KEY TAKEAWAYS John describes himself as either fully committed or completely disengaged, which explains his approach to goals as ‘dangerous rabbit holes’ that consume his focus once he commits to them. After closing his business to care for his parents, John joined Toastmasters International for mental stimulation, becoming involved just before COVID forced everything online, positioning him perfectly to become a Zoom expert! When faced with hosting a Toastmasters conference online with no budget, John engineered a complex computer setup that transformed Zoom meetings into a TV-show experience, earning him the nickname "Lord Zoom" and attracting nearly 1,000 viewers globally. John believes effective online presentations should combine public speaking skills, marketing techniques, acting methods, and video production knowledge. Being reasonably good at all four areas beats being excellent at just one. Zoom's built in transcription, caption capabilities and companion AI can work together to capture meeting content and refine it, with the AI able to process transcript content into polished, concise material that preserves the speaker's intent. For ambitious goals, John recommends multiplying your target by 10-100x to make it ‘stupendously stupid’, even if you fall short, you'll achieve far more than with modest goals, while pairing this with more realistic short term milestones. Creating scarcity through limited availability (like offering only 500 spots for a program) generates FOMO (fear of missing out) and makes people more likely to commit, even when pursuing extremely ambitious targets. Rather than giving all content away free, John advises offering enough value to inspire interest, then creating interactive coaching programs where people work through processes together, as group coaching provides multiple perspectives and is more scalable than one-on-one sessions. BEST MOMENTS "I'm a very binary guy, I either sit there and don't say a word, or you can't shut me up.“ "I basically just told my customers, I'm terribly sorry, but I'm going to stop trading in a couple of months time because I've decided that I love my parents so much that I want to look after them in their final years... and I disappeared for ten years." "If you're going to do it, you need to have an overriding ridiculous goal and whatever your overriding ridiculous goal is, you probably need to multiply it by 10 or 100 to turn it into absolutely stupendously stupid goal." "If you think half a million is good, then why not a million? And you think a million is not good, why not aim for five million? Now if I fail miserably and I get five hundred thousand, it's still a brilliant goal." "If people are gonna watch you, then you should take some effort to make it more interesting.” ABOUT THE GUEST https://www.linkedin.com/in/johndrinkwaterlordzoom/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Website: http://dougbennett.co.uk/ Email: doug@dougbennett.co.uk LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/financialdoug/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/FinancialDoug Facebook Wealth Tribe: https://join.dougbennett.co.uk/ Download Your "Ten-Step Guide To Financial Freedom" Here: https://bit.ly/Struggle-Success BOOKS: Goals Do Come True is now live and available to buy on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3phcy6Z Think Simple, Win Big is now live and available to buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Think-Simple-Win-Big-Business/ Enjoy, and come back for the latest podcast each Wednesday. Doug interviews Tanja Bogataj, a visionary leadership coach who made a bold transition from a government career to entrepreneurship. Tanja shares the challenges of reinventing herself and how she helps other leaders launch their big dreams. The conversation explores goal setting strategies, work/life balance and the importance of support systems. Doug also shares his expert goal setting framework! KEY TAKEAWAYS When setting goals, balance masculine and feminine energies by combining clear structure with intuition, be deliberate with goals but also listen to your inner wisdom about timing and direction. Entrepreneurship provides freedom to create opportunities that align with your passions but also requires different types of courage and creates new challenges not found in a corporate career. Leaders often struggle with having no one to share their challenges with; having a coach or support system is crucial as you can't always burden your team or family with business issues. Being intentional about what you want to achieve helps align your actions with your values. It’s important to understand not just the goal itself but why you want to achieve it. Doug recommends having one primary "big hairy audacious goal," but including smaller achievable goals you can easily achieve to maintain motivation and satisfaction with the goal-setting process. Always prioritise family time in your calendar first, nothing is so important that it should consistently override commitments to family, family time cannot be recovered once lost. Transformation takes time, approximately six months for individuals and up to 12 months for teams, but having a coach can help shortcut patterns of thinking and behaviours that limit progress. BEST MOMENTS "I knew something about coaching, but nothing about entrepreneurship." "We're not brain surgeons, nothing we do is that important that we cannot have a date night." "Trust yourself when you either go for one goal and to be open, flexible to change it and learn how to do it better or what needs to be done. Just go with the wisdom of life and living." After discovering Hoopers with her Chihuahua, Minx, and realising it was a sport that any dog, regardless of age, fitness level, breed or size could enjoy, Carrie-Anne wanted to literally tell the world - which is exactly what she did, and then some. To date, she has taught 600 trainers in 6 countries, and each has introduced hundreds of dogs to the sport. Carrie shares her inspirational business journey, including how Jo & Vicky´s mentoring skills have helped her to take things to the next level. They discuss being authentic, attracting the right clients, staying focused and authentic, and much more. KEY TAKEAWAYS Hoopers is a sport any dog can enjoy, regardless of age, breed or size. Dogs love it. Hooper is a low impact sport that dogs can play throughout most of their lives. The sport engages your dog mentally as well as physically. You can start with one simple move and increase the distance, so it is an easy way to build a dog´s confidence. The fact that you can start small and literally practice it in your living room or garden, makes it work for anyone. Hoopers equipment is inexpensive and easily fits into a car boot. Regardless of how good your idea is, turning it into a business is hard. Don´t worry too much about what other people think. Remain focused, stick to your plan and don´t get sidetracked by shiny things. The right business mentor will enable you to cut through the noise and get things right first time. Be yourself and you will attract the right clients. Your personal brand is important. Being authentic is vital. Regardless of how successful you are, you will experience down times, e.g. After CoVid Carrie was very drained, she explains how she got past that. Fear is natural, you get butterflies because you care about getting it right. The best way to get past it is to ask for help, be brave and do it anyway. BEST MOMENTS “This is a really cool sport because all dogs can do it.” “It is like croquet with a dog - without the flamingos.” “As long as the vet says they're fine to be walked, they can play Hoopers - they don't have to go fast.” “If you don't love what you're trying to get out to the world, no one else is going to love it.” “Your journey has been so much about your mindset and about where those blockers and fears come from.” “Butterflies are not a bad thing, they mean you care.” ABOUT THE GUEST https://www.caninehoopersworld.com https://www.tiktok.com/@caninehoopersworld https://www.facebook.com/caninehoopersworld https://www.facebook.com/carrieanne.bush SOCIALS AND IMPORTANT LINKS https://www.tiktok.com/@letstalkdogbusiness https://www.youtube.com/@LetsTalkDogBusiness Website www.caninebusinessacademy.com Community Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/caninebusinessacademycommunity/ Let´s Talk Dog Business Strategy Book - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lets-Talk-Dog-Business-Strategy/dp/1068791705 ABOUT THE HOSTS Meet Jo and Vicky! KEY TAKEAWAYS Goals need to match your inner purpose, not others' expectations. Instead of chasing arbitrary numbers like "six figures," Del suggests focusing on what you actually need for your desired life. Regular planning creates momentum. Doug is joined by Amanda Lemmage, the founder of Skingevity Med Spa and Wellness Clinic. Through personal narratives of resilience and healing, Amanda shares her story from early childhood trauma to becoming a wellness advocate and entrepreneur. She reveals her thoughts about the connection between inner healing, mindset, and achieving goals. Amanda's approach to holistic wellness, combining spiritual growth with practical self care strategies, gives a framework for personal transformation and success. Her story of turning personal challenges into a mission to help others heal demonstrates how adversity can become a catalyst for positive change. KEY TAKEAWAYS Amanda discovered that starting each day with intentional quiet time and meditation, even just 10 minutes, transformed her ability to handle challenges and achieve her goals. Through her wellness journey, she learned to break down ambitious goals into manageable pieces, focusing on one achievement at a time rather than getting overwhelmed by the bigger picture. After experiencing significant personal loss, Amanda found that maintaining a strong faith practice became her anchor, providing stability and guidance through life's challenges. Drawing from her experience running a med spa, Amanda advocates for regular wellness practices like infrared sauna sessions, having seen firsthand how they reduce stress and enhance immune function. As a business owner, she discovered that implementing structured routines while maintaining flexibility actually created more opportunities for spontaneity and growth in both her personal and professional life. Through developing her wellness practice, Amanda learned to focus on her natural strengths and delegate tasks outside her expertise, leading to more efficient business operations and better client outcomes. After struggling with high cortisol levels herself, Amanda now helps others understand how simple 10 minute environment changes can significantly impact stress levels. Her journey taught her the value of patience in achieving goals, recognising that certain experiences, though challenging, serve as essential stepping stones to greater success. BEST MOMENTS "I notice not feeling so great was not helping to achieve those goals that I may have set in place, so I really started to tune in and just notice taking care of myself and my mind and spirit really allowed me to persevere." "When I stay focused and I'm in my mindset, having a clear mind has really allowed me to propel just in my personal journey, as well as in my professional journey as well." "The world is a little heated out there right now, and we can choose. We really have the opportunity to choose how do we want to feel, you know, regardless of what's going on around us." "Finding what is my forte and what are my strengths that I can excel on and be successful in those areas, and then like you said, delegate or hire for the other things." Doug interviews Bryan Flanagan, a sales legend with an extraordinary journey from IBM to becoming a key figure at the Zig Ziglar Corporation. Bryan gives his advice on goal setting, sales ethics, and personal growth, drawing from his 14 years at IBM and 29 years working alongside Zig Ziglar himself. He also shares his experiences and knowledge about consistency, relationship building, and the balance between personal and professional goals. KEY TAKEAWAYS You cannot consistently perform in a manner inconsistent with how you see yourself - this fundamental principle transformed Bryan's career from a struggling salesman to a successful trainer. Goal setting requires evaluating both benefits and obstacles, if the obstacles outweigh the benefits, you need to find more benefits or reconsider the goal's viability. Personal growth must come before professional growth, investing in yourself and maintaining intentionality in daily goals is crucial for long term success. The intent behind your technique determines your ethics, and understanding this principle helps maintain professionalism and integrity in sales. Successful goal achievement requires involving and communicating with all stakeholders, especially family members who will be impacted by your pursuit. The POGO system (Person, Organisation/Occupation, Goals, Obstacles) provides a structured approach to building meaningful business relationships. Real selling is about relationships, not just digital interactions. Modern sales professionals need to balance traditional relationship building skills with new technology. Setting realistic deadlines is crucial, understanding your obstacles and required skills also helps establish achievable timelines for your goals. BEST MOMENTS "You cannot consistently perform in a manner that's inconsistent with the way you see yourself. You can't perform here if you continue to see yourself here." "If you don't set goals, somebody will set them for you. Obstacles are what we see when we take our eyes off our goal." "My job is to make salespeople more dangerous than they are right now but in a very integrity based way." "I teach what I have to learn. I teach what I need to learn the most." "You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want." Doug talks to grief specialist Ghulam Fernandes to explore the complex world of grief and loss. Through her own powerful journey of multiple personal losses, Ghulam talks about handling grief, building emotional resilience, and transforming pain into purpose. This episode isn't just about dealing with death – it's about understanding how various types of loss impact our lives and learning practical tools to navigate life's challenges while maintaining our goals and vision. KEY TAKEAWAYS Unresolved grief has three main causes: undelivered communication of significance, regrets about things being different/better, and unrealised hopes, dreams, and expectations Grief isn't restricted to bereavement, it can arise from any significant change in familiar patterns of behaviour, including career changes, relationships, and life transitions Common myths about grief like "be strong," "keep busy," and "time heals all wounds" can actually hinder the healing process and keep people stuck in their grief Grief is both cumulative and negative, it doesn't simply go away with time but needs to be actively processed and addressed Self-soothing behaviours like comfort eating, drinking, or gambling often mask unresolved grief and shouldn't be relied upon as coping mechanisms Building emotional resilience and establishing good self-care strategies are crucial for handling grief effectively While we can't change what has happened, we can choose how we respond to it and work to create something positive from our experiences Goal setting plays a vital role in grief recovery by helping create a clear vision and path forward while maintaining healthy boundaries BEST MOMENTS "It's like we carry a backpack and whenever we have difficult things we're not sure what to do with we kind of stuff them in there and then try and carry on." "You don't have to have one big wound, you can die from a thousand paper cuts and if you don't have a way of processing those things and regaining your peace of mind, then those things will sit there and keep being added to." "I want to be able to make a world of difference to those people that come into my path without expending lots of energy, worrying about all the people I can't help." "You can't change what's happened, but you can choose how you respond." "If you don't take care of yourself first, you actually end up with an empty cup and nothing to give." Doug connects with Shawn Maloney, a retirement planning expert to explore retirement planning and goal setting. Their conversation explores the psychology of retirement, the importance of planning beyond just finances and how to truly retire happy. Shawn also shares his innovative "retire happy framework" and discusses the crucial balance between enjoying retirement and ensuring financial security. KEY TAKEAWAYS The retirement journey isn't just about money, it's crucial to understand what will bring fulfilment and joy in retirement before figuring out the financial aspects. Only 10-15% of people have a proper drawdown plan for retirement, professional guidance in most cases is needed to create a sustainable retirement strategy. There are three distinct stages of retirement: the "go-go years" (high activity and spending), "slow-go years" (reduced activity), and "no-go years" (focused on medical and basic needs). The psychological shift from career to retirement is significant, people need to redefine their purpose and identity beyond their work life. Start retirement planning in your forties when your career and earnings are more defined, rather than waiting until your fifties when market dips become riskier. Consider the "opportunity cost" when making decisions. This means to evaluate whether actions are moving you toward or away from your retirement goals. Focus on covering base needs first to achieve the "happy factor" - ensuring peace of mind before planning for additional wants and wishes. Creating a work-optional lifestyle should be the goal, allowing flexibility to continue working on your own terms rather than necessity. BEST MOMENTS "Let's cover your base needs, your core expenses on a monthly basis. If you get that covered and get your nest egg generating that monthly need, that's your peace of mind, right? That's your happy factor." "The money is just the money. The money in your house is just money. Your equity in your house is just money. And the money in your savings is just money. And the money in your retirement planning is just money." "Set your goals and look at what the opportunity cost is of not setting that goal and trying to work toward it”. "Life isn't linear... I've seen your life 10 years from now, 15 years from now, 20 years from now, because of all the people that have been looking after over the last 40 years" ABOUT THE GUEST https://www.linkedin.com/in/shawn-maloney-retire-wise/ https://www.facebook.com/shawnmaloney01 https://www.retirewisepro.com/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Website: http://dougbennett.co.uk/ Email: doug@dougbennett.co.uk LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/financialdoug/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/FinancialDoug Facebook Wealth Tribe: https://join.dougbennett.co.uk/ Download Your "Ten-Step Guide To Financial Freedom" Here: https://bit.ly/Struggle-Success BOOKS: Goals Do Come True is now live and available to buy on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3phcy6Z Think Simple, Win Big is now live and available to buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Think-Simple-Win-Big-Business/ Enjoy, and come back for the latest podcast each Wednesday. Maddy shares her journey from running a local discount card business to becoming a visibility strategist and ADHD champion. As she talks about goal setting, manifestation, and authentic social media presence she gives her valuable knowledge and experience, advising entrepreneurs, especially those with neurodivergent minds, on how to set achievable goals and celebrate every success along the way. KEY TAKEAWAYS Being specific with goals and writing them down is crucial, Maddy emphasises how having tangible, written goals helped her achieve everything from securing a book deal to finding her dream house. Authenticity in business is more valuable than portraying perfection and Maddy's success comes from being genuinely herself and sharing both victories and struggles openly. Conservative goal setting can be more effective than aiming too high, setting achievable targets helps maintain motivation and prevents rejection sensitivity, especially for those who are neurodivergent. TikTok success isn't just about viral content, reaching the right 200 people can be more valuable than reaching millions of the wrong ones. Traditional coaching methods don't work for everyone, many people need direct guidance rather than having answers drawn out of them. Being detailed about what you want when manifesting goals, helps align your actions with your objectives. Building a business around your values creates genuine connections. Start by focusing on attracting people with similar missions rather than trying to appeal to everyone. Celebrating small wins is essential for sustainable growth - Breaking down larger goals into smaller achievements helps maintain momentum and motivation. BEST MOMENTS "I'm what they call a multipotentialite, if you haven't heard that word, it basically just means that I do all of the stuff, I refuse to niche based on a subject area." "I have made some severely good money from TikTok, from my actual content, from going viral but I actually realised about six months ago that it's not about going viral, it's about reaching the right people." "If you are open and honest about your goals and your missions and what you want to achieve and you're realistic, there is absolutely no reason why you won't hit those goals." Angela talks to Carrie B, a practitioner in clinical nutrition and circadian biology, as they explore the intricate connections between water, light, and health. Carrie shares her personal journey into the realms of circadian and quantum biology, highlighting the transformative impact of understanding how our bodies interact with light and structured water. They also journey into the significance of water's unique properties, including its structured forms and the importance of remineralisation, as well as the profound effects of light exposure on cellular health and energy production. KEY TAKEAWAYS Understanding how our bodies interact with light, nature, and water is crucial for maintaining health. Never underestimate the importance of circadian rhythms and how they can be influenced by environmental factors. The water in our bodies is not just H2O; it exists in a structured form known as exclusion zone water, which has unique properties that support cellular health. This structured water is negatively charged and essential for optimal cellular function. Exposure to natural light, particularly infrared light, is vital for recharging the structured water in our cells. This light helps maintain cellular energy and vitality, which is especially important during the winter months when natural light is limited. The way we treat water—through thoughts, words, and intentions—can affect its structure and, consequently, our health. Practices like expressing gratitude and prayer can enhance the quality of the water we consume BEST MOMENTS "I knew deep down that I was missing a very large piece of the puzzle when it came to what we need to support our health." "The water inside of our cells is highly, highly structured to the extent that it forms almost like a gel-like consistency." Doug is joined by Jordan Modiano, a business owner, race car driver, leadership trainer, and motivational speaker who proudly calls himself an "Autism Super Dad." Jordan shares his thoughts on everything from goal setting and leadership to how his daughter's autism has shaped his approach to life and business. Jordan's stories and lessons will inspire you to rethink your approach to goals, leadership, and personal growth. KEY TAKEAWAYS Share your goals with people who matter and provide detailed explanations of how you'll achieve them. This creates accountability and support systems for when times get tough Success requires levelling up your circle, seek out businesses and people who are where you want to be to accelerate your growth Treat goals like milestones, breaking them down into smaller chunks while celebrating progress along the way True leadership is about making other people's lives better, regardless of your position or title Put distance between events and your responses; bad minutes don't have to become bad days People are always watching. Small actions and interactions can have profound impacts you may never know about Goals require different accountability approaches for different situations, what works for yourself may not work for others Confidence in goal setting is crucial - "Trying" to achieve something already provides an excuse for failure BEST MOMENTS "Having a daughter on the autism spectrum, she shows me what she's capable of. And I sit back and go, wow, if she can do that, what are we capable of?”. "Experience isn't wisdom, experience is experience, experience matched with reflection. That becomes wisdom. That's where your lessons come from." "You know, they say, show me your friends. I'll show you your future. If you hang around with five millionaires, you'll be the sixth. If you hang around with five alcoholics, you'll be the sixth." "You think about the best teams in the world, what makes the best team? Trust. And what's the foundation for trust? Vulnerability." ABOUT THE GUEST www.JordanModiano.com - Free 15-minute one-on-one consultation! Why Your Goals Might Be Wrong: Dan Bradbury's Three Part Success Formula

Doug is joined by Dan Bradbury, an entrepreneur, business investor and mentor. Dan shares his journey through early business failures, a life threatening accident that changed his perspective on financial security, and his evolution into buying, scaling, and selling companies. His approach to goal setting, learning, and business growth, combined with his passion for mastermind groups and relationship building, provides great insight into achieving success whilst remaining authentic KEY TAKEAWAYS Dan's early business failure, resulting in £109,000 of personal debt, became a foundational learning experience that shaped his approach to entrepreneurship and his ability to help others avoid similar mistakes. His life changing cycling accident and resulting brain injury transformed his perspective on business, leading him to shift from simply running companies to strategically buying, selling, and merging them for greater security. Rather than focusing on massive goals, Dan structures his approach around daily achievements in three core areas: health/wellbeing, business, and relationships, using apps to track his progress. As a big reader with a personal library of thousands of books, Dan maintains an unlimited book budget for his family, believing strongly that most solutions already exist in written form. Dan actively seeks out people with opposing viewpoints, following Charlie Munger's philosophy of understanding the opposite perspective better than its proponents before forming opinions. In his mastermind groups, Dan focuses first on identifying the six key areas of business and diagnosing where each member's weakest links are, believing the biggest gains come from addressing these weaknesses. Having tested multiple paths to success, Dan advocates for gathering diverse solutions rather than relying on a single approach, encouraging others to explore multiple routes to their goals. Through his years of business experience, Dan has discovered that the true value isn't in achieving goals but in the relationships built along the journey, creating lasting impact and fulfilment. BEST MOMENTS "If you've already had the answers, you would have done it already. I kind of go innovations come from looking outside of yourself." "I refuse to let myself have an opinion on something unless I know more about my opponent's point of view than they do." "I believe that prescription without proper diagnosis is malpractice." "If you meet somebody that refuses to admit that is convinced that they're right constantly and isn't willing to hold up their hands and say when they're wrong, that should be a big red flag." Doug talks with David Roberts, a seasoned business leader with 30 years of experience who transforms struggling businesses and helps entrepreneurs reconnect with their purpose. David shares the power of the 12-week year, the psychology of business leadership, and how to overcome feeling stuck. His approach which combines practical business strategy with mindset work, is a framework for business success. Whether you're running a seven-figure business or planning your exit strategy, David's advice about patterns, beliefs, and skills will challenge your thinking about business growth. KEY TAKEAWAYS The 12-week year system accelerates progress by breaking annual goals into 13-week cycles, with the 13th week dedicated to review and planning, enabling better execution and more frequent achievement celebrations. Business owners often feel stuck due to cashflow dependency and emotional attachment; the solution lies in building trusted teams and creating alternative revenue streams. Understanding different personality types is crucial when implementing change. Effective goal setting must accommodate various working styles within a team. Leaders should focus on execution rather than strategy, a successful change requires five elements: vision, resources, plan, skills, and incentives. External factors like economic conditions shouldn't be the primary focus. Instead, try and concentrate on solving problems for customers and staying relevant to your target market. The "Valley of Despair" or "Messy Middle" is an inevitable part of goal achievement; conducting a pre-mortem can help anticipate and prepare for challenges. Balance your focus between practical business metrics and personal leadership development for sustainable success. BEST MOMENTS "A belief is something that you hold to be true, even though it may not be based on fact…so challenge those beliefs." "What people think is well once you've started down the road of looking at selling a company you've kind of then got a sell it and that's not actually the case. What you've got to do is you've got to get yourself to a place where you can sell it if that's something that you want to do." "I don't really see as a leader, how you can lead other people without, without first being a good self leader." "Businesses exist to solve problems so if you are solving a problem and you're staying relevant to a group of people, a group of customers, and enough of them have the problem that you're trying to solve... then brilliant." Over the years she has enabled people to transform how they run their business and connect with clients using the power of LinkedIn. This episode is packed with information you can use to take your understanding of your ideal client and turning them into loyal customers to the next level. KEY TAKEAWAYS Be clear on what you do and how it helps your customers. Creating client personas really does work. Helen explains how she does this during the podcast. Regularly update your client persona. As your business changes so will your ideal client.  Even if your business does not change much, the way your ideal clients are living will evolve.  When you bring your ideal client to life in your mind and focus on them you attract them to your business. It is a highly effective form of manifestation. Combining spirituality with strategy is powerful. Understanding and tapping into your energy and applying it in the right way is incredibly effective. LinkedIn does not need to be complicated. The method Helen teaches for LinkedIn, with a few tweaks, works for other social media platforms. Be yourself people appreciate honesty.  Not being you is exhausting and damaging. Invest in yourself and spend money on the things you want and like. BEST MOMENTS “I find clients everywhere. “ “When you change your business, your ideal client is going to change. “ “I had no idea how to really use LinkedIn or how to market myself online, I just went with radical honesty.“  “I spent from the age of 24 till 44 basically collecting certificates … it was driven by my demons - that I never thought I was good enough.· “I think I'm open and out of the closet with my wooness.” “In two weeks of taking my advice, she signed up 10 new clients.” ABOUT THE GUEST https://www.linkedin.com/in/helentudor https://www.facebook.com/LinkedInLeadGen WORK WITH ME If you're ready for greater clarity and confidence to create the freedom and alignment, you crave in business and life. Doug interviews Gretchen Lennon, founder of Lennon Legal, a boutique law firm specialising in startups and early-stage companies in everything from funding rounds and employee share options, to commercial contracts and data protection and plenty in between. What starts as a discussion about legal entrepreneurship transforms into a fascinating exploration of work-life balance, goal setting, and the courage to take calculated risks. From trading corporate law life in London for skiing in Verbier to building a successful remote legal consultancy, Gretchen's experiences give inspiration to anyone considering a major career change or struggling with entrepreneurial challenges. The conversation also takes an unexpected therapeutic turn as Doug helps Gretchen confront her work-life balance struggles. KEY TAKEAWAYS ·       After leaving her corporate law career in London, Gretchen discovered that running her own business led to working longer hours, not achieving the freedom she initially sought ·       A chance encounter with a client while working as a chalet manager in Verbier opened her eyes to the possibility of becoming a consultant lawyer ·       Starting with one short-term contract, Gretchen gradually built Lennon Legal into a team of 10 lawyers, proving you don't need a grand plan to build a successful business ·       Despite living in a famous ski resort, Gretchen found herself prioritising work over her personal life, highlighting how entrepreneurs can lose sight of why they chose independence ·       Her perspective on success evolved from wanting to build a large, financially successful law firm to creating a business that fits her desired lifestyle ·       Working with a business coach helped Gretchen recognise the importance of scheduling personal time first, as it won't happen naturally ·       Rather than staying paralysed by fear, Gretchen used Tim Ferriss's approach of thoroughly analysing worst case scenarios to take the leap into entrepreneurship ·       Through growing her business, Gretchen learned that delegation and building a team of specialists was more effective than trying to handle everything herself BEST MOMENTS "I really thought I was some sort of Ally McBeal meets suits and then I guess I kind of got to my late twenties and just sort of felt a little bit burnt out."  "You can't have a work life balance that doesn't exist. You know, because you're either in work or you're in life, so you can't balance between the two and have it all"  "As an entrepreneur, even when, in fact, I would almost go so far as to say, especially when things are a little bit quiet. That's when you have an even greater sense of guilt."  "I quickly realised that this sort of concept of becoming completely destitute and, you know, running out of money and not having any clients and whatever actually really just sort of played out as, okay, I'll give it a go."  ABOUT THE GUEST lennonlegal.com https://www.linkedin.com/in/gretchen-lennon-55455664/ VALUABLE RESOURCES Website: http://dougbennett.co.uk/ Email: doug@dougbennett.co.uk LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/financialdoug/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/FinancialDoug Facebook Wealth Tribe: https://join.dougbennett.co.uk/ Download Your "Ten-Step Guide To Financial Freedom" Here: https://bit.ly/Struggle-Success BOOKS: Goals Do Come True is now live and available to buy on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3phcy6Z Think Simple, Win Big is now live and available to buy on Amazon: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Think-Simple-Win-Big-Business/ Enjoy, and come back for the latest podcast each Wednesday. She and Toni discuss how to be successful in that environment and what women can do to support each other and break down the barriers that are still there. Amy shares the ups and downs, including how she and her husband coped with being ripped off and losing a business worth millions, despite winning a court case against the perpetrators. She explains how she and her husband found the strength to rebuild and create a new six-figure business. Toni and Amy discuss finding a strong why and building resilience.   KEY TAKEAWAYS ·      There are still not many women working in scrap or recycling. At last year´s industry dinner, only 6 of the 500 guests were women. ·      Women are still not helping other women enough. ·      When Amy and her husband were conned out of their business, they were devastated but still found the strength to start again. ·      Having a strong why helped them to work their way back up to owning a highly profitable business. ·      Physical exercise massively helped Amy to cope and work to rebuild. ·      Taking little steps each day stops you from wallowing. ·      Don´t let others project their insecurities onto you. ·      You don´t have to tick every single requirement to apply for the job you really want. ·      Learn to trade the money you earn multiple times.   BEST MOMENTS “I just felt this real pull that Bella (her daughter) would get to go on and do at least as much as I did, and hopefully more. “ “It's easy to, like you say, roll over and just wallow in this, but equally, it is easy to take some little steps every day, “ “It just really befuddles me that there aren't more women that are actually supporting women. “ ABOUT THE GUEST https://www.linkedin.com/in/amy-bird-connolleys https://www.instagram.com/womeninrecycling https://www.womeninscrap.com   WORK WITH ME If you're ready for greater clarity and confidence to create the freedom and alignment, you crave in business and life. Lucinda discusses the important topic of neurodiversity with independent consultant Amanda McEvoy. With over 20 years of experience in the health sector and a personal connection to neurodiversity through her family, Amanda shares her insights on the challenges and strengths associated with conditions like autism, ADHD, and dyslexia. The conversation delves into the unique ways neurodiversity presents, particularly in females, and emphasises the need for organisations to create inclusive environments that harness the talents of neurodivergent individuals KEY TAKEAWAYS Neurodiversity encompasses all individuals, including both neurotypical and neurodivergent people. It refers to the variety of ways in which our brains function, affecting our experiences, strengths, and weaknesses. Female autism often presents differently than male autism, leading to under-diagnosis. Many girls are adept at masking their symptoms, which can result in their neurodiversity going unrecognised until later in life. Organisations should focus on making reasonable adjustments that benefit all employees, not just those who are neurodivergent. Simple changes, such as using plain language in job descriptions and allowing flexible interview processes, can create a more welcoming atmosphere. Companies that actively seek to hire neurodivergent individuals can benefit from their unique skills and perspectives. Embracing neurodiversity can lead to increased productivity, retention, and overall workplace satisfaction. BEST MOMENTS "When I hit menopause, my symptoms actually got a lot worse. And I realized that actually, I got diagnosed with ADHD."  "Girls are fantastic at masking... they learn very quickly how to adjust, so they therefore become fantastic at masking or fawning."  "It's really about adjusting the environment, so not expecting the individual to fit into the environment, but actually adjusting the environment to make it easier for the individual to thrive."  "If you can do it in construction, you can do it in any industry. It's just about working out what is your strategy for harnessing it." Lucinda talks with Kate Jones, a leadership coach and consultant from Neon, about the evolving landscape of leadership, culture, and well-being in organisations. Kate shares her journey from frontline social work to management consulting and ultimately founding Neon, where she focuses on fostering deeply human leadership capabilities. Together, they talk about the growing demand for purpose-driven work, particularly among younger generations, and the challenges of maintaining a meaningful organisational culture amidst the pressures of a fast-paced work environment KEY TAKEAWAYS There is a noticeable shift, particularly among Generation Z, who are increasingly seeking purpose and meaning in their work beyond just financial gain. This trend reflects a broader societal demand for organisations to act as forces for good. Many organisations, including those in the public and third sectors, often operate in a "hamster wheel" culture characterised by constant busyness and a lack of time for reflection, creativity, and genuine connection. Effective leadership should focus on five key elements: Clarity of Purpose, Connection, Consciousness, Creativity, and Care. These elements help create a people-focused culture that enhances employee well-being and organisational performance. Employee well-being is a shared responsibility between the organisation and the individual. While organisations must foster a supportive culture, individuals also need to take responsibility for their own well-being by setting boundaries and prioritising self-care. BEST MOMENTS "I suppose purpose could also be where Gen Z or anyone is expecting an organisation to do stuff about being more sustainable." "The hamster wheel culture is a culture of busyness, where you don't have time to think about what you're doing or connect with yourself or other people." "Are we helping people to understand what's important, particularly in an environment where priorities might be shifting?" "Employee wellbeing equals deeply human leadership, plus deeply human culture, plus deeply human infrastructure multiplied by employee responsibility."
