Hello! This is Episode 349, and in it, I’m going to discuss a topic that is, I believe, often the promoted ‘thing’ out there through glossy mags and social media: ‘How to create a luxurious home’. And because it seems to be promoted so heavily, by inference, it seems that it’s supposed to be one of the goals when creating your ideal home. However, I have found that the definition of ‘luxury’ can have MANY connotations. Not always positive either. And it can be so relative and subjective in how it’s interpreted, that this supposed pursuit of a luxurious home as the dream being sold to us can be really fraught. And so, I wanted to dive into this more. We learn the difference between various materials commonly used in high-end performance applications — like 6061 and 7075 aluminium, for example —  as well as the pros and cons of different 3D scanning tools, coordinate measuring machines, and CAD software.The conversation then steers itself towards the weaknesses of both Nissan's VR38 and Subaru's EJ motors, delving into how failures occur and how Chris addressed them with his billet block and head offerings. I'm just coming out of my little Christmas / New Year hibernation. I've been up in Scotland for a couple of weeks at my folks house with Victoria and our little girl, hanging out with family and eating all the food and watching all the Christmas films and doing all that stuff. So I just want to start off by wishing you a massive Happy New Year, whatever you've been up to, whatever holidays you celebrate. In this episode, I want to share how I've structured my life to navigate Crimbo Limbo successfully and help you do the same.Even if you're familiar with the term, I believe there's value in discussing the shared experience and exploring strategies to cope with it. The holiday season, with its cultural peculiarities, affects us all, and understanding its impact can be a game-changer.I'll share personal insights from my recent experiences, like a Christmas getaway to Sun Peaks, where I observed the familiar highs and lows of the season. The letdown after Christmas day, the sudden drop in stimulation, and the ensuing emotional roller coaster, especially for neurodivergent individuals, can be profound.We'll explore the concept of "resetting" your nervous system during these moments. Whether it's through a high-intensity workout or a coaching session, finding a way to interrupt the stress cycle is crucial. I'll also address common challenges, such as difficulty switching mental gears from high to low energy.Recognizing the truth of the situation is pivotal—acknowledging that these feelings are a natural response to the holiday season's dynamics. Instead of judging ourselves for not immediately embracing relaxation, we'll focus on providing self-support during this transitional period.I'll offer practical tips, including leveraging your senses for comfort, engaging in movement to move emotions through the body, and incorporating small adventures into your routine. My sister in law was with me at the time and also read the same message. She is still married… so we both know, we haven't confronted her about anything. I haven't told my boyfriend and I don't feel like it's my place to. What should I do? Ignore that I ever read the message?? Every time I look at her I think how could you. -My partner & I had been dating for 7 months. We have plans to move in together and travel Europe in Feb Mar 2024. Two weeks ago he dropped on me that he'd be travelling Sri Lanka with his sister from Boxing Day until 14th of Jan. I cried when he told me he was going and I blew up when he booked the following day. This leaves me, a pharmacist working on call at a metro hospital alone over the Christmas - New Year period. He thinks I'm being unreasonable and can't see that I'm left feeling abandoned. I'm a single child. Do I just not get it? Or should my partner be spending time with me over this time? Since I can't visit my friends or family who live interstate due to work.  I have a friend who's been having an affair for a few years now. The guy is a lot older than her and one of the reasons they aren't together is she wants kids. She is now engaged to her partner that she's been cheating on for years and I'm invited to the wedding next year. I don't know how to respond or how to have the conversation to see if this marriage is something she actually wants? She has said she is in love with this other man but still loves her fiancé. Do I say something to her or do I just turn up at the wedding and have a good time? I feel mixed.
