I end this reflection considering three M's: Masterminding, Models, and One Minute Acts of Manifesting. However, the bulk of the reflection is me interrogating myself as a masterminder (because I gotta little bit of imposter syndrome happening). Supporting themes: Strategy; Envisioning; Ambition; Calibrating; Grief; Death of parents; Motivation; Neurodivergence. Special Note 1: This reflection was inspired in part by Isabel Briggs Meyers ("Gifts Differing"). Special Note 2: I differentiate between three levels of masterminding; lowercase, uppercase, and all caps. Typology: Ni-domness; INTJ; INFJ; Te; Enneagram 8.
In this episode, Emma Campbell shares why delegation might just be the unsexy secret to your next level of personal and business growth. After returning from seven months on the road, Emma reflects on how delegating more and doing less herself has resulted in her most successful and sustainable business season yet. She discusses how letting go of control and delegating effectively has allowed her to create more space, grow her team, and scale her impact.Emma opens up about her conscious decisions to hold back on investing during a season of saving, and what changed when she shifted into growth mode. She shares the behind-the-scenes of building strong foundations in both her business and home life—everything from hiring an online business manager and a housekeeper to strengthening leadership within her team. She also shares her family's practical systems to keep things running smoothly.Throughout the episode, Emma explores the key reasons why leaders often struggle with delegation. She unpacks the mindset blocks, including perfectionism, control, and the fear that no one else can do things as well. She reminds listeners that your ability to delegate is directly tied to how high you and your business can rise. She also covers the cost of not delegating—burnout, bottlenecks, and missed opportunities to grow and empower your team.Emma introduces her signature "Three M's" framework for delegation: motivation, mindset, and mechanics. She explains why understanding your ‘why' behind delegating is crucial, how to reframe limiting beliefs, and how to identify which tasks belong in your zone of genius—and which ones don't. She also dives into practical delegation tools, like the Pareto Principle and her "loose-tight" method for managing outcomes while empowering your team to use their own strengths.Whether you're feeling overwhelmed or just ready to step into more aligned leadership, this episode is packed with insights and strategies to help you delegate with confidence and clarity. Emma also teases an upcoming masterclass on delegation and invites listeners to get in touch if they're interested in bringing this training into their own leadership teams. If you enjoyed this episode, be sure to follow the podcast, share it with a fellow leader, and reach out to Emma for more support or training options.Follow Emma Campbell: Instagram: @emma_lou_campbellLinkedIn: Emma CampbellWebsite: www.emmacampbell.com.au

Doesn't play any instruments and doesn't articulate, but is clearly somebody that the musicians are paying attention to. They know when they're offline or if their points are resonating. It was a book written out of frustration, curiosity, and with a desire to create something that would make a difference for, at least, some people in some meetings. Not necessarily a cure-all.Munir Haque: [00:00:47] Hello everyone, and welcome to another episode of The Boardroom 180 Podcast. I'm your host Munir Haque, an executive coach and senior board strategist. I have partnered with Action Edge Executive Development to lead their governance and political acumen division. In each episode, we meet with governance leaders and step into their boardrooms, where decisions shape the world around us.Munir Haque: [00:01:07] Hello everybody! On today's show, I'm happy to be welcoming Bryan Hayward on the Boardroom 180 Podcast. Bryan Hayward is a governance expert, seasoned leader and author of the acclaimed book, 'The Great Chair: A Window on Effective Board Leadership'. With nearly 40 years of experience at the C-suite level and board level, he's attended over 600 board meetings, serving as CEO, director, and chair. His award winning book distills his insights into practical tools for effective board leadership. Bryan has led high stakes organizational transitions, including ownership changes and governance overhauls working with public companies, family businesses, startups, and nonprofits. Notable achievements include chairing strategic reviews for Ridley Australia and Wellington West, and developing a governance model for Princess Auto that drove significant growth and market success.Munir Haque: [00:01:57] Formerly CEO of Agricore United, a $5 billion agribusiness, Bryan has been recognized for his excellence in enterprise risk, IT innovation and HR management. He also served eight years on the board of the Business Development Bank of Canada, chairing its audit committee as well as chairing the committee for two years. He is a Chartered Director and has an ICD.D designation. Through his work, Bryan inspires boards to navigate complexity and achieve success with confidence and clarity. Welcome to The Boardroom 180 podcast, Mr. Hayward. One of the reasons I wanted you on the podcast is, I have read your book. It was a while back now, but I found it to be a very useful resource and it's got some very useful lessons and I use it in my own coaching. Now surprisingly, when I looked you up I didn't realize that you lived in Canada as well. Bit of a surprise, and then I reached out to you and you were very prompt to get back to me, so thanks for that.Bryan Hayward: [00:03:00] My pleasure, glad to be here. From Manitoba, not exactly the hotbed of governance when you think of that.Munir Haque: [00:03:07] First off, maybe we'll go through some of the stuff that you talked about in the book. I don't recall if that's in your foreword or not, but talk a little bit about why you wrote a book specifically on the chair.Bryan Hayward: [00:03:19] Some people come to life and they say, before I bite the dust, I want to run a marathon, or I want to do this, or I want to fly a plane, or I want to write a book. That wasn't what drove it. I've been involved in situations where boards have made a huge difference. In your intro you were talking about situations that are existential, where you've got to make, not necessarily when you're in it, you don't know if you're making the right call, but you have to ha...

A winning fundraising strategy requires nonprofits to align their mindset, clarify their message, and consistently apply methods that prioritize donor engagement and community impact. Fundraising expert Peter Heller joins co-hosts Julia Patrick and Sherry Quam Taylor, to explore the essential "Three M's for Fundraising Wins": Mindset, Message, and Method. Peter, CEO and Founder of Heller Fundraising Group, emphasizes the importance of mindset in fundraising, beginning with, "If you don't think your nonprofit is worth it, then it's time to pack up or get a new job." According to Peter, nonprofit teams often struggle with self-doubt and limiting beliefs that can dampen their fundraising potential. Sherry adds that, "Mindset isn't 80% of the battle—it's everything."The trio then explore the "Message" aspect. Peter advises nonprofits to focus on the positive future they aim to create for their community, rather than portraying themselves as the hero of the story. This strategy, he explains, fosters deeper donor engagement. He says, "Your nonprofit is simply the catalyst or vehicle for positive community change." Finally, the 3 discuss the "Method," where Peter advocates for a structured, year-long approach to fundraising. He stresses the importance of diverse fundraising methods, saying, "It's not about just one big gala or campaign but engaging major donors consistently every month." This organized approach allows nonprofits to maximize their impact while avoiding common pitfalls, like over-relying on event planning instead of donor relationships.Find us Live daily on YouTube!Find us Live daily on LinkedIn!Find us Live daily on X: @Nonprofit_ShowOur national co-hosts and amazing guests discuss management, money and missions of nonprofits! 12:30pm ET 11:30am CT 10:30am MT 9:30am PTSend us your ideas for Show Guests or Topics: HelpDesk@AmericanNonprofitAcademy.comVisit us on the web:The Nonprofit Show

Can You Get Podcast Downloads Without Actively Marketing It? I often get asked, "What would happen if I didn't promote my podcast at all?" In this episode, I'll share what I found when I tested this out on my podcast between Seasons 1 and 2 of the show. I'll discuss the impact on my downloads, traffic, retention, brand, and social media. I wanted to create a season preview about what the new season will bring while telling you what happens if you neglect podcast promotion. By doing so, I also hope to help you avoid seeing zero downloads on that dashboard—a traumatic scenario for any podcaster. I understand the effort put into creating a show, only to have no listeners can be disheartening. So, let's dive into this topic and discuss a few big changes happening behind the scenes. The Consequences of Not Promoting Your PodcastWhat happens if you decide not to promote your podcast at all? I did a little experiment—I did mention the podcast once in a newsletter—but for almost three months, I didn't promote it on social media or through my newsletter, except for that one time. So, what happened?I looked at the data right before recording this episode and here's what I found:Shift in Platform Use: There was a notable shift in platform use. While Spotify has seen growth among users, especially where Android is more prevalent, my US-based audience primarily uses Apple devices. This shift was surprising and suggests behavioral (or audience) changes among listeners, with Spotify launching new features contributing to this change.Analysis of the Data: Comparing an almost 90-day period of not promoting my podcast to the previous 90-day period, I saw a 30% drop in downloads and unique listeners. This number is interesting as it held consistent across downloads and unique listeners.Impact on Video Content: The impact was also felt on YouTube, where I had lower view durations and 40% fewer views compared to the previous period. Google continued to drive traffic to my podcast pages due to SEO optimizations, ensuring a steady stream of new traffic. However, without promotion, this viewership decreased.Consumption Impact: There was also a decline in consumption, with listeners not engaging as deeply with the episodes. This is consistent with attracting "cold traffic" – new audiences unfamiliar with my content.Inactive Status on Platforms: My podcast showed as inactive on some platforms, which could discourage potential sponsors or new listeners who want active content creators. Despite this, I continued to receive numerous pitches for guest spots, despite not featuring guests for a while.Embracing Major ChangesNow, let's discuss some exciting news I previously shared on Instagram. Initially, I planned for about 20 episodes of solos and interviews, but I've decided against it. I'm moving from Dallas, Texas to Bentonville, Arkansas due to my husband's job! To ensure consistency, I've pre-recorded all content in my office. This means a consistent look and sound for the show - something extremely important if you're trying to create a professional image of your show. The Three M's: Marketing, Metrics, and MindsetThe theme for this season is very strategic: Marketing, Metrics, and Mindset. These elements are crucial and interrelated. During my coaching and consulting sessions, I often see clients benefitting from adjustments in these areas. Here's a peek into the topics we'll cover:Passively Attracting and Converting Listeners: Learn how to enhance your podcast profile and attract listeners without aggressive promotion.Crucial Podcast Metrics: Discover the top three podcast metrics that every business

My guest today on the Online for Authors podcast is Catherine Butterfield, author of the book, The Serpent and the Rose. Catherine was born in Manhattan but raised primarily in Minnesota and Massachusetts. (The Three M's) She was a skinny kid with miserable allergies and spent most of her youth indoors reading books. Her two biggest influences at that point were J.D. Salinger and Anne Frank. As an actress, she spent her early career acting regionally and then started writing for the stage. Her first break as a playwright came with the Manhattan Theatre Club production of JOINED AT THE HEAD, which she wrote and starred in, leading to other productions of her plays in the city and the beginnings of her TV career. Though relocated to Los Angeles, she never stopped writing plays; so far ten of them have been produced and published. During the pandemic she and husband RON WEST created over 60 short films for a series entitled LIFE DURING LOCKDOWN, which can be seen under her name on Youtube. Recently, she has written her first novel, "The Serpent and the Rose," about the French queen Marguerite de Valois and her lifelong battle with her mother, Catherine de Medici. She lives in Santa Monica with Ron West and their cat, Pandita. Her daughter is the actress Audrey Corsa. In my book review, I stated that Marguerite began life as a French princess, became the Queen of Navarre through marriage, and chose to remove herself from that marriage as her husband became King of France. We follow Marguerite's life through journal entries, allowing us to see her dysfunctional family and the craziness of court life from her point of view. I loved that this was written in first person and in present tense - an unusual POV for a historical fiction novel - because I became quite attached to Marguerite and her quick wit and dry sense of humor. I typically do not care for books written about this period of time because I get slogged down in the details of a history I can't keep straight and names that mean nothing to me. However, Butterfield did an amazing job keeping readers engaged with salient facts, a quick tempo, and dashes of humor. I loved this book and highly recommend it to anyone who loves historical fiction and a good laugh. In this episode, I delve into the journey of building a successful online coaching business, with the aim of reaching multiple six or even seven figures within just 12 months. I share my own experiences and insights, hoping to offer valuable nuggets that listeners can apply to their own ventures. One common pitfall I discuss is the tendency for many online coaches, particularly in health and fitness, to become overly fixated on strategies and tactics without considering the right sequence of execution. Drawing parallels with the structured approach of building Legos, I stress the importance of following a methodical order. I introduce the concept of the "Three M's of Business Growth," starting with crafting a targeted message and offer for a specific avatar, then developing essential money-making skills and systems, and finally, addressing the critical aspect of mindset and energy. I dive deep into the significance of effective messaging, emphasizing its role in connecting with the audience, articulating their pain points and aspirations, and ultimately driving action “Success is 80% psychology, 20% strategy, and I actually think it's a bigger gap, I think it's a 90/10” Prioritizing the correct sequence of strategies and tactics for optimal results in business growth Unveiling the development of essential skills and establishment of efficient systems for lead generation, nurturing, sales, and service delivery Delving into the importance of tailoring messages and offers to resonate with specific target audiences Exploring the three pivotal "M's" for business success: Messaging, Money-making skills and systems, and Mindset and energy Connect with me: Email: jason@goliveonlinemastermind.com Website: https://www.growmyvisibility.com/ Instagram: @coachjasonmeland Facebook: Jason Meland - In Demand Coach LinkedIn: Jason Meland

He got into the industry by chance in the mid 80s and left corporate America to pursue a career in recycling. They discuss Adam's post on LinkedIn asking who should she talk to at the TLMI converter meeting, and how Ginny Gandy of Label Leaders of Tomorrow suggested Calvin. Adam hopes Roz Bandy, a good friend of his, is feeling better. Calvin mentions that he will be the most controversial guest on the podcast and the conversation shifts to him introducing himself. He talks about how he got into the industry by chance and left corporate America to pursue a career in recycling. The speaker talks about their journey of starting a business in the recycling industry and how they eventually shifted to recycling non-recyclable materials such as laminated paper and films. Through their efforts, they developed relationships with large corporations such as Three M, Avery, and Dennison. The speaker also mentions the covenants they have to agree to, which includes not landfilling any byproduct that they can't reprocess and bringing in salvage materials at 60%, 20-25%. The speaker, who has been involved in the pressure sensitive label industry for many years, discussed the evolution of the industry and the risk it is currently facing. As the adhesive used renders the label non-recyclable, the speaker was part of a task force in the 1990s to develop benign technology, which would render the label recyclable. Currently, the speaker is trying to garner support and scale in order to make this technology more cost effective so that it can be used. This would make the pressure sensitive label industry more environmentally friendly. The speaker, a recycling expert, began by discussing how he got into the pressure sensitive label industry and realized it was at risk due to lack of sustainable practices. He then discussed Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and how it would influence the technology of the industry. He then discussed liner recycling, noting the two main issues of logistics and packaging. Finally, he discussed Jim Shively and how he has made improvements in the industry but the two main issues still remain unsolved.Timestamps0:00:00Conversation with Calvin Frost, TLMI Converter Meeting Day Two0:02:29Heading: Channeled Resources: Recycling Non-Recyclables and Developing Relationships with Large Corporations0:04:26Heading: Exploring the Pressure Sensitive Label Industry and the Benefits of Benign Technology0:08:32Exploring the Challenges of Recycling Pressure Sensitive Labels in the Label Industry0:10:45Discussion on Pressure Sensitive Labels and Recycling in the Packaging Industry0:12:19Conversation on Recyclable Adhesives and Sleeve Packaging0:15:55Exploring Sustainable Packaging Solutions: A Discussion on Chlorine-Based Inks and Sleeve Packaging0:18:13Exploring the Challenges of Recycling: A Conversation with an Expert in the Field0:20:31Interview with Calvin Frost: A Conversation on Sustainability in the Packaging IndustryHighlightsWe're trying to compete with coal and the products that we use, the matrix and the flexible packaging that go into our fuel, all of those have to meet an EPA emission standard. Chlorine causes a problem. What we had, we had a supplier shipping us 300 tons a month of their matrix, and we had to stop it because the tests that we found showed very, very high levels of chlorine. When we finally drilled down into this, we found out that this company was using a chlorine based ink.So when we start talking about some of these technologies, it's great. The really interesting part is, from a technology point of view, from a sustainability point of view, the end user has to be part of the discussion. And they give you one example, and this is really interesting. So we have problems when we use materials for energy. The basic problem is chlorine. Chlorine causes emissions, and we're out of spec with EPA. We have to meet standards. What happens in the repulsing process and we're talking paper now, not film. What happens in the paper manufacturing process is that the traditional adhesives, hot milled and acrylics will disintegrate into smaller pieces and they'll go through the felts, they'll go through the screens, and those adhesives will then cause contamination in the paper. Now, we can use it in brown grades, corrugated. We're able to withstand some contamination in that kind of material.. But if we have the technology that will keep the adhesive in a large piece so I can catch it on that screen and I can put it in my wastewater. I'll keep it away from the new paper that I'm making. We can figure this stuff out, right? But getting the industry to focus on solutions for those two issues, logistics and packaging, that's been really complicated. So there was a good Q and A this morning on liners. Jim Shively ran that and I've spent lots, he's terrific and I've spent a lot of time with Jim and Jim has brought some real good changes to the industry but we're still backwards when it comes to solving the two basic problems, logistics and packaging.EPR is now coming in extended producer responsibility. All of these factors are going to push our technology to change or we're going to be out and glue applied is going to be back because it's friendlier. So to me some of the things that we've been working on liner recycling, that's an easy one. We've been recycling liners for years and years and years. The complicated part is collecting it, right? The complicated part, there are two problems with liner recycling, just two, logistics and packaging. It's as simple as that. 2022 was a great year and I'm excited about 2023. I'm always optimistic and a glass-half-full type of guy when it comes to looking at the year past and the upcoming year ahead. I think our best days are ahead of us and it's not worth it to complain about the past or be pessimistic about the future. I like to look at the future with excitement and anticipation. Right now, we might be heading into a recession, but where there's a disruption in the market, there's opportunity.I've always said that the three M's to success are marketing, momentum, and getting a mentor. Here, we dive into all three and how you can use each one to start your 2023 off on the right foot. If you want to dominate your niche, momentum is going to be really important. Also, now is not the time to slow down your marketing. Staying consistent builds up momentum. Even though you may get a lot of no's at first, just a few solid months of consistent effort will pay off. And don't be afraid to ask for help. Partner with a mentor who's been where you were and knows what it takes to succeed. What's Inside:—Why I'm optimistic about 2023.—The 3 M's to success.

Mindset, Movement and Manifestation: The Three M's to Getting What You Desire We are living in a time where the world is changing quickly. The way we view the world, and what's possible, is shifting. Mom Mindset, Mindset Manifestation Academy is a community of women who are on a mission to unlock their potential and make their dreams come true. We believe that our mindsets affect our manifestations, and that by changing our mindsets we can change the world. Our mission is to help you realize your potential for greatness, and help you reach your goals through mindset, movement and manifestation. In this bonus episode, I talk about Mindset, Movement and Manifestation. Movement is the physical action that you take to move your body, like going for a run or lifting weights. It's important to be physically active because it helps you feel good and gives your mind something to focus on while you're moving. Movement is also movement in your goals - taking aligned action toward your desires. We cannot make progress if we're not taking aligned actions. Mindset is how you think about yourself and your goals—your self-talk, basically. It's how you talk to yourself when you're feeling down or stressed out (or even when things are going well). This is important because it can either make or break your success in life! Manifestation is the ability to bring things into reality by focusing on them with intentionality and confidence; it's what allows us to manifest our dreams into reality! The three M's together form a powerful trifecta of manifesting power - allowing you to bring the things you desire into your life with more ease and purpose. Tune in to learn more!
