Présentée par Seb.  MÉS est un groupe de metal originaire de Haute-Marne lancé en 2013. Le nom du groupe provient du terme « més », racine à rapprocher du mot grec « métallon » , désignant le métal. Par ce choix, le groupe veut signifier qu'il ne se réfère pas qu'à un seul sous-genre du metal mais puise ses sources dans plusieurs branches. Le groupe est composé de Jean-Baptiste Batteault au chant et à la batterie, Hugo Coeurdassier à la basse, ainsi que de Nicolas Berchet et de Camille Philippe aux guitares. Le deuxième album The Scent Of Death est sorti en septembre 2023. Il a été mixé par David Potvin au Dome Studio. L'opus veut s'inscrire dans la continuité du premier album avec une pointe de modernité et des éléments plus progressifs, y mêlant également des sonorités issue de la musique classique. Buke sat down with frontman Viktor "Storm" Gullichsen for a wide ranging discussion surrounding this new album, what it's like to handle vocals, orchestration, writing, and producing, and so much more. Finnish melodic death metal outfit Brymir have a definitive sound all of their own.By combining folk elements with traditional and melodic death metal, the band produces a remarkably sounding amalgamation of style and culture that resonates long after each listen.After steering away from the folk elements noticeably on their last album, Brymir have again returned to their roots on Voices In The Sky which will be released on August 26.HEAVY caught up with frontman, writer, producer Viktor Storm Gullichsen to talk about the album."This is an interesting record for us,” he mused, “because we found a lot of new ways to express ourselves; we found our sonic identity by going back to our roots a little bit and exploring a bit more of the folk metal elements that we had almost abandoned in our previous record. We also took this new approach that we are leaning less on keyboards because we used to be a band with a keyboard player as a member so the writing was, for years, still in that kind of vein. Now we wanted to express everything that we can with the instruments that we have on stage, like all the lead melodies and stuff are done with vocals or guitar leads.
