Back in late July of this year, I had the opportunity to sit down with David Johns from the National Black Justice Coalition, a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer and same gender loving (LGBTQ/SGL) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA). NBJC’s mission is to end racism, homophobia, and LGBTQ/SGL bias and stigma. As America’s leading national Black LGBTQ/SGL civil rights organization focused on federal public policy, NBJC has accepted the charge to lead Black families in strengthening the bonds and bridging the gaps between the movements for racial justice and LGBTQ/SGL equality. David J. Johns is known for his passion, public policy acumen and fierce advocacy for youth. He is an enthusiast about equity—leveraging his time, talent and treasures to address the needs of individuals and communities often neglected and ignored. A recognized thought leader and social justice champion, David’s career has focused on improving life outcomes and opportunities for Black people. On September 1, 2017, David Johns began his next life chapter as the executive director of the National Black Justice Coalition (NBJC)—a civil rights organization dedicated to the empowerment of Black lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) people, including people living with HIV/AIDS. NBJC’s mission is to end racism, homophobia, and LGBTQ bias and stigma. We discuss his work at the NBJC, our work together with Chikesia Clemons and Anthony Wall along with a plethora of other things. The Context of White Supremacy hosts the weekly Compensatory Call-In. We encourage non-white listeners to dial in with their codified concepts, new terms, observations, research findings, workplace problems or triumphs, and/or suggestions on how best to Replace White Supremacy With Justice ASAP. We'll use these sessions to hone our use of words as tools to reveal truth, neutralize White people. We'll examine news reports from the past seven days and - hopefully - promote a constructive dialog. #ANTIBLACKNESS In Pennsylvania, a White-dominated jury found entertainment icon Bill Cosby guilty on three counts of sexual assault. The trailblazing black actor and comedian will be sentenced later this year and could be restricted to greater confinement for the remainder of his life. Speaking of predators, Travis Reinking, a White man, murdered four non-white people at a Tennessee Waffle House. He was eventually arrested and charged with murder. Mr. Reinking had a history of terroristic behavior; in 2017, he illegally crossed a White House security barrier and was taken into custody. Unlike Miriam I. Carey, a black mother who was shot and killed near the White House in 2013, enforcement officials did not deem Reinking a lethal threat last year. In the state of Alabama, where J. Marion Sims still has a statue, Bryan Stevenson and fellow organizers constructed "the country's first site dedicated to the legacy of black people lynched in the United States." Coincidentally, a black female, Chikesia Clemons, was mauled and stripped nude publicly in an Alabama Waffle House. #AvoidWaffleHouse INVEST in The COWS - http://paypal.me/GusTRenegade CALL IN NUMBER: 641.715.3640 CODE 564943#
