Jesus' metaphor of the Good Shepherd reveals his sacrificial love for his followers. His declaration about willingly “laying down his life for the sheep” highlights his unwavering devotion. This metaphor also alludes to the emerging Trinity. In John's Gospel, “Good Shepherd” applies to both Jesus & God the Father, underscoring their joint role in safeguarding believers unto eternity. This addresses fundamental questions for many Christians: “Can one forfeit their salvation?” “If one were to falter in faith, would God abandon them?” “Does our eternal destiny hinge on a lifelong commitment to faith?” In this context its vital to recall our rebirth into God's family; we are God's beloved children–not mere servants or slaves. Our status as God's children is immutable; it transcends performance-based evaluations. This enduring bond cannot be revoked or altered; therefore, we can be assured of eternal salvation.

In this episode, Craig and his better podcast half, Abby Cleckner, are joined by Peter Rollo, founder of the website and blog project Rival Nations. Pete shares the history of Rival Nations, why he started it, why he was anonymous for so long, and where the project is headed. If you've ever questioned if the world of politics, on any side, be it liberal, conservative, anarchist, or libertarian always seems prone to the ways of this world, to violence. This episode looks at why that is, and why we, as Christians are called to a different kingdom, and we must continue to abide by the ways of that Kingdom, the one Jesus showed us, rather than pursue earthly powers. Too often we find Christians falling into the fallacy that, if we just get more Christians elected into office things will change, and God's will can be implemented, with the right leaders, but this is the illusion we see Jesus reject time and time again in the Bible. How do we get to this conclusion? By looking at what Jesus has to teach us. In the second half of the episode, Pete breaks down his article, Christians Can't Be in Government, to show us exactly who is at the forefront of political power (hint: it is not God!). We see Israel fall when it turns to earthly Kings, and we see Jesus reject the role of Messiah, in an effort to show us God's way, not Man's. Rival Nations is a digital archive of Pete's theological journey, and it all started with seeing Jesus as a political force, not in his pursuit of political power, but, rather, in his rejection of it. What burdens are you carrying because you can't forgive yourself? If Jesus has forgiven you, do you also have to forgive yourself? Do you feel stuck there? Trapped in a cage of shame? I've been to therapy, I've been to counseling, and I was the host of a Christian radio show for 11 years. I'm attempting through this podcast to grow in Bible knowledge. When it comes to self-help, I've probably heard it all. So when I saw this article from The Gospel Coalition titled, “Say No to the Gospel of Self-Forgiveness,” my antenna went straight up. Self-forgiveness is like this core doctrine in our therapeutic culture. Writing in Psychology Today, psychotherapist Beverly Engel says, “I believe that self-forgiveness is the most powerful step you can take to rid yourself of debilitating shame.” But here's the vital question for Christians: Can you point to one example in Scripture of someone forgiving themselves? Well, I did the work for you and the answer is no. And guess what? That's incredibly liberating! You CAN'T offer yourself forgiveness. It doesn't work! You cannot release yourself of guilt. So what DOES Scripture say? We look at one example today in Psalm 51.If you would like to dive deeper into this, or other verses in the Bible, if you have a verse you would like to submit to have included in a future episode if have questions about the Bible that you would like answered in a bonus episode, or simply want to connect with me... text VERSED to 88474 or click hereAlso included in that link is a list of resources and references I use in this podcast and can help you grow deeper in your faith as well. This is a common passage broadly used for a variety of situations, and it fits. But the context goes a little deeper and you might be surprised at how much more effective the true message is. For a little insight, Christians CAN struggle with being closed-minded when the truth is presented - especially when that truth happens to convict. There's a temptation to speak hastily and angrily rather than listen. See what James has to offer here. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/cvku6S0HKCs Have a Bible question? The idea that the Bible is clear simply isn't clear. The Bible is murky on many issues and requires us to dig more deeply to have true understanding, rather than just believing what we've always been told. And it's important to know that true Christians CAN and DO interpret the Bible differently. In his weekly Bible chat, Paul Swearengin, or "Pastor Paul, the TikTok Pastor," shares ways to read the Bible and determine the "hills we die on" and those we hold loosely.

Point: The bible is full of promises that we love to express and even claim for others but somehow have a hard time believing that they are ours. Scripture: Psalm 91 Questions: 1. Read Psalm 91. Name some of God’s promises found in this passage. Explain. 2. Are there any prerequisites to obtaining the promises in Psalm 91? What does it mean to dwell in the shelter of the Most High? Explain. 3. What are some of the ways in which the enemy tries to discount the promises of God? 4. Does claiming God’s promises mean we will never suffer as Christians? Can you think of a time where God promises adversity? Explain. 5. What can you do to dwell in the presence of God this week? How can your Community Group challenge and encourage you in this?
Are you really trying to reach the lost or just look religious? - Most people claiming to be Christians Can’t Even Explain What They Believe. - Can you explain the Gospel? The question “What is the Gospel?” is perhaps the most important question a person can ask. The word Gospel literally means “good news.” We must be careful that we do not modify the gospel to suit various age groups. There is no such thing as a special gospel for the young, a special gospel for the middle-aged, and a special gospel for the aged. There is only one true gospel, and we must always be careful not to tamper and tinker with the gospel. The gospel has been defined by many people in many ways. But what does Scripture say the gospel is? the Scripture say Jesus Christ preached the message of the gospel . the Scripture say What that message is about, and the Scripture say why it is such good news?

“When I grow up I want to get married and be a mom or be a dad!” For many of us there are simple dreams in life that germinate in childhood. As we grow they blossom into clear and exciting expectations. This expectation of growing up and getting married is so basic and so obvious that we rarely entertain the thought of it NOT happening. What if as you grow through life and come to the time when this simple and expected event is supposed to happen...and it doesn’t? What if you spend your life being single? There are those who say that remaining unmarried can be amazing and awesome, and that’s great. It can also be a turbulent, discouraging and derailing experience that overshadows and overwhelms adulthood. How do single Christians find their way to not only coping with this “single” challenge but living their lives with contentment, clarity and conviction? Living a Christian life with peace and fulfillment in our current morally-corrupt world is a serious challenge. Add the dimension of being single and that challenge graduates to a critical level for most. Anywhere and everywhere you look it is ALL about relationships, all about attractiveness and all about sex. The message is abundant and clear – if you are not successfully attractive – if you are not commanding the attention necessary to fulfill your desires - then you are a failure. As a Christian single these distractions are constant, severe and even debilitating. Prayer is often the first place we would go to combat this challenge. The problem is, what do you pray for? Do you ask God to prepare you for a solid relationship? Do you ask God to give you that longed-for spouse? These are good, morally sound and biblically based desires. Shouldn’t you expect God to fulfill them? Let’s answer this question with an example. The Apostle Paul was an energetic and powerful leader in the early church. Though he lived his life in overdrive he also suffered from what he called a “thorn in the flesh.” What this thorn was is not relevant – the fact is he truly believed that he could serve God BETTER if he didn’t have it - so he prayed for its removal. This was a good desire and it fit within the most basic premise of Christianity...selflessness in following Jesus. God answered Paul’s prayer through Jesus and the answer was no. Why? There are many good and acceptable opportunities and conditions that we as Christians CAN be blessed with. However, those things are not necessarily what God wants to bless us with in His personal plan for us. Just ask the Apostle Paul! Check out our March 26, 2018 podcast, “Christian and Single – What Does Life Look Like?” and walk with us as we examine the five key areas of a single's life. Being a single Christian is not the end of the world. On the contrary it can be the beginning of a thrilling and opportunity-laden life experience. Finding the pathway to this fulfillment can be tricky but once found it will bring great peace!

There are many people who claim that they are Christians, but is it possible to determine if they truly are Christians? Can you know if they are genuine followers of Jesus? Have they truly been born again? In this episode, Kenny gives us four clear ways to determine if someone truly has been born again and determine if their faith in Christ in real or fraudulent. 1- Do they claim to have put their faith in Jesus? Do they believe that Jesus is God and that He raised from the dead? (John 3:16-17; Romans 10:9-10) 2- Do they really love God? (Luke 10:27; Matthew 22:37) 3- Are they truly committed to following the commandments of Jesus and living for Him? (John 14) 4- Is it obvious that they are engaging with the Spirit of God and growing in the fruit of the Spirit as a result of their engagement with the Spirit of God? (Galatians 5:22-23)
