The band Trapt had a moment in late 2003. The song “Headstrong” is a what a person who doesn't listen to heavy music might consider heavy, and it captured the attention of the mainstream for a minute. In a sea of countless radio rock band that more or less sounded the same, Trapt could've easily maintained a career of decent tours and festivals based on the success of “Headstrong” alone. Their vocalist, however, had other ideas of how they should make their mark…a string of hateful internet posting on the band's accounts. What followed was OBVIOUSLY the whiny cries of “cancel culture” affecting the band's career, as “consequences” was apparently not something he was prepared for. Bondscoach Ronald Koeman heeft de definitieve WK-selectie van het Nederlands elftal bekendgemaakt, en trapt daarmee ook de WK-voorpret af. Koeman staat er zelf vrij nuchter in en blijft ver weg van voorspellingen, al helemaal als het aankomt op een eventuele winst. "Als we eruit liggen, zijn we het twee dagen later weer vergeten. Ik heb er zin in", reageert Lucas Waagmeester, adjunct-hoofdredacteur van NOS Nieuws. Jan Slagter, directeur van Omroep MAX, hoopte op wat meer enthousiasme. "Ik ben meer van het kamp Van Gaal." Tegelijkertijd is er nu al veel te doen om hoe politiek beladen het WK zal worden, omdat het onder andere plaatsvindt in de VS en er ook behoorlijk wat internationale conflicten zijn op dit moment. Koeman heeft al aangegeven zich afzijdig te houden. "Het zal ook z'n weerslag hebben buiten de voetballerij", denkt Waagmeester.  Aan tafel zitten Lucas Waagmeester, Jan Slagter en Spraakmaker Michiel Klaassen.

Elon Musk heeft flinke kritiek op het AI-project dat Donald Trump samen met OpenAI, Softbank, Oracle en MGX heeft aangekondigd. In Zuid-Korea is de werkdag vanwege het tijdsverschil een aantal uur geleden al begonnen, behalve voor de werknemers van Samsung, want die zijn vandaag begonnen met een driedaagse staking. Werknemers verzamelden zich vanochtend bij het hoofdkantoor van Samsung in Hwaseong, ten zuiden van Seoul voor de eerste dag van de staking voor betere lonen, volgens de vakbond zullen ruim 6500 werknemers staken, en dan vooral op de productielocaties en de productontwikkeling. De National Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), de vakbond die opkomt voor de werknemers van Samsung wil niet alleen hogere lonen, maar ook een extra vakantiedag voor werknemers die bij een vakbond zijn aangesloten. Het is de tweede actie vanuit de vakbond, waar 30.000 Samsung werknemers bij zijn aangesloten - vorige maand liet de NSEU ook al van zich horen en ze vorige week dat er een nieuwe stakingsronde zou kunnen komen als de eisen deze keer niet worden gehoord. En dus vandaag is de daad bij het woord gevoegd, alleen zeggen analisten dat door de lage deelname en de geautomatiseerde productie het onwaarschijnlijk is dat de staking een grote impact zal hebben op de productie bij Samsung, je zou toch zeggen dat dat een belangrijk doel is van de staking, een beetje de boel ontwrichten.  Samsung zelf wilde nog geen commentaar geven op deze staking, maar leek van de actie vorige maand niet echt wakker te liggen - zeiden toen dat het geen impact had gehad op de productie - dus ben benieuwd of de staking tot iets zal leiden. Verder in deze Tech Update:  Bloomberg is even goed in Apple gedoken en komt met allemaal aardige ontdekkingen, en dan kan Apple AI niet ontbreken maar hadden ze ook nieuwe over de Apple Watch series 10 En dan heel goed nieuws: kans dat we straks niet meer zolang in de rij hoeven te staan bij de paspoortcontrole op Schiphol. Send us a Text Message.Scotty Austin isn't your ordinary or average run-of-the-mill rock star. With a remarkable track record playing across the United States, as well as being a multi-instrumentalist in numerous genres, it is clear he has a unique perspective when it comes to creating music. Hailing from Parsons, Tennessee, his interest in various instruments started at a young age when he began reading music in kindergarten while also gaining experience in the family band at church. By the late 90s, Scotty began expanding on his knowledge of music genres and branching out to multiple styles such as percussion and classical guitar performance before earning his spot as the band leader of the official NASCAR Rolling Thunder band for an entire season. His accomplishments continued when around the early 2000s, he won fourth place in the world during the International Blues Contest while representing Memphis, Tennessee.         Shortly after, Scotty collaborated with a new original group and recording artist, Ash Bowers, along with Jason Aldean's label, Broken Bow Records, as well as the sister label, Stoney Creek Records. It wasn't long until Scotty decided to start his own original project, an indie rock band called Trash the Brand. He had wanted to record and play songs that he had written but never had the chance to play. I will podcast unfulfilled! Happy holidays! To celebrate the season, we're talking about a game that has at least one time on the internet been compared to Home Alone, and that game is Trapt! Trapt is a game in which you prepare and trigger traps within a 3D environment to attack and kill your enemies. Unlike what you are probably imagining, the game plays nothing like a tower defense game or even a puzzle game. It is instead the clunkiest action game you've ever played. As you have to trigger traps manually with most of them affecting only a single tile or a row of tiles, most of the game consists of meticulously leading the pretty manipulable AI into specific parts of the map where all of your traps are set up to trigger them all at once. But this isn't all bad! Well, the gameplay is kind of a wash, but there is more to the game than that: the narrative and character work are also really bad! But in this case it is a major boon for the game, because if there is a reason to play it, it's likely for this absolute camp. Every enemy you kill has a backstory and unique entry and death dialogue, with some levels having up to ten enemies, and each stage begins and ends (at least) with a cutscene. There is a lot of story content to enjoy, and while the plot itself is pretty basic, and character's motivations seem very easily swayed, the melodrama of it all is very worth it. We're going to be talking about how the game itself plays and what we expected from it, the dialogue we found especially hilarious, and we defend our choice to make this a holiday episode. I've got some oomph in my bloom. Welcome back to the podcast! Today, we're talking about Super Mario Bros. Wonder, a new 2D Mario platformer, which in a weird way kind of feels like part of a trend of Nintendo making more nostalgic releases, like Pikmin or Metroid Dread and remaking Link's Awakening and Mario RPG. Mario Wonder is a classic 2D Mario game like we haven't seen since the New Super Mario Bros. games, but unlike those games, Wonder has a direct goal of making more innovations and changing the basic gameplay of Mario. This is a AAA video game, though, so don't expect something so radically different and risky, but with a more whimsical aesthetic and a surprising mechanical section in each level, it certainly feels much different than past games. And this is definitely a good thing, Wonder lives up to its name by giving you something new to discover in each course and encourages you to explore to ensure you see as much of it as you can. In addition, the game contains new powerups, a badge system that can change your moveset and the layouts of the world as well. All this to say, this game isn't the next best thing in the history of platformers or even just Mario. It is refreshing, and fun, and well designed and it looks and sounds very pretty, but it isn't going to stress your abilities, it isn't jam-packed with content and much of the gameplay is straight out of previous titles in the series. This makes up the bulk of our conversation: in a very mechanically driven genre, is what Mario Wonder provides different enough to be recommended despite the polish that comes with being a first party Nintendo title, is it too different, with differences in kind appearing partway through every single level while not giving the base platforming room to shine? We'll discuss this and also be talking about the importance of collectibles and how they influence you as you play, the difficulty management present in the badge and character systems, and we take a hard stance on how Toads are treated in the Mario canon.
