It's our podcast anniversary and this month we're scratching The Itch to celebrate! The Itch Rock Podcast debuted on May 9th, 2020, originally under the name "Rock Matters". What started as a replacement for our radio show when lockdown closed the station has now become a 5-year journey that's taken us across the country, the podcast world, and even into international waters all in the name of rock. Now, 300+ audio offerings (including 100+ artist interviews) later, we're going strong on our longest weekly interview streak to date. We'll be celebrating this month by bringing back some of our favorite guests and seeing many more in concert. To start the party, we're combining two features that were staples of our earlier shows but have become less frequent as we've focused on talking with our favorite artists: Short Cuts and games. This not-quite-a-full-episode bit was recorded shortly after our conversation with John Cooper of Skillet, when Aaron went down a deep, dorky rabbit whole of bands you could find in the kitchen. Enjoy our tastiest Short Cut, dubbed "The Music Menu", and let us know what delicious dishes you would add! If you like what you hear, you can hear more of us every Sunday night broadcasting rock to the masses from 6-9pm CST on KCLC-FM. If you're not in the St. Louis area, you can stream the show from 891thewood.com, TuneIn, Radio.net, and OnlineRadioBox! And if you have the itch to hear some of the best new tracks in rock, follow our New Rock Roundup playlist! For any and all friendship, questions, inquiries, and offers of pizza, The Itch can be found at the following: Website: itchrocks.com Facebook: Facebook.com/itchrocks Instagram: Instagram.com/itchrocks Email: itchrocks@gmail.com Thank you so much for listening. Even if you think your nonprofit is doing well, we've found you could be doing much better. However, most nonprofits don't have a clear development strategy that keeps them grounded. As a result, they "get creative" and "try new things" based on what is popular or trending, or they get comfortable with where they are at and don't realize the dangers they will be facing in just a few short years. The Perfect Vision Dinner Course is a 20-week "live video" course that addresses this problem head on. The course was developed by Jim Dempsey after 38+ years as a Senior Development Director at Cru. After Jim had personally done over 2,500 vision dinners in his lifetime and raised over $1 billion worldwide, Jim and Jason have partnered together to bring you Fundraising Masterminds. Our first course, The Perfect Vision Dinner is a time-tested proven formula that will introduce our development system and grow your nonprofit to its maximum potential. The course includes 20-hours of personalized development coaching from Jim Dempsey and Jason Galicinski and also includes a real-time community group where you have access to everyone attending the course and also our Masterminds throughout the course. The goal for this course is to fully equip you with a Biblical basis for Development so that you can Win, Keep and Lift new partners to higher levels of involvement with your nonprofit. → https://FundraisingMasterminds.netFOLLOW US ON SOCIAL MEDIA:→ Instagram: https://instagram.com/fundraising.masterminds→ Facebook: https://facebook.com/fundraising.mastermindsEpisode Keywords:gospel mission, hope in niagara falls, restoring hope in niagara falls, niagara gospel mission, niagara gospel mission raises $176K, the $10m story, the 10m story, 10m story, $10m story, Christian nonprofit leader, nonprofit leader, john cooper, perfect vision dinner, vision dinners, rescue mission, homeless shelter, perfect vision dinner mentorship program, urban ministry, fundraising, leadership, young life, jim dempsey, jason galicinski, fundraising masterminds, nonprofits.

In the Crito, Plato shows Socrates arguing that he is duty bound not to escape from prison even though a bribe would open the door, while in the Phaedo his argument is for the immortality of the soul which, at the point of death, might leave uncorrupted from the 'prison' of his body, the one escape that truly mattered to Socrates. His example in his last days has proved an inspiration to thinkers over the centuries and in no small way has helped ensure the strength of his reputation.WithAngie Hobbs Professor of the Public Understanding of Philosophy at the University of SheffieldFiona Leigh Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy at University College LondonAnd James Warren Professor of Ancient Philosophy at the University of Cambridge and Fellow of Corpus Christi College, CambridgeProducer: Simon TillotsonReading list:David Ebrey, Plato's Phaedo: Forms, Death and the Philosophical Life (Cambridge University Press, 2023)Dorothea Frede, ‘The Final Proof of the Immortality of the Soul in Plato's Phaedo 102a-107a' (Phronesis 23, 1978)W. In this episode of Crime Time, Inc., we dive deep into the chilling case of John Cooper, a seemingly ordinary Welshman who earned the nickname 'The Bullseye Killer.' Cooper's story takes an unsettling turn after his appearance on the game show Bullseye in 1989, followed by a double murder just weeks later. We explore Cooper's early life as a career criminal, his brief brush with fortune in 1978, and his downward spiral into violent crime. The episode details the brutal Pembrokeshire murders, including the 1985 killing of Richard and Helen Thomas and the 1989 murders of Peter and Gwenda Dixon. Cooper's ability to evade capture for years, his manipulation of those around him, and the eventual breakthrough in the case through advancements in forensic science are discussed in depth. We also highlight the role of journalist Jonathan Hill in obtaining crucial evidence and how the collaboration between media and law enforcement was pivotal in bringing Cooper to justice. Furthermore, we touch on the possibility of Cooper's involvement in other unsolved cases and the ongoing quest for justice in the community of Pembrokeshire. This episode serves as a stark reminder of the complexities of human behavior and the relentless pursuit of truth in solving even the most challenging crimes.00:00 Introduction to the Bullseye Killer00:37 John Cooper's Early Life and Criminal Background01:30 The Pembrokeshire Murders02:36 The Brutal Attack on Teenagers and Family Abuse04:56 The Long Road to Justice06:31 The Role of Forensic Science and Media07:15 Unsolved Cases and Potential Further Victims08:23 Reflections on Justice and Community Impact12:31 Closing Thoughts and Upcoming Episodes Hosted on Acast. Shortly after releasing their first independent record ever, John Cooper from the legendary rock band Skillet hops on a call with Hudson & Aly from The Hudson Show to discuss why the band has never released a Christmas song and more!
Retired FBI agent and criminal profiler Candice DeLong explores the case of John Cooper, also known as the “Bullseye Killer.” In the ‘80s, Cooper committed two double murders in the Welsh county of Pembrokeshire in the UK. Throughout the following decade, Cooper would commit a series of other crimes, like burglary and sexual assault – but it would take nearly another decade for authorities to link him to the killings. Candice dives into the psyche of Cooper, exploring how his addiction to gambling and alcohol might have pushed him into a life of crime, and how his false sense of invincibility – like his decision to appear on a popular game show after committing a heinous crime – ultimately led to his downfall.Be the first to know about Wondery's newest podcasts, curated recommendations, and more! This helps us springboard into Skille's new music where they tackle the hardships we are all going through and the feeling of isolation in a time of uncertainty. When living in a postmodernistic and relativistic culture and society where people are placing preferences over principles, often times we need to be reminded that Truth is nonnegotiable. There is only One absolute standard of Truth which is the Word of God, and in these days we need men and women of faith to be bold and courageous in stepping up, standing on, and speaking the Truth in love. For this reason, our guest today is the co-founder and lead vocalist and bassist for the 22x platinum band, Skillet, one of the best-selling Christian rock bands of the 21st century, John Cooper. You may know many of Skillet's songs such as “Hero”, “Anchor”, “Stars,” “Victorious” or “Monster.” However, on November 1st, John and Skillet released their 12th album with the title ‘Revolution' stating that the revolution they are referencing is not a political one or a militaristic one, but rather it is a revolution of loving your neighbor as yourself. Additionally, John is the author of Awake & Alive to Truth: Finding Truth in the Chaos of a Relativistic World, which we are also going to be discussing today. If you're ready to be encouraged and motivated for such a time as this, I would encourage you to tune in and be a part of this Revolution!
