By 1962, though, Richard had returned to rock & roll, touring Britain to an enthusiastic reception. Among the groups that supported him on those jaunts were the Rolling Stones and the Beatles, whose vocals (Paul McCartney's especially) took a lot of inspiration from Richard's. In 1964, the Beatles cut a knockout version of "Long Tall Sally," with McCartney on lead, that may have even outdone the original. It's been speculated that the success of the Beatles, and other British Invaders who idolized Richard, finally prompted the singer into making a full-scale comeback as an unapologetic rock & roller. Hooking up with Specialty once again, he had a small hit in 1964 with "Bama Lama Bama Loo." These and other sides were respectable efforts in the mold of his classic '50s sides, but tastes had changed too much for Richard to climb the charts again. He spent the rest of the '60s in a continual unsuccessful comeback, recording for Vee-Jay (accompanied on some sides by Jimi Hendrix, who was briefly in Richard's band), OKeh, and Modern (for whom he even tried recording in Memphis with Stax session musicians). Less than a year ago, Chase decided to try to CON....(Cough)... convince millennials that they were cool by setting up a mobile app only bank account called Finn. Finn sounded like the kid with the drugs at a party. It was cool for a while. Access to a lot of ATM's. Emoji (WTF?!?) used to help manage your money. Sounds neat-o, cool kids.... Then they realized only 47,000 people signed up for it, a lot of them mainly for the $100 bonus they were offering. To put into perspective, BofA has about 65,000,000 clients. Wow. What a bomb. Today's podcast is about the failure of Finn, but more about why you shouldn't BS young kids who are fierce on social media about products and services and lose trust very easily. Learn how banks ignore the fact that young people CAN have a lot of money and a lot of reasons you should want them, even if they don't go to college. Learn how Chase probably did themselves a favor by giving these young cats a free account (for now) and invite them into the branch to learn more about the Finn expats. I discuss how an observation in my grandmother's house the final time I saw her brought on memories of how my former company, Bank of America handled deceased customers account. Learn how the phrase "Eew" is apropos for their Enterprise Estate Unit (EEU) which handles their deceased clients accounts. I share stories of customers I lost, and using those stories as examples for what you should do if you are preparing for end of life, or having a family member prepare for it. THERE ARE 2 VERY IMPORTANT SUGGESTIONS TO HEAR IN THIS PODCAST!!!! Learn how Bank of America held $29 for several months because my client chose to accidentally die in another state, and learn how Bank of America asked for a 40 year old death certificate from a person that was never technically their client. Today we touch upon the interesting subject of being introduced to credit cards. I discuss how my grandma overspending in the last 1980s was my first introduction to credit cards, and how her use shaped my life going forward. Then, I discuss the most interesting Bank of America story I read in a long time. Did you know that Bank of America invented the credit card? Did you know that Bank of America sent 60,000 credit cards with today's equivalent of $4,000 on them to people who didn't want them, ask for them, or even knew they existed? Did you know they sent them to one small town in 1958 where people weren't as financially savvy as a big city would be? Did you know that although the initial project failed, it led to a world where we OWE BANKS NEARLY 1 TRILLION DOLLARS? Poor Fresno, CA. They didn't know what hit them. I discuss how the hell something so bizarre in forcing credit onto people led to the way you now bank! It's an interesting listen to say the least. I will discuss the details of the day, the subsequent stress of knowing that I was being targeted for termination, and my theory of how BofA overempowers certain employees with supervisory tools that they can retroactively go back and nail you on. Tried not to make it personal.. But you know... I got fired for a silly reason. Serious Topic: May is National Mental Health Awareness month, and I have been excited to talk about the topic of mental health on this podcast. I will discuss my own battles with depression, stress, binge drinking, and other issues that stemmed from my time at Bank of America (More of the serious stories will appear in my book) I will tell you how banks make employees feel like you are obliged to accept their abuse of power and incessant nitpicking. Plus I will also discuss the impact on customers, where working in the branch became a petri dish of crazy human emotion that was spurred by the policies and decisions that banks made to their clients. You will also hear me discuss how I witnessed threats of domestic violence while sitting in my office helping that was brought on by the unhelpful attitudes of Bank of America, and most certainly copied every other bank. (Some Adult Language in that discussion) Really Hard Podcast to do, but it needs to be done. Plus I announce how I am going to give back to charity for every part of my project. Plus one fun, if not sad, topic. Bank of America used to have a bunch of locations on the way to Vegas in Arizona. Learn about two more closures happening soon that impact how people just outside of Phoenix and Vegas will bank. It's snake eyes for BofA in Bullhead City, AZ. Bank of America introduced this product as a free account as long as you didn't bug them inside the branch. You can go to the ATM and do your business and get electronic statements. If you bothered them, they would charge you $8.95 to do your banking inside. Learn why I believe this planted the seed for future non-teller banking, and helped eliminate a lot of "problem" customers in the eyes of the bank. Those who stuck around years later then found out, that not bugging the bank actually was charging them, and even more than the original eBanking account itself Link to old article about eBanking: https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20100809006034/en/Bank-America-Introduces-New-eBanking-Checking-Account eBanking ending: https://www.charlotteobserver.com/news/business/banking/article195981344.html ONE PENNY IS DONATED TO CHARITY FOR EVERY PODCAST PLAY!!! Bank of America announces that it will pay a $20 minimum wage. Sounds good right? Even I can't think that's bad...Right? Haha Yes, I can. Not for reasons why you think. PRESS RELEASE https://newsroom.bankofamerica.com/press-releases/corporate-and-financial-news/bank-america-raise-minimum-wage-20-hour In this podcast, I will explain why the entry level positions deserve so much more. How I went from a bank with 12 employees to 4 while my pay doubled, and how it'll likely be 2-3 when the raise takes effect. I also mention about a previous program BofA had a decade ago to share profits with employees that went away when they started making serious dough. I also mention, be ready for a $50 overdraft fee, no sales bonus for bankers, and higher goals for bankers. Towards the end of the podcast, I will explain where I was when I heard the news, and why I couldn't just run out and do this pod. Hint, it involves blood. So the solution to making the bank modern is to not have your butt hurt on a lumpy couch or chair apparently. Bank of America's Press Release on April 5th about the drive to modernize 2500 branches made me laugh and cringe, as you should as well. In today's podcast we talk about how they twist words in the press release, essentially telling you that wi-fi and comfy couches will silence your complaining while waiting for limited staff in the "new bank model" Learn how, despite surveys saying demand for in-person banking fell in the last two years, Bank of America is "growing" by 500 branches, despite the fact they have closed as many, if not more, in the last few years. Learn how when they max out a market and/or train clients to not go in, they move on. Also, discover how the new banks are a godsend to BofA as they get a clean slate to train their clients not to be reliant on teller transactions. I analogize it to potty training.. SEE HOW! Finally, a second insane statement about helping Low to Middle Income folks. Learn how it almost reads like a free health clinic in it's description, cites accessibility to bankers as "moving forward with technology" and how tailored "financial solutions" is basically you and a kiosk, with the promise of "seminars" that just sound like timeshare pitches to poor people. Learn how they will encourage minimal down payment to make the properties more valuable in the event the sell mortgages to other companies. Also, why are they reinvesting into communities and people that they have been abandoning???? How do I compare this to Kohl's Buy one Get one Free sales? Find out in the podcast! Got Stress? The Zen Teacher is On Call… A Conversation with Dan Tricarico A teacher for over 25 years, Dan Tricarico loves his work, even views his classroom as a sanctuary of sorts.  Teachers like Dan are passionate people.  He, like most of us, chose this career to positively impact the world.  Think about it.  All the students in our classrooms have their own “stories” as Dan calls them.  They’ve got their stuff to deal with – family drama, pressure from grades, hurt feelings from a friend. We have our stuff – the car needs tires, stacks of papers to mark. Now, pile on innumerable tests, pacing guides, meetings, and even school safety. Dan’s two books and his professional development arose from his own experiences with work-related stress.  This inspiring educator provides us with pragmatic strategies that help us stay relaxed, focused, and in the moment with our kids.  Because teachers need to take care of themselves in order to take care of students.  To keep the passion alive, a little self-care if needed…and Dan’s the perfect person to help us take a little weight off our shoulders.   Yippee!  Dan has just posted “Zen Teacher Activity Worksheets.” Self-Care is a Click Away: https://myedexpert.com/vendor/dtricarico/ • Dan’s Website / Blog / Books:  https://www.thezenteacher.com/ • Follow Dan on Twitter

Isn't it just the coolest thing ever when you see a peer of yours do amazing things with their business?? We are totally excited to have Erin Brant on the show this week because she is totally doing that and more!! She recently finished her Clickin Moms Breakout (The Happy Now) which was a huge success AND she just announced she'll be presenting at Click Away 2018!! She joined us this week to chat about FUN! She is a big believer in candid photography... as in, prioritizing play over posing and she's here to tell us exactly what that means and how she tends to run her shoots! Key Takeaways Establish expectations with your clients. Clients who are in the market for candid photography can be difficult because sometimes they don't quite know exactly what they want. They might THINK they want all candid shots but then once the shoot starts it's clear they'd like some posed shots too. Erin makes sure to outline her expectations of the shoot beforehand. She knows a few shots she wants to get, and once those are done she can let the family play around and hang out. It's always a great idea to grab some posed shots along with your candid photography, because that gives the client some variety and options. Develop a rapport with the kids. Candid photography sessions are the perfect opportunity to chat & laugh with the kids in the family! You can point out cool stuff for them to do (look for shells, build a sand castle, play tag, etc) that helps you grab those candid shots you need. The more you connect with the kids, the more relaxed everyone will be and the better chance you have of getting great candid photos. Don't be afraid to get some more calm, emotional moments as well. Consider asking kids questions about their family like "what do you love about your mom?" to help this along & help the kids connect with their parents. These shoots are especially great for shy kids, who can totally just cuddle up with their mom or dad and not have to worry about standing still and smiling at the camera for an hour. Ideally, you'll reach the point where the camera isn't the focus at all. "Don't miss the great while looking for the perfect." Ooh isn't that such a good quote from Erin?? I LOVE IT! We can get so caught up with making sure everything is absolutely perfect that we miss the moments. I know I've had times where I'm messing with settings or something & miss a great TRUE candid moment between family members. If you connect with your clients in a real way, you'll see moments you might otherwise miss. Don't be afraid to let yourself get really personal with the family. Focus on the experience... if the family had a really great time at the shoot, they'll reflect that feeling when viewing the images. They won't care as much about a hair out of place or a crooked shirt... they'll be thinking of the fun they had as a family that day & the moments that were captured. If it isn't clear yet, Erin is an absolute rockstar when it comes to beautiful, candid photography & capturing deep, meaningful images of her clients! Be sure to download & listen to the full episode... it's a great one! And check out Erin online below!
