BREAKING: Delphi Murder Trial Judge Frances Gull Retires—Her Press Release Ignores Richard Allen Entirely

Major breaking news out of Indiana today. Judge Frances Gull—the special judge who presided over Richard Allen's trial for the murders of Abby Williams and Libby German—has announced she is retiring from the bench after nearly three decades. Her official press release celebrates her work with veterans and Drug Court, touting her commitment to "second chances, rehabilitation, and redemption."What the press release doesn't mention is Delphi. Not a single word about the case that made her a household name in true crime circles worldwide. That silence is notable because Richard Allen's defense team has filed a 113-page appeal alleging that Gull's rulings systematically denied Allen his constitutional right to present a complete defense. The brief documents exclusion after exclusion: the eyewitness sketch that didn't match Allen, the forensic expert who could have challenged the bullet evidence, the audio from videos showing Allen's mental deterioration, evidence of alternative suspects with pagan ritual connections, and evidence of a bungled investigation.Meanwhile, Gull admitted a Google search conducted mid-trial to salvage the State's timeline.Allen is serving 130 years. Gull is retiring to spend time with her grandchildren. The Indiana Court of Appeals will now review whether the trial she ran meets constitutional standards.Today on True Crime Today, we examine the judicial record Frances Gull leaves behind—and what the appeals court will have to untangle.#JudgeGull #FrancesGull #Delphi #DelphiMurders #RichardAllen #AbbyAndLibby #LibbyGerman #AbbyWilliams #DelphiTrial #WrongfulConvictionJoin Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? You can read their statements at PrisonersForPalestine.org and check out our November 30, 2025 episode for some background on the cases. Xinachtli From Xinachtli's support crew (Instagram at @FreeXinachtliNow): On January 1, Xinachtli (state name Alvaro Luna Hernandez) was transferred to the Carol Young Medical Facility. In the moment, this was a major victory getting him moved from McConnell, and Xinachtli shared that he felt the power of the people! However this victory was short-lived. The transfer was carried out without any notice to his attorney, and made Xinachtli unable to communicate with them before his latest court hearing on January 6, effectively blocking his right to counsel. Within days of the transfer, we also learned that Xinachtli had been placed in a cell with no running water, and a broken sink and toilet. In Xinachtli's words: "They bring me a bowl of water. I first use it to drink, and then I use the rest for hygiene for the remainder of the day. I also have not been able to flush the toilet in days. Prison conditions in the U.S. are deeply dehumanizing. For Xinachtli, who is attempting to recover after months of medical neglect, these conditions risk further delaying his recovery and compounding the harm he has already endured. We know that applying pressure works. A director of TDCJ called organizers earlier this month begging for an end to the "hundreds of calls." Contrary to their request, we will not stop until Xinachtli is FREE. Xinachtli's current demands are: That he be moved to a cell with running water and functioning plumbing. That he receive his ID card so he can purchase needed items and receive his commissary order from January 2. That he receive all of his personal property from the McConnell Unit. To learn how to advocate for these three FAM leaders now at Kilby CI and read the press release announcing the upcoming strike actions, check our shownotes : following their announcement of an upcoming labor strike, Melvin Ray, Robert Earl Council (Kinetik Justice), and Raoul Poole — three prominent voices in the film "The Alabama Solution" — were taken to Kilby Prison. In anticipation of the strike, the AL Dept. of Corrections has also reduced access to food in its prisons. This is a dangerous violation of [prisoners] constitutional rights. Call Kilby: (534) 215-6600 Demand they keep these men — and all those in state custody — safe. The Press Release announcing the strike is here: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE December 2, 2025 FREE ALABAMA MOVEMENT (FAM) ANNOUNCES STATEWIDE SHUTDOWN ADOC 2026 Effective February 8, 2026 Alabama — The Free Alabama Movement (FAM) announces a coordinated, statewide shutdown of Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) facilities beginning February 8, 2026. This nonviolent action comes in response to decades of unconstitutional sentencing practices, forced prison labor, and the ongoing humanitarian crisis throughout Alabama's prison system. With the release of the documentary The Alabama Solution, state officials can no longer deny or ignore the overwhelming evidence that Alabama's prison system is in catastrophic failure and requires immediate, sweeping reform. The documentary exposes systemic corruption, violence, and deliberate neglect that incarcerated people have endured for generations. The truth is no longer hidden behind prison walls — it is publicly available, undeniable, and morally urgent. Despite federal investigations, DOJ findings, and repeated warnings, the State of Alabama has failed to enact meaningful change. Therefore, incarcerated people across the state are exercising their lawful right to peaceful protest through a statewide shutdown and work stoppage. LIST OF DEMANDS Repeal Alabama's Habitual Felony Offender Act (HFOA) Abolish the outdated and excessively punitive enhancement statute that has produced life and virtual-life sentences far beyond any rehabilitative purpose and out of step with modern standards of justice. Make the Presumptive Sentencing Guidelines Retroactive Apply current presumptive sentencing standards to all eligible prior convictions so that people sentenced under older, harsher laws can receive the same fair and consistent treatment as those sentenced today. Make HJR 575 Retroactive (Drive-By Shooting Statute Reform) Apply the legislative clarification of Alabama's drive-by shooting statute retroactively so that individuals who were improperly charged or enhanced under the statute can receive review and relief. First-Time Offender / Capital Murder Reform Bill Create revised sentencing options for first-time offenders and end Juvenile Life Without Parole by providing parole eligibility after 20 years, recognizing the capacity for growth, change, and rehabilitation. Parole Board Reform and Clear, Objective Criteria Mandate transparent written standards, meaningful hearings, and review procedures that ensure fair, non-arbitrary parole decisions for every eligible incarcerated person. Medical Furlough & Compassionate Release Expansion Expand and enforce mechanisms for the release of elderly, terminally ill, severely disabled, and medically fragile individuals so they can receive appropriate care in the community instead of dying in prison. Establish a Statewide Conviction Review Unit Create an independent conviction review body with the authority and resources to investigate wrongful convictions, excessive sentences, and cases involving prosecutorial or judicial misconduct. Abolish Forced Prison Labor End uncompensated and coerced prison labor by guaranteeing fair wages, voluntary participation, safe working conditions, and basic labor protections for incarcerated workers. Strengthening Families Act (Including Conjugal Visits) Implement policies that protect and strengthen family bonds, including conjugal and overnight family visits, expanded contact visitation, increased access to phone and video communication, and parenting and family-support programs. STATEMENT FROM FAM "For decades, incarcerated men and women in Alabama have lived in conditions that violate human rights, constitutional protections, and basic dignity. With the undeniable evidence now in the open, we are left with no alternative but to demand justice through collective, peaceful action. This shutdown is not an act of hostility — it is an act of survival, truth, and human rights." Bennu Hannibal Ra-Sun Kinetic Justice Amun CALL TO ACTION We call upon: Civil rights and justice organizations Faith-based institutions National human rights observers State and federal officials Families, supporters, and the public to stand in solidarity and demand immediate reform of Alabama's prison system. In this in-depth conversation, we welcome back Mickie Kennedy, founder of eReleases, to break down how strategic press releases are still one of the most powerful — and misunderstood — tools for business growth. Mickie reveals why 97% of press releases fail, how entrepreneurs can access PR Newswire at a fraction of the cost, and why thinking like a journalist — not a marketer — is the key to getting earned media coverage. We also explore how AI platforms, social media creators, influencers, and journalists now rely on press releases for real-time content, why recency matters for AI search results, and how service-based businesses (including health coaches and consultants) can leverage press releases without selling physical products. If you're tired of paid ads, low trust marketing, or getting lost in the noise, this episode will change how you think about PR, visibility, and authority forever. What You'll Learn in This Episode Why 97% of press releases never get picked up — and how to be in the 3% that do How to distribute press releases nationally through PR Newswire for 25–33% of the normal cost The biggest mistake businesses make when writing press releases How earned media consistently outperforms paid ads in trust and conversions Why AI tools (like ChatGPT and search assistants) pull from press releases How press releases help businesses show up in AI recommendations Why recency beats authority in AI-driven search results How influencers, TikTok creators, and Instagram media professionals use press releases How health coaches, consultants, and service providers can use press releases effectively Why storytelling, case studies, and quotes matter more than product features How to use AI the right way when writing press releases (and what NOT to outsource to AI) Why TV, morning shows, and digital media still matter — and how to pitch them visually How to structure press release campaigns for long-term ROI instead of one-off wins Key Topics Covered Press Release Strategy Earned Media vs Paid Advertising PR Newswire Access AI Search & Content Discovery Media Relations in the Social Media Era PR for Small Businesses & Entrepreneurs PR for Health Coaches & Service Providers Using AI in Public Relations Storytelling & Case Studies in Marketing About the Guest Mickie Kennedy is the founder of eReleases, a press release distribution service that provides affordable access to PR Newswire while teaching businesses how to write strategic, journalist-friendly press releases that actually get results. Save Marine Air Terminal At LaGuardia

As you read this, we learn that the pioneering Marine Air Terminal (MAT) at LaGuardia Airport, where all scheduled international aviation in New York City took off in 1940, that we as an air cargo publication, if you can believe it, were miraculously lucky enough to save from destruction in 1980, well, the same Marine Air Terminal, i.e. the building that attained Landmark Preservation status, could be in immediate danger of being thoughtlessly altered out of existence by the airport operator The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.     This plan, as we read their presser if enacted, endangers the most historically important commercial aviation structure in The United States of America, dating back to the beginnings of international aviation serving our country's greatest metropolis New York City.     Here is what the presser states, reiterating it twice:     “The plan calls for replacing the 85-year-old Terminal A to meet demand and continued passenger growth while respecting the building rotunda's landmark status.     “A top-to-bottom rebuilding of Terminal A at LaGuardia while preserving the landmark rotunda.”     MAT is comprised of a central circular core of two stories with an attic from which a rectangular entrance pavilion and two symmetrically opposed one-story wings project.     The presser clearly states the plan is to save the central core and erase the rest of the building?     Press Release is clear and dangerous given Port Authority history at MAT since 1948.      We are grateful for the opportunity to remind everyone of what the LaGuardia Airport's operator inflicted upon this pioneering facility in 1952.     During 1940-42, Artist James Brooks as part of the WPA Federal Arts program painted the mural titled “Flight” on the upper walls of the MAT lobby. ‘Flight” at 237.5 circular and 12 feet high was the largest work of the WPA program.      The Port Authority in 1952-3 in that clean-up program painted over and covered the entire mural with drab grey wall paint.     “Flight” remained covered and forgotten, a giant blank wall in a public space and it stayed that way for nearly three decades when, as Air Cargo News, we discovered LaGuardia's Hidden Art Treasure and devised a plan to bring it back.     Now in 2025, it appears, if we read their presser correctly, the Port Authority wants to alter and change the MAT again, this time from the outside, after they had once upon a time, changed it from the inside out when they erased “Flight” from the upper Rotunda walls.      Keeping the entire MAT intact, observation decks and all, as it was built in 1939 is in our view essential, and matters to aviation history for one simple reason; here after World War II the MAT served every international flag airline that launched ongoing scheduled aerial service as the one and only scheduled way in and out of the world's greatest city.     MAT was the USA connection to Europe from 1940 until the opening of Idlewild Airport, (now JFK International) in 1948.     Airlines from around the world serving New York City and thus the United States of America, operated via this tiny art-deco jewel of a building. BOAC (now British Airways/IAG), Air France, Trans World Airlines, SAS (Scandinavian), American Overseas Airways, Pan American and countless others all began their operations here.     Designers of MAT were Delano and Aldrich who also created most of the original LaGuardia Airport that opened in 1939.     Worth noting, a few years prior to their LaGuardia Airport effort Delano and Aldrich designed and built the Pan Am Flying boat base at Dinner Key-Coconut Grove, Florida that opened in 1936.     Today that Dinner Key Building, sister to the MAT at LGA, remains in full use intact, whilst serving the City of Miami as Miami City Hall.

Investigative journalists Mandy Matney and Liz Farrell expose a shocking case of alleged retaliation at Horry County Police Department. When CIT Investigator Kelsey Manemeit filed a sexual harassment complaint against Deputy County Administrator Randy Webster—whose name adorns a $24 million building—she expected justice. Instead, she and county PIO Mikayla Moskov were accused of participating in a allegedly fabricated "sex scandal" and forced to resign. Attorney Jonny McCoy shares how HCPD Chief Kris Leonhardt allegedly weaponized an internal affairs investigation to punish women who reported misconduct, while Webster quietly retired with his reputation intact. Today we examine disturbing text messages, questionable timelines, and a pattern of alleged corruption in the same department that failed Mica Francis Miller and Scott Spivey. Did transparency claims mask retaliation, and why did this case represent a reckoning for Horry County's Good Ole Boy network? Down syndrome, also known as Trisomy 21, is a common genetic condition affecting roughly 1 in 700 live births in the United States. A recent study that came out in February 2025 that studied skin cells from an individual with Down syndrome to determine if it was possible to genetically engineer the extra chromosome out of the DNA. This study's aim was to see if it was possible to use CRISPR-CAS9 (a technology used to modify genetic code and expression), to be able to completely knock out a chromosome. The reason these researchers used the DNA from an individual with Down syndrome was because the third chromosome is a clear marker that they can see easily to determine if they were successful or not. However, one Press Release article covering this research wrote a piece that incorrectly frames the study as a possible way to "cure" Down syndrome, which is not at all what the researchers were attempting to do. This week, Dr. Jonathan Karp and student producer Kaya Basatemur go through the details of this study, what the scientists' goals were, and why the Press Release article did not accurately describe anything that the researchers did. Tune in to find out more about this interesting study, possible future research, and practical uses of CRISPR-CAS9 genome editing technology!
