Welcome to Sylvan Way and thanks for joining us as we worship Jesus! Title: By Grace Through Faith | Grace Does Not Excuse Sin What does it mean to be saved by grace through faith? In Ephesians 2:8–9, Paul gives one of the clearest summaries of the gospel: salvation is not earned by works, but received as a gift from God. But to understand grace, we first need to understand who God is. God is love, and God is holy. Because God is holy, sin must be judged. Because God is love, sinners can be saved. At the cross, God's holiness and love meet—Jesus pays the price for sin so that dead sinners can be made alive in Christ. This message unpacks the danger of reducing God to only love without holiness, or only wrath without mercy. The biblical gospel gives us both: we were dead in sin and deserving judgment, but God, rich in mercy, saved us by grace through faith. Big Idea: Grace does not excuse sin; grace raises dead sinners to life. Message Outline 1. God is holy, so sin must be judged Sin separates us from God, earns death, and requires judgment. 2. God is love, so sinners can be saved God does not leave us dead in sin. He moves toward us in mercy through Jesus. 3.
