On Nitro Eric Bischoff has an oppurtunity to win WCW back when he faces David Flair in a one on one match, the nWo stop a tag title tournament match, and the show gets headlined with a Bam Bam Bigelow vs Goldberg vs Scott Hall triple threat match. The WWF make final preparations for their 1999 Royal Rumble PPV. Stone Cold Steve Austin opens the show with a promo, and the show ends with Corporate Kane vs The Corporate Champion.
This week on the show we get into the latest Holiday Bash offering from AEW. Shida vs. Hayter was a banger, so if you haven't already seen it, you should seek it out. We also checked in on the Retro Raw as they are starting to build to the 1999 Royal Rumble. Vince McMahon consumes so many raw eggs in a training montage. Other than that, it was a bit of a slow week on the wrestling front, and it happens from time to time. We will be back next week with some Wrestle Kingdom thoughts and a look back at what we most enjoyed in 2022.
We continue our lore keeping journey on Following Lucha this week by watching and analyzing season 1 episode 24 of El Ray Network's Lucha Underground, “Trios Champions.” From Black Lotus hating the come man who kidnapped her, to Sexy Star politicking for a win over Pentagon Jr, to Vampiro's band of boys in the back, to The Crew getting screwed out of becoming the first trios champs, episode 24 was sick! We also talk wrestling in the week of April 22, 2015, as Taz officially quits TNA, John Cena starts using the springboard stunner, WWE starts accepting auditions for Tough Enough, and Cena's U.S. Open Challenge is answered by Corporate (peak) Kane. Also, Eddie Kingston swings at Sammy Guevara backstage, Thunder Rosa gets injured and has HEAT with like everyone, CM Punk got squashed by Jon Moxley, the IWGP Women's Title was revealed, and The Miz will battle Rey Mysterio on Family Feud! Ahoy! This week, we look at Bayley giving her character a real standout moment in both episodes, Baron Corbin is the lone wolf at last, Xavier Woods continues an odd mini feud with Corporate Kane, Neville and Tyler Breeze have a very fun interaction, Dave and Adam disagree over a tornado tag team match, can their friendship survive? Dave does Triple H karaoke, Neville and Breeze escalates into one hell of a match that sets the tone early for 2014, Kofi Kingston does things against Rusev, Dave suggests a Bo Dallas/Mojo Rawley Tory tag team of Bojo, and so much more! From Montreal To Memphis! Aaron and Reg have been watching wrestling together forever. Every day they harass each other with stupid things from the world of wrestling. Whether it be joking about either's inadequacy or crank calling Crystal's dad and demanding that he put Crystal on the phone they are always up for a laugh. In this episode, Reg watches the RAW from October 27th 1997 and Aaron compare it to a RAW from the same date in 2014. Which held up better? Which worse? Which was devoid of any humanity? It's early DX versus the Authority and original Kane versus Corporate Kane on Montreal To Memphis!
March 15th, 1999: The Rock and "The Big Show" Paul Wight are still at odds, so Vince McMahon comes up with an idea: have them team up tonight to face the team of "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and Mankind. And speaking of Mr. McMahon, The Undertaker continues to torment him by showing up at his home in Connecticut to threaten his family. And later, The Big Boss Man steps into a steel cage for a "Hard Times Match" against Mideon, who ends up paying the price for The Undertaker's antics. Triple-H and Corporate Kane continue their feud by brawling with each other around ringside.... until the segment ends with a shocking result. Both members of The New Age Outlaws get chances at singles titles as "The Road Dogg" Jesse James faces WWF Intercontinental Champion Val Venis while Billy Gunn goes one-on-one with WWF Hardcore Champion Hardcore Holly. WWF European Champion Shane McMahon requests a Handicap Match against a legendary tag team, but things may not be what they seem. WWF Tag Team Champions Jeff Jarrett & Owen Hart defend their titles against Public Enemy, a team that is apparently no longer wanted in the company. While shilling her new issue of Playboy, Sable gets interrupted by Tori, which leads to one of the worst promos in wrestling history. Plus, fans in the arena get deafened by buzzsaws as a team of carpenters builds a special structure for Jim Ross while the show is going on! Enjoying the Podcast? February 13th, 1999: In what is STILL the biggest crowd ever for an episode of "Raw," the WWF packs over 41,000 fans into The SkyDome for a special Saturday night episode! Vince McMahon orders WWF Champion Mankind to face "Stone Cold" Steve Austin in a non-title match, but those plans may change by the end of the night. For some reason, The Rock has a match with, of all people, Steve Blackman. X-Pac faces a daunting challenge when he is ordered to compete against Corporate Kane. The Ken Shamrock/Val Venis feud continues to escalate, which results in a special guest referee being appointed for their match at "St. Valentine's Day Massacre." Al Snow calls out "The Road Dogg" but, when he doesn't answer the challenge, Al then proceeds to have a Hardcore Match.... against himself. Jeff Jarrett goes one-on-one with D'Lo Brown, who introduces us to a brand new female wrestler. Viscera squares off with The Godfather in what is sure to be a five-star classic. Goldust steps into the ring with Gillberg in a match which has a rather surprising result. Plus, we get the famous visual of Vince yelling in "Stone Cold's" face, Darren Drozdov beats up an announcer, and Earl Hebner suffers the wrath of some unforgiving Canadian fans! Meanwhile over on "Nitro," we get roughly 800 vignettes, including the revelation that Raven is actually a spoiled rich kid! Enjoying the Podcast?
