Mick Foley turns the McMahon family against itself with a Survivor-style vote to decide who faces The Rock. Tommy Blacha and Rob Pasbani break down the August 17, 2000 episode of WWF SmackDown, live from the Worcester Centrum in Worcester, Massachusetts, with SummerSlam just two weeks away.Shane, Triple H, Stephanie, and Kurt Angle open the show by declaring themselves a united family, but Foley quickly detonates it by replaying the footage of Kurt kissing Stephanie's cheek from Raw. Rather than pick The Rock's opponent himself, Foley forces the McMahon camp to vote among themselves — with Shane volunteering first before the group ultimately settles on Triple H. Angle storms off in a fury, telling Stephanie he feels voted off the island.Triple H gets the win in the main event only after Kurt Angle runs down with a chair and helps him double-team The Rock, giving The Rock his second pinfall loss in two shows heading into SummerSlam. Elsewhere, Trish Stratus grabs a water pitcher from the announcer's table and smashes it over Chyna's head during the Eddie Guerrero vs. Val Venis Intercontinental Championship match, setting up Trish and Val vs. Chyna and Eddie at SummerSlam.Other major discussion points include:- Rikishi gives Terri the Stink Face after The Cat recruits him as her partner in a mixed tag match against Perry Saturn and Terri, featuring a monkey flip in high heeled boots- Edge and Christian redefine TLC as Totally Lacking Coolness and teach Worcester the word hanosity, before losing to Jeff Hardy and D-Von Dudley in a match that sows dissension between the Hardys and the Dudleys- Chris Benoit defeats Steve Blackman in a Hardcore Championship match with Chris Jericho on commentary, leading to a candid discussion about how this footage ages given what Benoit would later do- Tommy Blacha explains why Kane was plugged into the Undertaker feud after Big Show was sent to OVW because management grew unhappy with him- Kane destroys X-Pac and Road Dogg, takes the mic, and announces he is a monster before brawling with Undertaker- Big Bossman refers to Kaientai as his Chinese buddies and then oriental buddies as they try to correct him, with Crash Holly and the APA picking up the win- A recap of Sunday Night Heat, including Dean Malenko retaining the Light Heavyweight Championship, a Jericho promo officially announcing his two-out-of-three falls match with Benoit at SummerSlam, Kurt Angle defeating Matt Hardy, and Stephanie McMahon attacking Lita to set up their Raw Women's Championship match---Just announced! This week on Tales from the Attitude Era, former WWF writer Tommy Blacha and co-host Rob Pasbani are in Hartford for the post-King of the Ring fallout! With The Rock away in Hollywood, the show undergoes a "soft reboot" under the leadership of the brand-new Commissioner, Mick Foley. We break down the scary moment in the ring when Kurt Angle landed a chaotic moonsault directly on Hardcore Holly, resulting in a legitimate compound fracture to Holly's forearm. Tommy Blacha shares the backstage reaction to the injury and how it stalled a major singles push for the "Big Shot."We also witness the formal arrival of Steven Richards and the Right to Censor, as they target the Godfather's "sexuality" and begin cleaning up the WWF. The boys welcome Brian from the LJN podcast on. Also AI decided to write our show notes for this week.   Wrestling Figures and Personal Updates The hosts welcomed Brian from the Legendary Wrestling Figures podcast to discuss wrestling figures and catch up on his recent activities. Brian promoted his podcast and shared details about his pet cat, Lexington, and the songs he has created for it. The conversation concluded with plans to discuss Brian's recent painting projects in a future segment.   Custom Wrestling Figure Paint Projects Brian shared his recent painting projects, including customizing a Ron Simmons figure for Greg from the Man Bull Pod and transforming a Rick Martell figure for Drew's 5-year anniversary podcast episode. He detailed the specific paint and gear changes he made to each figure, emphasizing the challenges of working with different materials. Brian also discussed his excitement about the upcoming release of LJN wrestling figures, including Wave 3, which will make popular figures more accessible to fans at a lower price point.   LJN Figure Release Discussion The group discussed the upcoming release of new LJN figures from Mattel, with Brian sharing his excitement about the affordable price point and potential for detailed customization. They compared the new figures to original LJN and Big Rubber Guy versions, noting differences in materials and scale. Brian expressed hope for future releases, including a Mr. T figure and a more menacing Adrian Adonis redesign. Scott suggested adding characters from 80s wrestling teams like the Young Stallions and Boris Zukov to fill collection gaps.   Wrestling Action Figures Collectibles Discussion The group discussed various wrestling action figures and collectibles, including Latoonie figures, Road Warriors, and Ringside Collectibles pre-orders. Scott shared his wishlist items, including the Dudley's Ultimate 2-pack and a John Cena figure from the vault. Brian showed off some Jesse and Bundy figures he had collected, which impressed the others. They also mentioned a limited-time offer for Dory Funk Jr. figures at KWK, and briefly touched on a new Matt Cardona vs. Chris Jericho 2-pack from Jazzwares Vault.     Ringside Fest Product Announcements The group discussed new product announcements from Ringside Fest, including figures from the Monday Night War series and other releases. Scott shared details about various figures, including Steve Blackman, Sid Vicious, and the New Age Outlaws. They also covered Build-A-Figure releases and confirmed that Rick Rude would be a Build-A-Figure in a new suit. The team noted that some figures, like Cody and Penta, were part of the Defining Moments series.    AEW Toy Prices and Closures Jefry and Scott discussed the price point of a new Swerve action figure from AEW, priced at $60, and noted that tariffs were affecting toy prices. They also talked about Super7 closing two stores at the end of the year due to financial challenges, possibly related to tariffs. The conversation concluded with a discussion about a new Road Warrior Animal figure from Latoonie, which has a limited run of 100 units with distinctive Batman-inspired face paint.   Macho Man Wrestling Figure Plans The group discussed upcoming Mattel wrestling figures, focusing on potential Macho Man Randy Savage releases. They agreed that Macho Man's return would likely be announced around Christmas, with various looks being considered including his LJN, WrestleMania III, and neon green attire. Brian expressed a preference for a WrestleMania III-inspired figure with white tights and detailed boot stars, while Scott noted that Macho Man would slot into multiple lines including Ultimate Edition. The discussion also touched on New Jack's upcoming figure and the possibility of future releases based on video game appearances. Wrestling Figures and Collecting Discussion Scott, Jefry, and Brian discussed wrestling figures and games. They fact-checked information about a wrestling figure's gear and discussed potential future releases, including celebrity figures and retro sets. They also talked about their personal collecting habits and preferences. The conversation concluded with a brief mention of a wrestling video game. Nostalgic Arcade Wrestling Games Scott and Jefry discussed their favorite arcade wrestling games, with Scott expressing a fondness for WrestleFest due to its nostalgic value and the nostalgia of playing it with friends, despite holding a grudge against it for consuming his childhood money. They compared WrestleFest to its predecessor, WWF Superstars, noting the improved graphics and sound in WrestleFest. They also discussed the release of a modern iOS remake of WrestleFest, which Scott found disappointing. Brian shared his limited experience with both games, noting that neither held the same nostalgic value for him as they did for Scott and Jefry. Arcade Game Nostalgia Discussion The group discussed arcade games from their youth, with Brian, Scott, and Jefry sharing memories of playing NES Pro Wrestling, WrestleMania, and Spy Hunter. They also talked about the potential relaunch of Shakey's restaurants with 500 new locations, which excited Scott who fondly remembered the chain's pizza and games like Ikari Warriors. The conversation concluded with a detailed discussion about the arcade game WrestleFest, including its gameplay modes, critical reception, and its popularity compared to Street Fighter II in 1991.     Pre Orders: Big Rubber Guys - Collectmajor.com Big Bad Toy Store   - Rush - Dralistico - Dragon Lee   Fig Collections - shop.figurecollections.com The patriot Buff Bagwell   Zombie Sailor - (zombiesailor.com) - Zombie is also on BBTS La Toonie Road Warrior Everest figure KWK Shopkwk.com use code Fullyposeable to get 10 percent off your order. Ryan and Cindy celebrate the Thanksgiving tradition, Survivor Series 1999!  The cartoon super-villain ways of the Big Boss Man continues, as he begins feuding with the Big Show because the Big Show's dad (not Andre) is dying from cancer. The reformed DX and their difference now as a heel group to protect the World Champ Mankind shifting from the Rock to Al Snow and the deterioration of his in-ring abilities.  Having main-event level Survivor Series matches on Smackdown and then not having the new heel faction take part in a Survivor Series match.  The Survivor Series starting with four pimps against the Dudley Boyz and Acolytes.  The debut of Kurt Angle and how his character is played. A confusing Survivor Series match with the classic team of Gangrel and Steve Blackman! Steve Austin gets run over by a car and the reason behind his year long absence.  Chris Jericho getting cheered, despite heeling it up against Chyna. The Big Show dominating his tag match, but not getting his hands on the Big Boss Man. The World Title match and the surprise third entrant into the match. We end with a look at the first Thanksgiving Day Smackdown, leading to the first Smackdown food fight. Enjoy!

Ryan and Cindy go home once again, for one of them at least, as they review the 1999 United States version of No Mercy from Cleveland! Topics include: Ryan gushing over the No  Mercy video game for N64. Cindy talking about her most vivid memories of the Gund Arena/Quicken Loans Arena/Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse. The continuation and growth of the Hardy Boys against Edge and Christian feud in the Terri Invitational Tournament. (Silly acronym just a coincidence).  The departure of head writers Vince Russo and Ed Ferrera and what it would mean for the WWF and WCW.  We talk about the Godfather's proper role in the opening match, probably not against Mideon for 8 minutes.  After that we get 76 year old Fabulous Moolah defeating Ivory to become the oldest Women's Champ. The Holly's screw up their own Tag Team Title match on the Smackdown before, costing the New Age Outlaws the Tag Team titles and then defeating them by DQ. We talk about Jeff Jarrett's contract rolling over and him making sure he got a nice advance on his match with Chyna.  We talk about the Good Housekeeping match, the kind of rules that only make sense when they need to.  We get another quickie Rock match, reminiscent of the SummerSlam match against Billy Gunn, where Rock dispatches someone not in his league quickly.  We then have the front-runner for Match of the Year for 1999 and definitely the Match of the Night between Edge and Christian and the Hardy Boys as they totally revolutionize ladder matches in the WWF, delivering in a big way when given the spotlight.  We get another strange elevation match as Val Venis, last seen feuding with Steve Blackman over dildos, against Mankind, the person who was World Champ a little less than six weeks ago. The match is not great.  Steve Austin and Triple H have a very good 1999 WWF main event brawl. Weapons, including a boom camera, brawling all over the arena, Rock interference backfiring, a very cromulent end to the show. We look at Raw the next night where Mankind gives Rock his copy of Have A Nice Day. Mankind then gives one of his last great fired up promos, accusing the Rock of throwing out his book. Ryan shares his story of meeting Mick Foley for the first time about a week after

Ryan and Cindy start their fifth year of podcasting with a very…lackluster Pay Per View showing as we go down hill on the back half of 1999. We go to Charlotte or in one case Hell, for the WWF's September PPV. Among the many topics: The return of Vince McMahon proving that in 1999 gone forever meant approximately 7 weeks. Vince winning the World title as the push Triple H as hard as possible campaign shows no signs of slowing down.  The referees unionizing and going on strike, for unsafe working condition, forcing SCAB referees.  Steve Blackman turning his murderous rage to Val Venis and then attempting to go after a conspicuous buxom EMT.  D-Lo Brown getting a measure of revenge on Sexual Chocolate. Jeff Jarrett and Chyna having a lackluster match, that luckily gets some personality infused by Mae Young and Fabulous Moolah.  The New Age Outlaws reunite because…reasons?  A recap of the epic Big Boss Man/Al Snow feud and the Kennel From Hell that, well IYKYK and if not I recommend the Mick Foley/Kevin Kelly commentary from DVD. The sudden exit of Ken Shamrock from the WWF and the shock that he never came back for even a cameo. Chris Jericho's WWF PPV debut in a good match with X-Pac that suffers from very late crowd heat. The British Bulldog's back and bigger than ever! We also talk about the previous Smackdown featuring 5 (!) Triple H matches. The Six-Pack match kind of just happening for no reason, but it being kind of fun I guess The night after featuring the infamous This Is Your Life Rock featuring Yurple, Mr. Rocko, and the Rock's highschool girlfriend offering him a nice piece of that Poontang Pie! Enjoy!
