I'm doing 7 Day Mental Diet where you don't entertain negative thoughts. I've been sad because a few friends let me down but I'm trying to just out those thoughts to the side.
Join me and take the 30 Day Mental Diet. In this chapter on Faith US Andersen gives the 30 day Mental Diet and discusses its transformational power. If a doctor discovers that your body is not receiving the proper nutrition, he puts you on a diet. His reasoning on this is simple. He discovers that certain elements and vitamins and minerals are lacking in the chemical composition of your body, therefore he would restore their proper balance by having you eat certain foods that contain them in abundance. In any event, he asks you to exercise a conscious choice in the foods you eat, selecting some and rejecting a great many more. It is just such a procedure, confined entirely to the mind and spirit, which we shall ask you to adopt for the next thirty days. In other words, we are asking that you go on a thirty-day mental diet. For thirty days, one month, you are not to accept a single negative thought nor dwell on a single negative premise. This does not mean that such thoughts or ideas will not occur to you. They most certainly will occur, as frequently or even more so than they have all your life. This simply means that you will refuse to accept any of them, discarding them immediately they occur, as fictional ideas, without basis in truth, delusions that are without foundation for they have no roots in your mind. In this manner, by consciously exercising a choice of that which you allow to become part of your mind, by deliberately planting only positive seeds in the garden of the Subconscious, you will not only set about an eventual harvesting of the greatest bumper crop of good ever to enter your life, but more important, you will be building up a habit of positive thinking that will become easier and easier, day by day. Eventually, you will no longer have to struggle with positive and negative, good and evil, truth and illusion. If you are like me, you need to clean up your consciousness. Negativity manifests in my mind almost without notice. It sets up housekeeping in my diseased brain. So what is the answer? I don't know. But Emmet Fox suggests a Seven Day Mental Diet. This diet forbids negativity a dwelling. My job is to forbid any and all negative thoughts. I do not accept them. These thoughts do not come from a loving God. "God does not give us the spirit of fear." That comes from some place else. Fear seems the root of all other negativity. At least, fear does seem to be an evil and corrosive thread throughout my consciousness. Emmet Fox suggests his plan for a cleansing of the consciousness of all negativity. Sound impossible? I would have been able to see that hurt wasn't directed at me, it was more of an expression of the hurt that she was feeling. Due to the popularity of Emmet Fox's work, I have a number of episodes planned for the future that center around his teachings. The popularity of an episode I produced last year, The Golden Key and How to Use It is evidence that you all find his prescriptions for metaphysical healing as helpful I do. In today's episode, I'm talking about The 7 Day Mental Diet: How to Change Your Life in a Week. This is another very clear and concise work by Mr Fox. As he says in the introduction, it's ultimately a prescription for "psychological and spiritual rejuvenation". As for why you'd want to go on The 7 Day Mental Diet, well, the answer is summed up in the follow passage from the book: Everything in your life today, the state of your body, whether healthy or sick, the state of your fortune, whether prosperous or impoverished, the state of your home, whether happy or the reverse, the present condition of every phase of your life in fact is entirely conditioned by the thoughts and feelings which you have entertained in the past." To go on the diet, just make up your mind that for 7 days, you will work to form a new thought habit. One that doesn't allow any identifications or impressions of negativity onto your consciousness. While you may notice thoughts like these during this week, you're job is to not identify with them. Yes, you may be presented with situations throughout the week that are inherently negative in nature. However, your response to such situations is up to you. While you're on the diet, you will make a very conscious effort not to allow any thoughts or feelings of negativity or judgement into your mind. That's the diet in a nutshell. Fox also recommends that you not tell anyone you're on the mental diet. This is a common suggestion from many metaphysicians when you're working to transform your consciousness. This is due to the fact that doing so can dissipate any spiritual power you're building toward change. Quote of the Week: You cannot change conditions directly.
