In today's episode I'm breaking down the battle between your thoughts and your reality. Too many of you are letting your own brain hold you hostage, telling yourself you can't, convincing yourself it's not possible. That's f*cking garbage. The truth is simple: if you expand your mind and go all in, there's nothing out of reach. And if you suck at something? Good. Don't quit. Rewire your mindset, put in the reps, and keep going until you become a master. Research has cited the average person spends 4 hours a day minimum scrolling on their phone on social media. That doesn't include checking emails, playing games, etc........ That's just social media. I'm sure I spend more than that on there before noon, but there's intention behind it. I'm looking for something with intention. Someone I can offer a product or service to. A solution that no one has thought of. A little humor to sprinkle into someone's day. But, most people don't think about social media like that. If you're tired of scrolling aimlessly without getting that dopamine hit or validation......... I'm going to to give you the game here...... The answer: there's an invisible energy powering every heartbeat, every breath, and every thought. Modern life scrambles this energy. And until you fix it, no diet, no pill, and no protocol will fully work. On today's episode of Heal Thy Self, Dr. Catherine Clinton, ND, reveals how the new science of quantum biology explains what's really running your health — and how you can tap into it. Here's what you'll discover inside this episode: • Quantum biology basics: Why your cells work together like a perfectly tuned orchestra — moving energy with amazing efficiency. • Your mind as medicine: How thoughts create measurable fields that can shift your body's health in real time. • The EMF crisis: Why man-made signals disrupt your cells — and simple steps like grounding and light exposure that restore balance. • Water as your body's battery: The science of structured water inside your cells and how it powers healing. • Fascia as your wiring system: How freeing blocked fascia unlocks energy and even stored trauma. • Daily rhythm resets: The morning light and evening darkness rituals that restore hormones, mood, and sleep. • Sound healing made simple: How humming boosts nitric oxide, serotonin, and oxytocin while reducing inflammation. • Grounding in minutes: Why standing barefoot on the earth instantly calms your nervous system. • Heart–brain coherence: How your emotions create fields that affect not only you, but everyone around you. This isn't theory. This is peer-reviewed science meeting practical wisdom. And it gives you simple, powerful tools to recharge your energy, calm your nervous system, and unlock your body's natural healing. This episode might just change the way you see your body and your life forever. We're diving into some powerful ideas from The Biology of Belief by Dr. Bruce Lipton — a groundbreaking book that blends cell biology, quantum physics, and the power of thought into a single message:“You are not a victim of your genes. You are a creator of your biology.”Let me ask you something right off the bat:Have you ever felt like your body is working against you?Like no matter how well you eat… how hard you train… how many green smoothies you drink… you still feel stuck — in your energy, in your weight, in your health? Most people chalk that up to “bad genetics.” They say things like: “It runs in my family.” “I've always been this way.” “My body's just broken.”But what if I told you…That's not biology. That's a belief. And it turns out, your beliefs might just be the most powerful health intervention you've never been taught to use.Today's episode is going to challenge everything you thought you knew about your body, your brain, and your so-called “destiny.”Resources: Brain.fm App(First month Free, then 20% off subscription)Discount Code: coachdamiensdLinks:IG:@coachdamien_sd@damienrayevans@livinthedream_podcast YouTube:https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCS6VuPgtVsdBpDj5oN3YQTgFB:https://www.facebook.com/coachdamienSD/

In this episode Andrea revisits her 2019 conversation with Dr. Daniel J. Siegel to explore Mindsight — his science-based approach to understanding the mind, integrating the brain, and cultivating empathy. Dr. Siegel explains the difference between mind and brain, the benefits of the Wheel of Awareness meditation, and how Mindsight can change brain structure and improve health. Watch full interview here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7pnea2Vbzc Practical tips include daily Mindsight practice, naming emotions to build self-awareness, and simple emotional check-ins to make learning and relationships more meaningful. This week, in our review of EP 28 with Daniel J. Siegel, MD and his book Mindsight, we learned: ✔ The Difference Between the Mind and the Brain. ✔ The Benefits of The Wheel of Awareness Meditation. ✔ How to Understand and Apply Mindsight that gives us insight into ourselves, and empathy for others. ✔ How Mindsight can change brain structure and improve health. ✔ In order to make teaching and learning more meaningful, what we are teaching must have an element of emotion. Welcome back to SEASON 14 of The Neuroscience Meets Social and Emotional Learning Podcast, where we connect the science-based evidence behind social and emotional learning and emotional intelligence training for improved well-being, achievement, productivity and results—using what I saw as the missing link (since we weren't taught this when we were growing up in school), the application of practical neuroscience. I'm Andrea Samadi, and seven years ago, launched this podcast with a question I had never truly asked myself before: (and that is) If productivity and results matter to us—and they do now more than ever—how exactly are we using our brain to make them happen? Most of us were never taught how to apply neuroscience to improve productivity, results, or well-being. About a decade ago, I became fascinated by the mind-brain-results connection—and how science can be applied to our everyday lives. That's why I've made it my mission to bring you the world's top experts—so together, we can explore the intersection of science and social-emotional learning. We'll break down complex ideas and turn them into practical strategies we can use every day for predictable, science-backed results. Episode 371: For today's Episode 371, we continue our journey into the mind with the next interview review. Just a reminder-this review series began back with Episode 366[i], where in Part 3 we discovered an important lesson: if we don't like our results—or what we see on the outside—we need to shift our mindset and look within. True change always begins on the inside. EP 369[ii] we learned how to Rewire our Brain with Dr. Dawson Church and his Bliss Brain Meditations, and then last week, EP 370[iii] with John Medina's Brain Rules, we reviewed how important this understanding of neuroscience is, especially connected to education, teaching and learning. Which brings us to today's review, EP 371, where we revisit a very early episode with clinical professor of psychiatry from UCLA's School of Medicine, Dr. Daniel J Siegel. He's from EP 28[iv], that was recorded back in November of 2019. As we take this journey deeper into the mind, Dr. Dan Siegel offers the perfect place to begin, with his ability to bridge cutting-edge neuroscience and practical wisdom. Dr. Dan Siegel, is well known for his books, trainings and courses that bridge cutting edge neuroscience with mindfulness and therapy. A reminder of his background-he's a clinical professor of psychiatry at the UCLA School of Medicine and executive director of the Mindsight Institute[v] where you can find his courses, workshops, books and tools to help anyone understand and apply what can sometimes be complicated scientific concepts and make them easy to understand and applicable to our daily lives. At the end of the interview, I let Dr. Siegel know that I had been practicing his Wheel of Awareness Meditation, and ended up reviewing what I learned on EP 60[vi] where we explored the Science Behind a Meditation Practice. You can watch the whole interview by clicking on the link in the resource section in the show notes, and learn all about Dr. Siegel's work that encompasses schools, with resiliency, brain science and helping our next generation to understand how to apply these important strategies whether it's in our classrooms, or workplaces of the future. Today we will continue to explore within, sharpen our mindset, and learn about what Dr. Siegel calls Mindsight. VIDEO 1 Click Here to Watch In Clip 1, Dr. Siegel unpacks the concept of Mindsight and helps clarify the difference between the mind and the brain, when I asked him to explain this distinction. I knew this wasn't an easy question—as I had already listened to him answer it many times over the years, and still wasn't sure I fully grasped it. In fact, I even tried to tackle it myself back in Episode 23[vii], Understanding Your Brain and Mind for Increased Results. But revisiting this topic now, I can see this concept requires a much deeper reflection. So, I asked Dr. Siegel if we could look at his definition of the mind—one he has been studying for years and that many in his scientific and educational circles agree on. He describes the mind as “an embodied and relational process—since it's in the body and it's in our relationships with one another—that regulates the flow of energy and information.” I wanted to hear him expand on this again, especially around why relationships are so critical for our health, our well-being, and for creating what he calls an integrated brain—which he equates with a healthy brain. His answer helped me to understand the importance of implementing Mindsight into our daily life. He said: “The word mind doesn't actually have a formal definition—not in education, psychotherapy, or even in fields like psychology that study it directly. But if we look closely, the mind includes your subjective experience—that inner feeling of being alive. It also includes consciousness—the ability to know that you're having that subjective experience. And beyond that, there's information processing—which doesn't always require consciousness and is essentially what school focuses on: learning to process information. When you understand the mind as a self-organizing process—a complex system that regulates its own becoming—you begin to see the power of teaching about the mind itself. This is what we call Mindsight. And if we could bring this understanding into education, the outcomes for students would be profoundly different.” Key Tip 1 with Dr. Dan Siegel Understanding and Applying Mindsight which is “the way we focus our attention on the internal world. It's how we bring consciousness to our own thoughts and feelings, and then next, how we attune to the inner world of someone else. Mindsight gives us insight into ourselves, and empathy for others.”

If you're a speaker or coach and that's all you do for a living, your industry is about to be over. It's not just your industry, but many others. No one is going to continue paying $50K-$100K per year to be in a mastermind. Everyone has had to drop their prices, including me. All of this has to do with A.I. Demand versus access. Right now, you have maybe 5 years to really catch traction in something else. Universal Basic Income is going to be a thing. If you're not sure what that is, it's where everyone who is not running a business or working in a needed position that A.I. hasn't replaced will be given a universal basic income. Let's flash forward into the future 3 years. You're applying for a job and you're going up against someone with an MBA. That person is well-qualified and is probably the more attractive candidate for the job. Let's say you have an Associates degree, but you happened to learn A.I. along the way. You've implemented it in every single job you've had over the last 3 years. When it comes time to getting an offer letter, if the person with the MBA hasn't mastered A.I., they're not going to land that job over you. That's the good news. Keep in mind, companies like Sony are not going to come here and invest tons of money and ignore cheap labor. Sure, they'll be here for a season, but the United States is not going to pay the high wages commanded by the American workforce, especially when there are ways to scale a company by simply using A.I. There will be no unions to pay, 401K, retirement, etc. It's not a viable proposition. I say that to say this............ A couple of years ago, I had close to 100 employees. Today, I have 30, thanks to A.I. Each one of them knows how to leverage A.I. They are agents of A.I. and this is what future employers will be in search of. So, if you're thinking about what you should be focused on now..............it's becoming an agent of A.I. I was in a Facebook group with mortgage professionals a few days ago and I noticed one person was asking about getting a printed copy of marketing materials I was sharing. Instead of clowning on the loan officer, the group turned their attention to Real Estate agents citing how important it was to share their marketing materials with real estate agents and hard selling them on selling you as a loan officer. None of the suggestions were the right answer and it boils all down to one thing. That one thing requires you to ask certain questions, like, "What does this person need more than anything in their business?" "How can I best help this person with their marketing efforts?" Simply, it starts with not making it about you. The truth is, it begins with becoming a person of value. So, how do you become a true person of value? It's not fancy marketing materials, or flashy websites, or co-sponsorships........ It's something more....... Lean in and listen to find out..... Conversation on the Positive Aging Community platform, host Steve Gurney sat down with George Jerjian, an author, speaker, and thought leader specializing in life's transitions. Jerjian, whose latest book is Odyssey of an Elder, shared his personal journey from a life-altering health scare to embracing retirement as a profound opportunity for growth. The discussion delved into themes of identity, purpose, gratitude, and adventure, offering valuable lessons for anyone approaching or navigating later life stages.A Wake-Up Call: From Diagnosis to DiscoveryJerjian's transformative path began in 2007 when he was diagnosed with a bone tumor and given just six months to live. Contrary to expectations, the experience didn't fill him with fear of death itself but rather concern for his teenage daughters. Miraculously, the tumor proved non-cancerous, but the brush with mortality reshaped his priorities. "Time is the most important thing," Jerjian emphasized, prompting him to semi-retire after a successful career. However, after 18 months of leisure, boredom and resentment set in. In 2016, seeking clarity, Jerjian embarked on a 30-day silent retreat inspired by Ignatian spiritual exercises—a rigorous program of introspection, often drawing from Catholic and Buddhist traditions. Isolated from external distractions like news, TV, or books, he conducted a deep "audit" of his life, reflecting on past homes and experiences. This revealed a key insight: "None of the good things could have happened without the preceding bad things." Crises, he realized, are turning points rather than endpoints. This epiphany led to his first book, Spirit of Gratitude: Crises are Opportunities, where he profiled 12 stories illustrating how challenges foster growth. Jerjian challenged the cultural view of retirement as a "problem," arguing it's a fork in the road where one's work-tied identity must evolve. He also highlighted how physical spaces, like homes, can anchor identity, urging listeners to declutter—both materially and emotionally—to make room for new beginnings. The DARE Method: A Framework for ReinventionCentral to Jerjian's philosophy is his DARE method, an acronym standing for Discover, Assimilate, Rewire, and Expand. He described it as a courageous approach to unretiring and crafting a fulfilling next chapter:Discover: Understand retirement's history and essence—it's not just financial planning but life planning. Jerjian referenced ancient thinkers like Cicero, who viewed old age as life's "crown," countering modern society's dismissal of elders as obsolete.Assimilate: Absorb new knowledge about the mind, particularly the subconscious. Willpower alone fails; the subconscious often sabotages goals. Jerjian stressed that we are not our thoughts but observers of them, advocating for releasing unhelpful ones.Rewire: Rewrite limiting stories from childhood, family, or society. By "recording over" old narratives, individuals can foster positive change.Expand: Counterintuitively, retirement should involve growth, not contraction. Gratitude plays a scientific role here, connecting thinking and thanking to open doors for more abundance. Jerjian advocated shifting from consumerism's dissatisfaction to a service-oriented mindset, inspired by Samurai ethos.Jerjian ties this to broader societal benefits, noting that serving others alleviates personal troubles and infuses life with nobility.
I am not a person who likes to do things the easy way. My whole life, I've done nothing but do shit the hard way. And let me tell you.......... The hard way is expensive. It's painful. People steal from you. They run your name down. They try and snuff out your business, your family, and even take your soul. Here's what I know about being a hard head. I'm grateful because of the experiences that gave me the lessons. I learned how to be a better judge of character. I learned how to be a good steward of my resources. I've learned how to be a better father, husband, and businessman. If I were to do everything I've done in my life, even as painful as it was, I would do it all over again, and not change a thing. You can go the easy way, but it's a shortcut and you'll do yourself a disservice and miss out on the wisdom you need to truly elevate you in your life. Success really isn't that difficult. We waste so much time worrying about what other people have and what they do. Then we invest our time copycatting what others have portrayed in real life and social media only to find out it's not entirely true. Success is subjective and the experience is different for each and every person on this planet. Some value having more time with their family and creating a life that supports this. Others value having big cars, fancy clothes, and other luxury items. While others simply see success as building a business that funds a bigger mission like a charity. But what does it take to be successful? There's no secret. But you'll be amazed the one thing you have to do to create it. It's amazing what you can accomplish in a year that seems like nothing day by day. I used to see Realtors do this. "How are things going for you?" Realtor: "I'm so busy. I had 3 closings last month." Most people waste time hurrying up and waiting. Instead of doing daily, consistent actions, they wait on something to happen instead of making it happen. It's a vicsious cycle. The work has to be done daily and it's not sexy, but it's those little unsexy actions done over time consistently that make the world go around and push things forward in life. I don't wait to get fat before I have to go to the gym. I go now because I know it'll take me longer to battle health challenges if my body is out of shape. I don't eat like a 20-year old. I eat things that fuel my body. Same goes for everything we do, but things aren't going to change if you're not taking massive action and simply waiting for things to fall in your lap. It's not how the universe works. Get to work. And you'll see the fruits of your labor manifest. Part 2: Chills vs. Pills: The Future of Mental Health | Prof Nicco Reggente. Show Notes What if a simple shiver down your spine could heal depression, rewire belief, and even rival psychedelics in transforming the mind? In Part 2 of my conversation with Professor Nicco Reggente, we dive into the most disruptive neuroscience you've probably never heard of: the power of aesthetic chills. These goosebump-inducing moments, triggered by music, film, or human connection, aren't just emotional fireworks. Nicco's groundbreaking research shows they can: Restore the capacity for pleasure in patients where drugs fail Dissolve ego and unlock self-transcendence in ways that rival psychedelics Rewire maladaptive beliefs and reduce depression below clinical thresholds—sometimes in a single session Shape political extremes and social belonging, for better and for worse . This is not just about goosebumps. It's about discovering whether chills are the most democratic and accessible tool for human flourishing—and the dangerous ways they can also be weaponized in cults, polarization, and extremist movements. . If you lead at the highest level, you cannot ignore what this means: the same nervous system mechanism that can heal can also manipulate. Understanding it may be the next frontier in leadership, influence, and human performance. In this episode, Professor Nicco Reggente and I explore: Why concerts, stadiums, and shared rituals dissolve ego into collective transcendence The dark side: how chills can fuel extremism, brainwashing, and polarization New research shows liberals and conservatives experience chills differently How AI-driven “schema surgery” videos create one-shot breakthroughs in depression Why chills may restore hedonic tone (pleasure) in anhedonic patients where pharmaceuticals fail How chills mirror psychedelic therapies—without the risks or stigma Why leaders who understand chills can harness empathy, belonging, and transformation at scale About Professor Nicco Reggente Research Director, Institute for Advanced Consciousness Studies Specialist in non-ordinary states, belief updating, and applied neuroscience Innovator in AI-driven, personalized therapeutic interventions Author of breakthrough studies linking chills to depression, politics, and empathy Website https://advancedconsciousness.org/ https://advancedconsciousness.org/member/nicco-reggente/ Social Media https://www.linkedin.com/in/nreggente/ https://x.com/mobiuscydonia

It's known that an average life exists in the comfort zone. And it is known that when you live in discomfort, your body will do everything it can to avoid this space. The truth is, discomfort is where the growth aoccurs for most human beings. Think about the last tie you lost love. Lost money. Lost friends. Think about your childhood. Was it good, or was it uncomfortable. I've lived many lives of discomfort. At 18, I got my first apartment. Ten months later, the cops kicked open the door and took me to jail. Jail was uncomfortable. I had no furniture in my apartment and really had none when I got locked up. When I was married 3 times before and got divorced, I felt the discomfort. In each and every one of those situations, I used the discomfort of discomfort to make new way. I worked harder. Worked longer than everyone else. And guess what? I won. Last weekend, my 2nd oldest and I mowed 10 acres. Sure, I can afford to hire soemone, but Im teaching my kids about life and how it woks by staying in the discomfort zone. It's the only way growth happens. I still got to the gym and work my body daily. I still do yardwork. I do chores around the house. I work later and longer at work. Why? In my experience, discomfort keeps me sharp and continuously evolving. Figure out what you want. It's waiting for you in the discomfort zone. In this episode I sit down with Karen Gray, aka The Confidence Coder, to dive deep into what confidence really is (and what it absolutely isn't). We talk about why two people can go through the same experience and walk away with completely different takeaways, how trauma sneaks into our conditioning, and why you're probably still living life with a metaphorical flat tire. Karen shares her four-part process - Remember, Rewire, Reclaim, Recalibrate - and we unpack how to stop bending yourself into a pretzel just to be palatable for other people. Spoiler: confidence isn't something you “earn” once and keep forever, it's a choice you come back to again and again. If you've ever caught yourself waiting to “earn” a nap, softening your “no” into a “maybe later,” or questioning if you're even allowed to feel how you feel, this conversation will hit home. Consider this your reminder that you don't need to shrink, twist, or hustle for permission. You were born worthy. Full stop. In this episode we discuss: Why confidence is less about “having it all together” and more about remembering who you are. Why pretending you'll “try” is usually code for “never.” What toddlers can teach us about unfiltered self-worth. The sneaky ways we abandon ourselves to keep the peace. Why you don't have to “earn” rest, joy, or your own damn opinion. This is a lesson I taught back in 2012. What I've learned is if you want to have great friends, you have to be a good friend. You have to make it all about the good friends. I've watched Ed Mylett and he skillfully makes every conversation about the people even if they're complimenting him. He gets it. If you want people to like you, make it about them. Make sure you like people's posts. If I'm going to have a big social circle, I have to be engaged with a lot of people. I have a lot of people jockeying for their attention. But I still vie for their attention because I still want to be their friend. I'm not talking about paying their bills. They're the ones asking how the kids and wife are doing. They're the ones checking in to see how things are going. That's what makes a good friend. Be a great friend if you want to have good friends both online and off! Have you ever noticed? Worst case never happens. I died one time and somehow I cheated that. We always think in worst case scenarios. The probability of the worst thing happening never happens. Before we had guns, electricity, and war, we were more concerned about getting attacked by saber toothed tigers. Our amygdala keeps us in the worst case scenario mindset. It's how we're wired. It's all fake. Remember that as you're listening to the naysayers and debbie downers as you make your mark in this world. ' Get to work and let it speak for itself. I was doing some research the other day on changing out some things in one of my businesses. I asked ChatGPT what the number one struggle entrepreneurs face and it gave me one of the best answers. It's not usually the business, it's the weight of the business. Carrying the responsiblity alone. Clients. Partners, and employees may not fully understand the sacrifices made like balancing life and business, making payroll, cutting relationships that no longer support the business. I created Apex so I could be surrounded by people that understood the challenges in my life. I might be really good at marriage, but others are better in business. Get surrounded by really good people with different skillsets than you. Help those who don't have your skillsets. Work to become better for you so you can be better for everyone else. And help them. That's what Apex is. And I'm going to continue to build on that because I know it's something every single entrepreneur needs.
