Christine Minhee, JD, founder of OpioidSettlementTracker.com, joins us for an insightful discussion on the distribution of opioid settlement funds. In this episode, Christine delves into the complexities of how these funds are allocated at the state and local levels, providing a clear explanation of key concepts such as "Exhibit E" and the issue of supplantation—where settlement funds may be used to replace, rather than supplement, existing state funding. This conversation provides valuable insights for policymakers, community leaders, and advocates seeking to ensure that settlement funds are used effectively to combat the opioid crisis. You've no doubt heard the old adage “If you want to make God laugh, make a plan.” We counter with this - “If you want to make everyone in your business feel true homicidal rage, don't make a plan.” Maybe not as catchy, but it definitely sends a message, right? Probably not as funny on a coffee mug, admittedly - feels like the sort of thing that eventually ends up in the court trial as State's Exhibit E or F. This week, our boys Sid and Keith hammer home yet another episode about the importance of planning, making sure that you keep your commitments and lock your eyes on the prize - because your business and your well-being in every facet of life depends on your being able to anticipate, act and adjust for what the future may throw at you. Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana - but fail to make a proper plan and you'll be the one looking like a monkey. Plan to tune in and turn up this week's Overlap Podcast - it's good for what ails you and your business. P.S. Sid we are a big and cool podcast. Yours truly, the production team. Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 54th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "The Palindrome Parallax Paradox Podcast," I feature the series finale of short-lived ABC Family comic book-inspired series "The Middleman" for my Friday Night Feature, "The Palindrome Reversal Palindrome" and discuss my interest in comic books and graphic novel-inspired media. In Cross Connections, I trace "Studio Six Feet Under" connections from "The Middleman," as well as connections from the third season of "Eureka" and the 1940 production of "Gaslight" to the 1948 production of "The Red Shoes." In Old Business, I pull up the closing scenes of the pilot episode of "Raising the Bar" I featured in Episode 53: We Are As Gods, a few moves I called and a few I'd completely forgotten. In my Classic VHS-to-DVD Collection, I talked about a first season episode of "Prison Break," a fourth season episode of "Nip/Tuck" and a first season episode of "30 Rock" that all turned up recently. In Crowdsourcing, research continues but breakthroughs thus far prove elusive on Exhibit E, a piece of sketch comedy, some screen caps posted here. Any tips, hints or leads are greatly appreciated. In my direct-to-DVD Current Collection, some discussion on "Pearson" and "Suits" as well as "Preacher." Also, looking at a few eyecatching commercials, an Audi commercial makes me feel pretty good about what I've heard about the new 007. In VideoFuzzy at the Movies, I talk about the FX production of Spike Lee's "Summer of Sam" (1998), and I take the opportunity to trace connections from the 1971 production of "The Zodiac Killer," including to Nightstalker reporter Carl Kolchak, highlighted in a couple of my favorite episodes of the Forgotten TV podcast you can find here and here. In What I've Been Watching, I comment on episodes of "Straight Up Steve Austin" on USA, which drew my attention to his podcast, David Spade's "Lights Out" on Comedy Central and "Supermarket Stakeout" on the Food Network. Finally, Ralph and I recently took in the FMCT's amazing production of Michael Frayn's "Noises Off!" In Upcoming Shows, looking forward to finally seeing the ninth season of "American Horror Story: 1984," a little bit of FXX weirdness in the series premiere of "Cake," and season premieres of "Superstore" and "The Good Place." Also, BBC America is observing the 50th anniversary of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" by airing first-season episodes Sept. 29. And shoutouts to Geek Radio Daily and Forgotten TV podcasts. Enjoy!
Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 43rd episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Studio Six Feet Under," I discuss the pilot episode of "Six Feet Under" and outline the series' counter claim to "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" as the mystical center of my media collection. I also draw connections to "Veronica Mars" and "Dead Like Me." In my classic collection, I found a bunch of fun music videos, one of my very favorite Monty Python's Flying Circus sketches, "The Trial of Harold Larch" and a National Geographic production called "Stonehenge Decoded." I comment on "The Doctor's Daughter," "Fear Itself" and "MI-5," and a funny thing happened on the way to a "Desperate Housewives" episode. In my current collection, Garner and Rowlands' touching performances in "The Notebook" spark some personal reflection. Also, comments on "Suicide Squad," "The Magicians," "Deadly Class," "A Million Little Things" and "Miracle Workers." Plus, comments on T-Mobile's Wall of Text. Finally, last time I'll mention it here, I'm still looking for assistance with crowdsourcing Exhibit E, sketch comedy featuring young women in medieval times. Photos posted here. Thanks!
Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 42nd episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Life, This Podcast and Everything," as I break into my fourth binder of DVDs, I discover the second half of the pilot episode of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," which I assert is the mystical center of my personal media universe: Despite its having aired for only one season in 2006-07, it is remarkably easy to highlight connections between this show and just about everything else in my media collection. In my Classic Collection, I highlight significant episodes of "Dead Like Me," a mess of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" episodes and the goofy fourth season premiere of "Wire in the Blood" as well as "The Shield," "Nip/Tuck," "South Park," "The Simpsons" and the 2007 documentary "Prison Nation" on National Geographic. In my Current Collection, I talk about "I Am the Night" on TNT, "Surviving R. Kelly" and "Escaping the Madhouse: The Nellie Bly Story" on Lifetime, with comments on "grown-ish," "A Million Little Things" and "The Good Place," as well as Syfy presentations of "The Magicians," "Deadly Class" and an episode of "The Twilight Zone" featuring Carol Burnett. Also, I discuss my approach to spoilers. Finally, I'm still looking for assistance with crowdsourcing Exhibit E, sketch comedy featuring young women in medieval times. Photos posted here.
Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 41st episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Wire in the Podcast," I get into the 600s in my classic collection, and throw out a request for help in my Crowdsourcing segment Exhibit E, a two-minute comic sketch presenting three young women in medieval times. I've included a few screen caps in my blog. You can check them out by clicking here. In my Friday Night Feature, I talk about a third-season episode of the BBC production "Wire in the Blood," detailing my past interest in crime dramas featuring profilers, and the relative weaknesses in evidence in this particular production, found on discs 600 and 601 in my classic collection. In my Classic VHS-to-DVD collection, I react to the series finale of "Terminal City," as well as episodes from "The Simpsons" featuring Joan Rivers and Glenn Close, noting Rivers' contribution to the nearby archive copy of a Comedy Central presentation of "Spaceballs" on disc 585, also found on disc X191 as presented by IFC in my current collection. The Glenn Close episode is dedicated to the memory of Elsie Castellaneta and features an extended couch gag tracing all of evolution. Other shows highlighted include "Boston Legal" and "My Name is Earl." In my Current direct-to-DVD collection, I discuss episodes of "The Good Place," "Superstore," "Doctor Who" and "Sherlock," and I respond to a piece of listener feedback I received. Enjoy!
