Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 102nd episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. I open with a complicated correction that involves my having mixed up Rachel Nichols and Elisabeth Harnois, the shows they were involved in, their connections to Joss Whedon productions and also cross connections through "Criminal Minds." This set covers discs 1826 to 1850 in my Classic Collection. For my Fuzzy Feature, from Discs 1849 and 1850, comments on the pilot episode of Matt Nix production "The Good Guys," along with my 12th ever "VideoFuzzy the Video" posted here: https://youtu.be/aT5HIqRBS50 I also traced Cross Connections turning up in this collection for Golden Threads Michael O'Neill and Stephen Weber, plus Tahmon Penniket, William B. Davis, Gary Anthony Williams, Erica Gimpel, Ally Walker, Marion Ross, Chrisotpher Lloyd, Scott Bakula, Fred Willard, Swoosie Kurtz, Allison Janney, Terry O'Quinn, Marilyn Manson, Mitch Pileggi, Jon Waters, Bob Clendinen, Neil Patrick Harris, Molly Shannon, John Michael Higgins, Idina Menzel, Judy Greer, Kelsey Grammer, Saul Rubinek, Rachel York, Brent Sexton, Kevin "Repo" Thomas, M.C. Gainey, Kate Vernon and Wade Williams. Plus from "Mid-Century Modern" and elsewhere, I recognize my latest Golden Thread: Bruno Amato. In my Classic Collection, I encountered a few disc errors, suggesting my current DVD player may be wearing out. In the meantime, lots of high-drama season finales in this set. Comments on "Grey's Anatomy," "Fringe," "The Simpsons," "Chuck," "Breaking Bad," and a discussion on the Weeping Angels in "Doctor Who." In Old Business, I track down a musical comedy clip of Martin Short listing celebrities and other notables who refuse to appear on "The Late Show with David Letterman." I'd archived a portion of that one to disc 225 but hadn't seen the first half in perhaps ever until I found it on YouTube in a clip compilation of Martin Short appearances hosted by David Letterman and Paul Schaffer. I posted it here, cued to the 22-minute mark: https://bit.ly/3G52J9e In What I've Been Watching, comments on the Vernal Theatre's outstanding production of "Kiss Me Kate," the second season premiere of "Doctor Who" on Disney+, the first season of "Continuum" and pilot episodes of "Millennium," "Profiler" and "Mid-Century Modern." SPREADING THE WORD! "VideoFuzzy: The Video - Celebrating 100 Episodes!" is posted at https://youtu.be/eWfcCDiOZ2I. Please share as you're able to with anyone you feel might enjoy this production. It was touch and go for a moment, but we've just about recovered from our first dive into The Witcher: Classic Collection. And that's a good thing because it's time to finish the book! The second three chapters are all based on classic Witcher short stories, so at least we know what we're in for…or so we thought! Why is that knight riding his horse up a giant stone dildo? Is that an Edgar Allan Poe cameo? What's up with the guy and his magic cat? And don't even get us going on the descriptively named cobbler in the final story! At least there's whisky this time around—the Icelandic Flóki Single Malt, which proves to be every bit the wild ride as the book we've paired it with.

This week, we travel back to 1993 as we dive into The Witcher: Classic Collection, a new graphic novel compilation of Geralt's earliest comic book adventures. And since neither of us were old enough to drink in the early '90s, we're discussing this book sober! Well, the first half of it at any rate, which proves to be an unwise choice because the first two stories…aren't great. How does an oversized, non-speaking earwig have its own gang of thieves? What is Dandelion doing hanging out with a bunch of sheep? And do not get us started on how Geralt got his famous white hair! Be smarter than us and pour yourself a strong one before hitting play, as we navigate this weird, wild and at times strangely homoerotic Witcher world.

In What I've Been Watching, I chat about the 2018 Jon Hamm, Catherine Keener release "Nostalgia," which I found available for viewing at the Uintah County Library in Vernal, UT. Great space, and very cool show!   Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 101st episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. First, heading toward my eighth anniversary doing this podcast, I'm trying to build some engagement. I posted an 11th installment of "VideoFuzzy: The Video - Celebrating 100 Episodes!" at https://youtu.be/eWfcCDiOZ2I. Please share as you're able to with anyone you feel might enjoy this production. Also, most of my recent episodes have posted with promos, so those are also available to share freely. And you have to scroll all the way down, but there are more general promos posted at https://videofuzzy.libsyn.com. Enjoy! This set covers discs 1801 to 1825 in my Classic Collection. For my Fuzzy Feature, from Disc 1818 I pulled up the "Parks and Recreation" second season episode "94 Meetings," and traced Cross Connections for Dan Butler, Jane McGregor, Robert Englund, Timothy Olyphant, Zeljko Ivanek, Robert Picardo, Tony Hale, John Barrowman, Diane Farr, Stephen Weber, Larry Widmore, Ted Bagley, Julie Benz, Krinstin Chenowith, Martha Plimpton, Yeardley Smith and Alex Kingston, plus from "Eli Stone" and elsewhere, I celebrate Golden Thread Loretta Devine. In my Classic Collection, I call up my 2010 "TV is the New Reading" podcast commentary on "Happy Town." David Tennant and Patrick Stewart shared the stage in a PBS "Great Performances" production of "Hamlet." Plus comments on "Doctor Who," "Fringe," "The Crying Game" from 1992, and I highlighted insights by fellow podcaster Terry Geo's "Refracted World" at Refracted World "Love is Love Legally" at https://bit.ly/3RoEg0L. Also, "Damages," "Mercy," "South Park," "The Office," "Community," "The Simpsons," OKGO on "The Colbert Report," "Minnesota Original" and on "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart," Jon hilariously simulated capping the BP oil spill. In What I've Been Watching, comments on the pilot episode of "Continuum," plus "Captain America: Brave New World," Trey Parker's "Orgazmo," the 2003 Edie Falco pilot of "Fargo," you can find a copy of that posted here: https://bit.ly/4jdNPMb. Also, Jon Hamm and Catherine Keener in the 2018 production of "Nostalgia," and the six-episode 2023 Netflix production of "Queen Charlotte." Happy viewing! Putting together VideoFuzzy ep. 100 -- coffee certainly helps!   Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 100th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. This set covers discs 1751 to 1800 in my Classic Collection. I open with a project overview highlighting some of my finds. For my Fuzzy Feature, I encountered the 100th episode of "Bones" that recalled the first case Booth and Bones worked on together. I found a similar story construction in "In Plain Sight," and talked about that one as well. Under Cross Connections I trace Golden Threads Todd Giebenhain and, later, Michael Shamus Wiles. Also, appearances by Amy Acker, Lee Majors, Kathy Najimy, Bryan Batt, Alan Ruck, Stephen Root, Katie Sackhoff, Mark Bergeron, Angela Bassett, Sarah Silverman, Rita Moreno, Dana Delany, Sheryl Crow, Mary Pat Gleason, Marc A. Sheppard, Charlotte Arren, Johnny Broderick, Cyd Cherise, Fred Astaire, Jane Lynch, Olivia Munn and Brian Skala. And under Fond Reflections, love for Michelle Trachtenberg of "Buffy," "Mercy" and "Six Feet Under," and I share some headcanon from an "Angel" chat group I was in. In Video Outreach, I share comments from author and fellow podcaster Kemper Donovan on my review of "Loose Lips," available here: https://bit.ly/3C11ENN Kemper hosts the "All About Agatha" podcast here: https://bit.ly/43j4hnB Then I chat with my sister, Patti Ellingson, about shows we've enjoyed, including "Doctor Who," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," "Bridgerton" and "Stranger Things." I know I've mentioned my sister's influence on my television viewing different times over the course of this production, and this felt like a fantastic opportunity to chat with her directly. So much fun! In my Classic Collection, I take almost a disc-by-disc deep dive on what I was finding in this set, beginning with a third meet-cute storyline I encountered in this set: the first season finale of "Human Target." Also, comments on "Arrested Development," "The Simpsons," "FlashForward," "Archer," "24," "Caprica," "Community," "Mercy," "Ugly Betty," "Parks and Recreation," "Justified," 2002 and 2005 MTV Movie Award shows, "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report," "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" C-SPAN coverage of the Affordable Care Act, "Breaking Bad," "The Big Bang Theory," "Jawbreaker," "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" "Batman Returns," "The Three Faces of Eve," "Sybil," Union activity at The Minot Daily News, "Star Trek Voyager," "Fawlty Towers," "Monty Python's Flying Circus," commercials and music videos, "LOST," "Cougar Town," "Castle," "Fringe," "Chuck," "Broadway Melody of 1940," "Silk Stockings," "V" and "Damages."  Also surfacing in this cataloging effort I found home movies, including a one-act presented at the Carnegie Center in Minot in 2002 or so called "Excerpts." Friends of mine read from books in my collection: https://bit.ly/3DslFO6 It's a bit silly, but if you think of books on your shelves murmuring to one another, that was the idea I was going for. Then, from 100 episodes, I share 100 clips! But there'd only be 99, right? Well, one of the clips I shared referenced outtakes from a "Michael Caine in Space" sketch on "The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" which, at the time, I had trouble locating. Since then, I was able to locate it here: https://bit.ly/4hnn9XM Enjoy! Finally, in What I've Been Watching, Ralph and I took in Larry Shue's "The Nerd" at the Vernal Theatre downtown, and I shared some thoughts. The company closes out its season with a production of Cole Porter's "Kiss Me Kate" coming up in mid-April, and we're looking forward to it. Tickets and information at https://www.vernaltheatre.com. Enjoying the second installment in Kemper Donovan's ghostwriter mystery series "Loose Lips"! Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 99th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. This set covers discs 1726 to 1750 in my Classic Collection. For my Fuzzy Feature I pulled up the third, fourth and fifth season finale episodes of "Psych," featuring Ally Sheedy as Mr. Yang. Under Cross Connections I trace appearances by Martin Short, Garret Dillahunt, John Mahoney, Devon Gummersall and Golden Thread Jeri Ryan. In my Book Report (around the 20-minute mark if you're looking for it specifically), I review the second installment in auther and fellow podcaster Kemper Donovan's ghostwriter mystery series, "Loose Lips." Authors, egos and personalities clash when a literary symposium set aboard a cruise ship turns deadly. Love it! Copies available here: https://bit.ly/3C11ENN In my Classic Collection, I go into a little more detail about the "Psych" episode Jeri Ryan appeared in, the pilot episode of "Grey's Anatomy," and then I talk about the pilot episodes of "Sons of Tucson" and "American Dad," which showed up in this set.   Finally, in What I've Been Watching, I finally get up to speed with the back catalogs of "Bridgerton" and "Stranger Things." Both are phenomenal shows and I'm very glad people recommended them to me. Very enjoyable use of my downtime watching them; looking forward to the next seasons. Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 98th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. This set covers discs 1701 to 1725 in my Classic Collection. A hilarious sketch from "The Catherine Tate Show" [https://bit.ly/3C2ynT0] touches off my Fuzzy Feature, the two-part 2009-2010 "Doctor Who" Christmas special, "The End of Time." In Cross Connections I highlight appearances by several actors in shows I cataloged in this set, including Amy Acker, Stan Lee, then with the pilot episode of "Parenthood," I encountered so many direct links throughout my media collection including Peter Krause, Lauren Graham, Craig T. Nelson and Mike O'Malley. Fond reflections on Andre Braugher, David Lynch and Linda Lavin, and with his appearance in "Psych," I highlighted actor Bruce Davison as a Golden Thread in my collection. In my Classic Collection, I chat about the 2010 White House Summit on Health Care Reform, and draw connections to "The West Wing" season seven episode "The Debate." Also, The Simpsons 20th Anniversary special, "Dollhouse," "Nip/Tuck" and Stephen Colbert highlighting Eduard Khil, "The Trololo Guy" [https://bit.ly/40dSaqE] in one of his episodes.  In What I've Been Watching, a friend of mine in Minot, Brent Braniff, put together a 20-minute Minneapolis travelogue called "Friends, Family and Waterfalls" [https://bit.ly/4g4lpSA] Also, comments on "Big Bear" (2017) and "Promising Young Woman" (2020). Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 97th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. This set covers discs 1676 to 1700 in my Classic Collection. In my Fuzzy Feature, I talk about the 1946 Holmes and Watson mystery "Dressed to Kill," starring Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce. I chat about the Kyle Smith book they used as a basis for at least the title and the names of a few characters in the 2006 CBS Tom Cavanaugh vehicle "Love Monkey." I found it while attending a book chat author and fellow podcaster Kemper Donovan gave for his debut murder mystery "The Busy Body" in Grand Rapids, Michigan, last April, which gave me an excellent opportunity to highlight the upcoming release of the second installment in his ghostwriter series, "Loose Lips," available for pre-order at www.kensingtonbooks.com/9781496744548/loose-lips/ or any independent bookseller you prefer. In Cross Connections I highlight appearances by several actors in shows I cataloged in this set, including Ray Wise, John Larroquette, Michael Ian Black, Michael Imperioli, Kurt Fuller, Cory Montieth, Benito Martinez, Tyne Daly, Judd Nelson, Liam James and Alyssa Milano. I determined Diedrich Bader likely qualified as a Golden Thread in my collection. In my Classic Collection, I chat about "Who's the Boss?" references in "Community," I do a compare and contrast on "Human Target" and "Archer," with comments on "Desperate Housewives" and "Supernatural." In my Current Collection, I archived family memorial services into my home collection. I also archived "Agatha All Along," "Only Murders in the Building," and the Kamala Harris rally in Milwaukee.  Archiving is on hold while we get ourselves set up in our new home in Utah. Even so, I watched the "Doctor Who" Christmas special on Disney Plus. Comments on that, as well as "Wicked" and "Sonic the Hedgehog 3." While this set covers discs 1651 to 1675 in my Classic Collection, my Fuzzy Feature is again a bit of a departure, exploring my recent local theater production of Edward Albee's "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" I talk about my role as George, my thoughts about taking a second run at this character, and my goal of getting a deeper exploration of him in this TruNorthTheatre.org production. I also added the classic 1966 Liz Taylor/Richard Burton movie to my current collection, and encountered a couple of interesting references to the show in my cataloging efforts for this set, entries at https://www.instagram.com/videofuzzy  In my Classic Collection, I celebrate breaking into my ninth binder of DVD transfers with a look back at highlights from Binder No. 8. I also explore a couple episodes of "Human Target" that turned up in this set. In my Current Collection, I chat about "Only Murders in the Building," "Agatha All Along" and the series finale of "The Umbrella Academy." Finally, in What I've Been Watching, I share my reaction to "The Joker: Folie a Deux." Spoiler alert: It is not positive. Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman, marking my 95th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging thousands of VHS transfers and digital recordings. While this set covers discs 1626 to 1650 in my Classic Collection, my Fuzzy Feature highlights a bit of a deep dive for this effort. From discs 1474 and 1480, I talk about "Hamlet 2" starring Steve Coogan and Catherine Keener. Our regional Capitol Shakespeare troupe presented "Hamlet" this summer, and I include comments from Derek Pich and Schatzy Eichmann, the actors who portrayed Hamlet and Ophelia. The theatrical theme traces as well from a Great Performances 2023 presentation of "Hamlet" I archived from PBS. Plus I'm readying a role in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" for TruNorth Theater, running the weekends of Sept. 20 and Sept. 27, so I'm in a theatrical state of mind. More info available at https://www.trunorththeatre.org/ and https://www.facebook.com/trunorththeatre. In my Classic Collection (VHS-to-DVD), covering discs 1626 to 1650, I talk about archiving dedicated VHS tapes with episodes of "Grey's Anatomy," "Medium," "The Simpsons," "Arrested Development," "Dollhouse," "Brothers & Sisters," "The Office" and "Vampire Diaries," this set featuring "Sleep Alone" by Bat For Lashes: https://bit.ly/4cZdsN8 Also spotted, a bizarre Powerade commerical called "Sport is What You Make It": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAXf9_3pgqY In my Current Collection, I touch very briefly on shows I've archived direct to DVD, but my priority was new digital media I'd acquired, box sets of "The Magicians," "Warehouse 13" and a couple seasons of "The Umbrella Academy." Also, a box set of Rodgers and Hammerstein classics turned up among my mom's effects when she passed this summer, and I'm looking forward to watching them. I included a clip or two from "Rigoletto" my mom recorded for me for a show I was directing in 2001, "The Importance of Being Earnest." My mom and dad's love and support of me and my work in community theater over the years are treasured memories. Baked vanilla pairs with explosive flavors of cinnamon-hot candies, baked pie crust, drizzled in butter, and sweet cake batter. A silky mouthfeel filled with space and the gentle underpinning of sweetness in a long and warming finish. 57.9% ABV. Doc Holliday Straight Kentucky Bourbon Single Barrel Edition Aged 10 Years (SRP: $184): Despite its higher proof, the nose is elegant, with cherry and peach pie aromas, as well as vanilla, deep caramel and soft cedar plants touched with apricot and dates. The sip is warm, yet balanced, with burnt orange, apricot jam, and soft marzipan next to black-tea soaked dates, old figs, and brandy-stewed prunes. There are notes of chocolate and hazelnut at the end with a nice mix of mincemeat pies and sticky toffee pudding. 66.4% ABV.

PS5 Pro seems early...but also right on time? With the difficulty in grabbing a PS5 in the year following its launch, man gamers may feel as though it's too early for there to already be an upgrade to the PlayStation 5. However, it appears that this pro model is not only in production, but also coming as soon as the holiday season 2024. Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection was a much anticipated launch by Aspyr, bringing the classic first two Battlefront games back into the modern gaming sphere with new maps and large online battles. However, its recent launch has resulted in disaster following several server errors, connectivity issues, and bugs. The Suicide Squad game has been anything but successful, with many gamers blaming its focus on games-as-a-service instead of deep storytelling as we've grown to expect from the game's developer, Rocksteady. Unfortunately the allure of potential profits are keeping WB in on games-as-a-service as the studio will be doubling down on its live service offerings.

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman marking my 92nd episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 3,000 VHS transfers and digital recordings. My Fuzzy Feature for this installment, titled "Reunion," I talk about the first four entries I found in that 2005 FOX series. I also share Book Reports on new releases "The Fury" by Alex Michaelides and "The Busy Body," the long-anticipated debut murder mystery by "All About Agatha" podcast host Kemper Donovan. Both are fun reads in very different ways and both come highly recommended. Kemper's podcast "All About Agatha" can be found on Apple Podcasts at https://bit.ly/43j4hnB  With my Classic Collection, cataloging discs 1551 through 1575, I officially have fewer than 1,000 discs to catalog in my classic collection. In this set I found the first episode of "The Tonight Show" aired following the news of Johnny Carson's death in 2005. Also, several music videos and late night show clips, Tim Daly's private eye drama "Eyes," and episodes of "Desperate Housewives," "Grey's Anatomy," "Alias," "LOST" and "Fringe," and an "Ugly Betty" where Justin's class elects him homecoming queen as a joke, but he takes the win in a totally unexpected direction. In my Current Collection I dig into the "Doctor Who" 60-year anniversary specials — and oh yes, there will be spoilers. Also, "Death and Other Details," "Fargo," "Surrealestate," "Feud: Truman Capote and the Swans," "Moonlighting," "Obituary" and "The Floor." In What I've Been Watching, I've taken in the Capitol Shakespeare production of "The Importance of Being Earnest" as well as a couple of movies: "Argylle" and "Wonka." Fun! In this installment, titled "The Prisoner," I feature AMC's 2009 remake of that odd late-'60s production starring James Caviezel and Ian McKellan. In my Classic Collection, cataloging discs 1526 through 1550, I found episodes of "The Closer," "Medium," "Missing," and from Comedy Central, "Drawn Together," "South Park," "Aqua Teen Hunger Force," stand up specials with Patton Oswalt and the year-end wrap-up "Last Laugh 2004" featuring Norm McDonald and Greg Giraldo. In my Current Collection I talk about the "Doctor Who" 60-year anniversary specials, Kenneth Branagh's "A Haunting in Venice," the fifth season of "Fargo," and "A Murder At the End of the World." In Video Outreach I found a couple dozen tapes when we were clearing out my folks home and took a moment to enjoy what remained of their media collection. Highlights included a couple of VHS tapes released by regional musician Gordie "Crazy Fingers" Lindquist [Channel: www.youtube.com/@gordonlindquist2958]. Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this totally '80s installment marks my 89th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 3,000 VHS transfers and digital recordings. This installment, titled "Forever Freestyle," celebrates probably the broadest timeline covered by my classic and current collections, featuring material from every decade between 1930 and 2020. My Fuzzy Feature highlights the 1980s miniseries, network series and the 2009 reboot of "V," including a contemporary clip from my "TV is the New Reading" podcast. I track some Cross Connections through the casts of the original and the reboot such as Jossverse connections to Morena Baccarin, Alan Tudyk and Gina Torres and original series connections through Michael Mantell and Richard T. Jones. A flashback episode of "My Name is Earl" featured an appearance by long-acknowledged Golden Thread Beau Bridges as Carl Hickey. And several arterial connections showed up in "Mercy" including Michelle Trachtenberg, Jane Mulgrew and Elisabeth Moss; "Boston Legal" including Jane Lynch, Megan Mullally and Prime Connector Stephen Tobolowsky with William Shatner, Rene Auberjonois and Armin Shimerman. In my Classic Collection, cataloging discs 1476 through 1500, I encountered an ad for a two-disc set packed with '80s dance hits called "Forever Freestyle." You can see the ad here: https://youtu.be/ZDNlUl706Ls Based on finding it in my collection I added the songs in that compilation to my music collection. Also, I found one of two German-language episodes of "Monty Python's Fliegende Zirkus," the Bravo rebroadcast of "Six Feet Under" episode "Eat a Peach," and a Lexus ad featuring some brilliant stage-management tagged "The safest accident is the one that never happens." You can see that one here: https://youtu.be/Xw3-hOE3l8M Plus comments on "Hamlet 2," "The Prisoner," "The Ninth Gate," "CATS," "The Riches," "Fringe," Ellen hosting the Oscars, a documentary on the 2008 presidential election called "By the People: The Election of Barack Obama" and the 1952 movie "Desk Set." In my Current Collection I talk about the "BoJack Horseman" finale and connections between that and the final season of "Six Feet Under." Also, comments on "Quantumania," "Soup to Nuts," "Michael Shayne, Private Eye" and the third season premiere of "Only Murders in the Building." In What I've Been Watching, comments on "Elemental," "Barbie" and "Grace & Frankie," as well as "Project Runway" and "Crime Scene Kitchen." And in my streaming selections, I took in the series premiere of Nathan Pyle's "Strange Planet" on Apple TV. Fun show! Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 88th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 3,000 VHS transfers and digital recordings. This installment, titled "Psyched Out," fulfills a promise I made years ago, Oct. 2019, in "Ep. 56: Embrace the Deception." This promise was renewed a couple episodes back when a long-awaited first-season episode of "Psych" turned up in my cataloging. That is, the first half of it appeared. My cataloging for this set turned up the second half of that episode, to wit, "Cloudy With a Chance of Murder." I'd already long since added the eighth-season do-over, titled "Remake: AKA Cloudy With a Chance of Improvement" to my current collection. So when the second half of the original turned up, I was able to pull them both up for a long ago promised compare and contrast. And since this installment also marks six years of VideoFuzzy, I took another road trip to Minot to visit my friend Kirk Nybakken to celebrate, take in both episodes back to back and discuss them. I track some Cross Connections through the casts of "Psych," "Six Feet Under," "Bones," "Commander in Chief" and "Killer Instinct" and trace a Golden Thread through my collection with the work of Zjelko Ivanek. In my Classic Collection, cataloging discs 1451 through 1475, along with the remainder of that "Psych" episode I found a whole lot of series recordings with concentrations of "Battlestar Galactica," "Bones," "NUMB3RS," "Six Feet Under" and "24," as well as "The Prisoner" and "Monty Python's Flying Circus." Also, the 78th Annual Oscars celebration, hosted by Jon Stewart, and a bunch of music videos. In my Current Collection I archived the latter seasons of "BoJack Horseman," and took in the Amazon Films production of "The Goldfinch." And under What I've Been Watching, Ralph stood me to a production of "The Machine," which was ridiculous fun. Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 87th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 3,000 VHS transfers and digital recordings. For this installment, titled "Mozzie! The Treasure!" I took a road trip to visit my friend Kirk Nybakken in Minot and we tore into the series premiere of USA Network's original series "White Collar," my Fuzzy Feature for this set. In my Classic Collection, cataloging discs 1426 to 1450, I talk about "FlashForward," "Monk," "Criminal Minds," "Mad Men," "Mercy," "Grey's Anatomy," "Tales from the Darkside," "Nip/Tuck," "Community," "Glee," "The West Wing" and "Battlestar Galactica." Also, with this set I break into a new binder, Binder No. 8, so I take a moment to reminisce about what all turned up in Binder No. 7. In my Current Collection, I only archived one disc, but that included the third season finale of "Kung Fu," and the series premiere of Bob Odenkirk in "Lucky Hank." I also watched the Netflix productions of "Cunk on Earth" and "BoJack Horseman," and Ralph stood me to "The Super Mario Brothers Movie," which was quite a lot of fun. In Cross-Connections I talk about the Studio Murphy Under connections for "Scrubs" and for Stephanie d'Abruzzo, who played the patient at the center of that episode. In my Classic Collection, I talk about the pilot episodes of "Dirt" and "Star Trek: Enterprise," with comments on second-season episodes of "Sons of Anarchy" and "The Prisoner" from 1967 British television. In my Current Collection, I talk about developments in the third season of "Kung Fu" on the CW, and a whole bunch of movies I watched including "Hannah and Her Sisters," "Happy Death Day" and "Happy Death Day 2U," "A Clockwork Orange," "Team America: World Police," "The Devil and Miss Jones," "Gemini Man," "Pressure Point," "Uptown Saturday Night," "Yolanda and the Thief," "Moon," "I Origins," and "Call Me By Your Name." Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 81st episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 3,000 VHS transfers and digital recordings. For this installment, titled "Tell Me What You Don't Like About Yourself," in my Fuzzy Feature, I talk about third-season episodes of Ryan Murphy's "Nip/Tuck" leading up to the third-season finale and reveal of The Carver story arc. A plot point in that set of episodes traced Matt's dating life with a transsexual and a racial purist, and Julia's pregnancy with Conor. I found a photo taken of me at the exact moment Julia emerged from the examination room and her decision to carry Sean's baby to term – that scene, having been recorded to disc 1285, quite by chance marked the midpoint of my Classic Collection. Wow. And since it's been quite a while, I detailed the philosophy behind my "Studio Six Feet Under" challenge, highlighting these productions – Alan Ball's "Six Feet Under" and Aaron Sorkin's "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" – as the mystical centers of my media collection, noting the synthesis of the those energies in Ryan Murphy's "American Horror Stories" – particularly the focus on death and reality television in season six – and other emergent centers, but those two remain solid. Cross connections through Dylan Walsh and Julian McMahon, Bruno Campos, Roma Maffia and Gregory Itzen, K Callan, as well as guest appearances throughout Nip/Tuck, Alec Mapa, Mary Gross, John Goodman, Dixie Carter, Delta Burke and Jean Smart, plus Jayma Mays who appeared in both "Studio 60" and "Six Feet Under," and in Golden Thread, I track appearances by John Billingsley. In my Classic Collection (VHS-to-DVD) I find a disc with episodes from both "Studio 60" and "Six Feet Under," including a follow-up on the appearance of Mary Gross in "The Trip" I mentioned back in episode 67, and John Goodman's appearance as a judge in Pahrump, Nevada in the "Nevada Day" two-parter. I talk about the use of blackface in a third season episode of "Mad Men" at a Derby Day party set in 1963, and other appearances in media, society and politics up through today. Comments on "Veronica Mars," "Hustle," "3 Lbs.," "Medium," the Lincoln Meyer episode of "Boston Legal" and I go into some detail on "Criminal Minds" and "Grey's Anatomy." Also, I found three tiny clips less than a second long that look like they were commercials overwritten with scenes from a second season episode of "Prison Break." One looks like it's from a car commercial. I posted them on my media sites and you can take a look. I don't really have any information about them, but if they look familiar, I'd love to know. Thanks! In my Current Collection (direct-to-DVD), I archived the State of the Union Address, and historian Heather Cox Richardson's interview with President Biden. Also, the first season of "We Baby Bears," some "Kids in the Hall," "Doctor Who" and "Better Call Saul." In What I've Been Watching, I took in a high school stage production of "The Book of Will," a community theater production of "See How They Run," and such movies as Robert Pattinson in "The Batman" and Kenneth Branagh's production of Agatha Christie's "Death on the Nile." Our host for the "Book of Will," my friend Kirk Nybakken, reminded me during intermission of our 2005 production of another Agatha Christie production, "Towards Zero" in which he'd played Neville Strange and I'd taken on the role of ancient barrister Mathew Treves. He recalled our Inspector Battle, Troy Madl, taking sick one night and his constable, Les Younger, heroically stepping into the Detective Inspector Battle role to get us through the final reveal. I reminded Kirk of the night I'd forgotten my lines at a critical moment and he had to cue me in character to get us through to the finale. Couple of serious day-savers! Well, I was reminded of all of that while putting this together because Troy had been couch-surfing at my place while the "Towards Zero" was going on and his quick thinking resulted in that photo of me reacting to that moment in "Nip/Tuck." Thank you Troy, and thank you Kirk, for that fun trip down memory lane. And on the topic of Christie-related memories, I got some nice feedback from Kemper Donovan of the "All About Agatha" podcast regarding my "At Bertram's Hotel" entry around the 25-minute mark of episode 76, "Building a Mystery." I posted my 10th ever "VideoFuzzy: The Video" installment at https://youtu.be/vu_HaYaiOAk with comments from my Fuzzy Feature and the backstory on that photo. This will likely mark my signoff for those entries. They're fun to put together, but unless something really demands a visual component, I think my audio-only format should be just fine. The audio availability will continue on YouTube and wherever you get your podcasts. And this will likely be my last regular entry for a while. With out-of-town adventures and friends visiting from overseas, it has taken more than two months to put this one together despite my very best efforts. I just need to take a break, focus on some life stuff and oh yeah, plow through a BUNCH of media piled up on my Midco box. I've been making semi-regular submissions since I started this project 80 episodes ago in June of 2017 with disc 229, cataloged through disc 1300 with a deep-dive bringing in my entire backlog with episode 10. It'll be a good break, but we're not talking years. I've still got this uncharted collection of media to go through and I absolutely want to get through it and talk about it. In the meantime, explore my back catalog, click through my blog, and if there's anything you'd like more information about, please let me know. Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 79th episode of VideoFuzzy, reporting the progress I've made in cataloging nearly 3,000 VHS transfers and digital recordings. Wishing everyone a safe and healthy 2022! For this installment, titled "The Play's the Thing," in my Friday Night Feature I talk about show-within-a-show plot points I encountered in "Leverage," "Burn Notice," "The Closer," "Monk," "Hung," "In Plain Sight," "The Simpsons," "Drop Dead Diva" and "Better Off Ted," and their place and use in productions. In Cross Connections, I explore K. Callan's appearances as a Golden Thread through a lot of the media I grew up watching and throughout my media collection, and representing the tightest connection I've found so far to "Knives Out" through Frances Conroy in "Remington Steele" and Ed Begley Jr. in "St. Elsewhere" to "Six Feet Under," binding quite a few shows to the mystical center of my media collection in my "Studio Six Feet Under" challenge. I also noted Justina Machado in the "One Day at a Time" reboot puts every Norman Lear production also one step removed from "Six Feet Under." And K Callan's involvement in several shows featured in Chris Cooling's podcast "Forgotten TV" gave me a great opportunity for a quick shoutout to that excellent production. Other connections I talk about in my Classic Collection discussion include Christine Baranski's appearance in "Psych" with the more usual recurring character of Cybill Shepherd in "Cybill." Also, John Schneider's appearances in "Dirty Sexy Money," "Nip/Tuck" and "Leverage," and connections through "The Closer," "Cougar Town," "Drop Dead Diva" and "Rescue Me." In Fond Reflections, together with the loss to the world of Betty White, I extend my deep condolences to the "All About Agatha" podcast team, with the sudden passing of cohost Catherine Brobeck, celebrating her contributions in superlative discussion, debate and insights into the vast majority of mystery novelist, Queen of Crime Agatha Christie's body of work, and all the best to Kemper Donovan in the wake of the devastating loss of his friend and cohost in this more than five year journey. It was so good to have this too brief acquaintance. In my Classic VHS-to-DVD collection, discussion of dustups on "Rescue Me," additional cross connections, a screen capture of cool art I saw in "Burn Notice" I posted to VideoFuzzy's Instagram account, a clip from Portishead's "Only You" in the cold open for "Warehouse 13," and the Comedy Central Roast of Joan Rivers. Also, tracking the car crash I foreshadowed a couple episodes back, documenting some weirdness I encountered in hopping from Binder No. 6 to Binder No. 7 – a blank disc, two copies of disc 1241 (now marked 1241-1 and 1241-2), and the odd displacement of Disc 1449, now exhaustively documented among this latest installment of "History's Most Boring Mysteries." In my Current direct-to-digital collection, discussion of "Doctor Who: Flux," exploring Weeping Angels, Division, an Ood, the Mad Mole of Liverpool, a snake alien involved from the earliest beginnings of UNIT, and at the center of it all, a tri-phasic Doctor and her team with chameleon arch tech, a grumpy doggo, a planet called Time, the Temple of the Mora and a confrontation with the Vanquishers while a Gallifreyan scientist tries to destroy the universe from outside of it. Also, commentary on "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind," "Queens," "Live in Front of a Studio Audience: The Facts of Life and Diff'rent Strokes" and the 2002 Bruce Willis movie "Bandits" featuring Tanita Tikaram's "Twist in my Sobriety." And in What I've Been Watching, Ralph and I have been watching "My Hero Academia," and we recently took in the prequel installment, "The King's Man." Fun show. Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 70th episode of "VideoFuzzy," reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 2,900 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Crossroads," I hope everyone had a great "Stay Inside"-oween and "Wash Your Hands"-giving, and wish everyone a Merry "Six-Feet Aparts"-mas, and eight magical days of "Mask Up." Working together, we will get through this. ❤ In Old Business, a few followup comments on Jeffrey Dean Morgan's appearance on "Grey's Anatomy," and I was able to complete a couple of partial recordings of "Monk" and "Twilight Zone" episodes I've known about in my classic collection. In my Friday Night Feature, I celebrate the appearance of the pilot episode of Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse" in my media collection, and I talk about my love for the show, the introduction to the concept and its vast, unfulfilled potential. In Cross Connections, I trace "Dollhouse" and Eliza Dushku in my "Studio Six Feet Under" challenge, and Bernadette Peters as a Golden Thread in my media collection, several others I've encountered in this cataloging effort, and introduce something I called an "alter thread" with actor John Bedford Lloyd appearing in many, many shows that in a very slightly different universe I'd probably be watching. In my Classic Collection (VHS-to-DVD), I talk about Ally Sheedy's debut as serial killer Mr. Yang in the third season finale of "Psych." Also, comments on "Grey's Anatomy," "Fringe," "The West Wing," "The Simpsons" and "Life." In my Current Collection (direct to DVD), I watched the debates in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election, and talk about the intersection of politics and news media and my perspectives on both. Also, comments on the series finale of "Supernatural," with a quick shoutout to Neoni's cover of Kansas's "Carry On My Wayward Son" -- perfect vibe. Also, "Superstore," "Fargo," the FX miniseries "Wilderness of Error," the "One Day at a Time" Netflix reboot and take a pass on "B Positive." In Videofuzzy at the Movies, comments on Uma Thurman in "Down a Dark Hall" (2018), "Darkman" (1990), "Dear White People" (2014), "Slither" (2006), "Purple Rain" (1984), "Crazy Rich Asians" (2018), "The Snowman" (2017), "Oceans 8" (2018), "Darkest Minds" (2018), "Unfriended: The Dark Web" (2018), and "Searching" (2018). In my special "The First Thousand" segment, I talk about a few highlights from the first thousand discs I've cataloged in my classic collection, fun short-run series, forgotten favorites, movies, pilots, quirky outtakes and history I've archived in discs 0001-1000. And in By the Numbers, every 10 episodes I update my cataloging progress, both from my last update in episode 60 back in January 2020 and for this collection overall. As of this episode, I find I have cataloged nearly half a year's worth of media combined in 1,025 discs in my Classic Collection and 360 discs in my Current Collection, so ... progress. Enjoy! TOP TEN: I've added a "Top Ten" episode guide for people looking for a quick read-in on this blog and podcast effort. Enjoy!

In Corrections, the release date on the next James Bond, "No Time to Die," has been pushed to next year sometime. Also, I admit to cultural appropriation at times in this production, slipping into voice and characters in my podcast, impressions and other instances. I try to limit the inappropriateness of these instances, but I am aware of them, and if something sounds wrong, please contact me. I'm always trying to do better. In Old Business, I wanted to highlight and celebrate other aspects of comedian Sarah Silverman's work, and wish her a happy 50th in December. In my Friday Night Feature, I find a strong episode of "Grey's Anatomy" on disc 976, centered on a death row inmate who is expressing contrition and a wish that his organs, scheduled for termination at the hand of the state, save a young boy in need of a liver transplant. I pulled up a past episode for some background on the story arcs this fifth-season episode, "Stairway to Heaven," resolves, closing on a stark realization for Izzy Stevens in hallucinating her late boyfriend Denny Duquette. In cross connections, I am struck by how the realities of cancer have touched, darkened, textured and destroyed lives of patients, survivors, friends and families throughout human history. My show title is from an interview by late Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who succumbed to cancer recently. I noted several storylines I'd traced in discs from this set like "Grey's Anatomy," "Nip/Tuck" and "Battlestar Galactica" and other shows in my collection, together with such high-profile losses of Ginsburg, Gwen Ifill, Richard Hatch, Eddie Van Halen and Diana Rigg. In more conventional cross connections, I look at Eric Stolz in "Grey's Anatomy," Dina Meyer in "Nip/Tuck," Gena Rowlands and Marc Vann in "Monk," Andy Richter in "Bones," Danny Strong in "Leverage," Maggie Siff in ABC's "Life on Mars" reboot, Mira Sorvino and Omar Sharif in NBC miniseries "The Last Templar," Tom Irwin in "24" and "LOST," and oh WOW there were just a ton of cross-connections in the office dramedy "Trust Me," including Eric McCormick, Tom Cavanaugh, Tim Russ, Jason O'Mara, Adam Scott, Monica Potter, Griffon Dunn and Rhea Seehorn. I close out by tracing a Golden Thread on Chase Kim, appearing in my recording of "Leverage" on disc 1000. In my classic VHS-to-DVD collection, comments on an episode of "Fringe" open onto a Fond Reflection on the recent passing of Diana Rigg. On a related note, a fan posted this video celebrating the vivacious Mrs. Emma Peel. Also, I've archived a recording from the inauguration of Barack Obama across four discs, with comments on the season 4 finale of "The West Wing," "Battlestar Galactica," "Nip/Tuck" and "South Park," Fox Movie Channel's presentation of "Looking for Richard," and the Turner Classic Movies presentation of "Annie Hall." In my Current direct-to-DVD recordings, comments on "Fargo," "Archer," Syfy's presentation of "Dead Still," IFC's presentation of "Eyes Wide Shut" and the Sundance presentation of "The Green Mile." Plus I trace the rather eye-popping body of work by actor Steven Tobolowsky. Finally, I have updated my Facebook and podcast page to include a "top ten" episode guide for people looking for a quick read-in on this blog and podcast effort. Enjoy!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 61st episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Watching Terrible Movies," I open with reflections on the recent passing of Terry Jones, and celebrate some of his iconic work with Monty Python's Flying Circus. In my "Friday Night Feature," I talk about "Fata Morgana," a first-season episode of "Sanctuary" on Syfy, and chat about some of the strengths and weaknesses of the show at this stage of its production. I trace Cross Connections to the show, as well as Terry Jones' work, and appearances by Nicholas Brendan and Marc Vann in "Criminal Minds." In my Classic Collection, I talk about Monty Python sketches I was cataloging as I learned of Jones' passing. Also, David Alan Grier's Comedy Central production "Chocolate News," and some Daily Show and Colbert Report's interstitial tomfoolery called "Who's the Toss?" In my Current Collection, I talk about the animated reproduction of an original series fourth season serial of "Doctor Who" from the Patrick Troughton era, "The Macra Terror," then trace some of those themes through some more recent episodes, along with comments on "Fugitive of the Judoon." I then chat about "Supernatural," "Superstore" and "The Magicians," and explore a few thoughts about the series finale of "The Good Place" -- just ... wow. In "VideoFuzzy at the Movies," I chat with Jesse Zimmerman of "The Average Movie Nerd" blog in the title reference for this episode, to wit: Watching Terrible Movies. We got together and watched "The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra" (2001) "Hail Caesar" (1994), "Rockula" (1990) and "Repo! The Genetic Opera" (2008) and then ... discussed them. Finally, in Upcoming Shows, a look ahead at the return of "Miracle Workers: The Dark Ages" on TBS, "Better Call Saul" on AMC and "The Sinner" on USA, premieres of "Briarpatch" on USA and "Indebted" on NBC, plus "Birds of Prey" opens in theaters, looks like a fun romp. Enjoy!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 60th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Happy New ... What Year Is This Again?" I open with comments on recent celebrity deaths including Marie Fredriksson, Philip McKeon, Caroll Spinney, and under Cross Connections, a retrospective of René Auberjonois, highlighting his appearances on "Benson" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." I feature the appearance of the series premiere of ABC's "Life on Mars" in my collection, and include an expansive reflection of the connections I draw from that show through my formative media consumption, through "Barney Miller," "The Unusuals" and "Detroit 1-8-7" and potentially "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." In my Classic Collection, I talk about the series premiere of "Sanctuary," a Waco-themed episode of "Criminal Minds," a promo that turned up for the Mouse River Players' production of Neil Simon's "Plaza Suite" I did with Kymn Quill in Minot, and series I encountered while plowing through my archives to get into my new binder, including "The West Wing," "Six Feet Under," "Fringe," "Eli Stone" and "My Own Worst Enemy," as well as highlights running up to the 2008 election. In my Current Collection, I talk about the 12th season premiere of "Doctor Who," a whole bunch of music videos from the '80s and several movies including "The Revenant," "Fathom," the "Flatliners" remake, "Next," "Mr. Peabody and Sherman," "Stand By Me," "Gremlins." Then in What I've Been Watching, I share some thoughts on "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" from across four decades of storytelling. Finally, in "By the Numbers," I talk about a couple milestones, first on hitting episode 60 in this podcasting effort, and then the somewhat more significant milestone of breaking into Binder No. 5. At about 1,700 hours on 835 discs in my Classic Collection and some 1,800 hours on 295 discs in my Current Collection, I've cataloged nearly 3,500 hours on more than 1,100 discs in my media collection, which feels like a good amount of progress. Binder No. 3 took about a year, and this past one took about 10 months, so even my pace is improving. All that said, I'm now in Binder No. 5 of thirteen, so ... definitely a ways to go yet. Cheers!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 57th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Cutting that LVAD Wire," I feature Alan Ball's HBO project "True Blood." In Cross Connections, there's no "Studio Six Feet Under" competition on "True Blood," given "Six Feet Under" series creator Alan Ball's direct connection. Rather, I traced connections from a couple significant episodes of "Boston Legal," Kurt Sutter productions "The Shield" and "Sons of Anarchy," "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles," "Rescue Me" and "Monk," and I premiere a Golden Thread segment with Dean Norris, tracking his appearances in shows throughout my collection. In my Classic VHS-to-DVD Collection, I found a pivotal episode of "Grey's Anatomy" along with comments on the series finale of "Dead Like Me," the 2006 Amnesty International fundraiser "The Secret Policeman's Ball," the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, the 2008 Emmy Awards, "The Office," "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," the Spanish Inquisition pops up in "Monty Python's Flying Circus," and from "The Daily Show," in Jon Stewart's Wacky Lists of Things, I break down the "network of gay staffers" conservatives were attributing as somehow responsible for Rep. Mark Foley's allegedly untoward texts and emails to young male pages. In VideoFuzzy at the Movies, I ran into copies of "Fracture" and "Michael Clayton" in my Classic Collection, and from my Current Collection, I chat about H.G. Wells' 1936 "Things to Come," which aired on community access. In my direct-to-DVD Current Collection, comments on "Bob's Burgers," "Superstore," "The Good Place," "Supernatural," "American Horror Story 1984," "Will & Grace," "Cake" and Twitter teases involving "Perfect Harmony" and "Doctor Who." Finally, in What I've Been Watching, some thoughts on the fourth season premiere of "Mr. Robot." Enjoy!

September has come ‘round and I am bursting with enthusiasm.  So in that state of mind, Season 4 of Lush Life - The Classic Collection will commence next Tuesday .  I’m Susan Schwartz, your drinking companion, and this is Lush Life Podcast, every week we are inspired to live life one cocktail at a time by the best in the industry.   The Classic Collection...hmm what’s that I hear you asking yourself? Well, Season 4 is bringing it all down to basics.  Why you may ask?  I’ve been busy all summer rereading the classics - as in my essential New York Times Book of Cocktails, Robert Simonson’s wonderful book A Proper Drink, all about the revival of the modern cocktail craze, and my very own signed copy of David Wondrich’s Esquire Drinks. These great minds have reminded me that if you don’t know your classics how can you move forward. As a layman and I mean layman in cocktail making, it’s time to go back and master the old-fashioned, martini, negroni before purchasing a centrifuge to make the Boys to  the Yard like Liquid Intellect! So what does this mean for our season ahead? Our guest are still the greats of the drinking world. Still the movers and shakers of the industry! Don’t you worry? I’ll just be mixing in a little more history to the classic cocktail of the week and you might even see some video instruction along the way on alushlifemanual.com. But don’t think I am stuck in the past.  There are so many new things happening in the Lush Life world that I can’t wait to tell you about, but you will just have to wait until next week! I can’t leave you without a cocktail of the week - so as the last days of summer are fading away here in London  the most famous of all summer cocktails seemed to be the perfect choice.   The Aperol Spritz - whose history we’ll go into in a later episode. Ingredients 3 oz Prosecco 2 oz Aperol 1 oz  Soda One green olive Method Mix all the ingredients into a wine glass with ice and stir. Garnish with an olive if you want it really Venetian.    We’re talking classic here! You’ll find this recipe, plus all the cocktails of the week at ALushLifeManual.com, where you’ll also find all the ingredients in our shop.    ----- Become a patron of A Lush Life Manual for as little as $1 a month - less than Starbucks: www.Patreon.com/LushLife Lush Life Merchandise is here - we’re talking t-shirts, mugs, iPhone covers, duvet covers, iPad covers and more covers for everything!  and more!  Produced by Simpler Media Follow us on Twitter and Instagram Get great cocktail ideas on Pinterest New episodes every Tuesday, usually!!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 53rd episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "We Are As Gods," I highlight a short-lived Steven Bochco courtroom cable drama "Raising the Bar," pulling up the pilot episode for my Friday Night Feature. In Cross Connections, I trace "Studio Six Feet Under" connections from that show through J. August Richards and Teddy Sears, then tracking actors Mark-Paul Gosselaar and J. August Richards' multiple appearances throughout my collection, as well as golden thread represented by Mark A. Sheppard. In my Classic VHS-to-DVD Collection, I found several fifth-season episodes of "24," along with a few episodes of Monty Python's Flying Circus, featuring some racist language that has not aged well, but also featuring a couple of housewives pondering the human condition culminating in a visit to Jean-Paul Sartre, so these guys, you gotta take the good with the bad. Also, Tom Cavanagh in "Love Monkey" and The Daily Show's spoof of the Obama intro video at the 2008 DNC. Then, as the title reference for this entry, I found Tom Lenk as Andrew Wells in "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," the seventh season episode "Storyteller," a scrap of video featuring The Trio dancing about in Elysium fields with gold and a unicorn singing "We Are As Gods." I took a run at recreating that here, and in all modesty .. nailed it. :D In my Nerd Shows, my Classic Collection also turned up an episode in a History Channel science series called "Evolve," tracking the evolution and adaptation of skin across so many millions of years and species. Fascinating. In my direct-to-DVD Current Collection, I discuss the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards, "Pose," "Preacher," "Claws" and "A Million Little Things." Samantha Bee highlights expanded reproductive services provided at clinics in southern states to expand public support. In VideoFuzzy at the Movies, I touch on broadcast presentations of "I Now Pronounce you Chuck and Larry," "Dragonwyck," "I Wake Up Screaming," "The Bishop Murder Case," "Hangover Square," "Spider-Man: Homecoming," "The Bone Collector" and "The Perfect Guy," as well as "Sweet Charity," "Steel Magnolias" and "Woman Times Seven," featuring Shirley MacLaine and Peter Sellers. Finally, I encountered the Turner Classic Movies presentation of Vanessa Redgrave and Dustin Hoffman in 1979's "Agatha," exploring the real-life disappearance of queen of crime Agatha Christie. I first heard about that intriguing little speculation on the "All About Agatha" podcast by Kemper Donovan and Catherine Brobeck, and you can check that out here. In What I've Been Watching, Ralph and I recently finished watching all episodes of "Polar Bear Cafe" on Crunchyroll, and in upcoming shows, we'll be taking in the Fargo-Moorhead Community Theater production of Michael Frayn's "Noises Off!" They do a great job and I'm very much looking forward to that.

This week is a very special edition of Because of Horses! Your host, Elise Gaston Chand, talks with some of the horse world’s most accomplished equestrians — sharing their riding and training philosophies, their insights into horses, advice for aspiring competitors, and their fondest memories of the Hampton Classic Horse Show! These featured guests are Georgina Bloomberg, Kelli Cruciotti, Peter Wylde, Joe Fargis, and Chief Press Officer Marty Bauman.   For over 40 years, the Classic has featured world-class riders and horses — including Olympic and Pan American Games medalists — from around the globe, competing for $800,000 in prize money. With something for everyone, from the avid horse lover to the non-equestrian spectator, the Classic is one of the largest outdoor horse shows in the U.S.; a not-to-miss segment on the summer tour. Where else can you watch McLain Ward, Kent Farrington, and Anne Kursinski compete… then spot Bruce Springsteen watching his phenomenally talented daughter, Jessica, clear a course in record time? Or see Steven Spielberg, Jerry Seinfeld, Kelly Ripa, Brooke Shields, or Martha Stewart stroll by?   The Classic is also an event straight from the heart with fundraising and community support, animal adoptions onsite, championship competition for disabled riders, and one of the most anticipated classes during the week-long show: Leadline, with our littlest riders judged by two-time Olympic gold medalist, Joe Fargis.    The Classic runs August 25th through September 1st, 2019, in Bridgehampton, New York.   Ready to talk with the greats? Tune in!   About our accomplished guests: Joe Fargis is one of the greats of show jumping. He trained under the legendary Bertalan de Nemethy and is perhaps best known for his partnership with the Thoroughbred mare Touch of Class, with whom he won the individual and team gold medals at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He also won the team silver medal at the 1988 Seoul Olympics with Mill Pearl. Joe was inducted into the Show Jumping Hall of Fame in 2007 and was awarded the US Equestrian Federation Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012. US Olympian, trainer and youth mentor Peter Wylde is one of the most well-respected horsemen in the sport of show jumping, not just for his extensive competitive success but also his commitment to the education of both amateurs and juniors. Peter is best known for his partnership with Turnabout Farms’ Fein Cera, who he rode to the individual bronze and the Best Horse award at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez, Spain, and the team gold medal at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. Peter is a three-time grand prix winner at the Hampton Classic.   Georgina Bloomberg is a native New Yorker and international show jumper who grew up competing all along the east coast. She made her FEI World Cup Final debut in 2005 and was a member of the winning team in the Samsung Super League Nation’s Cup in France. Georgina was a member of the bronze medal-winning Pan American Games team in 2015 and competed in Gothenburg, Sweden in this year’s Longines FEI World Cup Finals. She is a noted philanthropist, focusing particularly on issues related to animal welfare. Kelli Cruciotti is an emerging star in U.S. show jumping, currently ranked 26th in the country by the United States Equestrian Federation, and a 2020 Olympic hopeful. Kelli enjoyed a storied junior career, with success in all three rings and a win at the coveted 2015 USEF/Pessoa Medal Finals, but today show jumping has become her main passion. After turning professional in 2016, Kelli has continued to pile up top results in the jumper ring at such prestigious shows as Devon, Harrisburg, the Hamptons, Capital Challenge, Washington and more. In 2019, she represented the United States in her first Longines FEI World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden, finishing 16th on her mare, Hadja Van Orshof.   Topics of Discussion: [:18] About today’s special episode! Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 51st episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "A Night in SubUrbia," for my Friday Night Feature I talk about a comic British teen drama that turned up on disc 711 in my Classic Collection called "Skins," the show's second-ever episode, centered on Cassie, a teen girl with an eating disorder. In Cross Connections, I trace "Studio Six Feet Under" connections from "Skins" through "Game of Thrones" and "Dark Phoenix," Colin Farrell to a Capitol Shakespeare production I got to and "Parks and Rec" to "Superstore," "The Simpsons," "Brockmire" and 2020 presidential campaign efforts. In "Into the Vaults," I watch a commercial VHS copy of "SubUrbia" that's been sitting unwatched in my media collection since about 2010, highlighting heretofore unexplored portions of my media collection. In my Classic VHS-to-DVD Collection, I encountered "Battlestar Galactica's" pilot episode, noting the absence of the beautiful Sanskrit chant in the opening sequence for that one, highlighting similarities between my discovery of this series and my discovery of the 2002 Labor Day FOX marathon presentation of "24." Finding that episode gave me hope I'll find the pilot episodes of "The Middleman" and "Commander in Chief." Also, comments on "Psych," "Criminal Minds" and the "Raisin Brahms" Americans for the Arts promo. In VideoFuzzy at the Movies, comments on Kids in the Hall "Brain Candy," "A Night at the Roxbury," "Napoleon Dynamite," John Waters' 2007 production of "Hairspray," "Bee Movie," "The Full Monty," "Solace," "The Girl on the Train" and "Gone Girl." In my direct-to-DVD Current Collection, I've archived and cataloged all seven seasons of "Parks and Rec," noting the frustrating absence of the Funniest Line Ever Delivered in a Situation Comedy. Also, comments on "Pearson," "Archer: 1999," "Pose," "Claws," "Legion," "Psych" and "Full Frontal," featuring Samantha Bee and her Wacky Lists of Things! In Nerd Shows, I dedicated a disc to three two-hour PBS presentations of Roger Smith's "American Experience: Chasing the Moon," that production timed to observe the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Mission. In What I've Been Watching, I took in Capitol Shakespeare's production of "The Winter's Tale," and in Upcoming Shows, looking forward to "Preacher" and this fall's season of Bravo's "Project Runway" remix featuring Christian Siriano. In this installment, titled "Podcasting in Plain Sight," I finally chat about "In Plain Sight" for my Friday Night Feature, a first-season episode featuring a somewhat cheesy '80s-style murder mystery plot centered at an art gallery, in which I draw connections between this show and "Burn Notice," another USA Networks production. In Cross Connections, I trace connections from "In Plain Sight" and from a rather eye-popping string of appearances by actor Patrick Fischler throughout my media collection. In the VHS-to-DVD transfers I talk about for my Classic Collection, touched off by a slug of episodes of "The Simpsons," I trace synchronous Bob Fosse references, off-putting late-series installments of "Monty Python's Flying Circus," and I trace connections through Spike TV's short run basic cable improv sitcom "The Factory." In my direct-to-DVD Current Collection, I zip through comments on "Supernatural," "A Discovery of Witches," "Superstore," "Brockmire," "Fosse Verdon," "Happy," and in movies, I added the FX presentations of M. Night Shyamalan's "Split" and Marvel's "X-Men Apocalypse," Dorothy L Sayers' "Haunted Honeymoon" (1940) and Agatha Christie's "Murder, She Said" (1961), and Mel Brooks' "Blazing Saddles" (1974). Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 46th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging now more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Podcast by the NUMB3RS," I put a shoulder into a third season episode of "NUMB3RS" and talk about it for my Friday Night Feature. In Cross Connections, I trace connections from "NUMB3RS," "Fear Itself," "Boston Legal," "Happy!" "Grizzly Bear Stakeout" and "Polar Bear Family and Me." In the VHS-to-DVD transfers I talk about for my Classic Collection, I found episodes of "Commander in Chief," "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," "Monty Python's Flying Circus," an altogether ooky frame from an M&Ms commercial with the M&Ms dressed as The Addams Family, and music videos by The All American Rejects, The Killers, Lady Sovereign, Paris Hilton and Fergie. In Crowdsourcing, I need some help with a "Shakespeare for Complete Idiots" sketch from MADtv featuring Josh Meyers. I'm looking for help identifying his co-star in that sketch in Crowdsourcing Exhibit F, with screencaps here. In my direct-to-DVD Current Collection, I bring in episodes of "BoJack Horseman," "Will & Grace," "Miracle Workers," "Grey's Anatomy," "Fosse Verdon," "Happy!" "Supernatural," "Halt and Catch Fire" and "The Polar Bear Family and Me." The fourth season finale of "The Magicians" was absolutely fantastic, including "Houses" by Great Northern, that song here. I caught the series premiere of "A Discovery of Witches" and I caught a couple of movies: Taraji P. Henson in "Hidden Figures" and Peter Sellers in "Being There." Shoutouts to David Dean Bottrell's "Working Actor" and Voices of Deconversion's second anniversary -- congratulations! I got a correction, and in Upcoming Shows I'm looking forward to seeing "Avengers: Endgame," a local production of "Noises Off!" and series resumes of "Luther" and "Pose." Happy viewing!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 45th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Death and the Podcast," I encounter one of my very favorite movies, the IFC presentation of "Death and the Maiden" (1994) on disc 653, and talk about it for my Friday Night Feature. In the VHS-to-DVD transfers I talk about for my Classic Collection, I found episodes of "Fear Itself," "MI-5," "Doctor Who," "South Park," and "Monty Python's Flying Circus." In Cross Connections I found, I celebrate dynamic performances of widely variant characters by Missi Pyle in episodes of "Boston Legal" and "In Plain Sight." Also of note: The new season of "Brockmire" will feature Richard Kind, J.K. Simmons, Martha Plimpton and Linda Lavin. Also, I track a possible sighting of Evan Peters in "The Inside," along with an actual sighting of Garret Dillahunt. In my direct-to-DVD Current Collection, I encounter the second season of "Good Behavior," four Shatterbox productions, employee chat banter in "Superstore," President Trump banter in "Full Frontal," BBC America's "The Great Bear Stakeout," the "Deadly Class" finale, and the second season premiere of "Happy!" In What I've Been Watching, "Captain Marvel" was amazing. I won't likely be watching "Shazam," but I'm definitely looking forward to "Avengers: Endgame." Also, we took in the University of Mary stage production of "The 39 Steps" at the Belle Mehus in downtown Bismarck, which was absolutely fantastic. In Upcoming Shows, I'm looking forward to the new season of "Brockmire" on IFC, and the series premiere of "A Discovery of Witches."

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 42nd episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Life, This Podcast and Everything," as I break into my fourth binder of DVDs, I discover the second half of the pilot episode of "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," which I assert is the mystical center of my personal media universe: Despite its having aired for only one season in 2006-07, it is remarkably easy to highlight connections between this show and just about everything else in my media collection. In my Classic Collection, I highlight significant episodes of "Dead Like Me," a mess of "Monty Python's Flying Circus" episodes and the goofy fourth season premiere of "Wire in the Blood" as well as "The Shield," "Nip/Tuck," "South Park," "The Simpsons" and the 2007 documentary "Prison Nation" on National Geographic. In my Current Collection, I talk about "I Am the Night" on TNT, "Surviving R. Kelly" and "Escaping the Madhouse: The Nellie Bly Story" on Lifetime, with comments on "grown-ish," "A Million Little Things" and "The Good Place," as well as Syfy presentations of "The Magicians," "Deadly Class" and an episode of "The Twilight Zone" featuring Carol Burnett. Also, I discuss my approach to spoilers. Finally, I'm still looking for assistance with crowdsourcing Exhibit E, sketch comedy featuring young women in medieval times. Photos posted here.

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 40th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Familiar Arguments," Ralph and I took in a comedy show in New Town with Gabriel Iglesias, better known as Fluffy. We spent Christmas Eve driving around town looking at Christmas lights, a tradition I'm coming to enjoy. For my Friday Night Feature, I talked about a fourth season episode of "Boston Legal" from April 2008 which explored the relative merits of then primary candidates Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and the validity of the primary process for both parties. Also, they took on cloned beef and the FDA. In my Classic Collection, I encounter "Mayored to the Mob" a 10th season episode of "The Simpsons" featuring Mark Hamill and which introduced the "Yes Guy." Also, some decent episodes of "Samantha Who?" "Reaper" and "MI-5," and the first season finale of Showtimes's "Dexter" as rebroadcast on CBS. In my Current Collection, I grabbed three more season 1 episodes of "The Magicians" on SyFy -- but not before missing the first SEVEN of them [grumble, grouse]. Netflix series "BoJack Horseman" as rebroadcast on Comedy Central is darkly compelling, "A Million Little Things" is getting a little hamfisted with the drama, but "Doctor Who" had a fantastic season finale and "The Good Place," well ... that show continues to amaze. In What I've Been Watching, Ralph and I took in "Mary Poppins Returns" and "Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse." Both are excellent, go see them and I'll just mention -- stay through the credits on Spidey; it's worth it. ;) And in that this is my 40th episode, I've included stats in Crunching Some Numbers. Finally, this past weekend I put together the second-ever installment of "VideoFuzzy: The Video! Ep. 2: Pics, News and Weather." It includes the most complete look I've found my VHS collection as of 2007, a bit of background and what's been going on with me. Click here to check it out, and have a fantastic 2019!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 39th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,700 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "A Million Little References," I talked about a musical stage production of "A Christmas Story" we got to that they're running for another week at the FMCT -- go see that if you can, they do a fantastic job. For my Friday Night Feature, I talked about a fourth season episode of "Doctor Who" called "The Fires of Pompeii" that I really enjoyed. It feels like most of the time when I talk about "Doctor Who" I'm complaining about this or that, so I wanted to just revel in the positives, not least of which this preunion of David Tennant, Catherine Tate and Peter Capaldi as 2-1/2 Doctors, along with a pre-Pond appearance by Karen Gillan as a soothsayer -- outstanding! In my Classic Collection, along with a bunch of the usual, I discovered episodes of "Terminal City," a strong if unfortunately interrupted performance by George Michael in the first season finale of "Eli Stone," the BBC America counterterrorism production of "MI-5," several first season episodes of "The Sarah Jane Adventures" on Syfy, as well as Syfy's presentation of the 1995 "Ghost in the Shell" Puppet Master anime. In my Current Collection, I managed to completely empty out my DVR and catalog most of my current collection, up to disc X202. I watched my season 5 pileup of AMC's 10th year anniversary reairing of "Breaking Bad," which figured heavily in the backlog. Unfortunately, this interfered a lot with progress on my Classic Collection, contributing to the lateness of this installment. Along with "Breaking Bad," I archived episodes on either side of midterm elections from Samantha Bee's "Full Frontal" and "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" I'll have to go back and catalog properly. I also brought in episodes from season 1 of Netflix original "BoJack Horseman" as rebroadcast on Comedy Central, as well as episodes of "The Good Place," "Superstore" and that ABC production of "A Million Little Things" my friend Jesse Zimmerman talked to me about in Episode 38 and which I was only able to watch three or four episodes of that, but maybe ABC will put the whole thing back on demand at some point. Speaking of missing episodes, I couldn't find the "Doctor Who" season 11 episode "Kerblam!" anywhere, but I think they're planning a marathon from the current season in the run-up to the Christmas episode so ... keeping an eye out. And in other Nerd Shows, comments on "Hacking the Universe" and "How the Universe Works." Finally, in What I've Been Watching, Ralph and I got over to watch "Ralph Breaks the Internet," which was awesome. Be sure to stay to the end for the preview of "Frozen 2"!

I met Emily Kuvin at the Jewelers of America Jewelry show in New York this past summer. She was featured as one of a select few designers in the New Designer Gallery, curated and selected by Liz Kantner. She’s been featured on Gem Gossip’s site with her Stella jewelry, and now I’m so excited to have her as today’s guest on the podcast. What I find so interesting about Emily is how she balances the business and design side of her jewelry with the skills and background from her education and prior careers. With a degree in history and English, she continued into the field of journalism, and was a news broadcast journalist. She returned to school for a law degree, and practiced law before deciding to pursue a long lasting interest of jewelry design. Her career experience and research skills as a journalist and in her law profession serve her well in her jewelry business. She seamlessly balances a mix of aesthetic understanding with business practicality. Currently, her two collections grow from classical influence, yet offer an elegant and whimsical style. The Stella (the latin root of the word, star) collection consists of various sizes of organically formed stars with nine arms. Using an organic star motif, one can interpret her Stella collection to express an appreciation for stars and a respect for the vast universe, or as a resemblance to the “kapow” super hero comic strip graphic as a way to recognize internal strength in a fun and whimsical way. The largest design, Stella and a medium size, Stellina are featured as necklaces and earrings. In the center of each Stella and Stellina piece is an oval gemstone surrounded by six small diamonds sprinkled around the center stone and in the middle of the stars’ arms. Gems like morganite, tourmaline, amethyst, and turquoise are just a few of the gems she uses in all her designs. The Classical Collection is the second line of jewelry featured in Emily Kuvin Jewelry Design. Inspired by the iconic pyriamids of ancient Egypt, for which she had an affinity for studying as a young girl, Emily grew her Classical collection based on triangular forms and gems. Emily combines the triangualr form that three small, bezel set gems with trillion shaped gems as the basis for her Classic Collection. Both her collections are unique and offer a distinguished celebration to stand out with elegance that transitions between casual to formal wear. I love how Emily Kuvin’s designs pack a sparkling punch to remind us who we are and to stand up for the super stars we are!

(Yeah, yeah. We know it's the beginning of October, but the guys were a little late getting last month's show recorded.) This time they discuss two intriguing titles, each quite different one from the other. They begin with the inaugural issue of Vérité, a new anthology series out of India featuring classic alternative manga as well as contributions from contemporary Indian artists that have a gekiga feel to them. The guys were glad to see work from Tadao Tsuge, Susumu Katsumata, and Youji Tsuneyama, but they were also taken by fresh Indian voices such as those of Anpu Varkey, Shaunak Samvatsar, Nandita Basu, and Bharath Murthy, Vérité's editor. After that, Shea and Derek discuss Cutie Honey: The Classic Collection, by Go Nagai. This is another one of Seven Seas Entertainment's nice hardbound collections of classic 1970s manga, other titles including Captain Harlockand Devilman. The guys emphasize Cutie Honeyas a representative kind of shonen manga for its time, but they spend most of the time discussing the, at times discomforting, sexual or erotic nature of Go Nagai's creation. What was written for a particular audience back in the 1970s may come across as gratuitous or even offensive to more contemporary readers. But both Derek and Shea point out that, despite the erotic weirdness apparent at times, the story is engaging and worth revisiting.

They begin with Leiji Matsumoto's Captain Harlock: The Classic Collection, Vol 1 (Seven Seas Entertainment), a series that originally ran between 1977 and 1979. Captain Harlockis a classic science fiction work, and with a space pirate protagonist who can be seen as a romantic hero. The Two Guys discuss the figure of Harlock as a curious mixture, while at the same time trying to ferret out the his philosophy. In many ways, they see this manga anchored in its time, both aesthetically and politically. But this work definitely isn't limited to it's time and can be appreciated today. Next they turn to Slum Wolf, another translated collection from Tadao Tsuge (New York Review Comics). An earlier collection of Tsuge's work, Trash Market, was released in 2015 by Drawn and Quarterly (which the guys reviewed on their June 2015 episode). Slum Wolfis a collection of nine stories originally published between 1969 and 1978 in various publications such as Garo and Yagyō. It also includes an essay by Tsuge, as well as a outstanding contextual essay by Ryan Holmberg, who also edited and translated the collection. The guys discuss all the stories, to greater or lesser degrees of depth, but they spend most of their time talking about the linking features that bind most of the narratives. As both Derek and Shea point out, this is one of the manga highlights of the year, so far.

In What I've Been Watching, in this past month Ralph and I took in the Medora Musical in Medora, North Dakota, the local Capitol Shakespeare production of "Richard the Third," and on a recent road trip, my friend Nathan Irwin stood us to an outstanding production of "The Merry Wives of Windsor" in Normal, Ill., more information on that here.
