He reflects on Appella Wealth's annual client event, where clients talked more about travel, grandkids, and weather than money—showing that the firm's real value is helping people worry less about markets and more about life. Tom takes listener calls covering whether to renew CDs or move into bond funds, the high costs of closed-end muni funds, portfolio planning with Roth IRAs and target-date funds, estate planning with mutual fund capital gains, and frustrations with annuities. Why does every conversation about climate change feel like we're being asked to sacrifice something? Josh Dorfman, host of the popular Supercool podcast, reveals how this narrative is completely backwards. From Formula-E racing that attracts 500 million viewers without mentioning climate to pneumatic trash systems that make cities cleaner while cutting carbon by 90%, Josh shares how the most effective climate solutions are actually upgrading modern life rather than restricting it. Discover why we're not in an age of climate awareness anymore but rather an "age of adoption," where $2 trillion in annual clean energy investment is quietly revolutionizing everything from home electrification to urban design. Learn about innovative financing approaches that put your money to work for climate solutions while you sleep, and why the future of sustainability isn't about guilt—it's about better living.Subscribe to Most Podern on:Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/show/3zYvX2lRZOpHcZW41WGVrpApple Podcasts - https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/most-podern-podcast/id1725756164Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/@MostPodernInstagram - https://www.instagram.com/most.podernLinkedIn - https://www.linkedin.com/company/most-podernLinksSupercool Podcast and Newsletter: https://getsuper.cool/Supercool on YouTube: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTcMrkjAmgqzv6Jhg6-V52gShRWKdc3t4&si=LXeo-aUlGkoiQbjiSupercool on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/supercool/id1758404839Supercool on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4IUql4twk6OLOl8FTIwN5ZJosh Dorfman on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/dorfmanjosh/Keywordsclimate solutions, sustainability, clean energy investment, electrification, climate tech, renewable energy, Formula E racing, sustainable cities, climate finance, carbon reduction, solar energy, battery storage, climate innovation, green technology, urban planning, sustainable transportation, climate action, environmental technology, clean energy transition, climate entrepreneurship, urban design, architecture, builodingsChapters00:00:00 - Introduction00:01:24 - Challenges in Climate Change00:01:37 - The Slow Progress of Sustainability00:03:35 - The Rise of Sustainability00:04:23 - Personal Journey into Sustainability00:04:37 - The Emergence of Sustainable Design00:07:44 - The Growth of the Sustainability Movement00:10:22 - Sustainability Becomes Cool00:12:10 - The Profitability of Sustainability00:12:56 - The Future of Sustainability00:15:09 - Ingenious Energy Efficiency00:16:09 - The Clean Energy Revolution00:20:03 - The Cost and Adoption of Solar Energy00:20:52 - The Transition to Cleaner Energy Sources00:24:36 - The Role of Policy in Energy Transition00:27:53 - Global Sustainability Efforts00:30:15 - The Cultural Shift Towards Sustainability00:30:47 - Sustainable Urban Planning: The NVAC System00:34:34 - The Role of Leadership in Sustainable Urban Planning00:35:20 - The Success of Sustainable Housing Renovations in Lincoln, Nebraska00:37:13 - The Challenge of Thinking Outside the Box00:42:27 - The Role of Self-Interest in Sustainability00:42:57 - The Success of Formula E and Sustainability in Entertainment00:46:11 - Sustainable Changes in Cities: Examples from Around the World00:49:28 - Individuals Making a Difference in Climate Change00:49:53 - Innovative Financial Tools for Climate Change00:52:27 - The Current Moment in Sustainability: The Age of Adoption

In this episode, hosts Erin Gallardo and Claire McLean interviewed Russell Meyerowitz, the founder of the Parkinson Wellness Fund, a nonprofit with a mission to help PWP (people with Parkinson's) by providing funds for services and equipment that will make life better right now. The Parkinson Wellness Fund was born out of Russell's desire to provide immediate relief and support to families affected by Parkinson's, in contrast to the heavy focus on research and finding a "cure" in the other nonprofits in the Parkinson's community. Russell emphasized the need to address the realities of living with Parkinson's today, including the significant financial and emotional toll on people and their loved ones. The Parkinson Wellness Fund provides grants averaging $350-$400 to cover a wide range of needs, from fitness classes and home modifications to assistive devices. The organization is committed to removing barriers and making their services accessible to all PWP, regardless of their financial situation or location. Russell shared his perspective on the challenges of the current healthcare system and research landscape around Parkinson's. He questioned the focus on finding a "cure" when the costs of living with Parkinson's are already so high for many families. Instead, he advocated for a greater emphasis on improving quality of life through exercise, nutrition, and accessible support services. Russell shared stories of how the Parkinson Wellness Fund has helped families connect with resources and find hope in the midst of their struggles. We all have issues, and everyone is addicted to something. One half of families have someone struggling with substance abuse or mental health issues, but only about 10% of those hurting people are getting any help. There are practical principles and steps that have been proven to work that integrate principles from recovery, wellness, psychology, neuroscience, and personal development that can not only help people live life better but to also prevent or lessen the impact of behavioral health issues. STEPS is a nonprofit organization that provides easy-to-use resources to help people understand and deal with issues including addiction, recovery, mental health, living effectively, and personal well-being. We also have a strong focus on helping families by reaching parents and other caregivers as well as each individual in the family In Steve Ward's words: I struggled with alcoholism and other members of my family dealt with substance abuse, mental health issues, and other problems as well. But I saw there are proven ways to not only prevent behavioral health issues but to live life better. Those dark times led me to leave the business world after 38 years and found a new nonprofit ministry to help people improve their lives and prevent compulsive issues from robbing them and their family of the peace and joy they deserve. I have spoken to, taught, coached, and shared content with many thousands of people to help them take steps toward a positive future. I'm the author of two books and the Next Right STEPS blog. 3 Top Tips  Learn to become aware of "what you don't know"  have the courage to reach out and look for help then focus on taking the next right steps one at a time. "Moving abroad isn't always easy; you're adjusting to new norms, letting go of familiar conveniences, and learning to live without the constant hustle." "If you don't speak the language, treat it like a business challenge—take a class, hire a tutor, and immerse yourself as much as possible." "Building relationships with local landlords or AirBnB hosts can go a long way in securing affordable, longer-term stays." "Think of yourself as a visitor with a purpose—whether you're in South America, Europe, or Africa, respect the culture and adapt instead of expecting it to change for you." Wherever you go, go with an open mind and an adventurous heart. Taking the leap to live abroad isn't just about escaping routine. Today's episode is a doozy. I've got Terry Tucker on the mic, and if you think you're about to hear just another life story, think again. Terry has indeed been through the ringer...  from years on the police force to facing a rare and relentless form of cancer that just wouldn't quit. But true to form, nor would Terry. He's still here, still living his best life, and he's got one hell of a perspective on what it means to live fully, face fear, and redefine resilience. From the highs, the lows, and those gut-check moments where he had to choose between giving up and pressing forward, Terry opens up about how cancer has actually made him a better human, why he's glad he never let go of his dreams, and how he's found a way to put more good into the world than he ever thought possible. He talks about legacy, about emptying yourself into the world, about leaving things a little better than you found them. This is deep stuff that you and I love, and I promise, it'll get you thinking. Inspired by Daulton Varsho, Jeff Erickson and Fred Zinkie review which players are better in real life than fantasy, and which players are better in fantasy in real life, and try to find some underlying trends. --- 00:00 - Fred Pod 9-2 01:00 - Daulton Varsho comment from Sunday night.  02:15 - Varsho isn't a good real-life hitter, but he's been decent for fantasy this year ($8) and hit .281 with 18 runs and four homers in August. 04:50 - Players who were better in real life than fantasy this year. 05:00 - Bryce Harper. 11th in OPS but just a $22 player. He will hit 30 homers, but without many steals and his batting average is more good than great. 10:00 - Freddie Freeman. 14th in OPS but a $20 player. He may not reach 25 homers or 10 steals. Hitting .285, which is fine but not special. 17:00 - Riley Greene. 20th in OPS. But hitting .259 with 20 homers and 4 steals. Missed a bit of time, but his R/RBI aren't great either. An $11 player. 22:15 - Popular opinion is that J.D. Martinez has been very good for the Mets. It's true. He has a .777 OPS. But he has generated just $4 in fantasy. Just 16 HR, 0 SB, 108 R+RBI. 29:00 - Orioles talk - Jackson Holliday, Coby Mayo 32:00 - Better in fantasy than real life. 32:20 - Maikel Garcia is second last in OPS. Has generated $17 in fantasy. The 33 steals and 83 runs scored are pretty awesome.  35:15 - Jacob Young is a poor man's version of Garcia. Eighth worst OPS but a $9 player thanks to hitting .258 with 31 steals and 69 runs. He's one of baseball's worst hitters but is helping fantasy teams in 3/5 categories. 38:35 - Zack Gelof has the 4th worst OBP of any qualified player. He also has 16 HR and 20 SB. A $4 player so far. 42:30 - Christopher Morel is batting .196 while somehow generating $3 in fantasy value. That's what 21 homers and 8 steals will do for you. 44:25 - Brice Turang has sunk to 13th worst in OPS but has generated $18 in fantasy production thanks to seven homers and 40 steals. Almost as valuable as Freeman. 46:15: - Firing up Julio Rodriguez, who's next? 47:00: - Alexis Diaz 52:25 - Good News for the Padres: Yu Darvish may return Wednesday; Joe Musgrove had a great start against the Tigers; Tatis is back. --- Pick6 Download the new DraftKings Pick Six app and use code RWPICKS.
