There are many ways to fish for coho. Be open to alternative techniques if your go-to method fails! I've only listed a few that have been successful to me. You may have better options. The idea is to use the technique the fish want. In the last column we talked about twitchin' for coho, which is my absolute favorite method to use for several reasons. But just because it's my favorite does not mean it's going to be the most effective when I hit the water. There can be several factors which tells me not to twitch, such as the speed of the current, depth of the hole, bottom structure, or those damn fish just won't bite my jig! In these circumstances I need to expand my arsenal and figure out the best method and lure for that particular day. If not a jig, that means most likely a spinner or spoon, but there are many different types to choose from so we'll go through those in this month's column. Read Full Article

For this installment, titled "Nobody Does It Better," in my Friday Night Feature I talk about James Bond opening sequences from "Dr. No" to "No Time to Die" -- then force a bot to write one! I track Bond film connections throughout my media collection, and in Fond Reflections, I celebrate the life of Stephen Sondheim. In my Classic Collection (VHS-to-DVD transfers), I've cataloged through disc 1,225. Comments on the "Harper's Island" finale, a documentary on diplomat and former Minot resident Herro Mustafa in "American Herro," when bad shows happen to great actors, and the "Torchwood: Children of Earth" miniseries. In my Current Collection (digital recordings), comments on Season 13 of "Doctor Who," the "4400" reboot, streaming "Only Murders in the Building," "Hamilton," "WandaVision," also "American Horror Stories Double Feature," a few musical items including a Queen + Adam Lambert documentary, songs by Missy Elliott, Britney Spears and Ghost, and an Austin City Limits concert with John Batiste. Edward Montez in a local commercial along with other cool commercials for DirecTV and Progressive Insurance and biography entries on legends Lucille Ball and Elizabeth Taylor. Additional spoiler-y comments on the "SurrealEstate" finale and the premiere of ABC's "Queens." In what I've been watching, comments on Dakota Stage Limited's production of Jason Robert Brown's musical "The Last Five Years." Powerful performances. A request to see if anyone can access this podcast through my VideoFuzzy Facebook page -- it should be available for mobile users, but might be tough to find if you're not actually moderating the page. For this installment, titled "Building a Mystery," in my Friday Night Feature I talk about the first nine episodes of ABC 2009 murder mystery "Harper's Island." Then, in response to a review by the "All About Agatha" podcasting team of Kemper Donovan and Catherine Brobeck, I post a VideoFuzzy Book Report on "At Bertram's Hotel" (WATCH video here) and kick off my Classic Collection (VHS-to-DVD) commentary with a deep cut commentary on my recording of "At Bertram's Hotel," archived to discs 199 and 200. Moving into my more recent cataloging, I've gotten through disc 1,175. I talk about network productions like "Un-Broke," "Earth 2100" with Bob Woodruff and Brian Williams' tour of Obama's White House. Also, late night guest appearances by Pearl Jam, Green Day, Bill Cosby and Melody Gardot lead into comments on a couple Current Collection productions on Freddie Mercury and Queen. I found the NBC series premiere of "The Listener," second season finale of AMC's "Breaking Bad," and a beautiful voiceover from an episode of USA's "In Plain Sight" I wanted to share. Delayed somewhat by our first roadtrip out of state since the fall of 2019 -- WORTH IT -- my Friday Night Feature this installment, I talk about Mos Def, Jack Black, Danny Glover and Melonie Diaz in an HBO presentation of 2008's "Be Kind, Rewind." Also, I highlight Cornstock Theatres' streaming stage production of "Talk Radio" on May 29, ahead of their production of "The Complete Works of Shakespeare (Abriged) [Revised]," with comments on a recent PBS "Great Performances" production of Anton Chekov's "Uncle Vanya." Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 73rd episode of "VideoFuzzy," reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 2,900 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Six Seasons and a Movie," commentary on the most of six seasons of "Community" as rebroadcast on IFC that I've archived and cataloged in my current collection. In my Cross Connections, I highlight Patricia Belcher as a Golden Thread, and Christopher Plummer in Fond Reflections. I add a Crossover segment that highlights actor Kevin Corrigan's appearance in both my classic and current collections, and a noteworthy career arc twist. Also, some followup comments on the second season finale of "Damages." In my Classic Collection (VHS-to-DVD), I have cataloged through disc 1,100. I talk about the PBS pledge drive presentation of "Celtic Thunder," a video for Max Tundra's "Will Get Fooled Again," comments on "The Unusuals," "Harper's Island," "Breaking Bad" and "South Park," along with the series finale of ABC's "Life on Mars." I found I recorded a public address from my cable provider in 2009 regarding their negotiations with a local network affiliate to rebroadcast their signal. Also, shoutout to the "All About Agatha" podcast and their recent comments on "The Adventure of the Clapham Cook." In my Current Collection (digital recordings), along with 103 of 110 episodes of "Community," I archived the presentation by the House managers in the second impeachment Senate trial of former President Trump. I felt it was a well organized presentation of the evidence and it was cool to have it in my collection. Also, comments on AMC's presentation of "The Salisbury Poisonings." In streaming, from Hulu, I've been enjoying "Mrs. America," "The Handmaid's Tale," and seasons 4 and 5 of "Damages." And under Off the Shelf, I got together with my friend Jesse Zimmerman of The Average Movie Nerd recently and we enjoyed "The Informant!" "Wag the Dog" and "Burn After Reading." Fun times. In this installment, titled "Insolent Prelate," commentary on the first few episodes of "Castle" -- taken together with current events -- sparks a deeper dive into the 1964 epic film "Becket." Fun! In my Current Collection (digital recordings), I talk about the 1/6 attacks on the U.S. Capitol and contrast that with the Inauguration ceremony a couple of weeks later, highlighting the music, the fashion and youth poet laureate Amanda Gorman, quoting from her work, "The Hill We Climb." In this installment, titled "Lady in Red," I pulled up the pilot episode of "Ashes to Ashes" for my Friday Night Feature, checking Cross Connections with Philip Glenister, Keely Hawes, John Goodman, David Spade, Denis Leary, Josh Gad and Golden Thread Fay Masterson. In my Classic Collection (VHS-to-DVD), I talk about "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart's 2009 knockdown drag-out "Brawl Street" interview with "Mad Money" host Jim Cramer over media contributions to the 2008 recession. Quite informative. Also, President Obama's 2009 address to the joint session of Congress, "The West Wing," the Pip-centered "Great Expectations" episode of "South Park" and the PBS special "100 Years of Victor Borge." In my Current Collection (direct to DVD), I'm very much enjoying my Hulu subscription ["Cougar Town," "Devs," "Letterkenny" and "Archer"] and from a promotional HBO and Cinemax access, I was able to add the first season of "Lovecraft Country." Also, comments on the fourth season finale of "Fargo," the "Doctor Who" New Year's special "The Dalek Revolution" and from DC's "Birds of Prey and The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn," Harley Quinn lists the many, many reasons Roman Sionis might be targeting her for revenge. Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 70th episode of "VideoFuzzy," reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 2,900 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Crossroads," I hope everyone had a great "Stay Inside"-oween and "Wash Your Hands"-giving, and wish everyone a Merry "Six-Feet Aparts"-mas, and eight magical days of "Mask Up." Working together, we will get through this. ❤ In Old Business, a few followup comments on Jeffrey Dean Morgan's appearance on "Grey's Anatomy," and I was able to complete a couple of partial recordings of "Monk" and "Twilight Zone" episodes I've known about in my classic collection. In my Friday Night Feature, I celebrate the appearance of the pilot episode of Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse" in my media collection, and I talk about my love for the show, the introduction to the concept and its vast, unfulfilled potential. In Cross Connections, I trace "Dollhouse" and Eliza Dushku in my "Studio Six Feet Under" challenge, and Bernadette Peters as a Golden Thread in my media collection, several others I've encountered in this cataloging effort, and introduce something I called an "alter thread" with actor John Bedford Lloyd appearing in many, many shows that in a very slightly different universe I'd probably be watching. In my Classic Collection (VHS-to-DVD), I talk about Ally Sheedy's debut as serial killer Mr. Yang in the third season finale of "Psych." Also, comments on "Grey's Anatomy," "Fringe," "The West Wing," "The Simpsons" and "Life." In my Current Collection (direct to DVD), I watched the debates in the run-up to the 2020 presidential election, and talk about the intersection of politics and news media and my perspectives on both. Also, comments on the series finale of "Supernatural," with a quick shoutout to Neoni's cover of Kansas's "Carry On My Wayward Son" -- perfect vibe. Also, "Superstore," "Fargo," the FX miniseries "Wilderness of Error," the "One Day at a Time" Netflix reboot and take a pass on "B Positive." In Videofuzzy at the Movies, comments on Uma Thurman in "Down a Dark Hall" (2018), "Darkman" (1990), "Dear White People" (2014), "Slither" (2006), "Purple Rain" (1984), "Crazy Rich Asians" (2018), "The Snowman" (2017), "Oceans 8" (2018), "Darkest Minds" (2018), "Unfriended: The Dark Web" (2018), and "Searching" (2018). In my special "The First Thousand" segment, I talk about a few highlights from the first thousand discs I've cataloged in my classic collection, fun short-run series, forgotten favorites, movies, pilots, quirky outtakes and history I've archived in discs 0001-1000. And in By the Numbers, every 10 episodes I update my cataloging progress, both from my last update in episode 60 back in January 2020 and for this collection overall. As of this episode, I find I have cataloged nearly half a year's worth of media combined in 1,025 discs in my Classic Collection and 360 discs in my Current Collection, so ... progress. Enjoy! Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 69th episode of "VideoFuzzy," reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 2,900 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Belligerent Optimism," comments on "Grey's Anatomy" segue into overarching themes, and in milestone news, as of this episode I've cataloged Disc 1000 in my Classic Collection! I posted a "throwback Thursday" pic on my VideoFuzzy Facebook page of me and that disc from when I first burned it in April 2009 to when I finally cataloged it last month. Check it out! In Corrections, the release date on the next James Bond, "No Time to Die," has been pushed to next year sometime. Also, I admit to cultural appropriation at times in this production, slipping into voice and characters in my podcast, impressions and other instances. I try to limit the inappropriateness of these instances, but I am aware of them, and if something sounds wrong, please contact me. I'm always trying to do better. In Old Business, I wanted to highlight and celebrate other aspects of comedian Sarah Silverman's work, and wish her a happy 50th in December. In my Friday Night Feature, I find a strong episode of "Grey's Anatomy" on disc 976, centered on a death row inmate who is expressing contrition and a wish that his organs, scheduled for termination at the hand of the state, save a young boy in need of a liver transplant. I pulled up a past episode for some background on the story arcs this fifth-season episode, "Stairway to Heaven," resolves, closing on a stark realization for Izzy Stevens in hallucinating her late boyfriend Denny Duquette. In cross connections, I am struck by how the realities of cancer have touched, darkened, textured and destroyed lives of patients, survivors, friends and families throughout human history. My show title is from an interview by late Supreme Court justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who succumbed to cancer recently. I noted several storylines I'd traced in discs from this set like "Grey's Anatomy," "Nip/Tuck" and "Battlestar Galactica" and other shows in my collection, together with such high-profile losses of Ginsburg, Gwen Ifill, Richard Hatch, Eddie Van Halen and Diana Rigg. In more conventional cross connections, I look at Eric Stolz in "Grey's Anatomy," Dina Meyer in "Nip/Tuck," Gena Rowlands and Marc Vann in "Monk," Andy Richter in "Bones," Danny Strong in "Leverage," Maggie Siff in ABC's "Life on Mars" reboot, Mira Sorvino and Omar Sharif in NBC miniseries "The Last Templar," Tom Irwin in "24" and "LOST," and oh WOW there were just a ton of cross-connections in the office dramedy "Trust Me," including Eric McCormick, Tom Cavanaugh, Tim Russ, Jason O'Mara, Adam Scott, Monica Potter, Griffon Dunn and Rhea Seehorn. I close out by tracing a Golden Thread on Chase Kim, appearing in my recording of "Leverage" on disc 1000. In my classic VHS-to-DVD collection, comments on an episode of "Fringe" open onto a Fond Reflection on the recent passing of Diana Rigg. On a related note, a fan posted this video celebrating the vivacious Mrs. Emma Peel. Also, I've archived a recording from the inauguration of Barack Obama across four discs, with comments on the season 4 finale of "The West Wing," "Battlestar Galactica," "Nip/Tuck" and "South Park," Fox Movie Channel's presentation of "Looking for Richard," and the Turner Classic Movies presentation of "Annie Hall." In my Current direct-to-DVD recordings, comments on "Fargo," "Archer," Syfy's presentation of "Dead Still," IFC's presentation of "Eyes Wide Shut" and the Sundance presentation of "The Green Mile." Plus I trace the rather eye-popping body of work by actor Steven Tobolowsky. Finally, I have updated my Facebook and podcast page to include a "top ten" episode guide for people looking for a quick read-in on this blog and podcast effort. Enjoy!

In this installment, titled "Pretty Good Year," I took some time to do some home improvements, cleanup and reorganization around here and the impact this had on my cataloging efforts, along with a few observations on our social and political landscape. For my Friday Night Feature, I explore a very special fifth-season episode of "Desperate Housewives," celebrating their 100th episode, built around the impact of a good man on his neighbors and his neighborhood. It featured Beau Bridges as handyman Eli Scruggs. In Cross Connections, I trace him as a Golden Thread in my collection. Also, fond reflections on Regis Philbin and Chadwick Boseman. In What I've Been Watching, I took in the North Dakota Shakespeare Festival's Shakespeare in the Parking Lot production of "Hamlet" -- a drive-in production in a parking lot with four people. In my Classic VHS-to-DVD Collection, I talk about slow-walking my cataloging of "The West Wing," as well as episodes from the seventh season of "24," "Monk," President George W. Bush's farewell speech, and "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" send-off for him, and President Barack Obama's inauguration. In my Current, direct-to-DVD Collection, comments on "The Alienist: Angel of Darkness," homeburns of the third season of "Legion" and "The Book of Eli," "Assassin's Creed," "The Shape of Water," "Inglourious Basterds," "The Family Fang," "Juno," "Game Night," "Wakefield," "The Commuter," "The Accountant," "Downsizing," "The Town," "The Circle," "Kagemusha," "The Fury," "The Phantom of the Paradise," "Across the Universe," "Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping" with Adam Samberg and Sarah Silverman, "What We Do in the Shadows," "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," "Solo: A Star Wars Story," "Ant-Man and The Wasp," "X2: X-Men United," "Keep Watching," "Toast of London" and "The November Man," which needed a lot more razzing than I was ultimately able to give it here. Finally, in my Off The Shelf segment, I pulled up my VHS copy of "Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie" and commercial disc sets of "Arrested Development: Season Four," "Fargo: Season Two," "The Crazy Ones," and this fantastic DVD I found called "Dave Made a Maze" -- track it down, you won't be sorry.

In my Classic VHS-to-DVD Collection, I talk about "The Simpsons," "Skins," "South Park," "Psych," "Damages" and highlight what struck me as misdelivered lines in "Take This Sabbath Day," a significant first season episode of "The West Wing." Also, revisiting some Old Business regarding Olive Snook singing "Eternal Flame" in a second season episode of "Pushing Daisies," and in Nerd Shows, I talk about the third season episode of "The Universe" titled "Sex in Space." In my Direct-to-DVD Collection, I chat "Motherland: Fort Salem," "Council of Dads" and "Harley Quinn," closing with "Dispatches from Elsewhere."

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 64th episode of "VideoFuzzy," reporting the progress I've made in cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Unfluential," I allow as how my recent birthday nudged me out of the prized 18-49 marketing demographic. I congratulate "Project Runway" season 18 winner Geoffrey Mac. In my Friday Night Feature, I feature the series finale of "The Shield." I explore the storytelling throughout that series and the media environment of the late Naughties. In Cross Connections, I retrace some connections for "The Shield," as well as connections through "Will & Grace" and "Motherland: Fort Salem." Also, my discussion of "6 Souls" highlights it as an especially intersectional inclusion in my collection. In my VideoFuzzy at the Movies collection, I comment on cable presentations of "Black Panther," "Thor: Ragnarok," Kenneth Branagh's "Murder on the Orient Express," "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri," "6 Souls," "mother!" and, from my own collection, "The Room." Yup, at about the 30:00 mark, this episode features the VideoFuzzy review of "The Room." You are welcome. In my VHS-to-DVD "Classic Collection," I contrast "The Shield" with an especially disappointing second season episode of "Life." Also, comments on "Chuck," "Boston Legal," "Ugly Betty" and actor Michael Urie, "South Park," "The Simpsons," and "Criminal Minds." In my direct-to-DVD "Current Collection," I discuss the series finale of "The Magicians," along with comments on "Briarpatch," "Vagrant Queen," "Will & Grace" and their "I Love Lucy" episode, "Superstore" and CheyFest 2020 -- get destroyed! -- "Dispatches From Elsewhere," "Brockmire," "Cake," Syfy's "TZGZ," selected IFC rebroadcasts of "Mystery Science Theater 3000," and comments on "Better Call Saul," highlighting standout performances by Rhea Seehorn as Kim Wexler. Also, congratulations to Christine Morse on her and her lovely family's appearance in a regional commercial -- well done! Finally, under Old Business, I talk about DVR issues I had while recording the series finale of "The Magicians," and I reorganize my approach to this production. Starting next episode, new episodes will drop as I catalog 25 discs. Enjoy!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 63rd episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Unconventional Means," I discuss the 12th season finale of "Doctor Who" and its expansion of the Doctor's story as well as current and past adventures. Oh, and Jodie Whittaker turned up in character on BBC's Doctor Who Official Twitter @bbcdoctorwho recently with a message for children and fans to help them through the global pandemic, which I thought was super classy, retweeted @tjVideoFuzzy. My Cross Connections explores an FX documentary, "The Most Dangerous Animal of All," on an author whose research into his birth father convinced him he was the son of the Zodiac Killer. In my VHS-to-DVD "Classic Collection," I talked about Lincoln Meyer abducting Shirley Schmidt in a third season episode of "Boston Legal." Also, decent candidate for a feature, Walter Matthau and Inger Stevens in the kinda gross "A Guide for the Married Man" from 1967, with comments on episodes of "The Simpsons" and "Fringe." In my direct-to-DVD "Current Collection," I had to stream a couple of episodes of "The Magicians" ahead of the series finale this past week -- the basis for the title this time; I had to pull up ancient digital recordings I had of "Doctor Who," and stream episodes of "The Magicians," otherwise less-traveled media sources for this collection. Also, lightning round discussion on "Brockmire," "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine," "The Sinner," "Briarpatch," "Dispatches From Elsewhere," "Better Call Saul," and "Motherland: Fort Salem."

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 62nd episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Everybody's Talking About How Bad This Is," I highlight "Masks in the Moonlight," a benefit I attended for the Bismarck Cancer Center, and recommend the cause to anyone able to help. I also discuss musical clips I've put together for past episodes, referencing television theme songs and so forth. With the potential for copyright infringement (none is or has ever been intended in this production), I'll be stepping away from including them in the future. My "Friday Night Feature" highlights a pivotal episode of "Mad Men." In the run-up to the second season finale, Don deals with separation from his family as the ad firm undergoes major developments in his absence. In "What I've Been Watching," Ralph and I attend a community theater production of "Greater Tuna," and the title reference, from the NBC series premiere of the Fran Drescher project "Indebted," that is, "Everybody's Talking About the Pilot." This was not a good show, but via "Golden Thread" extension from my "Cross Connections" discussion, I attempt to reconcile Steven Weber's role in that project and elsewhere in my collection, up to and including his significant role in Aaron Sorkin's "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip," which I've identified as one of the mystical centers of my media collection. In my VHS-to-DVD "Classic Collection," I celebrate the debut of Kristin Chenoweth as Annabeth Schott in the sixth season of Aaron Sorkin's "The West Wing," the fourth episode, titled "Liftoff," with possible comic references to "Noises Off!" In my direct-to-DVD "Current Collection," I discuss "Supernatural," the run-up to the 12th season finale of "Doctor Who," the third season of "Sherlock," the run-up to the 18th season finale of "Project Runway," the "Bad Tina" episode of "Bob's Burgers" and connections with "Parks and Recreation," premieres of USA shows "The Sinner" and "Briarpatch" and Aaron Paul rocked in the Netflix production "El Camino" (2019). And in VideoFuzzy at the Movies, "Birds of Prey, and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn" was awesome!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 61st episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Watching Terrible Movies," I open with reflections on the recent passing of Terry Jones, and celebrate some of his iconic work with Monty Python's Flying Circus. In my "Friday Night Feature," I talk about "Fata Morgana," a first-season episode of "Sanctuary" on Syfy, and chat about some of the strengths and weaknesses of the show at this stage of its production. I trace Cross Connections to the show, as well as Terry Jones' work, and appearances by Nicholas Brendan and Marc Vann in "Criminal Minds." In my Classic Collection, I talk about Monty Python sketches I was cataloging as I learned of Jones' passing. Also, David Alan Grier's Comedy Central production "Chocolate News," and some Daily Show and Colbert Report's interstitial tomfoolery called "Who's the Toss?" In my Current Collection, I talk about the animated reproduction of an original series fourth season serial of "Doctor Who" from the Patrick Troughton era, "The Macra Terror," then trace some of those themes through some more recent episodes, along with comments on "Fugitive of the Judoon." I then chat about "Supernatural," "Superstore" and "The Magicians," and explore a few thoughts about the series finale of "The Good Place" -- just ... wow. In "VideoFuzzy at the Movies," I chat with Jesse Zimmerman of "The Average Movie Nerd" blog in the title reference for this episode, to wit: Watching Terrible Movies. We got together and watched "The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra" (2001) "Hail Caesar" (1994), "Rockula" (1990) and "Repo! The Genetic Opera" (2008) and then ... discussed them. Finally, in Upcoming Shows, a look ahead at the return of "Miracle Workers: The Dark Ages" on TBS, "Better Call Saul" on AMC and "The Sinner" on USA, premieres of "Briarpatch" on USA and "Indebted" on NBC, plus "Birds of Prey" opens in theaters, looks like a fun romp. Enjoy!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 60th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Happy New ... What Year Is This Again?" I open with comments on recent celebrity deaths including Marie Fredriksson, Philip McKeon, Caroll Spinney, and under Cross Connections, a retrospective of René Auberjonois, highlighting his appearances on "Benson" and "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine." I feature the appearance of the series premiere of ABC's "Life on Mars" in my collection, and include an expansive reflection of the connections I draw from that show through my formative media consumption, through "Barney Miller," "The Unusuals" and "Detroit 1-8-7" and potentially "Brooklyn Nine-Nine." In my Classic Collection, I talk about the series premiere of "Sanctuary," a Waco-themed episode of "Criminal Minds," a promo that turned up for the Mouse River Players' production of Neil Simon's "Plaza Suite" I did with Kymn Quill in Minot, and series I encountered while plowing through my archives to get into my new binder, including "The West Wing," "Six Feet Under," "Fringe," "Eli Stone" and "My Own Worst Enemy," as well as highlights running up to the 2008 election. In my Current Collection, I talk about the 12th season premiere of "Doctor Who," a whole bunch of music videos from the '80s and several movies including "The Revenant," "Fathom," the "Flatliners" remake, "Next," "Mr. Peabody and Sherman," "Stand By Me," "Gremlins." Then in What I've Been Watching, I share some thoughts on "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" from across four decades of storytelling. Finally, in "By the Numbers," I talk about a couple milestones, first on hitting episode 60 in this podcasting effort, and then the somewhat more significant milestone of breaking into Binder No. 5. At about 1,700 hours on 835 discs in my Classic Collection and some 1,800 hours on 295 discs in my Current Collection, I've cataloged nearly 3,500 hours on more than 1,100 discs in my media collection, which feels like a good amount of progress. Binder No. 3 took about a year, and this past one took about 10 months, so even my pace is improving. All that said, I'm now in Binder No. 5 of thirteen, so ... definitely a ways to go yet. Cheers!

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 59th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. This installment, titled "VideoFuzzy at the Movies: 'Knives Out,'" shifts from my usual cataloging efforts and commentary for a spoiler-free review of "Knives Out," which I have elsewhere described as one of the best movies I have seen in years, possibly ever. "Knives Out" features Christopher Plummer as Harlan Thrombey, 85, prolific author of murder mysteries, his lifeless body discovered early one morning by his maid. The case is initially ruled a suicide, but Daniel Craig as world famous private investigator Benoit Blanc isn't so sure, and a seething pack of would-be heirs -- family, staff and companions -- do little to allay his suspicions! With endless plot twists, questions of who-knew-what-when and constantly shifting alliances -- all set in a museum-piece mansion riddled with secret passages and twistier than a Rubik's cube -- "Knives Out" comes highly recommended. Go see it. It's completely worth it and one hell of a good time.

Hi! My name is Terry J. Aman and this installment marks my 58th episode of "VideoFuzzy," my twice-monthly progress report on cataloging more than 2,800 VHS transfers and digital recordings. In this installment, titled "Trips to the Past," I wax nostalgic as music playing at the City Brew takes me back. For my Friday Night Feature, I take a long, hard look at a second-season episode of "Primeval." In Cross Connections, I track "Studio Six Feet Under" connections for "Primeval," including its ties with "The Crown." I track connections from Jessalyn Gilsig from "Nip/Tuck" to "Glee" and "Heroes." Also, Donal Logue from the second season premiere of "Life" takes me to the IMDb credit of friend of the podcast Heather Welliver. In my Classic VHS-to-DVD Collection, I talk about the fifth season premiere of "The Office," Homer gets a PC in a 12th season episode of "The Simpsons," a fifth season episode of "Boston Legal," second season episode of "Mad Men" and the second season premiere of "Chuck." In my direct-to-DVD Current Collection, comments on community access cable presentations including the visit by Swedish teen activist Greta Thunberg to Standing Rock Reservation south of Bismarck, a short history of the rail bridge crossing the Missouri River between Bismarck and Mandan, and Sean Gaskell playing the West African kota. Also, a profile called "Shadowcatcher" on Bismarck photographer Shane Balkowitsch by University of Mary student filmmaker Phillip Litton. Also, comments on "Superstore" and "The Good Place." In VideoFuzzy at the Movies, comments on the FX presentation of "The Kingsman: The Golden Circle" and the TNT presentation of "The Imitation Game" starring Benedict Cumberbatch as cryptanalyst Alan Turing. And in What I've Been Watching, a spoiler-y commentary on McKellan and Mirren in recent release "The Good Liar." Enjoy!
