It's Lesbian Visibillity week, where we take a look at some of the most wonderful women who have shaped Feast of Fun over the course of 20 years. Just like no two people are alike, the relationships we develop in our lives will also be incredibly unique. Before open relationships became more acceptable in LGBTQ+ circles, sex-positive writer Tristan Taormino was helping pave the way for people to expand their minds to new kinds of relationships. We spoke to Tristan in 2008 about her new book “Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships” where she said a big factor in fufilling relationships was for people to defnine monogamy on their own terms, and that the best relationships complement each other instead of trying to meet each other halfway in everything.
Please enjoy this encore presentation of “Ménage à How Many?” with Tristan Taormino as part of our celebration of Lesbian Visibility Week and the design I made that became the modern lesbian pride flag. FEATURED BOOK:

“Although challenging, it is not impossible to be a feminist in the artificial environment of mainstream pornography. Nor is it impossible to disrupt the inauthenticity of this staged environment through acting upon one's feminist ethos. – Madison Young, 2014[47] Feminist pornography is less likely to be filmed due to a lack of audience demand since a majority of pornography viewers are male.[48] The scope of the adult entertainment industry depends on the preferences of the majority of their viewers, which creates the need for female actresses to be young and overtly sexualized.[49] The increase in this mainstream mass-produced media puts both actresses and producers of feminist pornography at a disadvantage.[50] Some misconceptions of feminist porn that add to their disadvantage are that it is only for queer women, 'vanilla', and 'man-hating'.[35] When working on feminist porn projects, Ingrid Ryberg, feminist porn producer, wanted to make sure to address these stereotypes, while also staying in the realm of feminist pornography.[51] Some producers, like Tristan Taormino, address this by staying away from stereotypical, mainstream tropes, like 'cum shots', while still respecting the expression of rougher sex.[51] The rise of on-screen appropriations, such as items like a strap-on dildo used by and for the pleasure of females during sexual intercourse, has allowed for more agency for women within the industry.[52] Annie Sprinkle is one example of a woman who chooses to partake in many forms of feminist pornography in order to counter-appropriate patriarchal mainstream pornography.[53] Films in which Sprinkle stars contain scenes of her having orgasms instead of her male on-screen partners.[53] According to Tristan Taormino, "Feminist porn both responds to dominant images with alternative ones and creates its own iconography."[54] What sets feminist porn from mainstream porn is its intentions.[55] Mainstream pornography is made for mass consumption, profit and arousal; feminist pornography is also made for arousal and profit, but also to create content that purposely shows agency, genuine pleasure, and challenges mainstream standards, like beauty and gender roles.[55] One way to conceptualize these differences is through defining sexual objectification and sexual agency.[55] Feminist pornography focuses on promoting sexual agency.[55] Some pornographic actresses such as Nina Hartley,[56] Ovidie,[57] and Madison Young are also self-described sex-positive feminists, and state that they do not see themselves as victims of sexism. They defend their decision to perform in pornography as freely chosen, and argue that much of what they do on camera is an expression of their sexuality. It has also been pointed out that in pornography, women generally earn more than their male counterparts.[58] Hartley is active in the sex workers' rights movement.[56]” -Wikipedia. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/antonio-myers4/support

It's not every day you hear about someone getting her start in the world of sexual education by opening up a sex shop with her mom — but if there's one word to describe our guests today, it's definitely “unconventional.”    Amy Baldwin is a Certified Sexuality Educator with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Human Sexuality from San Francisco State University. In 2008, she opened Pure Pleasure Shop with her mother in Santa Cruz, CA.    Their first employee was April Lampert… and the rest, as they say, is history.    April showed up with a little less experience but a whole lot of fun and curiosity, and today she is the Vice President of Hot Octopuss, an innovative pleasure product company, and has dedicated her working life to educating people on a global scale about sexual pleasure, health and wellness, and pleasure products.   Together, Amy and April started the Shameless Sex podcast. Their goal is to engage in unabashed real talk about sexuality with a playful twist, so that people everywhere can be inspired to experience radical self-love, sexual empowerment, and shame-free intimacy.   Today we're diving in with Amy and April to talk about how to start using sex toys, what to do if you're curious (and maybe a little squeamish) about trying anal, and how to keep sex hot and alive in long term relationships.    You're going to love this no-holds-barred conversation with two hilarious women who know how to put pleasure first.    What you'll learn in this episode: Where to start if you've never used sex toys before How to safely explore anal to increase pleasure How Amy and April got into business together Whether porn can be a positive resource in your own sex life Amy and April's tips for keeping the sizzle in long-term relationships   Explore our website: https://www.desireonfire.com/ Come and join our FB community: https://www.facebook.com/groups/DesireOnFire/ And connect with us on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/desireonfire/   Connect with Aimee: Check out my instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/aimeebatuski/   Connect with Ellie: Check out my instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/elliemontgomerie   Connect with Amy + April:   April on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aprillampert Amy on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/amyshamelesssex Pure Pleasure website: https://www.purepleasureshop.com/ Listen to the Shameless Sex podcast   Products + Resources mentioned in this episode: Uberlube Hot Octopuss sex toys Esther Perel Dipsea erotica Bree Mills at Adult Time for educational porn Tristan Taormino and Sex Out Loud Radio

“Those who identify as feminist pornographers are primarily independent, sole operators and performers, creating their own vision of good porn. Very few work with the larger US companies, although there have been a few such as Tristan Taormino who have made films for the big labels, hoping to encourage change within those organizations. But primarily we are still a small group working for ourselves. We don't tend to phone Steven Hirsch at Vivid and say “Hey, you know you should start calling your films feminist, you'll make millions!” The pornography we make is hugely varied and covers the entire spectrum of human sexuality. It seeks to represent all bodies, all genders, all fantasies — and that can include kinky sex that is often misrepresented as being “violent” and “harmful” in research. The common element you'll see in feminist porn is a focus on respect, consent and pleasure. One of the key things that unite feminist pornographers is that we don't just make porn; we are also a community and we talk about things. We have conferences and we critically think about all aspects of pornography. We participate in academic studies, we write for Porn Studies, we blog, we read, we get together and talk about what's wrong with porn and what we can do to change that. We are being the change we want to see in the world. We also talk about ethical production methods and sex work. Part of the feminist porn movement is a discussion about labour and how producers and performers can work together for mutual benefit. Of course, ethical production is by no means exclusive to those who identify as feminist within the porn world. What is different is that we are bringing this issue into the conversation and making our ethics and methods explicit to the audience, seeking to dispel any concerns that they may have about how that porn was made. McNally talks of “trade” but she doesn't speak of the exploratory nature of feminist porn. Some of us may be straight-up capitalists and others are doing it for political reasons, for personal reasons, for charity, for love. Some of us are making a profit, some are struggling to pay the rent. Some of us are finding new ways to interact with the public and to create a user-generated experience that centres the viewer and their desires and politics. Some of us are crowdfunding, some are trying to create a sustainable non-profit payment model for porn, others are developing payment models that profit-share with performers. And here's the thing that Laura McNally dismissed in her article: we may be small but we are making a difference. Feminist porn is becoming a “brand” of sorts. The media is increasingly reporting on it. Consumers are becoming more aware of the possibility of a more positive kind of porn. More importantly, the US mainstream porn industry IS taking notice. Industry awards night XBiz has introduced a “Feminist Porn Release” category and have been hosting panels on feminist and women-made porn for several years at their annual conference and trade show. Similarly, AVN has come on board with a feminist porn discussion at their conference. There is an increasing awareness in the industry of consumer demand for ethical porn. Better still, a new performer advocacy group has formed — APAC USA. Not quite a union, it is still a vital step toward a more transparent and ethical porn industry. APAC aims to “provide representation for performers in the adult film industry and to protect performers' rights to a safer and more professional work environment.” Sure, some of these changes may well just be “femwashing”. And yes, a lot of porn remains sexist and sex-negative, especially what you see on free tube sites. But change is happening and it is worth celebrating.” Links: https://medium.com/@msnaughty/how-to-be-an-anti-porn-campaigner-a9b492a5756e and https://medium.com/@msnaughty/how-the-porn-industry-can-lift-its-game-on-consent-9aad11aa0efd. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

"Feminists have debated pornography ever since the women's movement commenced. The debate was particularly vehement during the feminist sex wars of the 1980s, which is when feminist porn originated. It acquired momentum in the 2000s because of the Feminist Porn Awards, originated by Good For Her in Toronto in 2006. These awards spread awareness amongst a broader audience, extra media exposure, and assistance in uniting a community of filmmakers, performers, and fans. Many third-wave feminists are open to seeking freedom and rights of sexual equality through entering the adult entertainment workforce. However, many second-wave feminists believe that the oppression and/or sexual objectification of women is inherent in all pornography involving them. The conflict between the two waves causes many struggles between these different feminist views of pornography. Tristan Taormino, who is a sex educator, feminist pornographer, and co-editor of The Feminist Porn Book, defines feminist pornography as dedicated to gender equality and social justice. Feminist pornography is porn that is produced in a fair manner, where performers are paid a reasonable salary and treated with care and esteem, their consent, safety, and well-being are vital, and what they bring to the production is appreciated. Feminist porn seeks to challenge ideas about desire, beauty, gratification, and power through unconventional representations, aesthetics, and film making styles. The overall aim of feminist porn is to empower the performers who produce it and the people who view it." I also look forward to doing sex scenes in television shows and movies and being an intimacy coordinator as well as a intimacy choreographer in television and movies. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/antonio-myers4/support

"Opening up" de Tristan Taormino.

On this episode we dig into non-monogamy with Tristan Taormino. She discusses how the processing of both parties feelings is a crucial element to open relationships. Interestingly, she shares how working on yourself is a big part of the open-minded approach required to make this type of thing work. The Importance of Boundaries in Consensual Non-monogamy Tristan recommends a slow start and provides clear guidelines and examples on how to do this. Knowing what you want and need makes setting boundaries easier. These boundaries include whether or not you and your partner wish to keep your non-monogamy close to home or not. This ultimately bleeds into how much time you will be investing in non-monogamy and the depth of the relationships you will be seeking. Tristan shares the types of boundaries that could come up. Decisions to make regarding non-monogamy Tristan's advice for couples with different feelings about non-monogamy is to go at the pace of the slower partner. Ultimatums are not encouraged especially if your partner agrees to give it a try. Tristan adds valuable advice about making decisions during the heat of a moment, advocating a more thought-through approach when put in these situations. People trying non-monogamy also struggle with certain behaviours including jealousy. We learn more about this and how to constructively handle this. The Common Pitfalls of Consensual Non-monogamy Time management is considered one of the pitfalls of non-monogamy. With many tools available at our disposal, Tristan unpacks the subtle and obvious scenarios that eventually lead to your time being consumed and the negative impact it can have if not managed. We hear about emotional privacy and how it involves considering the preferences of all the parties included in your non-monogamous arrangement. Tristan's suggests the ‘don't ask, don't tell ‘ method if all parties can agree to it. Vito power comes into play here and we hear about how it can be used fairly. Considering the Past Trauma and negative childhood experiences eventually manifest in our relationships. Tristan urges us to investigate these issues so that we are informed when entering a relationship and acutely aware of our partner's triggers and understand why they exist. Background Tristan Taormino is an award-winning writer, sex educator, speaker, filmmaker, and radio host. She is the editor of 25 anthologies and author of eight books, including Opening Up: A Guide to Creating and Sustaining Open Relationships. She lectures at top colleges and universities and teaches sex and relationship workshops around the world for nearly 20 years. Better Sex

My guest is Jim Fleckenstein. He is a coach and educator on sexuality. He is also a researcher who focuses predominantly on non-exclusive relationships and how they affect the individuals involved. He is an expert in consensual non-monogamy and a wellspring of knowledge and insight, which he graciously shares in this episode. Jim shares stats and information on consensual non-monogamy, how those who practice it are reporting an overwhelming amount of satisfaction and happiness, how emotional needs have a lot to do with those who are drawn towards it, and how these relationship structures are actually much more common than you may have realized. This is just the tip of the iceberg of this discussion though. Listen along and learn a lot about this interesting topic! The Three Main Divisions of Consensual Non-Monogamy To start the interview, Jim breaks down consensual non-monogamy into polyamory, swinging, and open relationships. Polyamory is separate from the others because there is a chance for a deep emotional connection to be reinforced. While the others are more reserved for sexual acts, polyamory is can delve into the emotional as well as the sexual components of a relationship. Jim says that swinging is probably the oldest of the trio. And for those who don't know, it's a couple-centric act where couples work hard to establish an emotional wall to prevent emotional developments. They also don't have sex independently of one another. And in open relationships, partners are free to seek sexual liaisons outside of the primary relationship. Emotional connection is not established, and unlike swingers, they don't participate in sexual acts together but do their own thing instead. Jim says much more within the episode. Listen along! The Reasons Why Certain People Prefer Consensual Non-Monogamy For the reasons why people go the non-monogamous route, Jim says it has a lot to do with the emotional needs of the person. He says the question of “what is it that I am trying to attain here?” is a great question to ask to evaluate your emotional needs. Your needs will determine which version of consensual non-monogamy that you gravitate towards and want to eventually practice–if you do end up deciding that your emotional needs warrant the lifestyle, of course. Jim also talks about the boundaries that are established and how respecting those boundaries is important for the healthy functioning of any consensual non-monogamous relationship. Tune in! How Many People are Practicing? Jim says that it's difficult to have an accurate number or statistic for those who practice non-monogamous relationships. This is due to the fact that individuals can lose their jobs and their kids because of it, and in addition, it is still highly stigmatized in our country. This leads to a lot of people practicing in clandestine ways. So, because of these factors, it's hard to trust the surveys and numbers out there. But according to the stats, Jim says that somewhere between 2-7% of all relationships are practiced through one of the three divisions of consensual non-monogamy. The Importance of Education Jim shares a lot of important information on how people learn about polyamory or swinging by attending educational events where people discuss consensual non-monogamy in a non-sexual environment. Often the trepidations that occur can be alleviated through more understanding. And as is brought up during the episode, some of the concerns of being pressured by a partner into swinging or an open relationship can be addressed once more information is processed. He also makes it clear this needs to be a mutual decision. Who knows, maybe all it takes is a couple of events and you will comfortable enough with shifting your relationship dynamic! Maybe it will confirm your anxiety. Becoming educated is key! It destigmatizes and demystifies. Go-To Resources for Jim He says that his favorite go-to book is Opening Up by Tristan Taormino, for those who are curious about learning about or trying this relationship dynamic. It is a very comprehensive resource. The Ethical Slut is a good book as well, in addition to Designer Relationships. And for those who may have experienced infidelity, Tammy Nelson has a good book called The New Monogamy for handling the subject. The Passion And Soul Podcast by Lee Harrington

Last March Lee was struck by the randomness on the internet, and used the experience as an opportunity to springboard between a varieties of topics. A year later BDSM Roulette is back with such subjects as “outing” of other people, anal play, leather contests and the difference between being “serious” and “solemn” in our sexuality. However, the absurdity of the internet also explodes in the form of “Sexy Platypus,” and of course, lemon whores. Join us as we explore human erotica through a roll of the dice and dive into subjects ranging from thoughtful to full of laughter (and sometimes both).   Links Discussed: Running into people in the outside world - https://fetlife.com/groups/16783/group_posts/5063116 Sexy Platypus - http://soupynuts.blogspot.com/2008/09/sexy-platypus.html Oregon Puppy Contest 2014 - http://www.leatherati.com/2014/02/oregon-puppy-contest-2014/ Blackface at the PDX Eagle - http://www.mollena.com/2013/02/racism-in-leather/ Ultimate Guide to Anal Sex for Women by Tristan Taormino - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1573442216?ie=UTF8&ref_=sr_1_1&s=books&qid=1300639138&sr=1-1&linkCode=shr&camp=213733&creative=393181&tag=opeup-20 Ultimate Guide to Prostate Pleasure by Charlie Glickman - http://www.goodvibes.com/display_product.jhtml?id=6-3-AA-1202&lref=Cat_catalog70002_cat33893__3 Anal Play History Timeline - http://goodvibesblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Good-Vibrations-Anal-History-Timeline.jpg Enjoyable anal play - https://www.babeland.com/sexinfo/howto/bend_over_boyfriend Lemon Whore Video - http://thechive.com/2012/06/18/hands-down-the-most-hilarious-porn-intro-ever-video/ Pterodactyl Porn - http://therealtruth.info/article/63/pterodactyl-porn Find a Munch - http://findamunch.com/   Lee's Upcoming Events/Appearances: http://passionandsoul.com/appearances/     Lee Harrington contact information: http://www.PassionAndSoul.com http://www.FetLife.com/passionandsoul http://twitter.com/#!/PassionAndSoul https://www.facebook.com/passionandsoul   Orignally released as EA310
