Actor Frank Grillo and I sat down for an interview in The Locher Room to discuss his latest project Paradise Highway currently in theaters now. He is best known for playing Crossbones in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. His incredible body of work spans decades and highlights include WARRIOR, DISCONNECT, END OF WATCH, THE GREY, INTERSECTION, EDGE OF DARKNESS, ZERO DARK. His television work includes the lead role in Kingdom, and recurring roles in Battery Park, For the People, The Shield, Prison Break, Blind Justice, The Kill Point and Billions. Daytime television audiences will remember Frank for his portrayal of Hart Jessup on Guiding Light. His new film Paradise Highway stars Academy Award® winners Juliette Binoche and Morgan Freeman leading this riveting thriller set in the trucking industry and its seamy underbelly of human trafficking. To save the life of her brother (Frank Grillo), Sally (Binoche), a truck driver, reluctantly agrees to smuggle illicit cargo: a girl named Leila (Hala Finley). As Sally and Leila begin a danger-fraught journey across state lines, a dogged FBI operative (Freeman) sets out on their trail, determined to do whatever it takes to terminate a human-trafficking operation — and bring Sally and Leila to safety. The film is about the power of human connection – about the damage that can be done when children are disconnected from the rest of society, and about the goodness that can prevail when it is rekindled.Original Airdate: 7/29/2022

We talk about his musical career in the American penitentiary system and have a nuanced discussion on the failures and shortcomings of incarceration in America. Beyond that we talk about what Tim's life looks like now in recovery and how he wants his future to look. Part of his future involves becoming an amateur ghost hunter which we are all about- also Prison Break was a good show. Episode 73: Astrophysical Prison Break   We're planning a prison break! But first, we're consulting the experts on this topic. Sabrina takes us to a distant galaxy cluster to figure out how so much light is escaping. Once we know how it's breaking free, Will brings us back a little closer to home where he consults with the Trojans (and we don't mean the ones from Homer's Odyssey) about how a fraction of their fellow soldiers made a successful getaway. As Kiersten comes along for the ride, she makes the terrible mistake of mentioning the dreaded space sound by name. Will we successfully escape? Or will we be caught and forced to listen to space sounds forever?   Astrobites: https://astrobites.org/2023/03/11/ https://astrobites.org/2020/05/13/   Space sound: https://youtu.be/BAWkuv1HXy4

Remember Cannon Films?  They were an independent production company started in the '70s run by two Israeli cousins (Yoram Globus, Menahem Globus) who wanted to bring their cinematic ambitions to the United States....and they released a LOT of movies, most of which were considered schlock in retrospect.  But every once in a while, they would release a GENUINE quality film and this was one of them. :) Directed by Andrei Konchalovsky, this is a tense action adventure focusing on two escaped convicts of an Alaskan prison who jump on to a nearby train before eventually realizing that its conductor has died and its breaks are not working.  Hence it's a.....RUNAWAY TRAIN. ;) Jon Voight and Eric Roberts star as the two convicts along with Rebecca De Mornay as a rail worker who they encounter on their adventure. Host: Geoff Gershon Editors: Geoff and Ella GershonProducer: Marlene Gershonhttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/
