Government subcontracting is where most small businesses leave millions on the table, and in this episode Eric Coffie breaks down the 8 brutal truths he learned the hard way about working under prime contractors. From going broke in 2015 with a $550 payday loan to closing a $4.2 million subcontract four months later, this is the unfiltered playbook on how subcontracting actually works in the federal market. Here is what you will learn: Why confusing prime contractor rules with subcontractor rules quietly kills deals and how to know which FAR requirements actually apply to you The relationship moves that landed a $4 million subcontract with no money in the bank, no bonding, and no employees on payroll How to frame your value to primes as compliance protection instead of paperwork so you stop getting lowballed at 10K on 600K contracts Why the middleman role is the highest paid position on a federal team when you take real responsibility for scope, schedule, and subs below you Where to actually find program managers and decision makers on military bases, at site visits, prime contractor galas, and even Starbucks near the gate EPISODE CHAPTERS: 0:00 - Subcontracting truths most small businesses miss 2:00 - Payday loan to 4 million dollar subcontract story 3:19 - Confusing prime rules with subcontract rules 4:38 - Small hinges swing big subcontract doors 6:32 - Paperwork has zero value without compliance 7:57 - Middleman myth and keeping the team together 9:14 - Where you are does not equal who you are 10:11 - Geography can change your title on jobs 11:13 - Leave the house and show up consistently 13:38 - Tough conversations build unbreakable business bonds 15:30 - Picking one lane to start subcontracting in 20:47 - Target program managers not contracting officers 35:44 - Marketing to primes through galas and golf events Market Intelligence gives you the federal opportunities, agency signals, recompete intel, and pursuit briefs that tell you not just what contracts exist, but which ones to chase and how to win them. Alex Acosta is frequently singled out as the architect of Jeffrey Epstein's 2008 non-prosecution agreement (NPA), but mounting evidence suggests that he was more of a functionary than a decision-maker. As the U.S. Attorney in South Florida, Acosta did sign off on the sweetheart deal that allowed Epstein to avoid federal prosecution and serve minimal time in a county jail. However, emails and DOJ records show that once Epstein's legal team escalated their complaints, the matter was kicked up the chain of command to Washington. Acosta even reportedly told the Miami Herald that he was told Epstein “belonged to intelligence” and that backing off was not a choice, further muddying the narrative that he acted independently. The DOJ's Office of Professional Responsibility later criticized Acosta's judgment but stopped short of alleging misconduct. The real power players behind the Epstein NPA appear to have been then–Attorney General Michael Mukasey and Deputy Attorney General Mark Filip. When Epstein's lawyers petitioned to have the case reviewed, DOJ officials in D.C.—including those in the Criminal Division and the Deputy Attorney General's office—were briefed and ultimately approved the non-prosecution path. In other words, the final green light came from the top of the Justice Department, not Acosta's office alone. This recontextualizes the NPA as less a rogue local failure and more a coordinated decision at the highest levels of federal power. The narrative that Acosta alone bears the weight of the Epstein scandal not only oversimplifies the truth—it protects the very people who had the authority to stop it and didn't.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:https://nypost.com/2021/02/04/top-doj-officials-okd-epstein-deal-maxwell-lawyers/

In Mike Papantonio's A Death in Arcadia (Arcade Publishing, 2026) Nicholas “Deke”Deketomis Returns to Face His Darkest Case Yet—And His Own Haunted Past When fifteen-year-old Trayvon Clapper is murdered by a guard at Camp B in Florida, his fringe-living mother and boyfriend come to Bergman-Deketomis to file a lawsuit against the facility. Details of the case trigger in Deke memories of his own troubled childhood. As a boy, Deke had no stable parents around him, so he lived with several different families over the years as he grew up, avoiding the foster care system. However, his best friend, Bucky, was not so fortunate. He, too, was killed in a similar facility… and Deke has carried within him a powerful guilt that he has never talked about to anyone, including his wife and children. Cara Deketomis, Deke's daughter, is a young lawyer at the firm also working on the case. She comes to recognize the pain her father is feeling but she does not have the ability to break through to the truth. An opportunity in Cara's personal life also hammers a wedge between father and daughter, adding more stress to the situation. Meanwhile, investigation into the case uncovers a hidden threat that could endanger everyone at the law firm. A corrupt Congressman, Bob Minds, and his shady colleague, Skyler Bannock, are “fixers” for Phoenix Industries, the parent company of Camp B and other child “protective” services facilities that do anything but that. Minds and Bannock resort to nefarious crimes to make Phoenix's problems go away,i ncluding bribery, intimidation, and even murder. And then there's Skyler's brother, Midas, a killer straight out of a nightmare, who does the team's dirtiest work. Will the ugly forces behind the scenes wreak lethal havoc on Deke and his team? Will the echo of Deke's guilt get in the way of a successful legal action against Phoenix? In the tradition of The Middleman, Suspicious Activity, and Inhuman Trafficking, Papantonio takes Deke and his cohorts on a new and different kind of legal gamble, but full of the action and thrills for which he is known. Email us at podcast@pursueGOD.org.Donate Now--The End of Gatekeepers: Understanding Priesthood in HebrewsFor many, especially those coming from a Latter-day Saint background, the word priesthood is synonymous with a ladder of authority—a series of offices, keys, and lineages required to act in God's name. In this view, the Aaronic and Melchizedek priesthoods are essential roles that men must hold to administer ordinances and bridge the gap between God and man. However, a "crash course" in the Book of Hebrews reveals a radically different story. In the Bible, the priesthood isn't a ladder you climb to get more authority; it is the story of how God removed every ladder so you could finally walk directly into His presence. The Tabernacle: A "Keep Out" SignIn the Old Testament, the priesthood system served as much as a barrier as it did a bridge. The Tabernacle was designed in layers—the outer court, the Holy Place, and finally, the Most Holy Place. This innermost room, representing God's presence, was strictly restricted. Only the high priest could enter, and only once a year with a sacrifice. As Hebrews 9:8 explains, this system was designed to show that the way into the holiest place was not yet freely open. The Problem with the Aaronic SystemWhile many are taught that the Aaronic priesthood is a necessary office for today, Hebrews describes it as a "shadow system." Hebrews 7:18 goes as far as to call these Old Testament regulations "weak and useless" because they could never truly clear a person's conscience. They were a temporary fix that became obsolete the moment the true High Priest, Jesus, arrived. The Untransferable Priesthood of MelchizedekThe most significant point of tension lies in the Melchizedek priesthood. In the LDS tradition, this is a higher office given to many men. But Hebrews 7:24 says that Jesus holds His priesthood permanently because He lives forever. The Greek term used here implies that His priesthood is untransferable—it does not pass from one person to another. If Jesus' priesthood cannot be transferred, then no other man—past or present—can hold it. Jesus didn't come to restore a priesthood for men to hold; He came to be the Priest so that human mediators would no longer be necessary. The Veil is TornWhen Jesus finished His sacrifice on the cross, the massive curtain in the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. This was God's "Emancipation Proclamation," signaling that the restricted zone is now open to everyone.Today, we don't need a human gatekeeper, a temple recommend, or a specific office to reach God. Because of Jesus, every believer is part of a "royal priesthood" (1 Peter 2:9). We are invited to come boldly to the throne of grace, not because of our own authority or a certificate, but because of the finished work of Jesus Christ.

> I almost don't read code now. My approach with Roborev is it's like my code reader. The mantra is: Roborev reads every line of code that is generated. It gets read multiple times. And so, whenever I push up a pull request, the branch gets re-reviewed. And so by the time I'm merging a pull request into a repository, the code has all been read by agents four or five times minimum. I look at the code in terms of structural detail: does it look right?— Wes McKinney (creator of pandas, POSIT)Wes, Jeremiah Lowin (Prefect), and Randy Olson (Good Eye Labs) join Hugo and his cohost Thomas Wiecki (PyMC Labs) for the premiere of Show Us Your Agent Skills, a live session where guests walk us through the exact skills, workflows, and setups they use to work with agents every day.We Discuss:* Wes McKinney on why he barely writes, or even reads, code anymore, his “software factory” of parallel agents, and RoboRev, the background reviewer that reads every line four or five times before he merges;* The shift from “vibe coding” to agentic engineering, and why verification, not reading, is the part that actually matters;* Jeremiah Lowin on years of context engineering: trickling voice memos, recorded meetings, and morning briefs into his agent's memory substrate as a true “second brain”;* Why Jeremiah picked OpenCode specifically for how deeply he can customize its memory, and what he's building with FastMCP, Prefab, and Cardboard;* Randy Olson on encoding human judgment, like Tufte's rules for data visualization, directly into agent skills, so the agents themselves perform the verification;* The “digital twin” Randy loads into his agents as a thought partner that pushes back instead of agreeing;* Skills as thin drivers, progressive disclosure, and managing context rot across extended sessions;* The rise of ephemeral, “just for me” software that agents finally make viable.Skills and workflows discussed and shown in the episode:* Wes's RoboRev background code reviewer, his “software factory” dashboard, and his agentic engineering setup built on the Superpowers skills framework;* Jeremiah's “explain” skill (which anchors every other skill he has), his voice memo memory pipeline, his FastMCP and Prefab projects, and Cardboard, his ephemeral presentation tool;* Randy's data visualization verifier skills, his digital twin thought partner prompt, his cron job reports for colleagues, and his reflect and improve skill design pattern.Check out the GitHub repo where we're starting to drop some of these skills and workflows for you to grab and try yourself. You can also find the full episode on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube. You can also interact directly with the transcript here in NotebookLM: If you do so, let us know anything you find in the comments!Up next on Show Us Your Agent Skills: Hilary Mason (CEO, HiddenDoor), Bryan Bischof (Theory Ventures), Eric Ma (Research DS lead, Moderna Therapeutics), and Tomasz Tunguz (Theory Ventures). Watch it on YouTube: https://youtu.be/xnLyii6krVg   What does it take to run a four-generation family business through cotton, cattle, pipeline restoration, AND a 7-truck hopper fleet — all at the same time? This week we sat down with Bob Blackwell and his son-in-law Jared Reaves at Blackwell Trucking in Wayne, Oklahoma. Three generations of Blackwells have worked this land. Bob started chasing pipeline restoration jobs 25 years ago when one came across his field — and built Blackwell Trucking on the side just to keep his own equipment moving. Then the last four years took a swing at them. Pipeline work went quiet. Solar customers walked off with over half a million dollars of unpaid work. Flatbed rates collapsed. And the family that had survived everything from boll weevils to a 1970s farm bankruptcy was looking for a way forward. Then Jared heard a podcast in his pig barn that changed everything. In this conversation we get into the full picture: how pipeline restoration actually works, why Bob won't buy stockers, the brutal economics of cattle and cotton, why he calls solar "a shell game," the wreck-truck rebuild, the engine that came apart in the shop, the role of faith in their business, and the very human moments behind the family's "GIG, GAP" philosophy — God Is Good, God Always Provides. Well, wine helps me cope, but this is my future: working hard. Hay que andar con casco, las luces, y respetar las señales. Wear a helmet, use lights, and respect the signs. My favorite part of this job is that I entertain myself a lot. I'm outside in the streets. I go into many different restaurants and supermarkets. And my least favorite part is when customers don't answer, or they don't open the door, and you have to call the App's customer service. That's where a lot of time is wasted. That's the bad part. [APARTMENT BUZZ] Muchos edificios así, viejos, toca subir, caminar seis [o] cinco pisos, [y] bajar. Many buildings like this, old, you have to go up, walk six or five floors, and then come down. Free DNA Activation Masterclass + 21-Day Abundance Meditation: https://masterclass.samuelbleemd.com/dna Peptides I use personally to regenerate, heal, and stay sharp: https://limitlesslivingmd.com/samuel In this episode, Dr. Samuel B. Lee, MD takes you on a profound solo journey into the hidden architecture of human consciousness, revealing the original divine blueprint encoded within your DNA, the Eternal Sacred Law of One, and the ancient records known as the CDT Plates. Through a powerful metaphor of the “Father's house of many mansions,” Dr. Lee explores the possibility that most of humanity is living in only a tiny fraction of our true multidimensional potential. From the illusion of separation and forgotten spiritual history to the awakening of intron potential DNA, this episode challenges conventional narratives about identity, consciousness, and humanity's origins. Dr. Lee shares how ancient wisdom, modern science, and spiritual remembrance converge to reveal that the keys to transformation have always been within us. This episode dives deep into multidimensional consciousness, the celestial human template, and the cosmic lineage of spiritual scientists known as the Melchizedek Cloister Emerald Order, offering insight into why this moment in human history may represent a rare turning point for collective awakening. Sacred Truths & Lessons from This Episode: • You Are Living in Only a Fraction of Your True Potential – Humanity may be experiencing just “two rooms” of a much larger multidimensional design. • Your DNA Holds the Divine Blueprint – The so-called “junk DNA” may contain dormant spiritual and energetic potential waiting to be activated. • The Eternal Sacred Law of One – All existence is interconnected, and love is the cohesive force that unites the universe. • You Don't Need a Middleman to Reach Source – Your direct connection to divine consciousness already exists within you. • Spiritual Awakening Is Biological as Well as Spiritual – Transformation involves the remembrance and activation of your inner Christos blueprint. • The Great Awakening Begins Within – When individuals remember who they truly are, humanity's collective future shifts.

“I have always said that they are the same person. And the drama of this story is that one ends up dead in the darkest prison in America, and the other in the White House.” — Michael WolffA few days ago we had Jason Pack on the show suggesting that the Anglo-American media elite had a degree of complicity in the Epstein scandal. Michael Wolff disagrees. The media weren't complicit, he says. They were just dumb. They found the story unseemly, were uncomfortable with it, and avoided it out of disdain—not conspiracy. David Remnick of The New Yorker was “dismissive of the whole thing.” The word Wolff keeps coming back to is “ick.”Wolff knew Epstein. He recorded an estimated hundred hours of interviews with him. He has tried repeatedly to sell an Epstein book. Every publisher passed—the last time as recently as autumn 2025. One cited “the ick factor.” Others feared a Trump lawsuit. The man who made fortunes for publishers with Fire and Fury couldn't get a deal on the story he knows best. If you want the closest thing to a firsthand account, Wolff says, read “The Last Days of Jeffrey Epstein” in his collection Too Famous. He's probably right. What emerges from the conversation is a portrait of Epstein as a middleman in a city of middlemen—but one who was genuinely interested in the people he connected, which is rare in that world. His sexual depravity was at war with his ambition to be respectable. The blackmail theory? “Certainly not true,” Wolff says. People came because they liked being there. He was their friend. And then there's Trump. Wolff's most explosive claim is that they are the same person—the closest relationship both men had in life was with each other. The drama is that one ends up dead in the darkest prison in America and the other in the White House. It's Gatsby without the romance. And that's what makes them both so vile.As for the Trump show, Wolff has given up predicting its end. It doesn't end until Trump dies. He is sui generis—nobody will replace him. He doesn't understand legacy, doesn't care about it, and when it's no longer about him, could give a fuck. We'll be trying to figure out how this happened for the next hundred years. Five Takeaways•       The Media Didn't Conspire—They Were Just Dumb: Wolff dismisses the idea that the Anglo-American media elite knew more about Epstein than they were letting on. They didn't know anything, he says. They found the story unseemly, were uncomfortable with it, and avoided it out of disdain—not conspiracy. David Remnick of The New Yorker was “dismissive of the whole thing.”•       No Publisher Would Touch the Epstein Book: Wolff has tried repeatedly to sell an Epstein book. Every publisher passed. One cited “the ick factor.” Others feared a Trump lawsuit. The last attempt was autumn 2025. The man who made fortunes publishing Fire and Fury couldn't get a deal on the story he knows best. The publishing industry's failure of nerve, Wolff says, is total.•       Trump and Epstein Are the Same Person: Wolff's most explosive claim: Trump and Epstein are the same person. The closest relationship both men had in life was with each other. The drama of the story is that one ends up dead in the darkest prison in America and the other in the White House. Gatsby without the romance.•       Epstein Was a Middleman in a City of Middlemen: What made Epstein different wasn't the blackmail—Wolff says that's “certainly not true.” People came because they liked being there. Epstein was genuinely interested in the people he connected, which is rare among New York's professional middlemen. His sexual depravity was at war with his ambition to be respectable.•       The Trump Show Doesn't End Until He Dies: Wolff has been predicting the end of Trump for years. He now concedes it probably doesn't end until Trump departs “this veil of tears.” Trump is sui generis—no one will replace him. He doesn't care about legacy. He doesn't even understand the concept. When it's no longer about him, he could give a fuck. About the GuestMichael Wolff is a two-time National Magazine Award winner and the author of Fire and Fury, Siege, Landslide, All or Nothing, and Too Famous. He has been a columnist for Vanity Fair, New York, the Hollywood Reporter, and the Guardian. This episode of The Tech Leaders Podcast takes a different format from our usual leadership interviews. The recent acquisition of VMware by Broadcom has sent significant ripples through the enterprise IT landscape. As one of the most widely deployed infrastructure platforms in the world, VMware sits at the heart of many global technology estates. The commercial changes that have followed the acquisition have prompted widespread discussion across the market. The ongoing court case involving Tesco and Broadcom has brought those issues into sharp focus. What may appear to be a contractual dispute raises much broader questions around platform dependency, vendor discretion and how resilient enterprise IT contracts are when ownership changes hands. In this special episode, Gareth Davies is joined by licensing specialist Barry Pilling to unpack the case, explore the latest developments, and discuss what it could mean for enterprise software licensing and commercial governance going forward. For CIOs, technology leaders and procurement teams responsible for major vendor relationships, this conversation looks at the wider implications, and the questions organisations should be asking right now. Timestamps: Introduction and Barry's Background (2:04) VMWare and the Broadcom Acquisition (5:00) The Rise of Virtualisation (8:50) The Tesco Dispute Background (12:38) Organisations Exposure to Licensing Risk (22:45) Other Broadcom Cases (29:22) Death of the Middleman? As digital tools reshape the real estate industry, the landscaping sector is experiencing its own evolution. Technology and horticulture are intersecting in new ways, and ServeScape is at the center of that shift. Mario Cambardella, founder and CEO of ServeScape, joins host Carol Morgan on the Atlanta Real Estate Forum Radio podcast to discuss how the company's InstaScape platform connects homeowners directly to local growers and uses artificial intelligence (AI) to support more resilient landscape design. Cutting Out the Middleman in Landscaping Traditional plant purchasing often involves multiple intermediaries, increasing handling and reducing transparency. Cambardella launched ServeScape in 2020 to eliminate that friction while preserving plant health and quality. “I was trying to solve a broken experience, because people wanted beautiful landscapes, but the process was very fragmented,” said Cambardella. “It was intimidating, and it was disconnected from some of the best plant material, the growers. These are the people that put pride and joy into every plant that they grow.” ServeScape operates as an inventory-based online marketplace. Users enter their ZIP code to access locally available plants. Landscaping professionals receive tiered pricing, but homeowners can purchase the same commercial-grade materials for their home projects. By shipping directly from growers, ServeScape reduces handling, preserves plant health and keeps pricing competitive. The platform also manages logistics and last-mile delivery, making locally grown material even more accessible. The company is proud to serve Atlanta homeowners, churches, community organizations and local parks with expert landscaping solutions and materials. Why Planning Now Prevents Spring Landscaping Mistakes “Stop thinking of spring as the start,” said Cambardella. “Winter planning, soil prep, design decisions, plant selection — this is when spring success actually starts.” Cambardella emphasizes that waiting until spring to start your landscaping project often leads to inventory shortages and rushed decisions. Waiting until spring often results in limited inventory and rushed decisions. Late winter provides time to gather inspiration, secure designers and select plants before peak demand arrives. That is also a good time for soil amendments, mulching and installing hardy plant material such as ornamental grasses and evergreens. Gardeners can then add sensitive perennials after Atlanta's average last frost in late April. What Makes a Landscape Truly Resilient? For Cambardella, resilience means designing landscapes that thrive with minimal intervention. They should withstand heavy rains in the spring, heat and drought in the summer and changing conditions between seasons. Cambardella explains that landscaping success often comes down to placing the right plant in the right location. Locally grown plants play a critical role in achieving resilience. National retailers may source inventory from climates that differ from North Georgia's, but local growers have the plants Atlanta homeowners need. By sourcing from local growers, homeowners increase long-term survival rates and reduce frustration, replacement costs and excessive watering. InstaScape: AI-Powered Landscape Design ServeScape recently introduced InstaScape, an AI-powered design tool that helps homeowners visualize potential landscapes using plants that are available for purchase. “We see AI as a way to remove some of the friction,” said Cambardella. “We don't see AI as a replacement for a human — we still believe in the human touch.” Users upload a photo of their yard, select a design style and receive a visual rendering in minutes. Homeowners can use the AI tool independently or add professional services from ServeScape's team of landscape architects and horticulturists. Service options also allow users to scale support based on project needs. The best part? InstaScape is free to use! “There's no payment required for InstaScape,” said Cambardella. “This is a tool that we want to ignite excitement for beautiful and resilient landscapes for all.” Native, Pollinator & Edible Landscapes on the Rise Design preferences across metro Atlanta are shifting as homeowners reconsider turf-heavy yards. Cambardella said clients increasingly request landscapes that serve both aesthetic and ecological purposes. “Native and pollinator gardens are huge,” he said. “We also see a big uptick in more edible landscapes.” Instead of expansive, high-maintenance lawns, many homeowners now favor layered plantings filled with native perennials, flowering shrubs and ornamental grasses. These landscapes support birds, bees and butterflies while reducing mowing, irrigation and chemical inputs. Cambardella also noted that food-producing landscapes are gaining momentum. Kitchen gardens, fruiting shrubs and herb beds allow homeowners to harvest fresh ingredients just steps from their doors. Even small spaces can incorporate edible elements without sacrificing design. “One of the terms that we've been throwing around is food-producing landscape,” he said. “Sometimes a native — you take up some of your yard to do wildflowers or some of that — it might not be food for you, but it's food for birds and bees and butterflies.” That dual-purpose mindset appeals to homeowners who want intentional design with long-term resilience. Rather than installing plants that demand constant replacement or irrigation, they choose species adapted to Georgia's heat, drought cycles and heavy rains. This more natural, garden-forward aesthetic replaces rigid, high-maintenance lawns with landscapes that feel softer and more dynamic. Wildflower meadows, deer-resistant plantings and pollinator corridors now appear in suburban backyards across the region. The result is a landscape that balances beauty with function — one that supports local ecology, reduces maintenance demands and evolves gracefully year after year. “There's a lot of restorative power in the garden,” said Cambardella. “Bring your problem to the garden, and I promise you that there will be something there to inspire you.” Tune in to the full episode to hear how ServeScape is reshaping Atlanta's landscaping industry by connecting homeowners directly with locally grown plants and innovative design tools. There's a strange relief in knowing you're not the final decision-maker. When you're the middleman, you carry conversations, pass along details, and try not to waste anyone's time—yet somehow, time still slips away. Sales calls turn into relay races. Questions get filtered. Answers get delayed. And you start to wonder if being helpful sometimes means stepping out of the way.In this episode, I talk about the awkward space of being the go-between—the tension of wanting to be respectful of everyone's time while knowing you don't actually hold the “yes” or the “no.” It's a reflection on clarity, responsibility, and the freedom that comes from putting people directly in front of the decision-maker. Sometimes the most honest thing you can do isn't to negotiate or explain… it's to connect and let go.

In this episode of Watchdog on Wall Street, we break down Trump's tweet, the deeper flaws in the Affordable Care Act, and why real insurance — true risk-based coverage — disappeared long before Obamacare ever arrived. In this solo episode of Game Changers for Government Contractors, Michael LeJeune breaks down the federal government's OneGov strategy, a move that centralizes enterprise agreements with giants like Microsoft, Oracle, AWS, and Google. For years, many contractors relied on the “middleman” model, making margins by simply reselling software and hardware licenses. But those days are coming to an end. Michael explains why OneGov eliminates the need for traditional resellers, how it will save taxpayers billions, and why contractors must pivot from pass-through deals to high-value services like integration, customization, and managed solutions. He also shares strategies for teaming with vendors, building outcomes-based offerings, and shifting to work with higher margins. If your business depends on reselling, this episode is a wake-up call. But if you're ready to evolve into a true solution provider, OneGov could open massive opportunities. ----- Frustrated with your government contracting journey? One of the year's best films opens in theaters this weekend, and today Ian sits down with Killing Faith star DeWanda Wise and writer/director Ned Crowley for a look at the making of this twisty, twisted, and powerful supernatural horror western! The film centers on Sarah (Wise), a freed slave living on the outskirts of a desert town in 1849. She is determined to get to her daughter to a faith healer (Bill Pullman) in a neighboring territory, in the hopes that he can exorcise whatever evil causes instantaneous death in anyone (or anything) the little girl touches. Along the way, Sarah collects a group of troubled outcasts, including a disgraced ether junky/doctor named Steelbender (Guy Pearce), whose atheism is put to the test with every bizarre encounter besetting their caravan. In the following two interviews, Ian digs into Killing Faith's characters, the conditions under which this top-notch indie was pulled together, and how the film connects to Crowley's first feature, Middle Man--which he and Ian discussed nearly a decade ago. Introduction In this Walk and Talk episode, Ian Banner explores one of the most liberating truths in Christianity: you don't need a spiritual middleman to hear from God. Drawing from Jeremiah 31:31, Ian reveals how the new covenant fundamentally changed our relationship with the divine—moving from priest-mediated encounters to direct, personal connection with God.Ian unpacks the historical shift from Old Testament sacrifice systems, where priests determined whether your offering was "good enough," to the new covenant promise that "they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest." You'll discover why Jesus's words in John 10:27—"My sheep hear my voice"—aren't just for spiritual elites, but for every believer. This isn't about diminishing spiritual leadership, but about understanding the true role of guides versus gatekeepers. Ian challenges listeners to stop second-guessing those gentle promptings and quiet directions, encouraging direct spiritual sensitivity rather than constant external validation.Whether you've been uncertain about your ability to hear from God or you've been waiting for someone else to interpret divine guidance for you, this episode will transform how you approach your personal relationship with the Creator. Stop waiting for permission to listen—God is already speaking directly to you.Chapters00:00 Introduction: Personal Relationship with God 02:30 Old Testament Spiritual Middlemen System 05:45 The New Covenant Promise from Jeremiah 31:31 08:20 Jesus and Direct Divine Communication 11:10 Redefining Spiritual Leadership Roles 13:40 Trusting Your Spiritual Sensitivity 16:25 Practical Steps for Direct God Connection 18:50 Call to Action and ClosingThanks for reading The School of Safe and Humble Prophets!
