Maureen Electa Monte was first introduced to strengths in a leadership class in 2006. She immediately started using strengths with her own grad students, with a focus on teams. She recently authored the book “Destination Unstoppable”, which discusses a model for leading, accelerating and fully harnessing the talent on a team. She is able to ignite the chemistry on teams by helping them understand their own and each teammate's CliftonStrengths. Providing a renewed energy and optimism. Maureen's primary work has been with sports teams, but she also works with business teams. The difference, she says, is the mindset of the coach and business leader. A coach knows he needs to invest in his players to win. A business leader doesn't always see it from that perspective. With a business leader she has to first help them understand why developing their team is a worthy investment for them.To learn more about becoming a Certified Strengths Coach at the Gallup Strengths Center: http://on.gallup.com/1i5OXhq.Gallup's Called to Coach is a live Webcast that targets current and prospective coaches to interact with Gallup experts and independent strengths coaches who have found success in strengths-based development.

On a recent Called to Coach, we spoke with Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, Lopamudra Das.Since childhood, Lopamudra was interested in self-discovery. Despite this keen interest, Lopa often struggled to understand her behavior. Lopa was introduced to the Strengths movement a few years ago -- and learning about and understanding her strengths has made her journey to self-discovery easier and more meaningful. Lopa found catharsis in her self-awareness through strengths -- it has helped her be comfortable with her natural talents. Lopa has translated her affinity for self-discovery into coaching. She loves helping people understand their key talents and then nurturing those key talents into productive strengths. For instance, Lopa had a client that felt constantly financially insecure -- despite his steady and successful job and diverse portfolio of investments. Lopa was confused about the contradiction between the client's fears and his actual financial reality until "I did a deep dive into his strengths and personal life." This client was dividing his time and resources between family members in multiple cities. The lack of quality time with individual family members caused him to live in the basement of some of his strengths -- Deliberative and Responsibility. The client constantly asked himself, "What can go wrong?" and he fixated on his income. As his coach, Lopa was able to speak to the client about his strengths and how best to be in the balcony of them. She showed him that he was financially sound and that he should spend longer periods of time with each family member and make less individual trips to each city. With that information, Lopa's client stopped obsessing about his finances and began to enjoy his life again. On a recent Called to Coach we spoke with Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach, Oscar Trimboli. To learn more about becoming a Certified Strengths Coach at the Gallup Strengths Center: http://on.gallup.com/1i5OXhq.Gallup's Called to Coach is a live Webcast that targets current and prospective coaches to interact with Gallup experts and independent strengths coaches who have found success in strengths-based development.Oscar built a successful career as a developer at Microsoft. One of his proudest achievements was the creation of Microsoft Protégé -- an experiential learning environment for students to gain insights and skills while working on real world projects. While at Microsoft, Oscar was promoted to a managerial position where he tailored development plans to each of his team members. A significant part of his new role involved discussing his team members' potential and opportunities for growth. He was so successful at improving his team's productivity and engagement that his boss recommended that Oscar consider personal coaching as a business opportunity. After extensively researching the possibility of starting his own consulting business focused on personal coaching, Oscar decided to make the transition and leave the corporate offices of Microsoft. It was at this time that he discovered the Clifton StrengthsFinder and the strengths movement -- and he was hooked. Oscar explained that he finally had a comprehensive language for the coaching and development he had done at Microsoft. He immediately incorporated strengths into the heart of his new consulting business. Since beginning his coaching business, Oscar has had the opportunity to work with fascinating people all over the world. One of his favorite strengths success stories was working with ultramarathon swimmer, James Pittar. Over the course of his lifetime, James has swam more than 24,000 miles -- nearly the circumference of the earth at its equator! But what's most remarkable is that James is blind. James contacted Oscar to coach him on his strengths and to help him write a book about his life. Oscar guided James through the booking writing process – he held him accountable to strict deadlines and worked with him on editing content. Oscar and James agreed that James's blindness would never be used as an excuse to not write or improve the book. Oscar explained that he would never have met an extraordinary person like James without becoming a strengths coach.
