Moses begins the fourth account of Genesis with an overview of Noah's three sons and their descendants. He starts with Japheth and his descendants, who are likely the ancestors of majority of those listening to this podcast.Music Credit: J. S. We are now at a point in Genesis to begin exploring God's plan to redeem the nations and make a people for himself. Genesis 10 details the individuals and nations who descend from the sons of Noah. Yet, the passage is more than a list of names. It serves a crucial part of God laying the foundation for the rest of the drama of redemption so he may ultimately establish his supreme kingdom. 

Hearing about the sons of Noah fathering children after the Flood gives us an opportunity to reflect on how their parental attitude might have changed in their new circumstances, and to reflect on our own parenting.Music Credit: J. Moses details various nations that the LORD brings about through the three sons of Noah after the flood. The extensive record reminds us that all humanity shares a common ancestry going back to Noah, and the LORD cares about all humanity. Particular nations and individuals are highlighted due to their ongoing significance in the Old Testament and their enduring interactions with the nation of Israel. The number of the nations listed in the chapter corresponds closely to the number of disciples Jesus sends out in Luke 10, highlighting that the Gospel is for all nations.  Rev. After we wade through genealogies of Noah's sons, we encounter the tower of Babel, a monument to man's rebellion against God. Being made in the image of God, these men imitate their creator by creating, which is all well and good, except that they defy God's command to fill the earth and attempt to rob God of glory by making a name for themselves. God graciously uses language to scatter them so they can see the expansive majesty of His Creation rather than stare at the cute little tower they've made.
