Main Idea. God's grace produces a good conscience, firm convictions, and close companionship with Jesus Christ yielding faithful testimony. Driving Question. What are components of faithful testifying amidst a trial? We will be diligent to look at three things today to build up our faith in trial. 1. A Clear Conscience Before Christ (22:30–23:5) Application: Live in a way that realizes God sees everything (Coram Deo). Cultivate a clear conscience. But how? a. Christ's grace cleanses the conscience. b. Christ's approval is our aim, not mans. c. Christ is what we speak all the time. 2. A Commitment to Convictions About Christ (23:6–10) 3. A Close Companionship with Christ (11) How does Jesus strengthen Paul? Jesus stands with him. Jesus points to Paul's faithful testimony in Jerusalem (11). Jesus points to Paul's future testimony in Rome (11). Takeaways. [for faithfully testifying this week] Delight that Christ stands with you in this life, because he stood for you on the cross. Examine your conscience and confess any sin to Christ. Preach Christ and the good news of the empty tomb.

Introduction Here is your 2-minute tip wrapping up the 30-part series based on the book, “Plain speaking: How to preach and teach effectively" by David Bercot. I'm not going to attempt a comprehensive summary, but instead offer a charge. Preach Christ John the Baptist heralded the Kingdom, Jesus preached the arrival of the Kingdom, and he sent his followers to do the same. The good news is that the kingdom is here, and all can enter to receive the life of Christ. Make that the core of what you preach. In other words, teach doctrine, but preach Christ. Explain the text and its meaning, but do not make the text the point - instead elevate Jesus. Convey your convictions, but do not let your personal agenda obscure Jesus. Contemplate these statements of the Apostle Paul: 1 Corinthians 1.23 - “but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,” 2 Corinthians 4.5 - “For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake.” Galatians 1.16 - “to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, my immediate response was not to consult any human being.” When preaching, ask yourself how Jesus will be glorified by your lesson. What are your thoughts on the today's tip? Conclusion Next week I have some tips for when you are asked to speak outdoors. Has today's tip been worth two minutes of your time? I hope so. We do not preach politics or social justice. We do not preach how to earn God's love by keeping the commandments. We do not preach there's many ways to heaven. We preach Christ crucified - foolishness and weakness to the world but to us, the wisdom and power of God for all who believe. This sermon based on 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 was preached for the Third Sunday in Lent, March 3, 2024, for a sermon series called "The Way to Victory."

On this episode of The Alabaster Jar, Dr. Lynn Cohick and Kelly Dippolito are joined by Dr. Beth Allison Barr to discuss her research on women's lives in the medieval period, focusing on the role of clerical texts and sermons in understanding their experiences. She explores the importance of figures like Mary and Eve in medieval sermons and the treatment of single women in medieval society. Barr also discusses the concept of marriage debt and the understanding of motherhood in the medieval period. She highlights the lessons that can be learned from medieval times for today, including the recognition of women as human beings and the importance of women's voices and leadership in the church. The conversation also explores the impact of female saints and the need to bring alive women of the Bible and the church. It highlights the lack of visibility of women in modern evangelicalism, both in leadership structures and physical spaces of churches. The conversation also discusses the historical influence on gender roles and the perpetuation of the narrative that women are not as important as men in the spiritual economy. The Bible holds its greatest meaning and richness when interpreted through the lens of Jesus-shaped goggles, revealing its Main Character and guiding us towards explicitly Christian sermons. It is through this transformative perspective that the profound wisdom of the scriptures emerges, showcasing how each passage, story, and verse converges to illuminate the life, teachings, and grace of Jesus. Nick Cady and Mike Neglia joined forces to lead an enlightening workshop the picturesque setting of Boise Idaho. Their mission was to equip attendees with the tools to deliver Gospel-centered sermons that resonated with the essence of the gospel from any part of the Bible.Throughout the event, participants immersed themselves in a captivating atmosphere of learning, exploration, and revelation. They learned to discern the gospel's truth and significance in every page of the Bible, discovering how its messages beautifully interweave with the redemptive narrative of Jesus Christ. With eloquence and expertise, the speakers showcased the power of preaching with authenticity, relevancy, and heartfelt conviction. Participants were encouraged to connect biblical truths with the real-life experiences and struggles of their audience, bridging the gap between the ancient texts and contemporary challenges. The ultimate goal was to point people towards the transformative power of the gospel, urging them to embrace the profound love, redemption, and grace found in Christ. As the event concluded, the attendees left equipped and inspired to proclaim the gospel from every passage, impacting lives and transforming hearts with the eternal truth of Jesus's love.Recommended Episodes: How to Preach Christ from Every Text: https://www.expositorscollective.com/podcast/2019/3/26/episode-40-how-to-preach-christ-from-every-text Heralding the Voice of Christ - Glen Scrivener : https://www.expositorscollective.com/podcast/2021/5/18/heralding-the-voice-of-christ-glen-scrivener Showing the Gospel in All of Scripture: https://www.expositorscollective.com/podcast/2020/10/7/showing-the-gospel-in-all-of-scripture-char-brodersen-pete-nelson-mike-neglia Is it a stretch to say that everything in the Bible points to Jesus? -https://anchor.fm/theologyforthepeople/episodes/Christ-Centered-Hermeneutics---Part-1-Is-it-a-stretch-to-say-that-everything-in-the-Bible-points-to-Jesus----with-Mike-Neglia-e17q0sdResponding to Objections to Christ-Centered Hermeneutics: https://anchor.fm/theologyforthepeople/episodes/Christ-Centered-Hermeneutics---Part-2-Responding-to-Objections-to-Christ-Centered-Hermeneutics---with-Mike-Neglia-e18563k For information about our upcoming training events visit ExpositorsCollective.com The Expositors Collective podcast is part of the CGNMedia, Working together to proclaim the Gospel, make disciples, and plant churches.
