Ever been in a mall and wondered about the ridiculously good-looking people staring back at you from kiosk ads and clothing store bags? Well, wonder no more! Actor/model Spencer Hill joins our new episode to talk about his career, which includes being the face of Aveda’s men’s grooming line and appearing in countless commercials and TV shows, including Grey’s Anatomy, True Blood and CSI:NY. Joined by guest co-host Gren Wells, Spencer helps drink three bottles of wine from Ben’s personal cellar as he discusses aging into playing the “sexy dad,” how modeling is a family affair that includes his wife Alicia Hill and their son, and what it was like to play Avril Lavigne’s boyfriend in a music video. Because that happened.
Gren Wells is an established writer and producer who has sold more than 20 projects, and was named one of "10 Directors to Watch" by Variety. Her directorial debut is the road-trip dramedy, The Road Within.
Where does reality sit in the entertainment landscape—as its crowd-pleasing future or in its sordid past? We sit down with prolific reality producer Craig Armstrong (The Hero, Fashion Star, King of the Nerds) to talk about how the genre is hard to classify, as it’s got as many tiers and categories as movies and scripted TV. As guest host Gren Wells helps the panel drink three cheap(ish) bottles of Australian Cabernet Sauvignon, they discuss the ingredients of a successful reality series, how Armstrong got his start in Hollywood producing videos for “Weird Al” Yankovic, and how a moment with his toddler son in the kitchen led to a popular international reality show still airing today.
Nothing looms larger on Hollywood’s horizon than China—how to appeal to its audiences, attract its investment dollars, and navigate its rules and customs along the way. In this episode, we talk about the intricacies of Chinese funding with two American producers who have done plenty of it: Resonate Entertainment’s Brent Emery and Nick D’Angelo of China-backed Cristal Pictures. Over three bottles of wine from Spain’s Lopez de Heredia winery, the panel discusses the negative affect of a crackdown by the Chinese government on money fleeing the country, and why forming personal connections with Chinese backers is essential to a transaction. Meanwhile, director Gren Wells fills in for an absent Scott to talk about her role in the New York Times article that broke the news of Louis C.K.’s sexual misconduct.
Gren Wells is a badass -- whether rocking haute couture on the film-festival circuit, getting Hollywood's attention with a script about cancer (A Little Bit of Heaven starring Kate Hudson), or writing and directing last year's The Road Within with Robert Sheehan, Dev Patel, Zoe Kravitz, and Kyra Sedgwick. True to form, Gren doesn't disappoint in this episode, coming in hot and never taking her foot off the gas as we cuss, guzzle 19-year-old Barolo, and enjoy nuggets about her psychotic non-stop writing binges and how getting uncomfortably aggressive at a party with On Golden Pond producer Bruce Gilbert helped kickstart her career.

Brooks, I love my movie and I know that it can change people's lives, anything is possible, seeing something all the way though, already hyper in a resting state, unproduced rom-coms bought my house, laugh and cry... sometimes at the same moment, doing it for a living, you're giving the audience a chance to breathe, by way of New York and Robert Fucking Patrick and the blue cheese.
