This week on The Marvelists present Catholic Guilt: A Daredevil: Born Again Podcast, hosts Peter and Eddie dive deep into the penultimate chapter of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, Episode 8, titled "Isle of Joy." The episode unravels major revelations as Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) confronts the truth behind Foggy Nelson's tragic death, uncovering a deeper connection to Wilson Fisk's (Vincent D'Onofrio) schemes. The hosts explore Matt's intensifying Catholic guilt, heightened by his priestly reflections and moral struggles, as he navigates his rage against Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) and the emotional fallout with Heather Glenn (Margarita Levieva). They discuss the episode's pivotal scenes, including the Fisks' raw confessions and the escalating tension of Mayor Fisk's Black and White Ball, analyzing how the show balances gritty action with profound character-driven storytelling. The hosts also unpack the theological undertones, questioning whether Matt's faith can anchor him as he teeters on the edge of vengeance. As a bonus, Peter and Eddie touch on recent Marvel Universe buzz, including the quirky Wolverine ASMR audio experience, featuring Robert Patrick's grizzled Logan in a surreal, immersive soundscape from Marvel's Wastelanders: Wolverine. They also address Halle Berry's recent comments at CinemaCon 2025, where she playfully shut down rumors of reprising Storm in Avengers: Doomsday, leaving fans wondering if her coy response hides a future MCU cameo.
Paul and Erin review two films set primarily around strip clubs. Our art pick is Atom Egoyan's 1994 web-of-life drama EXOTICA, and our trash pick is Andrew Bergman's 1996 Demi Moore comedy STRIPTEASE.
The post-nuclear wasteland of Alaska is a dangerous place. You gotta walk tall and carry a big ass gun. He may be a man of few words, but Slade (Richard Norton) is the tallest SOB on the block! The Equalizer 2000 is wall to wall action with big explosions, brutal flamethrowers, and an infinite amount of bullets! Robert Patrick shines in his feature film debut. This unmistakably “B” movie is fun for sure…but is it badass?! Don't just watch Action, B-Action!!!!
This week we are dodging both serial killers and potentially God while we discuss “Improbable”! We're talking the strangely Italian everything about this episode, how much we adore Ray McKinnon's scowl, Burt Reynolds' charm, the lengths Robert Patrick will go to to avoid being in a silly scene, the probably sarcastic clapping circle for Reyes, and the forty-second shot where we all have to pretend Arlene Pileggi is Gillian Anderson. They thought we wouldn't notice! We derail for a while and try to figure out what NUMB3RS is about, throw tomatoes at all the bad lip-syncing, talk about how important it is for serial killers to name themselves, and feel a ghost walk over our graves about a terrifying deleted scene. We all dodged a bullet.Send us an email at scullynationpod@gmail.com or follow us on Instagram!

Come celebrate our 50th episode with us as we review what is likely the worst video game movie of all-time, Double Dragon (1994)! If it isn't the worst of all-time, it is definitely the worst that no one has seen...The cast (featuring Alyssa Milano and Robert Patrick) makes the most out of what they are given, which isn't much. Special effects? They looked better on the NES. Plot? Easier to understand on the NES.At least it is fun to make laugh at bad movies!

This week we are decoding secret demonic messages while we discuss “Daemonicus”! We're talking how disgusting it is to cheat at Scrabble, Professor Scully, how much quippy Doggett really doesn't work, the continuing saga of Scully emailing and driving, and how apparently Robert Patrick can't remember his lines because of his fear of demons. Sure, buddy. We lose our minds a little bit at Doggett's embarrassing theory, get grossed out because of all the vomit, wonder exactly how messy Reyes' car is, and sigh a lot because apparently Doggett is in love with Scully. Get ready for two hours of absolute madness as we dissect the cinematic fever dream that is The Terminator & Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Guess who's back? Yep, back again. Mike and Bill for another fun filled episode. Mike started out with his reading and it was about freedom, learning and being open to new ideas. It was a really good reading and made for a great conversation. Then we were all over the place again. We talked about football, Halloween, the top states for alcohol consumption, internet issues, turn signals, Marc Maron with Keith Urban and Robert Patrick, the 11th Step (we have it all figured out now), lies, excuses, tolerance and understanding. It was a lot, but we tried to make sense of it all. Or maybe we just had some fun doing it. Enjoy the episode. Visit us Podcast www.sobernotmature.com Store www.sobernotmatureshop.com

Go Go Double Dragons, Dooouble Dragons! Go Go Double Dragons! - AndyIn this episode of Fried Rice Podcast, we took on the hilariously chaotic Double Dragon (1994), a movie that felt like a bizarre mix of Mad Max, Power Rangers, and 90s video game nostalgia. The over-the-top villains, especially Robert Patrick's bleach-blonde bad guy, had us laughing throughout, and the absurd fight scenes, like the infamous gumball machine slip-up, just added to the ridiculousness. While we had fun mocking the movie's cheesy action and nonsensical plot, we agreed it was more of a so-bad-it's-good kind of experience. The final grade was a D, though we appreciated its unintentional comedy. -AI OverlordWe are on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5MHpzbpH9H0jXRCJI34KlC?si=a95fe723c01c4b6cWe are on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@FriedRicePodcastCheck out our website: www.friedricepodcast.comCall our VOICEMAIL: (702) 829-0117 and listen for this week's question!(don't worry, Andy isn't sitting in his room, waiting by his phone like it's the 90s, just fiddling with the long chord, watching "Power Rangers: Lost In Space"...)
Every weekday during HALLOWEEN HUMPFEST represents a different theme and today is our first discussion for Thursdays' theme we're calling TRUE THREAT THURSDAYS. Scary and chilling movies that are based upon true stories. Some selections are understandably more speculative than others and for our first “true threat” talk we're delving into an adaptation of an allegedly true alien abduction whose alien experimentation scene catapults what might have been a forgettable film into a certain level of notorious cult status. People around our age might know exactly what we're talking about when we reference THAT alien abduction scene. Thank goodness the director Robert Lieberman, as well as the writers and producers, opted to embellish Travis Walton's abduction details. Otherwise we wouldn't have gotten what is maybe the best alien abduction scene in film history. That's right, we're talking about the 1993 adaptation of the Travis Walton UFO incident called “FIRE IN THE SKY” starring Robert Patrick, James Garner & DB Sweeney. The actual story is controversial, even amongst UFO buffs, but either it's impressively real or almost equally impressively faked. We discuss this cult classic with the one legendary scene and compare it to the actual accounts at the end of the episode and give our thoughts on the matter. I couldn't find the picture of that Vietnamese girl from part 1, but I inadvertently sent myself on a journey of discovery into my past, and illuminated some new revelations. (One of them being “I've sent a LOT of dick pics in the last 15yrs”) I hate Kumal Nanjiani, but let me tell you why. I went to watch the Trump/Kamala debate live, and left dissatisfied on about 19 different levels. (Chicken tenders were involved) Trump is a bore on podcasts, and if I never hear about “the golden years of the Boston comedy scene” again, it'll be too fuckin soon. People seem to have hated Beetlejuice 2, I held strong and instead went to see Terminator 2. Jack Black was behind me in line for it, and I have a litany of thoughts about him AND the movie. Rain globs keep falling on my car, and (also) fuck “I see what you did there” guy, a fresh scourge in the Lukester's online life. I had a total Saturday night misfire, and I advocate for a “fats only” section of the beach. The Bureau has added “my laundromat” to their list of targets.

We're winding out our theme of dystopian futures in movies and we absolutely have to go back in time, once again, and try to prevent catastrophe. The Terminator is back and this time? He's your new dad and he's been sent back in time by your 45 year old self. Devastation may have been delayed but still imminent. There's hope still in keeping John Connor alive to destroy Skynet tomorrow. The resistance hacked an Arnold bot and sent it back but Skynet sent a Liquid Metal prototype back too and he's scary as fuck. A defining film for a generation, an exceptional action movie and a rare sequel that is better than the original. Of course we're talking about “TERMINATOR 2: JUDGMENT DAY” from 1991 directed by James Cameron and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, Robert Patrick, Edward Furlong and Joe Morton. With the help of his pet Terminator, John Connor and his mother can prevent the future and stop Skynet on the cusp of its creation so long as they can survive the relentless T-1000. There's always a few holes in any time travel story but we might enjoy this movie now even more than we did when we were kids. Jimmy knows what you want to see. In the final episode of this Too Hot For TV mini series on spin offs from other franchises, Dylan is joined by Ross from the General Witch Finders to talk all things Terminator. Together they discuss each of the cinematic outing for the franchise, before jumping into the comic 'The Burning Earth' written by Ron Fortier with art by Alex Ross, then they look at the Universal Studios ride T2-3D: Battle Across Time and finally they talk about the 90's Kenner Terminator 2 action figures. And as always the answer the burning questions: Who is sucking on a Robert Patrick? Why are the resistance so sexy? What has Arnie got in a dead cat? Seger wants to know if the ruling creates an immediate vacancy for Richardson, who now lives outside District 2 under the new state legislature map. Seger's attorney, Justin O'Dell, clarified that the petition is a request for clarification, not an appeal. The ruling has also led to uncertainty about whether Richardson and Commissioner Monique Sheffield will complete their terms or face an extended term until a special election. Cobb County Elections Director Tate Fall will present a new election schedule to the Board of Elections on August 12. This week, we eat foot-long sandwiches from a chain that must not be named before we discuss Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Are Skynet's Terminators precise killing machines or are they bad at their jobs? With tons of action and some mixed moments of not-so-good voiceover, we can say that Robert Patrick as the overpowered T-1000 makes this film stand out from the original and anything that's come after in the franchise. It's too bad his prototype character never returns in the sequels. Hasta la vista, baby!
The Summer of Action continues, and it feels like a steel mill outside. Hot enough to melt a liquid nitrogen-frozen T-1000! Oh, yeah, and it's also 40th anniversary of the first movie in this series. So, chill out, dic...oh, wait! I mean, chill out and relax while we discuss some James Cameron cyborg stuff.Overshadowed by its sequel, is there any reason to watch the original movie in this series? The Common Craig argues its merit as a slasher-style horror film with a science fiction coat of paint. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as a seemingly unstoppable cyborg from the future, sent to the past to wipe out any Sarah Conner that gets in its sights. Grab your phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range, and join us for a 40th anniversary celebration of The Terminator (1984)!And then from there, with reportedly a nearly $100 million budget increase, can James Cameron deliver on the promise of a sequel to match the intensity of the original? Or will it be all Hollywood polish and little substance? Get ready to up the ante, with dueling Terminators, both trying to track down a 10-year-old John Conner, with the future of the human race potentially at stake! Beware of AI, or prepare yourself for Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991)!

In this sequel set eleven years after "The Terminator," young John Connor (Edward Furlong), the key to civilization's victory over a future robot uprising, is the target of the shape-shifting T-1000 (Robert Patrick), a Terminator sent from the future to kill him. Another Terminator, the revamped T-800 (Arnold Schwarzenegger), has been sent back to protect the boy. As John and his mother (Linda Hamilton) go on the run with the T-800, the boy forms an unexpected bond with the robot.

This week, March 17, marks 54 years since the premiere of the groundbreaking film The Boys in the Band. Set in a New York apartment in the 1960s and based on the play by Mort Crowley, it was one of the first major movies to feature majority-queer characters. And to mark that 54th birthday, for this week's Sewers of Paris I wanted to revisit my conversation with someone who knew the world of 60s Greenwich Village very well, playwright Robert Patrick.Robert wandered into the Village as an unsuspecting young gay man in the 1960s. He was only supposed to be there for a day, but he wound up staying for years, witnessing -- and participating in -- one of the most important periods in American theater history. He passed away last year, having written hundreds of plays — as Samuel French called him, “New York's most-produced playwright.”We'll have that conversation in a minute. First, a quick reminder that if you like this podcast, you'll probably enjoy my other projects — like my YouTube videos about movies and TV shows, my weekly livestreams on Twitch, my book Hi Honey, I'm Homo!, and my email newsletter.
