Tuesday, June 16, 2026OG Danielle is back in the studio with Brock, and the show kicks off with a debate over what officially counts as a puppy versus a dog, which somehow turns into Pound Puppies, dog noises, and Danielle's house full of actual puppies. The trending thread of the day asks: What phrase do you hate? Listeners and the crew go after phrases like “chef's kiss,” “I did a thing,” “this wasn't on my bingo card,” “so blessed” as a humblebrag, “unpopular opinion,” “my journey,” “that's my truth,” “I don't know who needs to hear this,” “normalize,” “it's giving,” and basically anything that sounds like it came from an influencer caption. The show also gets into plenty of “What the Heck” moments, including more than 1,000 people dressing as Marilyn Monroe for a world record, a birthday cake shaped like an eight that accidentally looked very inappropriate, a Florida man speeding with 34 empty White Claws in the passenger seat, Hawaii having the most expensive medium cheese pizza, and a fisherman catching a small great white shark off Nantucket.Brock and Danielle take a surprisingly real detour into forgiveness, difficult relationships, texting versus talking in person, and how things can get lost when serious conversations happen over messages instead of face-to-face. They also roll through random facts about NBA Jam making a billion dollars, wolves not actually howling at the moon, lightning striking Earth around 100 times per second, James Naismith having a losing record as Kansas basketball coach, and the Onyx River in Antarctica. The episode also highlights Bentonville Film Fest week, with Danielle sharing events, family programming, free movies at the Momentary, the Crayola Creative Studios competition, Cookie Queens, Geena Davis, and the opening film connected to Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick. Brock and Danielle also talk about downtown Bentonville changes, including the new club-style version of The Meteor, The Barber, and whether Bentonville can really sustain late-night nightlife.Good news includes two Iowa teens rescuing an elderly woman who had been trapped outside for more than 16 hours, Danielle getting ready to print her 12th magazine issue, her family's double doodle puppies needing homes, and finally having a working car again. The show also covers Gen Xers still depending on parents, the great wealth transfer, nursing home vending machines loving Dr. Pepper, Spielberg movie rankings, World Cup talk, Star Wars minutes, kids and table manners, “exhaust-overwhelmulated,” coffee snobbery, expensive whiskey mistakes, Bentoville food talk, celebrity news, summer camps, kids losing electronics until the house is clean, Toy Story 5 making parents hate technology, and college home videos that apparently involved way more nudity than expected. It is a funny, fast-moving, very Brock-and-Danielle episode full of phrases we all secretly hate, local Bentonville talk, family chaos, puppies, coffee, and just enough emotional honesty to keep things interesting.

"Carolina Caroline" is a 2025 American romantic crime thriller film directed by Adam Carter Rehmeier and written by William Thomas Dean IV, starring Samara Weaving, Kyle Gallner, Jon Gries, and Kyra Sedgwick. The film follows A young woman who joins a charming con man on the run, leaving a trail of crime and passion as they hustle through the Southeast in search of her estranged mother. It had its world premiere in the Centerpiece program of the 2025 Toronto International Film Festival, where it received positive reviews for its chemistry between its two leads, Rehmeier's look at the American deep South, and its fusion of the romance and crime genres, creating a "Bonnie and Clyde" story for a new era. Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick join The Rolling Stone Studio Live at SXSW alongside their kids, Sosie Bacon and Travis Bacon, to talk about turning their real-life family into the stars of Family Movie, a meta horror comedy about a family making a low-budget horror film. In conversation with David Fear, the Bacon clan unpacks the chaos and chemistry of collaborating across generations, why horror remains such a durable crowd-pleaser, and how the film became one of SXSW's buzziest premieres. They also get candid about the surreal moments that come with mixing family and filmmaking – including what happens when your parents have to fake intimacy on camera. I spoke with Steven Fechter about his newest novel -- "The Big Breeze" -- the story of Joseph Bye a phenom baseball pitcher who at the peak of his career was hit by a car and crippled. Eventually, he became a painter of baseball pitchers. Many years after the accident, he learned that he was run-over intentionally. In part this is the story of what Breeze will he do about it. But I did not want to ask Mr. Fechter about attempted murder but about baseball -- and an American culture obsessed with its heroes. “The Big Breeze” is a primer on the mind and spirit of the baseball pitcher – and how fame is treated in this country.Mr. Fechter also wrote the play «The Woodsman» which he adapted for the film starring Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick.Fechter's reputation was established when he won first prize in the 2001 Slamdance Screenwriting Competition for “The Woodsman.”His website states his goal is to “write daring stories that take audiences into unfamiliar emotional spaces.” Recorded at 5Napkins Burger on Broadway and W. 84th Street in Manhattan.Alan Winsonbarcrawlradio@gmail.com Hosted on Acast. You're about to learn a whole lot more about Kevin Bacon. The prolific actor has been on our screens for more than 40 years. It was his breakthrough part as Ren in Footloose that got him attention, but he was just getting started. Acclaimed roles in Apollo 13, A Few Good Men, The River Wild, and Mystic River would follow. In fact his filmography and range is so broad he literally had a game made up about him – Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon – where you could connect any Hollywood actor to him in six or less steps, he's worked with that many stars. But bubbling away in the background, Kevin has always loved music. He played and wrote songs as a kid, joined his brother's band and formed The Bacon Brothers in '95, and shares his love of songs on the regular, across his social media. It was this thread I wanted to pull at, when I asked him to Take 5. But what emerged was a greater sense of the man himself. Deeply empathetic, very grounded, and with his heart in all the right places.Kevin Bacon's song choices:Earth, Wind & Fire – 'Happy Feelin'Spin Doctors – 'Little Miss Can't Be Wrong'John Prine & Iris DeMent – 'In Spite of Ourselves'Frank Ocean – 'Thinkin Bout You'Brandi Carlile – 'The Joke'00:00 Introduction to Kevin Bacon's Musical Journey01:00 Kevin Bacon's Love for Music02:19 Kevin Bacon's Acting and Music Synergy04:11 SONG 1: Earth, Wind & Fire – 'Happy Feelin'05:59 The Influence of Philadelphia's Music Scene09:59 Kevin Bacon's Acting Aspirations and Early Career14:38 SONG 2: Spin Doctors – 'Little Miss Can't Be Wrong'18:02 The Bacon Brothers and Overcoming Stage Fright22:53 SONG 3: John Prine & Iris DeMent – 'In Spite of Ourselves'23:28 Marriage to Kyra Sedgwick and singing together30:32 SONG 4: Frank Ocean – 'Thinkin Bout You'35:21 Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon and Philanthropy39:51 SONG 5: Brandi Carlile – 'The Joke'44:28 Kevin Bacon's Musical Journey45:57 Upcoming Episodes and Podcast Details46:29 Double J Radio HighlightsWatch Take 5 on ABC iview:https://iview.abc.net.au/show/take-5-with-zan-rowe

What do you get when a Shabbat dinner meant to welcome a soon-to-be daughter-in-law turns into a night of secrets, revelations, and unlikely wisdom? You get Bad Shabbos—a comedy with heart, directed by Daniel Robbins and co-written with Zack Weiner.Robbins joins Rabbi Yoshi to discuss his new film set on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where a Jewish family hosts Shabbat dinner for their son David and his fiancée Meg, who is preparing to convert to Judaism. As the night unfolds, tensions rise, surprises surface, and laughter and love do battle at the dinner table. At the emotional center of the film is Meg, whose D'var Torah—something she's been studying with her rabbi as part of her conversion process—is delivered during the meal as a reflection on that week's Torah portion. Her words, full of insight and heart, speak to the serendipitous nature of life and the power of choosing one's path with intention and faith. With a standout ensemble cast including Kyra Sedgwick, Milana Vayntrub, David Paymer, and Method Man as the family's beloved doorman who is practically family, Bad Shabbos is as funny as it is touching.

Comedy has to be natural....On this episode we mine some awkward but genuine laughs out of a situation that we can all relate to. It's time for 'Bad Shabbos'.There's an understated level of comedic procesion in 'Bad Shabbos' that is hard to ignore as the comedy always feels earned and genuine with the likes of David Paymer, Kyra Sedgwick and believe it or not Method Man stealing the entire show. It's not a telegraphed or overt funny, it's a smart and honest kind fun which feels like it is pulled directly from the veins of the New York comedy gods that came before this story. We had the pleasure of sitting down with co-writer/director Daniel Robbins to talk about the origins of the story, why comedy seems to be working for him at this stage of his career and why it's always harder then people think it is.'Bad Shabbos' is in select theatres now.

They first crossed paths in 1978 when Kyra Sedgwick was 12 and Kevin Bacon 19, though he doesn't remember it! The pre-teen complimented the young actor after seeing Kevin perform in an Off-Broadway play. Ten years later the two were married, and they've remained happily so for 36 years. Just ask the goats they occasionally serenade when posting Instagram videos from their Connecticut farm. In this fun Valentine's week episode, we share the love story of Hollywood couple Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, including a few highlights from their individual lives and careers. How did Kevin convince Kyra, his somewhat reluctant movie costar, to go on a first date with him? When Kyra was hesitant to do “The Closer,” how did Kevin help make it possible for Kyra to accept what would turn out to be her most acclaimed role? What devastating personal crisis did the Bacons experience in 2008? And in which projects have the couple collaborated not only with each other but also occasionally with one or both of their children? We discuss all this and more in this uplifting episode that will leave you feeling “Footloose” and fancy-free!
