Tread Perilously's Summer Patreon request month leads to very British superpowers with Misfits Season 2, Episode 2. Simon's day of annoying the others is interrupted when his half-brother, Jamie, arrives to introduce himself for the first time. The two start to bond down the pub, but when Jamie's car is stolen, he reveals their father was bound and gagged in the boot. Meanwhile, the others get closer to discovering the masked man who has been following them. It all leads to a rave where Simon and Jamie decide which of them gets to pull the bartender they met earlier who happens to have ice powers. Will it lead to tragedy? Erik and Justin immediately fuss over the presence of Robert Sheehan -- who may have been playing Klaus from The Umbrella Academy for a very long time. Justin figures out where the series is meant to take place. Erik finds all the Britishisms he can recall. He also confuses the X-Man called Skin with another Mutant. The definition of "chav" comes up. The 2028 Los Angeles Olympics lead to some advance planning. Erik can't help but call Iwan Rheon "Ramsey Bolton." A special guest star distracts Justin. He is also surprised to see Dexter Fletcher, and Ruth Negga makes an unexpected appearance.

Francis Turretin of Geneva, if he is known at all, is often thought of as a Protestant 'scholastic', where this is shorthand for an ivory tower theologian given to excessive hair-splitting. Such a caricature, however, does not do justice to the man himself. An earnest preacher, and a devoted disciple, Turretin placed his scholarship at the service of the church. While he was a thorough and careful theologian, Turretin sought to go only as far, and no further, than the Scripture warranted, and to do his theology in a spirit of charity. Tune in as this show kicks off a new theme month for all of May: the Rebecca Hall of Fame! For this first podcast of the month to honor one of Arthur's all-time favorite actors, Joe Lipsett (Horror Queers, Hazel & Katniss & Harry & Starr) is returning to the guest chair for a breakdown of Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1974, the 2009 period crime drama-thriller that stands as the first film entry in a limited series made for British television called the Red Riding Trilogy. The bleak and nihilistic territory that this series boldly treads into, the surprising amount of homoerotic undertones in 1974, and some gripes with a divisive little filmmaker known as Zack Snyder comprise just a few of the talking points for this episode. Directed by Julian Jarrold, Red Riding: The Year of Our Lord 1974 stars Andrew Garfield, Rebecca Hall, Sean Bean, Warren Clarke, John Henshaw, Anthony Flanagan, Robert Sheehan, Eddie Marsan, Sean Harris, Tony Mooney, Steven Robertson, Cathryn Bradshaw, David Morrissey, Michelle Dockery, Daniel Mays, Peter Mullan, and Mary Jo Randle. Tread Perilously wraps up Halloween month with its annual visit to Supernatural. This year's episode: " It's the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester." When a loving family man is killed via mysterious razor blades hidden in a piece of candy, Sam and Dean follow up and discover a witch's hex bag as the root cause. Suspects immediately become apparent via the family babysitter and her skeevy art teacher. But when Castiel (finally) and Uriel (Robert Wisdom!) arrive, it becomes clear the Halloween hex is related to the seals and the angels' mission from Heaven. Will they eradicate the town to stop Samhain from rising or is there more to their orders? Erik is happy to see Castiel appear in an episode. Justin outlines his problems with later seasons of Supernatural. The pair also finally confront the show's myth-arc and debate the pronunciation of "Samhain." History Corner crosses the Rubicon and Andor gets a mention or two. The team also discusses Halloween Ends and any number of other horror movies. They also attempt to work out if Damien Thorn would've had a different life with another name. Justin tries to find more roles for Robert Sheehan. The connection between Mexicans and the Irish is reaffirmed and a surprise comic book writer discussion breaks out.

In this podcast we have Robert Sheehan, CEO of CMHA. Bob, tell us more about this poll. It comes at a critical time as communities across Michigan face a growing need for mental health support. Governor Whitmer also prioritized mental health funding in her State of the State address this past January, proposing $361 million to open school-based clinics and fund mental health professionals inside schools, and increase access to mental health screenings. And then we went into what we thought would be a quick word about the state of IDW's Transformers and went into this epic rant about what's going to happen. We go from what we know to what we don't know to sheer guesswork from what we've read in the comment threads of random blogs. Seriously, if you want to see the exact opposite of investigative journalism, listen in. UPDATE ON THE WHOLE IDW TRANSFORMERS THING (Because we recorded Monday night and now we have more info): Transformers will remain at IDW, but the whole storyline is definitely being rebooted. And we've had word that James Roberts will be working on the reboot launch, but will possibly leave Transformers after the first few issues. And we still (at time this episode posts) don't know WHY the relaunch is happening, not officially. Lots of speculation though. Stay tuned for more details. The outro music this week is a clip from Nocturnia by Psychadelik Pedestrian. http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Psychadelik_Pedestrian/Nocturnia/05_-_Psychadelik_Pedestrian_-_Nocturnia Correction the first: we realized this in the recording, but just for the record, Elizabeth knows that Tom Hardy is going to be Venom, not Hellboy. Well, she knows that NOW. Correction the second: the name of the actor who plays the main character in the upcoming Bad Samaritan is Robert Sheehan. Sorry, Robert, we got distracted by David Tennant. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3203528/
