After nearly nine years of Kill By Kill, we sometimes ask ourselves why we still do it. The fame? The fortune? Perhaps it's to find those beautiful, forgotten slasher gems of the 1980s? After this episode, the answer to all three questions is, “Not this week!” That's right, we're scraping the bottom of the low budget horror barrel as we take an extended peek at 1988's HIDE AND GO SHRIEK with the help of two Returning Champions, from Inside the Idiot Box podcast, it's Dennis Satterfield and Scot Burklin!! Sure, this movie isn't that great, but it's filled with elements we needed to discuss at length: illogical mannequins, perplexing bedroom decor, mystifying haircut reveals, sex in public sheets, and the most egregious electric wok cooking-utensil use ever caught on film!! All this, plus fedora creeps, one Frankenstein General Hospital, wigwam socks, a weeping George Lucas, Penguin Lust, jorts-based burlesque, a collection of the most baffling acting performances we've seen in a while, and of course, we shop for our demise during Choose Your Own Deathventure!! CW: The film sadly dips into a weird homophobic reveal at the end that we did not enjoy. Despite that, this conversation is hilarious and far more thoughtful than this cheap, tawdry, slasher flick that we rip to threads for nearly two hours. Please to enjoy!! There are not enough haunted attractions. There are haunts set up all over the country during October. And most cities have some type of ghost tour, but there are very few year round places that are devoted to horror. Blumhouse is doing something to fill that void. But can the studio responsible for The Exorcist: Believer and Truth or Dare really give horror audiences what they want? There are so many zombie movies to choose from that even the good ones tend to be forgotten. 28 Days Later is one of the strongest entries in the genre and its sequel is not too bad. For years there has been talk of a third entry. We talk about the latest news concerning the movie and whether we want to see it. There have been occasional resurgences, but teen slashers saw their greatest output during the 80s. The genre became so popular that it was even able to break into the mainstream. The decade also saw a number of knock offs that ended up becoming cult classics and fan favorites. Maybe we are too old for Departing Seniors. A familiar premise with a modern perspective, the film had us wondering what today's youth are really like. We are not sure if all of today's high school students are pieces of crap or if it is just a case of poor writing? Where do you draw the line between bravery and cowardice? One thing is for certain, the 2024 film is a great entry point for younger audiences looking to try out teen slashers. It does not have the cringier elements found in older movies while dealing with topical issues. It is also well acted and has a fun little story. There are some flaws along the way, but it is definitely worth checking out. If you ever wanted to see what would happen when Karate Kid III and Saved by the Bell met, then this is the show for you. This week, we continue our November grab bag by spending the night in a furniture store with the 1988 slasher Hide and Go Shriek. Super cheap and rough around the edges, we may have stumbled onto a real gem here. Well students, we had to do a re-record. The original audio for this episode is lost forever in computer-space land or something. It didn't record properly so we had to do it again. Which is great for you because you got 2 fresh-faced, bushy-tailed professors to talk about this movie. Our story centers around a group of 8 high school graduates who have snuck into a furniture store for the night to drink and party. But there's a killer on the loose in the store picking them off one by one. Tune in to hear us breakdown this cinematic masterpiece. Chris & Kelsey celebrate their graduation by spending the night in a furniture warehouse with a killer! SHOCKING FINAL ACT TWIST: They killed another kid when they were eight! The Classic Film: Hide and Go Shriek (1988) "A group of teenagers spend the night in a furniture store for a graduation party. A psycho killer starts hunting them down one by one” (IMDb.com). An otherwise straightforward 80s slasher with some fun variations, Hide and Go Shriek's sketchy social mores are really where it lets you down. The Modern Film: Dead in 3 Days [In 3 Tagen bist du tot] (2006) "A peaceful mountain lake community is terrorized when a close-knit group of friends becomes the target of a mysterious deranged killer” (Vudu.com). The filmmakers here knew how to make a movie and knew what elements horror movies had, but they really didn't know how to put them all together, leaving the audience generally bored in spite of everything going on. Apparently in the 80s the only good place for teenagers to get laid was in closed department stores after hours. We take a look at two films that takes advantage of that and sends some slashers in to keep the kids company. First up we look at some blocked memories in The Initiation. After that we play some games in Hide And Go Shriek. Also we chat about Star Wars, Freddy's Nightmares, and Friday The 13th.

They’re a bunch of fabulous friends who survived high school… for now. This week we’re talking about Skip Schoolnik’s 1988 slasher HIDE AND GO SHRIEK starring Bunky Jones, Donna Baltron, Brittain Frye, Annette Sinclair & Sean Kanan. Eight freshly graduated teens spend the night at one of their father’s furniture store and are stalked by a killer who is anything but a Laz-E-Boy. The fashions are outrageous, the hair is huge and the lighting is dark but we love this one! We discuss the criticisms that the movie is homophobic and give our opinions and then Christopher talks about his admiration of Bunky Jones and her hair, the lack of information about her lead him to find out about her passing in October 2015.
We're back and continuing our trip through Slasher Summer, this time we're joined by Dave Zee from Exploding Heads Horror Podcast! Hey Moongoons, thanks for downloading and listening to this episode! This week we're playing a little game of Hide and Go Seek with the 80's slasher "Hide and Go Shriek". We're trying tot hide from the crappy-ness of this film while trying to seek out any redeeming qualities.
This time around we delve into 1987's HIDE AND GO SHRIEK and 1981's legendary slasher THE PROWLER. As always, we also bullshit about any bands we've been jamming and random movies we've been watching. Tune in and drink up.
Teenagers break into a furniture store for a night of sexy hijinks only to have their fun undone by a killer with a penchant for costume changes. To help me tackle this lesser known slasher and its possible themes of both homophobia and transphobia, I'm joined once again by ALLISON NOWACKI and BRYAN J. POLK.
It is June 10th Zacks birthday but it is also the birthday of Pete the ghost that loves to play Hide and go Seek if he catches you. He will live in your body for one year. I hope you love running because Zack, Ember, and Meg don't!
