Hello Horror Heads! We have finally discovered the best worst movie ever made. It's Doom Asylum and so insanely stupid it's beautiful. Enjoy!
In the third entry of MAD WORLD – DOOM ASYLUM – Dr. Bava would like to pick your brain a little bit.
This week we decided to just watch a random movie, Doom Asylum, 1987. The story follows the killings of "The Coroner" a lawyer who died years earlier, yup that's some of the plot. Now teens have to show up and get killed off because one of their mom's died with the lawyer aka "The Coroner." Now call the lawyer, because this movie will knock over dead, and you'll need a coroner. This movie also stars Kristin Davis, Sex in The City, and we didn't mention her at all. Michaela figures the best place to take her friends sunbathing is outside the Doom Asylum (1996), an abandoned hospital stalked by an alimony lawyer-turned-monster who slices and dices his way to the Frankenhooker herself, Penthouse Pet Patty Mullen. Acomi and Turk182 yawn their way through a horror - "comedy" that's more ridiculously stupid than Night Killer (1980) - Doom Asylum (1988). Devoid of everything that makes a movie... a movie, Doom Asylum is without interesting characters, a plot a budget, capable actors, the element or horror, or jokes. Also starring, Kristin Davis, in her film debut. Somehow surviving the car accident that killed his fiancée, a disfigured man lives in the basement(?) of the asylum(?) where his autopsy was being performed and kills anyone who enters. Ten years later, the asylum maniac goes after a female punk band and a motley group of high school/college students one of whom happens to be the daughter of his dead fiancée. More boring than watching pasta boil or doing dictation for a coma patient. Doom Asylum fails at everything it tries to be; especially entertaining. Shot on location at an actual abandoned asylum, that they made less creepy with the serial-killer-70s-cult-like graffiti spray painted on the walls. Groan along with Acomi and Turk as they struggle to make better jokes than the movie itself. Acomi and Turk182, along the occasional special guest, provide running commentary of awfulsome movie and TV shows. The hosts select movies that either one, or both, have never seen. All jokes and comments are improvised. NO PREPARED JOKES OR COMMENTS! During recording, the movies are watched at a low volume and with the subtitles on. Viewers may want to turn subtitles on as well to enhance the viewing experience. So, cue up the audio, ready the movie, and hit play when we say so. Note: This video is the commentary recorded by Acomi and Turk182, and selected screenshots. It is NOT a viewable copy of the film. The commentary can be enjoyed on its own, but if you want to experience the Let's Watch in all its glory, you'll need your own copy of the movie. Most of the movies viewed can be streamed online for free. #OMTWF #KorovaEntertainment #LetsWatch #LW #Acomi #Turk182 #awfulsome #DoomAsylum #KristinDavis #Isnoozedyoulosed Follow Acomi on Twitter at @AcomiDraws and on Instagram at AcomiDraws. This week on an all new The Horror Times pod, the creeps head to an abandoned insane asylum to catch their favorite song-less girl band and review one of the strangest slashers of all time,1987's Doom Asylum.
This week we're talking to very funny 1987 horror-comedy DOOM ASYLUM! Although criminally short, this movie is fantastic! When Kiki and friends venture out for a picnic at the asylum near the site her mother was killed in a car crash, they come face-to-face with her disfigured lawyer boyfriend Mitch! Directed by Richard Friedman, it stars Patty Mullen, a young Kristin Davis, Ruth Collins, Farin and Harrison White as our would-be victims. There's commentary on social issues and the genre as a whole, everybody seems like they're having a great time and its a very fun watch! It's not a delusion, it's a psychopath!!!
Grab a can of spray paint, maniacs, because this week we're digging into a weird cult movie: 1988's Doom Asylum! While we discuss the acting debut of Sex And The City's Kristin Davis, we also talk about subjects such as easily avoidable car accidents, bad one-liners, and we work on our James Hetfield impressions.
What happens when a lawyer and the love of his life get in a horrible car accident, she passes away, but he gets mistakenly partially autopsied, only to wake up, murder the medical examiners, and take up residence in an abandoned asylum for 10 years killing anyone who crosses his path? Well, that's the plot of this week's movie; Doom Asylum. Nick and Andy were a little at odds with the quality of this one. Take a listen, or watch the movie and judge for yourself. AhhhHaaaHaaaHaaa! Ep.216 "Doom Asylum" is now up. This listener suggested 80's slasher features super annoying poorly written characters, a crazy blonde punk girl who has serious emotional issues, and a not so dead one liner slinging lawyer turned killer all in an abandoned asylum that some how still has power and cable.
For this week's installment in Femme Fatale February, imagine this: you waddled into some video store and you need to pick a movie. You want to pick something empowering to womyn, because you aren't no scrub (also known as a "busta"). In this scenario, the alphabet is different and you see two options side by side, Teeth and Frankenhooker. Which do you choose? Teeth was written and directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein. It features Jess Weixler as Dawn O'Keefe, who just happens to have a Gilgamek vagina from South Park... y'know, lined with teeth. Weixler recently wrote and starred in Fully Realized Humans. Please see it and report back, because it seems to be a really interesting character study. Rather than ending up in Charles Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, this poor girl just goes to Jesus parties and talks about abstinence. We didn't talk about this on the show, but I am dying to know what you think her X-Man-- X-Woman? Aha! X-Person name would be. Let us know at slasherspod@gmail.com. Best submissions will get read on next week's episode. She is repeatedly victimized by the men in her life, though refreshingly not the one guy you would expect if you've ever seen a horror movie before. The main antagonist in the film is John Hensley as Brad. You may recall he was in Nip/ Tuck. Remember when that show was kinda like a thriller and then it just became gross and sad? Anyway, his mutation is being (and not having) a massive dick-- which you get to see onscreen! ...albeit mangled and bleeding. The other choice is Frankenhooker. I know, you are probably rolling your eyes, but let's have a candid discussion about it. This film was "written" by Bob Martin and Frank Henenlotter. I say "written," because Henenlotter has basically admitted that this movie had very little in terms of a script, yet somehow it provides pretty timeless social commentary and has structural elements like callbacks. You may know Henenlotter from the Basket Case trilogy. He is also a renowned cinema historian. If you are a fan of this show, please consider checking him out. He has some great interviews and can talk everything from pulp exploitation films to b-movie creature features. Frankenhooker stars James Lorinz as Jeffrey Franken. He is an electroengineer, blessed and cursed with brilliance, and seemingly doused in rotten luck. His fiancee, played by Patty Mullen, is Elizabeth Shelley/ the TITular Frankenhooker (see what I did there?). Sadly, her onscreen career was very short, with her only other film being Doom Asylum. She was a Penthouse playmate of the month and year though, so that's cool. When tragedy befalls Elizabeth, Jeffrey exploits working women, trying to harvest their parts to reconstruct the love of his life. Truly, a romantic masterpiece. Which is better? Which is more fun to watch? Which is more empowering to women? Which should you rent in this scenario? Listen, and find out! The box art for DEMON WIND (1990) is iconic. We have fond memories of admiring it in the video stores of our youth. But is the movie any good? We wanted to choose a less obvious title for right before Halloween, and we wanted something sort of corny, like HELLGATE or DOOM ASYLUM. Did we choose correctly, or will we regret this film for the rest of our lives? Also, Ed says a lot of insane stuff on the podcast lately-- how does this impact his dating life? Strap in for another classic episode about a less than classic film.
Featuring a murderous lawyer masquerading as a murderous coroner, an actress from Sex in the City, and a machine whose sole purpose is to make people into spam-cubes, Doom Asylum truly is the Citizen Kane of abandoned New Jersey slasher flicks. When Kiki and her friends go to the local abandoned asylum adjacent to the site of her mother's grisly death, the lawyer-cum-coroner kills them off one by one to impress Kiki, but only because he thinks she's her mother Judy. Why any of this would impress her is unclear. But hey, it's got punks and gore, and probably a serious black mold problem, so -- win/win? Put on your favorite Tina and the Tots record, wet down your baseball card collection and stick your face into the vat of caustic acid that is 1988's Doom Asylum.

A horribly disfigured lawyer, wrongfully pronounced dead after a terrible car accident, is taken to an asylum for dissection, only to come back alive, kill everyone, and make the asylum his killing grounds.
This straight to video weirdness is a gory good time. If you can hack the shitty acting, shitty laughter and groovy gore, its actually a decent movie. Guest hosted by our buddy Jeff from the Fistful of Action podcast, we dive into this schlocky little flick. So Gore Heads, if you haven't seen it, grab it, watch it, then enjoy our review. Oh and don't forget to check our friends at Radio Nasties Podcast episode 10 to see what they think as well. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/extremehorrorreplay/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/extremehorrorreplay/support

In this episode of Radio Nasties, Richard introduces Vic and special guest Charlotte, to Doom Asylum, a 1987 slasher comedy from Richard Friedman (Scared Stiff) staring Patty Mullen (Frankenhooker) Doom Asylum is about a wise cracking killer who roams an abandoned asylum, we also get a load of clips from old black and white movies for some reason. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Join Joe and Laura as they delve into all things Doom Asylum, this movie has the lot, great kills, great teens and maybe, just maybe a bit of T&A. If that's not your thing then sit back and relax as Laura chats about what happens in the UK when there is even the slightest bit of sunshine and Joe rants and raves about artistic endeavour in tv and how much he would charge to appear nude.
Mash time! On this episode we cover Doom Asylum (1988), Ghost Story (1981), Lovely Molly (2011) and Hereditary (2018). Available now on iTunes, podbean, mixcloud and our blog. We hope you enjoy!
Goldstone v He's Out There on the roulette, our top ten alien invasion movies, and we chat The Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle, The Nun, The Vatican Tapes, MST3K: Time of the Apes, MST3K: Cry Wilderness, MST3K: Fugitive Alien, MST3K: First Spaceship on Venus, There's Nothing Out There, Doom Asylum, Bloody New Year, Deep Star 6, and much more!
The kidnappers stopped supplying cigarettes and sugar to a kidnapped Phoenix West. To make it worse they forced him into watching Robo Vampire from 1988. A Robocop ripoff made in Hong Kong featuring vampires that hop like bunnies and are fueled by heroin or something? It was confusing. He also watched 1988's Doom Asylum which was about a killer stalking "teenagers" in an abanonded asylum that they are all at for no reason. Which is worse?
Part slasher. Part comedy. Slasher didn't work. Comedy sure as shit didn't work. What worked was...the runtime. It was fairly short. Behold as porn centerfold ladies try to avoid getting viciously murdered by a meat-faced psycho in an asylum that they're all at for absolutely no reason.
Always watch a movie before you spend $25 on the bluray cause sometimes that movie sorta sucks....Like "Doom Asylum" from 1987. Staring Patty Mullen( FrankenHooker) and Kristin Davis(Sex in the City). When Mitch Hansen gets in a car crash and doesn't die...he holds up in an old asylum waiting for dumb teens to kill. This movie is a trip....to a dumpster but we watched it so you don't have to!! enjoy!!! --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/itcamefrom-thevideostore/support
In this episode we discuss the Arrow Video All Nighter, in the Prince Charles Cinema back in August (it's late, we know!). The films we discuss are - Demons, Doom Asylum, Nightmare City, Satan's Blade and Edge of the Axe.
Well it's back to a solo episode for DOOM ASYLUM. Where to begin? It's a lot like HELLGATE and THE MUTILATOR except much worse yet still-- kind of lovable? When a group of teens (including a young Kristin Davis and FRANKENHOOKER star Patty Mullen!) visit an abandoned asylum in New Jersey, they find themselves getting picked off one by one by a deranged lawyer turned mortician named Mitch. Who will survive?! Will we?! Will anyone rate and review the podcast?! Theme song by Matt Akers! Check out his bandcamp. We'll be back on Sept 15 with a guest for WE ARE THE FLESH.
Oh boy, are you ever in for an insane episode this week. Well, okay…not really. But if we’re getting locked up in a “doom asylum”, shouldn’t it be fitting to be insane? Deranged? A lurker? Ahh, that’s the one. And welcome back Lurkers to this week’s bone tingling episode of WHAT LURKS BEHIND PODCAST ZERO. … Continue reading What Lurks Behind… – Episode 24: Doom Asylum (1987)

Jeff Goldblum's Massive Tricycle So there's this hotel over in California where you can check out any time you like, but you can never leave - largely because you're still on the member's list. This week Aidan, Graham and Rob are booking into Drew Pearce's "Hotel Artemis" - which is an uncommon original screenplay in a summer of sequels, but does it live up to its extraordinary guest list? Oh, and if you're thinking "Hang on, Hotel Artemis wasn't the big release of last weekend", then don't worry because Mark has you covered since he went to see "Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again!", specifically for the … erm … distinctive performance of Pierce Brosnan. After that there are troubling discoveries in Off the Shelf, not least of which is Rob learning who Pitbull is via the medium of Aidan's review of "Gotti". After that we have an Arrow Video round-up, with Rob taking on '80s slasher "Doom Asylum" before Graham takes a quick look over Tale of Cinema & Woman is the Future of Man: Two Films by Hong Sang-soo, and Troy Duffy's divisive cult item "The Boondock Saints".
