Happy Halloween friends! In typical Joe Blow fashion, we are releasing our Halloween episode just in time for Thanksgiving! We finish off this years Joe Blow Oktoberfest with a review of what can only be described as an under-appreciated gem. We recorded this Halloween night so join us around the fire and enjoy some good conversation with some good friends!
As everyone knows, rock and / or roll is the Devil's music, and, as a public service, we here at the WHXN home office watched two movies to really get to grips with the Satanic panic overwhelming our nation's soul. First, we were utterly bewildered and kind of confused by 1988's Hack-O-Lantern. Then, the goofy best friend from Family Ties both messed up his stereo and also summoned a hellbeast by playing his record backwards, just like Tipper Gore always told us he would. It's 1986's Trick or Treat!Email: info@channel-37.comTwitter: @WHXN37
We're taking a trip to the furniture store this week, maniacs! We're checking out the 1988 slasher Hide And Go Shriek. Drop that Caramello and check out our Patreon! This month we're covering the 90s on the bonus episode as well, where we go back for another round of the Back In The Day Blitz, discussing 90s sitcoms and the decade's works of Kevin Smith. For as little as $2 a month you can get in on the action as well with bonus episodes, Discord privileges, livestreams, exclusive merchandise and more! Want more slasher flicks from 1988? Sean finds himself as the anointed one of a cabal of Satanists with Hack-O-Lantern (1988), in which a devil-worshipping uncle tries to arrange a ceremony to reveal his nephew's unholy power. Meanwhile, a devil-masked slasher makes mincemeat of the supporting cast. Listen as we pay tribute to Freak Show fav Gregory Scott Cummins while surviving pirate video legal entanglements, and stop the movie dead for 80s heavy metal and stand up comedians on this week's exciting show! What's up, Rotters! Our mid-season break is coming to an end! To get you in the seasonal spirit before we continue next week with Phantasm, I'm inviting you to the drive-in to catch a matinee of last year's special Halloween episode HACK-O-LANTERN with Sophie Ellis-Bextor. This was such a fun and festive episode to record and so, here it is again. I also update you on what's coming up on both the main feed and Patreon. Toodles! SteviesBrainRot.com
As Listener Submitted Month comes to a close and October begins, we felt compelled to watch something very Halloween-coded. This was perhaps not our best decision, because HACK O LANTERN (1988) is pretty much objectively a terrible movie… While there IS an inexplicable heavy metal music video scene, there is also no murderous jack-o-lantern-faced killer to be seen, so we would've felt a bit ripped off if we hadn't watched it for free on our reliable friend TUBI. Get into the spooky spirit a week early with us and watch out for girls with pentagram tattoos/brands on their buttcheeks! If you like the show, be sure to Rate, Review & Subscribe! We are back with a very special What Did We Just Watch? episode, so special in fact that it is being dubbed episode 666 due to it's pure evilness in nature. Friends and local artists Jamison King and Vickie Smalls jump in on this special episode to discuss the films Hack-O-lantern and Black Circle Boys, both films featuring some form of satan worshiping. Time to get the job done, maniacs! This week we're checking out the obscure Wings Hauser vehicle The Carpenter from 1988. Joining us to discuss the flick is Tomm Jacobsen of Dude Bro Party Massacre III and the recently resurrected 5-Seconds Films. Gregory Scott Cummins is a self-described blue collar actor who has been working in movies and television since the late 1980's. In today's episode we talk about his parent's careers with media mogul Howard Hughes, his youth in Orinda, CA, his sports career, and much more. Greg tells me about his experiences on the sets of the cult classics, Hack-O-Lantern, Dead End City, and Action USA. I finally find out what Hy Pyke was like as a person, and I was not disappointed. Greg also tells me about working with William Smith, Cameron Mitchell, and the legendary Robert Z'Dar. Find out more about Greg here: Official Website IMDB
In this week's episode, we're going back to a WWA-favorite era of the late 1980s with the supernatural/demonic possession film "976-EVIL." Special topics for your consideration include: when your phone's autofill function tries to predict "your thing," an unexpected sessy moment, having your directorial debut and your swan song be the same film (sorry Robert Englund), and a whole ass host of 1980s teen horror tropes: old teens, hot principals, religious moms, kids with insane names, movie punks (or at least punk-adjacent), evil quips, panty thefts & so much more! Or less. It might actually be less. 1988 was a hell of a year for horror movies, and we've seen a lot of them (say what you will about us, but we are certainly thorough). Tease your hair, put on your Guns n Roses tee and settle in for Episode 32- "Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood," Episode 36- "Waxwork," Episode 50- "The Blob," Episode 137- "Monkey Shines," Episode 140- "Killer Klowns from Outer Space," Episode 192- "Night of the Demons," Episode 205- "Hellraiser II," Episode 225- "Beetlejuice," Episode 231- "Child's Play," Episode 265- "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-o-Rama," Episode 283- "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark," Episode 314- "Phantasm 2," Episode 343- "Black Roses," Episode 383- "Hack-O-Lantern," Episode 401- "Halloween 4, and finally" Episode 404- "They Live." Hack-O-Lantern | Haunt - Happy Halloween! We collectively choose a couple of Halloween-themed flicks to celebrate the spookiest of holidays, and roast through Hack-O-Lantern (1988) and the Shudder exclusive, Haunt (2019). Satanic cults and bush. Yes this is an 80s horror movie.
In a movie that basically amounts to every condensed horror trope you can think of: An evil Satanic cult leader spends years trying to convert his grandson into his successor. But while he's working on his recruitment tactics, he's still got to follow his Devil worship. How? Well, it's Halloween and some loon in a monkey mask is going around their small farming town and killing off every horny teen and naked chick in sight, so maybe that has something to do with it? In the meantime, enjoy truck-fulls of pumpkins, a trippy music video, murder by garden implement, a costume party, lots of nudity, and an obscene number of lame puns you're inexplicably forced to listen to. In this week's episode, it's an EMT pick! Thank you so much to listener Derek who won the contest in our "Firestarter" episode and chose a real doozy of a film-- the 1988 Satanic cult movie "Hack-O-Lantern." Believe me when I say that this movie has it all: heavy metal, boobs, Satanism, a bathroom with carpet in it which is inherently also very evil, horny adult teens, weird stuff at the rec center, boobs, terrible fake guitar playing in the world's saddest jerkoff fantasy, Levi's cords, creepy grandpas, Coors Light, inept police work, barn-based occult rituals, did we mention boobs? There are a ton of them. Halloween is THE BEST. We're back after a brief hiatus. And this time we recorded in front of a live audience! We were so honored to host an episode of SlashU at the Very Famous X-Ray Arcade in Cudahy, Wisconsin. We played the movie for our audience, and afterwards sat down and recorded this episode. It was so much fun and we can't wait to do it again soon. Hack-O-Lantern is an excellent Halloween movie. A kindly old grandfather has been grooming has grandson Tommy for years to be the leader of his Satanic cult. It's Halloween night and Tommy is poised to go through the ritual to "come into his true power." But there's a killer on the loose dressed as one of the cult members, killing anyone who gets close to Tommy or his family. Is it grandpa? Is it Tommy himself? This movie had a little bit of everything; drugs, boobs, violence, and even a metal band music video right in the middle! Treat your ears to the first ever SlashU recorded in front of a live audience. Be sure to follow us on Instagram @SlashU_Podcast. This week on the Bad Taste Video Podcast we watched one of the most Metal Halloween Horror films we could think of with the 1988 underground cult classic "Hack O Lantern". This movie has devil worshipping, weird 80's metal music videos, weird characters and a bunch of cool kills which means its definitely our type of movie! So put on your Halloween mask and turn up that Walkman because this is Bad Taste Video!
ET and Lou join me to discuss this lost halloween horror romp. Never officially released in the USA until 2015, it is starting to gain a following over the last few years. Happy Halloween
This week, join us as we try our best Hy Pyke accents and discuss a true Halloween classic - 1988's Hack`o`Lantern! This is a blast of 80s cheese, nonsense, and Halloween feels. If you've seen it, you know. If you haven't, watch it! Then check out this episode in the run-up to Halloween. On this episode: a lot of atrociously weird acting, a masked killer with an ever-shifting body type, incestuous rape, a DC Lacroix music video/dream sequence, a Satanic closet-shrine, a prominent graveyard setting, pentagram branding, an abundance of gratuitous nudity, soul transference and possibly the worst stand up comedy routine ever featured in a film.
We continue our "The Night Halloween Came Home" theme with the late 80s slasher HACK-O-LANTERN, discussing what the cult in the film is really about, its literal take on the "have sex and die trope", and more!
The best title ever wasted on a movie with virtually no hacking or Jack 'O Lanterns! The power is in the blood. Too bad there wasn't any left for the directing, writing, or acting! Got a suggestion? Email us at houseof1000horrors@gmail.com. We'll get around to it eventually.
Join us for the 80's epic, Hack O Lantern! Part Horror movie! Part pumpkin farming training video! Watch Hy Pyke eat the sets in this wondrous fairy tale of deceit and intrigue! A kindly old grandfather is actually the leader of a murderous satanic cult which sacrifices its victims on Halloween.

Hack was a television show that ran from 2002 to 2004 about a cab driver who solved crimes. Hack-O-Lantern is a 1988 movie involving a grandpa trying to get his grandson, who's also his son, to join a Satanic cult. Same thing. Not a lot of jack-o-lanterns are involved, but this one is absurdly fun and worth a watch. We start out Halloween month with this somewhat obscure gem.Follow us on Twitter at: https://twitter.com/midnightmoviemInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/midnight_movie_madness/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/midnightmoviemWe also now have an email address, MidnightMovieM@gmail.com so drop us a line! This week Actor Gregory S Cummins stopped by to talk about his great three-decade-plus career. Greg told me how sports were his way to college (he is one the best punters in the history of Hawaii University Football ). We covered a lot of great topics from his career like Hack-O-Lantern, Cliffhanger, William Forsythe, Batman Returns, becoming Mac's dad on "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", Amazon Prime's Bosch, and so much more. My favorite part is him dissecting the audition process and how he mastered it. This is a great chat and you will love Greg. After reviewing the film, "My Heart Can't Beat Unless You Tell It To", the boys received an email from the director of the film saying he would love to come on the show, despite some potentially harsh criticisms that were made. Jonathan Cuartas joins the show this week to make nice and correct the boys on how much blood can come out of a human body. He also talks about his working relationship with his brother, his influences, and how beneficial it was to shoot in Utah. In the intro, Randy reports the death of Dick Johnson, Clark has strong feelings on "Let Him Go" and Russell closes it out with a new Halloween go-to "Hack-O-Lantern". We welcome the night. We welcome the master. We welcome terrible horror movies from the 80s! "Hack-O-Lantern" was made in 1988 and was written by a college student who was paid $300.00 for his efforts. An Indian-born fella by the name Jag Mundhra was brought on board to direct but had no real concept of what Halloween was aside from the fact that he knew there was a movie named that and it had made about 50 million at the box office a decade prior to this with roughly the same budget that he now has to work with. Unfortunately, for everyone involved, this is not quite on the same level as the 70s classic. We've got Satan worshippers performing Satanic rituals. Gratuitous nudity galore. An 80s hair metal music video. A really bad stand-up comedy set outta nowhere. Pitchfork deaths. A confusing and nonsensical plot. Possible incestual going-ons. And some pretty decent gore. Everything that makes a terrible horror movie worth watching! So join us as we share our review of this Halloween treat with all of you tricks! A kindly old grandfather is actually the leader of a murderous satanic cult which sacrifices its victims on Halloween.
This lantern is hacked! (I'm trying out catch phrases. You know, for the kids) When the creepy Satanist grandpa known as "grandpa" brings his son/grandson (eew) Michael a pumpkin on Halloween, he also gives him a magic satan coin, redeemable at any coven for powers beyond imagining. He eventually grows up to be a sullen twenty-something living in his mom's basement, lifting weights, worshiping satan, and dating unbelievably attractive, rich ladies. When the time comes for him to be all he can be for satan, people start getting farming implements buried in their heads. But which satan is the satan that's killing everyone? Grab your devil costume, your power (which is in the blood), and drive your truck full of pumpkins into the rec center halloween party that is, Hack-O-Lantern.
These ae the movies I will talk about in this episode. Dead Heat (1988), Dolemite (1975), Don't Torture a Duckling (1972), Doom Asylum (1988), Dreamaniac (1986), Fear No Evil (1981), Full House for the Devil (1968), Ghost House (1988), Gorgasm (1990), Graveyard Disturbance (1987), Hack-O-Lantern (1988), The Hunters of the Golden Cobra (1982), Jack-O (1995), Jesse James meets Frankenstein's Daughter (1966), Lady Terminator (1989), Loony in the Wood (2006) and Tales Of Halloween (2015)
Holy shit and praise Satan, Moongoons! Boy, did we find a rare gem of a a movie this week. Raise your devil horns and sink your pitchforks into the 1988 "Hack-o-Lantern" aka "Halloween Night". This little known film features a Satanic cult, incest, not one but TWO hair metal bands (that may have a record for world's largest hair), terrible acting, the world's worst mother, a porn star, a spontaneous stand up comedy routine and surprisingly decent kills. This hard to find film is definitely worth your time to find and watch.

"The power is the blood!” Let’s spread the love for the Halloween themed cult film Hack O Lantern, starring Hy Pyke! Sure, it’s not the best Halloween movie out there, but you’ve already seen all of those.
Join us this month for a special metal music-minded Halloween episode! We revisit ROCKTOBER BLOOD (1984) and TRICK OR TREAT (1986), before giving HACK-O-LANTERN (1988) a first-time viewing! And, boy, are we glad we did. We also chat up recent movie viewings a bit -- including some theater watches like READY OR NOT and HOBBS & SHAW (which made for a delightful double-feature, by the way). Drinking game: Every time a band is mentioned (fictional or not); every time Johnny sniffles. Look for more goodies at BloodyPopcorn.com. Have questions or comments? Alright, the Halloween season is upon us so for the next two episodes we’ll be looking at some Halloween related horror films to get you into the holiday spirit. We’re rolling right along with our Halloween episodes this week as we talk Jag Mundhra’s 1988 slasher(?) HACK-O-LANTERN! We have a new theme song, Christopher makes Mitch drink his festive beer cocktail the Hexxenweizen, we talk briefly about The Young Cannibals(2019) and then we dive right into the movie. Hack-O-Lantern stars Carla B., Jeff Brown and Gregory Scott Cummins as Vera, Roger & Tommy; a trio of siblings subjected to the torment of their incestuous, cult-leader Grandfather(kind of) played by Hy Pyke and their kooky mother who loves mourning and gardening. There’s also Vera’s friend Beth, Tommy’s girlfriend Nora, a inexplicable stand-up comedian, death by corset, a snake charmer and a stripping saloon girl! IT’S NOT NATURE!!!
We have time for one more Halloween flick! Owen and Skinslip dive into Hack-O-Lantern (1988) & All Hallows Evil: Lord of the Harvest (2012)! HACK-O-LANTERN (1988): A kindly old grandfather is actually the leader of a murderous satanic cult which sacrifices its victims on Halloween. Directed by: Jag Mundhra Written By: Carla Robinson Starring: Hy Pyke, Gregory Scott Cummins, Katina Garner ALL HALLOWS EVIL: LORD OF THE HARVEST (2012): An Evil force is summoned on All Hallows Eve, and now the sleepy town of Hallowed Hill will endure the dark Lords vengeance. Directed by: Ron McLellen Written By: Ron McLellen Starring: Ian Isaksson, Alyssa Lewis, Rusty Smith

Let's get sassy for Satan, maniacs, because this week we're talking about the cult Halloween flick Hack-O-Lantern (aka Halloween Night & Death Mask) from 1988. While doing our best Hye Pyke impressions, we discuss the music of Wishbone, butt tattoos, closet candle fire hazards, and the symbolism of black wreaths.

Just in time for the holidays, I ramble about my visit last October to the 12th Annual Dusk-to-Dawn Horrorthon at the Aero Theatre, where we watched: An American Werewolf in London; Popcorn; The Tingler; Hack-O-Lantern; Shocker; Brainscan; and Death Bed: The Bed that Eats. At this rate, I'll be posting episodes about Christmas movies by Easter. Anyway, enjoy listening to Fuckhead refer to Death Bed writer/director George Barry as "John Barry", even though he had his name written in front of him.Click here for the written version of these ramblings on my blog.
This week, on our day-after-Halloween special, we dive back into the world of Stephen King off the top of the episode as we look at The Dark Tower and circle-back on Gerald's Game. Then, we discuss a number of horror movies that you can watch - even in the hangover of Halloween - and other movies and television shows we have been watching and enjoying this week. Does Casey like Stranger Things Season 2? You will find out!In Film Roulette, Dan watched the feature-debut for director Amber Tamblyn, starring Alia Shawkat and Janet McTeer - an adaptation of the Janet Fitch novel of the same name. Also, speaking of circling-back, Casey got to check out IT - which Greg and Dan previously reviewed - and he weighs in. Finally, Greg saw the low-budget American horror film HACK-O-LANTERN - directed by Indian-born Jag Mundhra - of Open House and Night Eyes. How many strippers appear in this movie randomly? Will there be multiple music-video diversions? And will somebody please get their head cut off by a pitchfork??!! Greg will let you know. All of this, plus a punishment album review, and much more. It's the third episode of Blood on the Tracks, and this episode comes as a result of a poll Lee ran on the TMBDOS! Facebook page. The people voted for Heavy Metal Horror, so Lee went down a much deeper rabbit hole than he initially expected. Most of these tracks come from films that do feature heavy metal as part of the plot, but in some cases it's just films that are well-known for their metal soundtracks/scores. So make a devil sign; tell Gene Simmons to fuck off, because he doesn't own the rights to it; and come bang your head with Lee for an hour. Note: Lee mentions that the film "Demons" (1985) contained a score from Claudio Simonetti using the Goblin name. This is an error: Simonetti is credited as himself for his work on that film. Playlist: --Stand Up from "Trick or Treat" (1986) -- Fastway--We Go Rocking from "Blood Tracks" (1985) -- Easy Action--Who Made Who from "Maximum Overdrive" (1986) -- AC/DC--Devil's Son from "Hack-O-Lantern" (1988) -- D.C. This week on the show, join your hosts Rob Galluzzo, Elric Kane and Rebekah McKendry as they discuss horror TV anthology shows! But first, the latest horrors! Bekah checked out THE UNHOLY, ALL THE COLORS OF THE DARK and Severin Films new Blu-Ray of DARK WATERS. Elric tells us about JULIE DARLING, ZEDER (aka REVENGE OF THE DEAD) and HACK-O-LANTERN. Both Elric and Rob report back from the live show SLASHED! THE MUSICAL. And Rob was in full MUMMY mode having revisited the entire original 30's and 40's franchise. Then the gang welcome on special guest Desmond Dolly, the co-creator and co-writer of the new Hulu original anthology series DIMENSION 404! We talk about the origins of that show, and then discuss at length other great horror tv anthology shows, naming our favorite episodes of TALES FROM THE CRYPT, TWILIGHT ZONE, AMAZING STORIES, TALES FROM THE DARKSIDE, FREDDY'S NIGHTMARES and much, much more. Kick back, relax and join the conversation!
Movie Meltdown - Episode 373 This episode we discuss The Rules of the Game the 1939 French film directed by Jean Renoir. According to many, including The Criterion Collection, it's considered one of the greatest films ever made. So The Meltdown Gang decides to watch it and see if it lives up to it's hype and reputation. And while we admit that the awful thing about life is... everyone has their reasons, we also come to new realizations about... Brian De Palma, is this a parody of the genre or is it just that bad, experimental theater, Hack-O-Lantern, pouty, the 80's porn scene, Hi, Mom!, The Forbidden Room, Tolstoy, it feels like you're apologizing for reading, Chuck E. Cheese, mimicking farce, a lot of it is successfully bleak, that was the eleventh herb and spice, Pre-Columbian art, Akira Kurosawa's Ran, Howard Dean meets Charles Laughton, Friends with Benefits, more movies in the VHS world, well it seemed like the floor was very slippery, Dinner at Eight, Robert De Niro, Wake in Fright, a square married guy, maybe... it wasn't popular because it's kind of about what... popular audience are... and that's just not that flattering, it's the closest thing I've ever seen to watching a dream, not romatizing the working people, John Wayne meets Mister Rogers and Liberace, Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer, she's not into her marriage, he said he could feel the audience hating it... that's my favorite thing, popular audiences aren't really looking for the mirror held up to nature, even for something to be a comedy there has to be a certain fantastic element to it, Idiocracy, it's like... this is the lives of the rich people, oh by the way they're exactly like the lives of the poor people. Oh by the way, they're also just totally empty, mimicking movies that haven't been made yet, I always like to mention my favorite Inuit action picture, that Gomez grin, growing up on one hour serialized dramas, a snapshot of Los Angeles, petulant, I guess I'm just not ready... to dislike all of humanity, the fact that I haven't been murdered in my sleep is a testament to the human spirit and - oh cool a squirrel! Spoiler Alert: Lots of spoilers contained for The Rules of the Game, so go watch it beforehand for spoiler-free listening. "I mean I think we're kind of making a mistake if we're trying to connect to any of these characters on an emotional level... because it really is just a bunch of bored people trying to fill their lives with meaningless distractions... like that's sort of all the movie is."

Well, we may have reached a whole new level of stupidity on this one. We sat down late at night to record a Halloween themed episode. We discuss old Halloween stories, crying over a copied Ninja Turtle ghost, someone putting their leg in a washing machine, and a hilarious story about Burlew in a toothbrush costume. We also have a mysterious call from a talking pumpkin with awful jokes know as the "Hack-o-lantern". Keep following us on iTunes and on twitter @VScomedy #halloween #hackolantern #ghosts #trickortreating #comedy #stupidity
