Join Aaron Alexander and John Humphrey as they dive into the adrenaline-fueled world of Guy Ritchie's 2024 action/war film, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. This high-octane movie plunges us into the covert realm of an elite special operations unit that employs unorthodox tactics and bold strategies to wage secret battles behind enemy lines. The film boasts a star-studded cast, led by Henry Cavill (known for Man of Steel and The Witcher) whose commanding presence anchors the mission. Alan Ritchson (celebrated for his roles in Reacher, Fast X, and Blue Mountain State) brings raw intensity to his role, while Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four, Magic Mike) and Eiza González (Baby Driver and Alita: Battle Angel, Ash) add their own dynamic flair to the team. The ensemble is further bolstered by standout performances from Babs Olusanmokun (Dune, Wrath of Man), Hero Fiennes Tiffin (notable for After), Henry Golding (from Crazy Rich Asians), Rory Kinnear (famed for his work in the James Bond series), Til Schweiger (Inglourious Basterds), Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride, Robin Hood: Men in Tights), Freddie Fox (The Rings of Power), and more. Aaron & Johnald break down every heart-pounding moment—from the film's jaw-dropping infiltration scenes and explosive combat sequences to the witty banter and unexpected twists that showcase Guy Ritchie's signature style. Whether it's a high-stakes ambush on enemy territory or a meticulously choreographed showdown in the heat of battle, The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare delivers action, suspense, and a touch of irreverence that will leave you on the edge of your seat! It's a topsy-turvy world, and maybe the podcast of three people don't amount to a hill of beans. But this is our hill. And these are our beans! Therefore, on this episode of Baconsale, we're ranking parody movies. What are those? They're films that spoof previous works, but that's not important right now. What's really groovy, baby, is that we have 24 comedies that Joel, Kent, and Zack are going to be tiering, including funny flicks like Hot Shots!, Spaceballs, MacGruber, Tropic Thunder, Scary Movie, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, and Waiting for Guffman. Some of them may not rank as high as you'd like, but that's a sacrifice we are willing to make. And beware of exclamation points(!), my wife references, and the Joel genre, as we decide IF we're going to make a sequel. Put... the candle... back! Then press play.

We first talked about this series 472 episodes ago. (Do the math.) We felt it was worth a revisit since it can now be seen every Saturday night on Catchy Comedy. In short, this show is the beta version of Robin Hood: Men in Tights, also from the brilliant mind of Mel Brooks. It couldn't be too bad since it has rerun on A&E, TV Land, Decades, and now Catchy Comedy. Thus, When Things Were Rotten is hardly a thing that is rotten.
It's a Papke Family roundtable with Richard Hopkins-Lutz (Rick), Maryanne Papke (Momo), Name Redacted Papke (Theo), Roger Papke (Marcus), and Jeff Massie (Uncle Max) as we discuss George Segal's questionable turn as the hero(?) of Sherwood Forest. Is this a long lost masterpiece of cinema? No. Not really.Did we enjoy it anyway? We sure did.Does it weirdly feel like the first draft to 'Robin Hood: Men in Tights'? Here we are. The final listener pick of Beer Me A Movie. The spirit of Roger Ebert has guided his ghostly hand across the ouija board for the last time. But don't be sad! He blessed us with a heck of pick. We're talking about Robin Hood: Men in Tights! You can't go wrong with a Mel Brooks movie. In fact, this listener pick is SO good it has inspired the remaining picks of the show. Tune in to find out if the movie is good or bad or both, and the weird parallel we drew to another pod-favorite director. *Robin Hood: Men in Tights © 1993 Brooksfilms International Limited

Meet Richard Lewis, most recently of Curb Your Enthusiasm, but before that a groundbreaking comic considered a key influence on modern humor. From befriending Larry David at summer camp in the early 1960s, Richard might have been expected to have a comic career. He was "discovered" by fellow Legend David Brenner in Greenwich Village where Richard's dark sense of humor was a major hit. Later work included a television starring role (Anything But Love) and movie roles including a key role in the Mel Brooks gem Robin Hood: Men in Tights. Always bracingly honest about his flaws, Richard wrote a best selling memoir and was a frequent talk show guest, especially for David Letterman. As always, find extra cuts below and thanks for sharing our shows. Want more Richard Lewis? Going back to 1981 for this early clip of Richard on the Young Comedian's Special (including an intro by Dick Smothers). https://youtu.be/A-AERjATaMI?si=DjVpkLxctsquSwUy Richard had a fun role in the Mel Brooks film "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" as Prince John, here not really wanting any bad news. https://youtu.be/f_95eB4V2Jg?si=bMMb7Mb4EtxInrs6 Richard was favorite of David Letterman and this is a nice package of some of his finest moments on the show. https://youtu.be/hKqCf2ADRyA?si=laZ4kmgxGxKyI_p2
