The passage calls us first to pray steadfastly—not just occasionally or when convenient, but with courageous persistence that characterizes our entire day. This isn't about bowing our heads at meals; it's about maintaining a constant dialogue with heaven, being spiritually nocturnal as we navigate the darkness around us. The second call is to walk wisely among outsiders, recognizing that we carry the 'Believer's Behavior Version' of the Bible everywhere we go. People are watching through both binoculars and microscopes, and our conduct gives credibility to our words. Wisdom isn't just knowledge—it's learning to connect the dots of life through God's perspective, making the best use of our vanishing commodity called time. Finally, we're urged to speak graciously, seasoning our words with salt that makes them savory and engaging rather than harsh or sanctimonious. This means being prepared to answer questions about our hope with gentleness and respect, not as God's lawyers arguing a case, but as His witnesses sharing what we've experienced. Colossians 3:18-25 | November 23, 2025 | Pastor Todd SmithThis powerful exploration of Colossians 3:18-4:1 challenges us to see God's design for order in our homes and workplaces not as restrictive rules, but as pathways to His glory. We're reminded that our God is not a God of chaos—from the very first act of creation, He brought order to disorder. The passage walks us through the beautiful architecture of family life, where wives are called to willingly arrange themselves under loving leadership, husbands are commanded to sacrificially die daily for their wives, children learn obedience and honor, and parents provide correction without crushing spirits. What's revolutionary here is understanding that submission isn't servitude—it's the same beautiful posture the Son took toward the Father. The text then extends this divine order into our workplaces, reminding us that whether we're employees or employers, we're ultimately serving Christ Himself. The three anchors that help us trust this design are reward, perspective, and justice—knowing that God sees everything, our ultimate boss is Jesus, and He will make all things right.
