Colossians 4:2-6 | November 30, 2025 | Pastor Todd SmithIn this powerful exploration of Colossians 4:2-6, we're challenged to live out the supremacy of Christ in three transformative ways that directly impact our daily interactions with the world around us. The passage calls us first to pray steadfastly—not just occasionally or when convenient, but with courageous persistence that characterizes our entire day. This isn't about bowing our heads at meals; it's about maintaining a constant dialogue with heaven, being spiritually nocturnal as we navigate the darkness around us. The second call is to walk wisely among outsiders, recognizing that we carry the 'Believer's Behavior Version' of the Bible everywhere we go. People are watching through both binoculars and microscopes, and our conduct gives credibility to our words. Wisdom isn't just knowledge—it's learning to connect the dots of life through God's perspective, making the best use of our vanishing commodity called time. Finally, we're urged to speak graciously, seasoning our words with salt that makes them savory and engaging rather than harsh or sanctimonious. This means being prepared to answer questions about our hope with gentleness and respect, not as God's lawyers arguing a case, but as His witnesses sharing what we've experienced. When Christ truly becomes our everything, these three practices—steadfast prayer, wise walking, and gracious speaking—flow naturally from lives transformed by His lordship. To find out more about Crossroads Community Church or to connect with us, visit the following links:→ lifeatcrossroads.org→ facebook.com/lifeatcrossroadsTo give online: lifeatcrossroads.org/giveonline.CCLI License: 2915685CCS WorshipCast License: 9466GRANT OF LICENSE. Colossians 3:18-25 | November 23, 2025 | Pastor Todd SmithThis powerful exploration of Colossians 3:18-4:1 challenges us to see God's design for order in our homes and workplaces not as restrictive rules, but as pathways to His glory. We're reminded that our God is not a God of chaos—from the very first act of creation, He brought order to disorder. The passage walks us through the beautiful architecture of family life, where wives are called to willingly arrange themselves under loving leadership, husbands are commanded to sacrificially die daily for their wives, children learn obedience and honor, and parents provide correction without crushing spirits. What's revolutionary here is understanding that submission isn't servitude—it's the same beautiful posture the Son took toward the Father. The text then extends this divine order into our workplaces, reminding us that whether we're employees or employers, we're ultimately serving Christ Himself. The three anchors that help us trust this design are reward, perspective, and justice—knowing that God sees everything, our ultimate boss is Jesus, and He will make all things right. This isn't about cultural accommodation; it's about living as bright lights of gospel order in a chaotic world, where our ordered homes and honest work become lighthouses pointing others to the God who redeems disorder. Colossians 3:15-17 | November 16, 2025 | Pastor Josh GoertzenThis powerful message from Colossians 3:15-17 reminds us that our identity in Christ fundamentally shapes how we live. We're called to three transformative pursuits: pursuing God's peace by extending to others the same undeserved kindness God showed us; pursuing God's word by letting it dwell richly within us, not just as principles but as a means to behold the precious person of Jesus Christ; and pursuing God's glory by making Him known in everything we do. The sermon beautifully illustrates how we become what we behold—if we're captivated by Jesus through His word, we'll be transformed into His likeness. Our singing isn't just vertical worship but horizontal encouragement, carrying one another to Jesus when we're too weary to go ourselves. The call is clear: let our passion be single, living solely to magnify Jesus so others might see Him as precious to their souls. Colossians 3:10-14 | November 9, 2025 | Pastor Todd SmithIn this powerful exploration of Colossians 3:10-14, we discover what it truly means to dress ourselves spiritually. Just as we carefully choose our physical clothing each day, Scripture calls us to an intentional wardrobe change of the soul. The passage presents a radical transformation: we're not just being tweaked or improved, but renewed from the inside out, being conformed to the very image of God Himself. What makes this particularly profound is that Paul uses the aorist tense, indicating a once-and-for-all decision. This isn't about trying harder or doing better; it's about making a decisive commitment to put on Christ. The eight garments we're called to wear—compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, bearing with one another, forgiveness, and love—aren't just nice suggestions for better behavior. They're the actual characteristics Jesus displayed during His earthly ministry. When we wear these spiritual clothes, we're literally putting on Christ Himself. The passage also reminds us that at the foot of the cross, all human barriers dissolve. Whether Jew or Gentile, educated or uneducated, slave or free, we all stand equal before God. This was revolutionary in Paul's time and remains countercultural today. The binding element that holds this entire spiritual wardrobe together is love—not sentimental feelings, but the deliberate choice to give someone what they need most when they deserve it least, at great personal cost to ourselves. Colossians 3:5-9 | November 2, 2025 | Pastor Todd SmithThis powerful message from Colossians 3:5-9 confronts us with an uncomfortable but necessary truth: genuine faith requires radical transformation. The passage presents Christianity not as a mere belief system, but as an 'extreme makeover' of our entire being. We're challenged to 'put to death' and 'put off' the old patterns that once defined us—sexual immorality, greed, anger, malicious speech, and deception. What makes this teaching so compelling is its honest acknowledgment that while we've died to sin's penalty through Christ, sin's power still battles within us daily. The message doesn't shy away from specific sins that entangle believers, organizing them into three categories: perverted body (sexual sins), perverted heart (covetousness, anger, wrath, malice), and perverted tongue (slander, obscene talk, lying). Yet amid this sobering inventory of human brokenness, we find liberating hope: our past is truly past. When we confess and turn from sin, we're not defined by yesterday's failures. The call isn't to perfectionism but to daily, deliberate choices to kill sin before it kills us—to take off the 'dirty clothes' of our former life and prepare to wear the righteousness Christ offers. Colossians 3:1-4 | October 26, 2025 | Pastor Todd SmithThis powerful message from Colossians 3:1-4 challenges us to shift our focus from the temporary to the eternal, from the 'now' to the 'then.' We're reminded that as Christ followers, we're called to be heavenly distracted—to seek the things above where Christ sits at the right hand of God, and to set our minds on eternal realities rather than earthly distractions. The sermon unpacks two foundational pleas and two transformative promises. First, we're commanded to seek continuously—with pesky persistence—the things that are above, not giving up despite life's billion distractions. Second, we're called to set our minds on heaven, to think heaven, to be so preoccupied with eternity that we pull into our driveways wondering what it will be like to walk streets of gold rather than rehearsing tomorrow's worries. The promises are equally stunning: our lives are hidden with Christ in God, safe and secure in the shelter of the Almighty, and when Christ appears in glory, we will appear with Him. This isn't just theological theory—it's the anchor that transforms how we live today. When we hold earthly things loosely and eternal things tightly, we find freedom from the tyranny of the immediate and discover the joy of living for what truly lasts.
