In world, and even in evangelical circles, people are more interested in techniques than in attitudes. They buy books written by people who appear successful, and who tell them how to be successful, too. The Bible has little to say about techniques and methods. It has much to say about obedience and about the attitudes which are conducive to godly conduct.Believers' attitudes are important. These attitudes which Paul calls for in verses 2 and 3 are necessary because they are the attitudes of our Lord Himself (see Philippians 2:5-8). If we are to reflect Jesus Christ to the world in which we live, then we must manifest His attitudes. Furthermore, these attitudes are those which promote Christian harmony and unity.Humility is listed first because of Paul's emphasis on unity (pride promotes disunity; humility promotes unity) and to counteract their past pride, so as to facilitate obedience to and dependence on God. Christ was the supreme example of humility (Phil. 2:6–8).            Seven elements of unity follow that unite believers in the church. Believers should remember them when tempted to break unity. Again all three members of the Trinity are in view and play a part in this process.Our heart has many pacemaker cells that keep the heart beating in rhythm.  When it gets out of sync, it can cause many problems, even making the heart burst apart.  It can cause the same thing in the body of Christ when we are not unified, we have many problems and even break apart instead of being one as Jesus said we were to be in John 17:21 "that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me. Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?              John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. 7/12/2026 Hebrews 8:7-13 What Is the New Covenant? Intro: Covenant means Promise. God makes promises and He of course keeps all of His promises. God made a Covenant with the people of the earth. The Noahic Covenant…that God would never flood the earth again. God made four covenants with His people Israel. These are all everlasting covenants. The Abrahamic Covenant---The land. The Mosaic Covenant—the law. The Davidic Covenant—A king and a kingdom. The Mosaic or the old Covenant is a system of works in order to please God. It points to the lamb of God Jesus Christ who fulfilled the works required by the Old Covenant. Hebrews focuses on the Mosaic Covenant—or as they call it the first Covenant…..the law of works. It's basically the Old Testament and the New Testament. Testament is a promise. Last will and Testament. Hebrews compares the Old and the New Covenants. What is the New Covenant?

Send us Fan MailEph 4:1 I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2  with all lowliness and gentleness,              In this section we see Paul telling us to walk worthy of all that God has given us and called us to in Chapters 1-3.  Paul says based on all God has done for you, now you live this way.  Chapters 1-3 tell us what God has done for us, and Chapters 4-6 tell us our responsibilities based on His grace and mercy.The power to serve God is not found in us, in our own striving or strength. It is the power which God Himself provides in Christ and by means of His Spirit. Chapters 1-3 speak much of God's power, which is at work in us, enabling us to serve Him in a way that brings Him glory (see Ephesians 1:19-21; 3:16-21).The doctrine of chapters 1-3 provides the motivation for our conduct. Chapters 1-3 are all about the grace of God and this grace produces gratitude. In the Old Testament God said if you obey me I will bless you and now in the NT He says I have blessed you already so now you need to obey meGratitude for God's grace is one of the motivations for our service. Another is the hope and assurance we have of the fulfillment of God's future promises. Another strong motivation is the knowledge of our eternal security (Ephesians 1:13), and that God has not only provided the grace to be saved, but also to serve Him, to His glory.In this lesson we will consider the “new” way of walking which we are to learn and to practice as believers in Jesus Christ. Amen. We finish up this great prayer that Paul prayed with him bowing on his knees to God the Father and praying that we would have inner strength because of us allowing God to be at home in our lives through the Holy Spirit.  Then this would lead to knowing how great Christ's love is for us.  Then that would lead us to be filled so full of God that we would live for Him and Him only.  Then he begins to close this section with a great praise to God because He can do so much more than we ask or think and He does it because of His great power that resides in us through the Holy Spirit and us meeting each of the preceding conditions which are needed for this to happen.  He finishes by giving God all the glory because of what Jesus Christ does in us, the church.  Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?               John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Psalm 148: Praise the Lord from Heaven and Earth Psalm 148 calls all creation to praise the Lord because His name alone is exalted and His glory fills heaven and earth. Send us Fan MailEph 3:7 of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power. 8 To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, 9 and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; 10 to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, 11 according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, 12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him. 13 Therefore I ask that you do not lose heart at my tribulations for you, which is your glory. In this section we see Paul had a task which was given to him by God's great power.  'Paulus' is Latin for 'little' or 'small', and tradition says he was a little man. 'I am little,' he may be saying, 'little by name, little in stature, and morally and spiritually littler than the littlest of all Christians.  He also was to explain this mystery that Jews and Gentiles would be one in the church, with a purpose that God's manifold (of many kinds; numerous and varied) wisdom would be known by the church and the angels in the heavenly places would too.  That this was something planned according to his eternal purposes and was accomplished by Jesus' death on the cross.  He also tells them that we have boldness and access to God and we should come to Him with confidence because we have faith in Him.  Lastly that they would not lose heart at Paul's trouble and the trials that he was going through.  This message centers on the transformative identity believers have in Christ, rooted in God's grace and revealed through the mystery of the unified church composed of both Jews and Gentiles. Drawing from Ephesians, it emphasizes that salvation is not earned but received as a gift of grace, enabling believers to live as holy, reconciled people who reflect God's manifold wisdom to both humanity and heavenly beings. The preacher highlights Paul's profound humility—describing himself as ‘less than the least'—as a model of how divine empowerment, not personal merit, defines true ministry. Through personal testimony and biblical reflection, the message calls believers to persevere in suffering with boldness, trusting that God uses trials to glorify Himself and advance His purposes, while urging a life of continual dependence on God through prayer and faith.                 The same God that says you cannot be saved on your own, but you need to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved. That I did it all when I was on the cross. I paid for your sins. I died and was buried and rose again the third day that you might have eternal life. That same God that gives salvation as a free gift if we'll just call on him and ask for him to give it to us.             That the suffering of this world is what Romans 8, 18 says is not worthy to be compared with the glory that we're going to have in heaven.             Because God didn't save us to sit and soak, but he saved us to live for him, right? And to do his will. Otherwise, when we got saved, you know what he would have done? But he says he didn't give us the spirit of fear those that know Christ we don't have to be afraid of us on the other side right paul said to live as Christ and to die is gain in other words if we know Christ that it's good to be here because we're serving the Lord. He says we didn't become Christians to be put again in a spirit of fear. That 2 Timothy 1.7 talks about that. He hadn't given us a spirit of fear, but a power and might and a sound mind. 1st John 4:18 says there's no fear in love but perfect love cast out fear because fear involves torment but he who fears has not been made perfect in love in other words we don't have to be afraid we don't have to worry we talked about this last week that the worst that can happen to us on earth is the worst it will ever be but once we pass out of this world it's gonna be better than we can ever imagine. I often pray stuff like that, Lord, don't let me get out of your will. Keep me in the center of your will, right? We are led by the Spirit of God, and when we live according to His will, and we let Him lead us, then... We know that we're the children of God, right? That's one of the ways we know that we're a child of God is because we have the Spirit speaking to us and He leads us and He guides us. That word sanctification means to be set apart. It means to become more and more like God. In other words, when we trust Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, before we were saved, Now, I know all of us didn't get down the road, but we look, you know, you look at people and how bad and how sinful some people are, right? But by the grace of God, that could have been any of us because any of us are capable of that.             But you could also take the reverse and say, imagine the worst thing that could ever happen here on earth to you and multiply it by infinity, and that's how bad hell's going to be. The irony of fallen man's dilemma is that he doesn't even realize his condition until after he is saved. Lost men, blinded & deceived by Satan, think they are really “living it up,” when in reality they are dead. They think that by living in sin they are enjoying life to its fullest, but they are not.             Those in the nursing home facilities are locked up in bodies that do not work and a wheelchair and a bed. We minister to children and youth who are locked up because of behavioral problems. Some have told us we want to have a real family because their parents have lost or given up custody of them. Other kids are locked up because they've committed crimes. We also minister to those locked up at the jails and the prisons, to those locked up in addictions to drugs, alcohol, depression, and suicidal thoughts, to those locked up in a variety of other things that keep them from becoming who Jesus wants them to be.             What does that mean? It was weak through the flesh. In other words, we on our own cannot get to heaven because our flesh is weak, right? I mean, even a little baby. Sins, right? We always like to think of those little babies as sweet and innocent. But what do you do? You tell them not to stick their finger in the light socket or touch something that's hot or don't take that from somebody. And what do they do? They look at you and they dare you and they go, I'm going to get it. And they look at you to see what you're going to do, right? That's sin.             And so at that point, the moment we believe in Him, The Holy Spirit comes to live inside of us and we belong to Jesus Christ. And there is therefore now no condemnation. And the verse doesn't say no mistakes, no failures, nor even no sins. Because you know what, as Christians we do fail, we do fall, we do mess up. Abraham lied, David committed adultery, Peter tried to kill a man. We know Christians aren't perfect, right? We are forgiven. That is the good news. Because guess what? He did this so he could reconcile everything back to himself as it was in the beginning of time. The Bible is the story of man being created, falling & God working throughout time to restore us to Him in the end. This does not suggest that everyone will be saved; instead, sin's disorder will be removed & universal peace will be established (Isa. 2:2–4; 11:1–10). The inspiration of Scripture. It says that no man wrote Scripture on his own, but it was God breathed. It was inspired by the Holy Spirit, right? The Holy Spirit inspired men to write the Word of God. We talked about His salvation. He resurrects. Romans chapter 8 verse 11 talks about that verse. He says, But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. You know, one day the Holy Spirit is going to resurrect us, right? It says in Romans 1.4 that Jesus was declared to be the Son of God with power from the Holy Spirit because he had the spirit of power. I also put Jesus... Mary's womb and Matthew chapter 1 verse 20 Joseph is thinking about Mary being pregnant and it says while he thought about these sayings behold an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream saying Joseph son of David do not be afraid to take to you marry your wife for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit and That Jesus was deposited in the womb of Mary by the Holy Spirit, right? He has attributes. He's holy. To lie to him is to lie to God. He's the spirit of holiness. He's omniscient. When I try, I fail. When I trust... He succeeds. When I try, I fail. When I trust, He succeeds. That's why Paul said that when I am weak, I am strong. Why? Because I depend on Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 12, right? That's why he said in Philippians 4, 11 to 13, I know how to be abased. I know how to abound. I know how to be hungry. I know how to be full. I know how to be rich. I know how to be poor. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me, right? I've learned the secret of contentment. Send us Fan MailThink about Lazarus. Lazarus was dead. Jesus basically propels him out of the grave because I think he was wrapped like a mummy, you know, like they wrapped him. So he couldn't have really, he'd have been doing like this trying to get out of the grave, right? Trying to hop to get out of the grave. He couldn't have done that, but God propels him out of the grave. And when he comes out, what did he say? Loose him and let him go. Now think about Lazarus. He's been in the grave four days. You can imagine the heat out here today. It's going to be out there today. It's even hotter, I think, in Israel. Alright, four days worth of being in a grave. No embalming, no anything. I mean, you ride by a little old squirrel or a raccoon or something on the side of the road and you got your windows open or your vents open and it about knocks you down. You can imagine four days of a person. He says, take these old dirty, stinky grave clothes off of him. And he says, loose him and let him go. And when he says loose him and let him go, it's a picture of us being a slave to sin. We're dead. And when Jesus propels us out of the grave and we trust him, all of a sudden he lets us loose and we take off all those dirty, stinky sins that are a stench in the nostrils of a holy God. is what it's a picture of. Send us Fan MailEph 1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace         The first great act of redemption in the Old Testament is the exodus, the deliverance of the nation Israel from her bondage in Egypt. Redemption is an act of God by which He Himself pays as a ransom the price for sin which has outraged His holiness. It means to pay a price to free somebody from bondage. Every person in the world is a slave in their sinful state. No man is free. And to whom are they slaves? Who is the captor? John 8:34 says, "Men are slaves to sin." Romans 6:17 says, "Men are servants to sin." Romans 7:14; "Sold under sin." Romans 8:21; "In bondage to corruption." What is the captor of men? Sin. Sin demands a price to be paid to release its victim. The price or the wage of sin is death. So in order to purchase sinners from the grasp of sin there must be death. Hebrews 9:22 The soul that sinneth, the Old Testament says, it shall die. All right, the wages or the price of sin is death. Jesus paid the price to set us free. We have been set free from the law - Galatians chapter 5:1 Set free from slavery to sin Rom 6:6 Set free from the power of Satan and the world Gal 1:4 Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. They wanted to go back to Egypt instead of going to the promised land. Because the promised land, remember, it's work to trust Christ. It's hard to trust Him every day to put the sin away and live for God in a sense. But you know what? It's easier to do that because God gives you the power if you would trust in Him. than it is to go back and live in Egypt and live the old way.
