Wait, weren't we just in 2 Samuel? YES! This is where we'll start alternating back and forth between Old Testament history books as we seek to read chronologically. We won't be aligning historical events verse by verse, but we will be trying to align chapters so that the overall historical context is understood. That means we're going to spend some time in 1 Chronicles as well as 2 Samuel for a bit. So about today's episode: alright, real talk: this episode probably isn't going to change your life, but there are some interesting little nuggets to be found in between the names and genealogies. Though your time in God's Word is up to you, here's a friendly reminder that most podcast apps allow for listening at 2x speed. Alright, let's read some names, shall we?1 Chronicles 1 - 1:01 . 1 Chronicles 2 - 6:55 . 1 Chronicles 3 - 14:40 . Pastor Andrew preaches on Psalm 97, and as we dig into this passage, we see the Lord as the Reigning One and the Righteous One. God is the King over all creation--all nature and all nations--therefore, we can have joy and gladness! He has the victory over all things. God is victorious over evil and idolatry (the root of sin). God is victorious in delivering His people from the wicked. God is victorious in securing His holy place of Zion. God is victorious in securing JOY for all who trust in Him despite their circumstances. ________________________________________ Links to Sermon Notes & Answers: ➤Sermon Notes (Blank): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_7cc5747edd274b09a0c1d63e538301eb.pdf ➤Sermon Notes (Answers): https://www.sheridanhills.org/_files/ugd/30fec2_e5b66bfd19f64656b0424878a2cfff85.pdf ________________________________________ In this video: Review of previous sermons in series Main Points Application ________________________________________ Subscribe to this channel to catch weekly expositional sermons from the Bible. ________________________________________ Explore more sermons and information: https://www.sheridanhills.org/watch-new ________________________________________ Follow us: ➤Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sheridanhills/ ➤Twitter: https://twitter.com/sheridanhills01 ➤Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/sheridanhills/
Fr. Mike dives into the recurring issue of the Israelites rebelling against God and remaining stuck in their past as we read about the revolt of Korah, Dathan and Abiram against Moses and Aaron. Thank God that when we face that final appearing we will be saved by the merciful kindness of God who for the sake of Jesus' suffering and death saved us, forgave us, redeemed us. God's judgment for all those who believe in Jesus is "Not Guilty." That is a cause for eternal joy and glory and praise to the LORD, Jesus Christ.
Next time you see a majestic night sky, a glorious sunrise, a magnificent mountain range, or a beautiful landscape, remember the One who created it all. It is his display of righteousness for all to see seen most fully in the cross of Jesus who is our rightness, hope, and salvation. He is truly the One who preserves the lives of his saints and delivers us from the hand of the wicked. May his name be praised by us today!Click here to see my first attempt at astrophotography.
We sometimes teach a This is That technique in our training of pastors and spouses with PLI. It's a way of helping people to remember past events and see how the church has navigated those events and changes. This [change, event, plan,] is that [past event] all over again. But in the case of a tyrant, fire and brimstone, judgment and smiting (only) god, That is not This. Our God is no wimp. He is all powerful. Mighty. Holy. A consuming fire. But he is also merciful and gracious. Loving and kind. He is the God who inspired St. Paul to write, "Where sin increased, grace abounded all the more" (Romans 5:20). We rightly both fear and love God above all things.
God needs no permission to make the laws of physics, morality, or spirituality. He reigns. He is above all things. "Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne," says the Psalmist. He rules the world with truth and grace goes the sanza from Joy to the World. This is our God who is above all. He is in charge. So we say:Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous, and give thanks to his holy name!

The Book of Psalms is so long that it is split into five separate books. This is where Book Four begins. Some believe that these are some of the oldest psalms and that they were written by the Old Testament ancient, Moses. If that is the case, this would make them some of the oldest writing in the Bible. The transience of life, God's shield of invincibility and his praiseworthiness all take central stage in these enduring songs.Written and produced by Chas BayfieldMusic by Michael Auld and Jon Hawkins MusicCover Art by Lisa Goff

General Theme for the Week: Our Great Big God Today's Lesson: Rejoice, because God is Terrible? On this edition of One Single Story, Pastors Stephen Mizell and Jay Rivenbark discuss the following questions: We often talk about God around church, but seldom in terms like these terrible descriptions. Do you think we have a soft, flimsy view of God? Are these descriptions of God viewed negatively by our society? If so, why? Would you say that you and God have the same enemies? Are the reasons the psalmist gives for rejoicing over God's fierceness still good reasons for us to rejoice over God's terror? The reading for the day is Psalm 97.
