Your eyes are not separate from your brain. Indeed, they are part of the same system. That is why we take nutrition seriously when we talk about protecting vision as you age, especially if you are worried about macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, dry eye, or the slow creep of cognitive decline. We dig into the MIND diet, a research-backed blend of the Mediterranean diet and the DASH diet for blood pressure, and explain why it is so compelling for both brain health and eye health. I break down what the science is really saying, including long-term data that tracks older adults over years and findings that link higher MIND diet adherence with dramatically lower Alzheimer's risk. We also talk honestly about supplements: they can help, but diet and lifestyle do more heavy lifting when your goal is healthy circulation, lower inflammation, and stronger protection against oxidative stress. You will leave with a clear “what to eat” list you can actually use: whole grains, vegetables with an emphasis on leafy greens, nuts like walnuts, fiber-rich beans, antioxidant berries, olive oil, plus fish and poultry if you include them. We also cover what to limit, including pastries and sweets, fried foods, margarine with trans fats, and excessive red meat and cheese. To round it out, we pair the food plan with practical movement, including a simple aerobic routine and a short workout concept aimed at boosting nitric oxide for better blood flow.If you care about keeping your mind and your sight, subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more people can find these natural, complementary strategies.

Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Sarah: Hi Dr. Cabral. Thank you for all you do! Every time I get a cold or virus I break out in full body hives and it takes my body weeks to reset. I've tried your 21DD but seem to be really sensitive to herbal supplements. (Lots of reactions) Please help! Mohamed: Hey Dr.Cabral, 2 part question. Firstly, how are you? Where are you in terms of your overall well-being. I know you get a lot of baggage trying to help others! Just wanted to let you know You helped me a lot. Thought I'd ask, how is your well-being. My secondary question is about water pH, I have an under sink AquaTru without the alkaline remineralization. I sometimes add mineral drops.. wondering about optimal pH range for water. No Kangen yet haha it's expensive for a college student! Jenny: Hi Dr. Cabral - I know you have given recommendations in the past for the community to look into biological dentists, especially when it comes to removing past fillings, alternatives to root canals, etc. What about for regular 6 month check ups and cleanings? If we continue to go to a "regular" dentist for those visits, what is your recommendation about the dental x-rays they require? Thank you! Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral - I have a question about eye health. My father had Glaucoma which eventually led to full blindness. His eye doctor prescribed multiple eye drops to help maintain the eye pressure to help delay the progression, but he was on those for probably 20-30 years (Lumigan, Alphagan, Cosopt). My eye doctor is watching the pressure in my eyes and would like me to begin drops, as the pressure is higher than the "normal" range. I don't want to use drops, but also want to maintain eye health. I follow your protocols, including 2 Omega 3 soft gels and the Daily Vision and Eye Health. Do you have any other recommendations? Is Inflamma Soothe something I should take on an ongoing basis, as well? Thank you for all that you do. Dyan: Hello! Thank you so much for all you do! My boyfriend was diagnosed at 26 with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia, with him being so young there are great chances he will go into remission in five years or so and stop his medication. Doctors say CML is a genetic mutation but I know most cancers are from environmental factors. He's taking 50mg of a TKI inhibitor pill daily (considered chemo). I don't feel confident enough in my knowledge to have him stop his chemo pill just yet, but I know we would both love for him to stop it. What is your thought on Ivermectin for cancers patients? I have read it would respond great with his medication. He is super open to anything I've suggested whether it's diet changes or supplements. What supplements or action should we be sure to take? Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend! I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks… Gaby: Hello! Hope your having a great day. I searched your podcast for something on birth defects, but didn't find a lot. Can you tell me what causes birth defects (besides genetics) and how to prevent them (even with genetics). And if I have MTHFR, should I be concerned about using 1020 mcg of L-5MTHF? I heard that that amount can build up in the body even with this form. I'm using a prenatal with that amount and I'm hoping to become pregnant next year. Derrick: Hi there. My dad is on dialysis and needs to have a kidney transplant. I would love him to see a FM doctor but at 71, the approach feels completely foreign. Please can you help with any diet/supplement recommendations / foundations that could support him. The smallest tips that provide the biggest impact would be so appreciated. Dana: Hi Dr. Cabral, I listened to your review of the Neuropod. I was wondering if you measured the emf's? And what level were they? Thank you, Dana Mohamed: Good day Dr.Cabral, appreciate all the work you do and the entire Equilife team. Thanks for everything. My question is regarding IOP pressure. Laser eye surgery due to "drainage" was mentioned however it seems like it's more for "preventative purposes". However the alternative mentioned was a 20-30% risk of developing acute glaucoma. Her IOP is normal for now… no other alternatives were suggested. I feel like they are jumping to laser eye surgery (risk).. thoughts? Any other tips for eye health in general, nutrition supplements.. etc. I know you mentioned Lutin before. Thanks Sarah: I heard you mention that you add psyllium husk to your shake every day. I am starting to add psyllium husk to my diet, but I am wondering about timing. I read that you should take psyllium one hour before or two hours after any supplements as it can combine with certain nutrients and reduce absorption. If you add the psyllium to your shake with the DNS Powder, does that not reduce absorption of any of the nutrients? I just started taking it and have been careful to take it away from my supplements, but it would be much easier to just take with my shake or meal. I really appreciate your help!
