After falling behind 12-0, the Celtics battle back tying the game at 26 at the end of the first, blowing them out in the second and forth quarters coming away with a huge 107-79 win against the Bucks. The Celtics lose 114-111 after a corner 3 from Huerter with .2 seconds left on the clock. The Celtics had a lot of opportunities in this game to close out the Bulls but couldn't quite pull through. The Celtics come into this game as one of the hottest teams in the NBA playing against a Nuggets team without Jokic and walk out with a 114-110 loss. The Celtics beat the Kings 120-106 but this game was much closer than the score shows. The Celtics closed this game out with a 32-18 4th quarter really putting the Kings away. The 4th quarter was powered by 14pts from White and 8 from JB but this was a game that was really controlled by our bench. Hauser and Simons both provided a huge scoring punch with 15pts and 14pts respectively and Garza even chipped in 11. After a tough first quarter where the Celtics gave up 39pts after a 6-6 from 3 start from the Pacers, the Celtics calmed down and blew the doors off the Pacers 140-122. The Celtics beat the Pacers 103-95 in a Joe Mazzulla masterclass. Yes, this is a game that the Celtics should win BUT the Celtics did not come out playing well early. They found themselves down by as many as 20 and 3 minutes into the third quarter, Mazzulla pulled all of his starters and the bench goes OFF! They responded with a 10-2 run forcing a Pacers timeout and extended that run to 19-5 forcing another Pacers timeout! Eventually the bench magic ran out and Mazzulla brought his starters back in but instead of being down 20, they were down just 8 and then you had JB who just took over. JB out scored the Pacers 14-13 in the 4th quarter! The Pacers shot a ridiculous 12-20 from 3 in the first half and just 1-20 in the second so there is certainly a bit of luck in there but they do say water finds its level and the Pacers are the worst 3pt shooting team in the NBA so we will take it. The Celtics beat the Raptors 112-96 without JB!!! Pritchard went off for 33pts alongside 8reb and 10ast!!! He had 19pts in the 3rd quarter and was truly unstoppable. The Celtics BEAT THE HEAT 129-116 after an impressive 4th quarter stretch with contributions from a lot of guys. Derrick White was Mr Consistent in this game and seemed to hit every big shot imaginable on his way to a 33pt 5reb 6ast game with 9 3pt makes!!! JB, while it was certainly a slow start with just 6pts in the first half, added another 30pt game which he has done in 12 of his last 13 games! On top of his 30pts he also led the team with 9reb and 7ast along with a 10-11 FT performance to make up for last game lol. What makes this win more impressive is the performances we got from our bench. Hauser was 5-6 from 3 with 15pts, Simons added 14pts and Hugo had 10pts 8reb 2stl and a block. Hugo was absolutely key down the stretch on both sides of the ball and it made it impossible to take him out. He ended up with 29 minutes tonight which you just love to see. The Celtics lost to the Pistons 112-105 in another game that they could've/should've won. The Celtics started this game shooting 5-11 from 3 and ended the game shooting 10-39 so in quarters 2-4 they shot just 5-28 which is 17%. Derrick White and JB seemed to be the only 2 that could get any sort of consistent scoring going especially down the stretch. White led the team with 14 4th quarter points alongside JBs 7 so between the 2 of them, they scored 21 of the teams 24 4th quarter pts... They both ended the night with 30+ point performances. The Celtics' 5 game win streak comes to an end after a true tale of two halves. They lost 116-101 after being up 67-60 in the first half. They scored 35 points in the first quarter and just 34 points in the entire second half.... They shot 15 for their last 54 which is just 27% and ended the game at 38.6% from the field which is their lowest of the year. JB and Walsh combined for 50 of the teams 101 points and did it on a very efficient 66% from the field and 62% from 3 so that really goes to show you how poorly everyone else shot in this one.... The Celtics beat the Raptors 121-113 and have moved into 3rd place in the Eastern Conference!!!! After an 0-3 start to this season, I don't think anybody expected this type of turnaround and certainly not this fast but here we are. I did say coming into this season that this team was going to be a lot of fun to watch but they probably weren't going to be much more than a .500 team. I was certainly wrong about the record but I was definitely right about how much fun this team has been. Mazzulla has these guys all bought in and playing their hearts out and it has been awesome to see so many guys on different nights contributing to their success. Derrick White and JB were huge in tonight's win but they really did get contributions all over the place. The Lakers were without Luka, LeBron and Smart and it certainly showed as the Celtics steamrolled them 126-105. JB led the way again with 30pts 8reb and 8ast and his playmaking was on full display tonight. The Celtics pull off another crunch time win over the Knicks 123-117 and this was a rollercoaster through and through! The Celtics found themselves down big early after a brutal 32-21 1st quarter but put up two monster quarters after that due to a scorching hot JB who ended the game with 42pts including 18 in the 2nd and 15 in the 3rd!As impressive as he was for the majority of this game, I think the real story of tonight is the play of Hugo, Walsh and Minott! Hugo completed shifted the energy in the 2nd quarter making every huge play defensively, Minott did that in the 2nd and 4rd while hitting some huge shots and then Jordan Walsh was arguably our clutch performer. Jordan had a huge offensive rebound and putback on a Minott miss and JB miss in back to back possessions to go up 109-101 and then had a huge steal next possession and then ended his night with a phenomenal finish at the rim putting the C's up 115-110 along with a huge rebound late in the game. The Celtics lost 119-115 to the Timberwolves despite a JB masterclass. JB led the way with 41pts 6reb 7ast and was efficient doing it shooting 53% from the field and 45% from 3. He also had a huge pullup 3 to tie the game at 110 capping a Celtics 12-0 run before the Timberwolves pulled away. This game was also one of the best Queta games we have seen in his career. WOWW!! The Celtics snap the Pistons 13 game win streak in a 117-114 thriller!! This game was back and forth the entire way and ended with a huge clutch time win with huge performances from White, JB and Baylor. Derrick White had a lackluster first half scoring just 2pts on 0-3 from the field but erupted for 25pts in the second half including 11 pts in the final 4:30. JB had a 33pt double double and Baylor played a really good game on both sides of the ball.This was a huge test for the C's. The Pistons are a big team that rebounds really well and we came into the game without Queta and had a bad Luka Garza game and still came away with the win despite the Pistons grabbing 21 offensive rebounds. A great 3pt shooting night and timely baskets put the Celtics forward and you love to see it especially against a team like Detroit! The Celtics vs. Clippers matchup quickly turned into a tale of two games, starting with an early 24-point Boston blow-out. After going up 37-30 in the first, the Celtics opened the third quarter with an 8-0 run, extending their lead to a seemingly insurmountable 71-49. However, a massive 23-7 run by the Clippers immediately closed the gap, turning the blowout into a nail-biter and setting the stage for a dramatic fourth quarter with the Celtics barely hanging on to a 90-85 lead.   The final minutes were defined by clutch plays and chaos, with the Celtics needing a late 9-0 run to hold off the charging Clippers. The Celtics blow the doors of the Grizzlies 131-95 and we finally got to see 48 minutes of great basketball. Granted, it came against a bad Grizzlies team that was also decimated with injuries but you have to love seeing good basketball regardless. Pritchard led the way in this one with 24pts alongside 6reb and 9ast and was making some insane passes out there getting everyone involved. This was also the first time this season where Derrick White truly looked like his old self which is great to see!This was another game where Queta and Luka Garza really played well contributing 13pts 8reb and 14pts 7reb respectively. Because of their strong play, the Celtics did out rebound Memphis 58-41 in this game! Overall, there are a lot of strong performances and not a lot of negative to talk about which isn't how a lot of these early season games have gone lol. Douglas-firs abound. They produce a sharp sound in the wind, occasionally what you might call a hiss. Just an hour to the east, beyond the crest of the Cascade Range, a more arid landscape plays host to ponderosa pine trees. The wind on their long, bundled needles is quite different. Because their needles are flexible and bundled together, they sway and brush against each other in waves, producing a softer sound. More of a shush. Words fail me here. You just have to listen.This recording captures the song of the pines as a backdrop for the birds that make this habitat their home.We hear Western Wood Pewee, Pine Siskin, American Goldfinch, Hairy Woodpecker, White-crowned sparrow, American Robin, Red-breasted Nuthatch, and California Quail—to name names—on a mild June evening near Glenwood, Washington. But what is it about ponderosa pine trees that they produce such a sonorous sound? According to field recordist Gordon Hempton, the pitch is a function of the length of the needle or blade of grass. “We can go back to the writings of John Muir, which — he turned me on to the fact that the tone, the pitch, of the wind is a function of the length of the needle or the blade of grass. So the shorter the needle on the pine, the higher the pitch; the longer, the lower the pitch.”-Gordon Hempton, recordistWhile that sounds plausible and is certainly memorable, it's not the whole story. It's not just about length; stiffness, density, bundling, and flexibility all matter too. All the complexity of the canopy structure goes into the sound. The turbulence of the wind moving between needles, branches and trunks, and the brushing of the needles against each other all plays a role. Take a guitar string; the string is fixed at both ends and vibrates at specific frequencies determined by its length, tension, and mass. Needles are only fixed at one end, so they're more like tines than strings. The frequency of a guitar string follows clear mathematical relationships: a string twice as long vibrates at half the frequency (one octave lower), assuming same tension and thickness. The sound of pine needles comes primarily from aerodynamics: wind flowing around needles creates fluctuations in the air. Needles twice as long do not whisper an octave lower; rather, they produce a lower range of pitches due to the lower frequency of movements and resulting turbulence they create. A string can produce a clear frequency. A needle produces a spectrum of frequencies; a texture. What can be said about all the variety of needles, leaves, and blades of grass and the sounds they make in the wind? Has someone attempted to map them? If there is such an inventory, I did not find it, but I did find the following observations made nearly seven centuries ago in an interesting piece of nature writing. It's observational, philosophical, and poetic all at once: Wind cannot create sound on its own: it sounds only in connection with things. It is unlike the ferocious clamor of thunder, which rumbles through the void. Since wind sounds only in connection with things, its sound depends on the thing: loud or soft, clear or vague, delightful or frightening—all are produced depending on the form of the thing. Though it may come into contact with earthen or rock pedestals in the shape of tortoises, sounds are not produced. If a valley is empty and immense, its sound is vigorous and fierce; when water gently flows, its sound is still turbulent and agitated—neither achieves a harmonious balance, and both cause man to feel fearful and frightened. Therefore, only plants and trees can produce suitable sounds.Among plants and trees, those with large leaves have a muffled sound; those with dry leaves have a sorrowful sound; those with frail leaves have a weak and unmelodic sound. For this reason, nothing is better suited to wind than the pine.Now, the pine as a species has a stiff trunk and curled branches, its leaves are thin, and its twigs are long. It is gnarled yet noble, unconstrained and overspreading, entangled and intricate. So when wind passes through it, it is neither obstructed nor agitated. Wind flows through smoothly with a natural sound. Listening to it can relieve anxiety and humiliation, wash away confusion and impurity, expand the spirit and lighten the heart, make one feel peaceful and contemplative, cause one to wander free and easy through the skies and travel along with the force of Creation. At the time, the children were in the custody of their grandmother Tifany Adams. After the women were reported missing, Tifany instructed police that the two women never arrived to retrieve the kids. Veronica's vehicle was discovered abandoned. At the scene of the vehicle police found signs of foul play. Days later the bodies of the women were discovered buried a little more than 8 miles from the vehicle. Someone went to great extremes in a failed attempt to conceal the bodies.
