The moment that Jesus Christ came into us we trusted him as lord and savior. We were spiritually dead, but it symbolizes we become alive again. Remember when Adam and Eve died in the garden? When they ate the fruit, what happened? They died spiritually, right? They didn't die physically. Later on, they died spiritually. Because all of a sudden, what happened? They were scared. They hid from God. And at that moment, God kicked them out of the garden because he didn't want them to live in sin forever.   Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?              John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send a textToday we look a little closer at the three do you love Me statements and what they mean to us in practical terms of what we need to do and how we need to live in light of these questions.  Peter is like us in that he is not willing to totally commit to something unless we are sure WE can pull it off.  So, Jesus gives a prophecy of how Peter will die.  He tells Peter that he will live to be an old man and then they will put him on a cross. That he will glorify God through his death.  That is just like God to let us know, yes you have failed, yes you are hesitant to fully commit now because of your failure, but I am going to use you anyway. Send a text    In Mark 3:29 Jesus said "but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation"   This saying of Jesus has caused many people great anxiety throughout the history of the church. Many have wondered if they have committed the unpardonable sin. Concern that one may have committed it is a good indication that one probably has not. The way to avoid committing the unpardonable sin is to believe the testimony that the Holy Spirit has given about Jesus in Scripture, namely, that He is the Christ (i.e., the divine Messiah, cf. 1 John 5:1). In other words, the only unforgiveable sin is the sin of rejecting Christ as Savior. If you die and have not trusted Christ as your Savior, then you will end up in hell.  That is the unforgiveable sin. If you haven't trust Him today.          Mark 3:28-30 "Assuredly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they may utter; 29 "but he who blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is subject to eternal condemnation" -- 30 because they said, "He has an unclean spirit."       Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.          George Sweeting wrote, It is a fearful thing that people can be consumed by their own lust. Only God's grace keeps us from the wolf's fate. Only God's grace keeps us from doing to ourselves what that wolf does to himself. I think about the sharks, you know, they go crazy when they get in the water, right? And they attack them. Anybody like to watch Shark Week? I always like to watch that. But those sharks, man, when they smell that blood, they attack anything. And they literally roll their eyelids back and they're blind because they can't see. And they just attack anything and everything around them. Sometimes they hurt themselves or they destroy, they bite other animals or whatever's in their way. Bust up cages or get stuck in cages or who knows what they do. They're so big and powerful they're hard to be hurt. But they bite each other and attack anything that gets in their way. And that's what happens to people when they don't know Christ.           You know, the problem is we just don't know the power we have within us. That's the thing. Paul said I can do what? All things through Christ who strengthens me. 2 Corinthians 12, he said when I am weak, I am strong, right? Because why? Christ's power dwells in me. There's so many other places. Philippians 2.12, he talks about that. I was just trying to remember that verse this morning because my pastor quoted it yesterday, but he said, he talks about, you know, that it is work out your own salvation with fear and trembling because it is God who wills to do of his good pleasure, right? And over and over and over again, Ephesians 3.20 says that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or think according to His power that works in us. We've got Holy Spirit power.           I remember the story, what was it, about one of the future queen of England or something? They never did tell her that she was going to be the Queen of England because they were worried if they told her who she was that she would begin acting up and acting out because of who she was. And the one person decided to tell her who she was and she says, now that I know who I am, now I will live that out. And that's the Christian life. That's what we're supposed to do once we know who we are. The Bible says that we're called what? Christians if we know Christ. That means little Christ. It means we live like Christ, right? John says in chapter 1:36 And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, "Behold the Lamb of God!" In the Old Testament many lambs died to cover sin, and even as Jesus was dying on the cross they were sacrificing thousands of lambs as required on Passover.  The sad thing is they did not recognize Jesus as the TRUE LAMB OF GOD and instead were still looking at some cheap imitation.  I hope you are not expecting some cheap substitute to save you.  Only Jesus can.  Trust in Him today. 1 Corinthians 5:7 For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed. Romans 10:9-11 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame."                                       John 1:29,36 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! Send a textIn this very familiar section of Scripture we see Jesus telling the disciples after they have fished all night to cast the net again and they catch so many fish they almost sink the boat.  They need to recognize without Him they can do nothing, as do we.  Then He feeds the disciples with fish He has created for their breakfast in the same fashion He multiplied the fish and the loaves at the feeding of the 5000 men and their families.  He then proceeds to restore Peter by asking him three times do you love me.  That is the question of all time, do we love Jesus more than others, more than things, more than anything.  As the old song says I would rather have Jesus than silver or gold, than riches untold, I rather have Jesus than anything this world affords. Send a textPsalm 34:8 says O taste and see that the LORD is good; How blessed is the man who takes refuge in Him! David was calling on the people to experience as he had the goodness of the Lord for themselves by relying on Him during their times of difficulties.  In Psalms 34 verses 4 through 8 David witnesses to us what God does for His children.  He saves us, He keeps us, and He satisfies us.  We cannot do these things for ourselves but God can.  This is a promise not of comfortable circumstances, but it is a promise of God's care for us who belong to Him. Have you tasted and seen that the Lord is good?  Trust Him today if you haven't for all that goes on in life and trust Him for salvation if you are not His child. In John 1:29 it says, the next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, "Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! John the Baptist presents Jesus as the one who will die in our place to take away our sin.  One man says in the Old Testament the question is 'Where is the lamb?'. Here he says it twice in John 1 and in all the Gospels that is the emphasis "Behold the Lamb of God!" In Revelation 5:12 those that know Him as Savior will sing "Worthy is the Lamb!” He speaks here of Jesus as that perfect, sinless, substitute who would die in our place as taking away the “sin” not sins of the world. I believe he is referring to the one unforgivable sin John 16:8 "And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: 9 "of sin, because they do not believe in Me; have you believed On him and trusted in him, if not do it today.        Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?              John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. They went out and immediately got into the boat, and that night they caught nothing. 4 But when the morning had now come, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 Then Jesus said to them, "Children, have you any food?" They answered Him, "No." 6 And He said to them, "Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some." So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish. 7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment (for he had removed it), and plunged into the sea. 8 But the other disciples came in the little boat (for they were not far from land, but about two hundred cubits), dragging the net with fish. 9 Then, as soon as they had come to land, they saw a fire of coals there, and fish laid on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish which you have just caught." 11 Simon Peter went up and dragged the net to land, full of large fish, one hundred and fifty-three; and although there were so many, the net was not broken. This Chapter is here for 5 reasons:1.         Helps us understand Peters prominent position in the church2.         How are we to relate to the risen Christ3.         Give us a Balance between Nurturing the saved and winning the lost4.         Refutes the false rumor that Jesus coming back before John died5.         Clear expression of how to love Christ.  If you love me keep my commandmentsWe are blessed by Laboring with the Lord.  The disciples have learned how to cooperate with one another and how to obey Jesus. What examples for us to follow as we seek to “catch fish” for Jesus Christ! There are “fish” all around us. Send us a text                 Mark begins by telling us that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that He was a messenger of the Gospel, but also fully God. He then tells us about the prophesied John the Baptist who is only listed as a messenger with a voice.  John was sent to prepare the way for Jesus and introduce Him to the world. One man said John was just a newspaper boy saying read all about it, Jesus is coming.  John was just the messenger, not the message.  It is all about Jesus.  He tells them to make His paths straight. When a king was coming they would straighten all the roads, remove all the valleys, and make a clear path for them to enter the area.  This means we are to clean up our life, straighten out all the crooked things we are doing and make it easy for King Jesus to lead us and guide us in the way we should go. Of course this can only be done when Jesus is on the throne of our life.  Who is on your throne?          Mark 1:1-3 The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. 2 As it is written in the Prophets: "Behold, I send My messenger before Your face, Who will prepare Your way before You." 3 "The voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight.'"       Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. John does not give us any genealogy, no birth narrative, no manger scene, he just cuts to the heart of the matter when he introduces the book with the statement that in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God.  And if that is not enough in verse two he repeats it again.  In verse three we see that Jesus created everything.  Have you considered the wonderful ways our world works together, the beauty and order of it all? I remember the food chain the solar system, and the hydrological cycle from school, but it really comes alive when you see the beauty and wonder of it all by looking at it through the lens of the Bible. This verse helps you to see the world through the lens of creation rather than the lie of evolution.  When you see a watch you know someone made it, it is the same with everything in our world and universe, without a creator it would not exist and it amazes me how you could see it all and believe that it HAPPENED by chance.                                In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being (John 1:1-3) NO way it happened by chance. Send us a textThe disciples keep on telling Thomas that they have seen Jesus, but Thomas refuses to believe unless he sees for himself.  Remember he is only asking for what the others have already experienced.  Now Jesus makes a personal appearance 8 days later for Thomas. Jesus offers for Thomas to put his finger in His side & hands.  Then Thomas makes that greatest of all confessions of faith when He says My Lord my God. Jesus tells Thomas because He saw believed, but the blessing comes for those have faith. He finishes up the chapter by giving us the purpose statement of the whole book of John. Send us a textMatthew 28:18-20 says And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew has wanted us to understand the authority of Jesus throughout his whole Gospel.  Now that Jesus has been resurrected and done all that He was tasked with to forgive us and save us that authority is in full force.  The disciples had a limited task of sharing the Gospel with Israel before this time and now the time for them and all believers to go and make disciples has been started.  This means we are to share the Good News, the Gospel that is in 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, that Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection is what paid for our sins.              In Luke 24:44-46 Jesus reminds His disciples of all that He has taught them concerning His fulfilling all that was written in the 3 major divisions of the Old Testament, namely the Law, the Prophets, and the Psalms.  He tells them that this fulfillment was a necessity. He then opens their understanding of the scriptures which means He through the Holy Spirit gave them full understanding of all that He taught them concerning why He had to suffer, die, be buried and rise the third day.  Do you know why Jesus had to do these things?  It was so we could be saved.  Unless He accomplished all of these things we could never be saved (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).  That is why when people add to this and say anything else saves you they are to be considered as heretics.  Jesus paid it all. Note this, He again did what we talked about yesterday in explaining the Scriptures.  Unless it is explained and the Holy Spirit gives us understanding we will never understand. Send us a textJesus says that when His disciples go with the message of salvation, some people will believe & others will not. Reaction to their ministry would be the same as reaction to His had been. He viewed their forgiving & retaining the sins of their hearers as the actions of God's agents. If anyone believed the Gospel, they could tell the believers that God had forgiven their sins. If they disbelieved, they could tell them that God had not forgiven but retained their sins. Jesus had done this & now His disciples would continue to do it. Their ministry would be a continuation of His ministry. Send us a textMatthew 27:50 says And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.  Here we see Jesus crying out in agony in taking the sin debt of all humanity on Himself.  Then as He has done all that was needed in order for our sins to be forgiven He gives up His life.  No one took it from Him, He gave it up for our sins.  At this point the veil of the temple tears from top to bottom to show the way to heaven through Christ was open to all. Many Old Testament saints came out of the graves as a picture of the future resurrection of all believers. Then the most incredible thing happened, the soldiers and others witnessing this came to the conclusion and publicly testified for the first time the point that Matthew has been trying to get across in all of his gospel and what God wants us to understand, that Jesus truly was the Son of God. Send us a text                   Psalm 31:14 says But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD, I say, “You are my God.” David didn't care what anyone else was saying about him or doing, all he cared about was his relationship with the Lord.  He trusted God no matter what they said about him, did to him, or anything else that happened in life.  Is that the way we live?  In the hymn Though None Go With Me, India Tribal leaders persecuted the man and his family and ordered him to renounce his faith. He replied, "I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back." The chief ordered the execution of the man's children, but the man said, "Though no one joins me, still I will follow."                      Luke 24:27 says Then beginning with Moses and with all the prophets, Jesus explained to them the things concerning Himself in all the Scriptures. Jesus on the road to Emmaus gave these privileged disciples a short course on finding Christ in the Old Testament. Can you imagine being a part of what they heard?  Every part of Scripture points to Jesus, from the beginning to the end.  He may have explained to them the parts where it said He had to suffer and die in order that salvation could be accomplished. We don't know, but we know that their hearts were burning within them from the things that He told them. Christ here gives us a pattern which is to be followed by all who teach the word.  He took passages and explained them to those He was with.  That is Biblical Exposition or what we call Expository Preaching/Teaching. It is taking the scriptures word by word, verse by verse and explaining the meaning and context of each passage within each chapter contained in each book which make up context of the whole Bible. Those who skip over verses, words, or passages are cheating us of all that we should learn.  It is not about how much you go through, but how much goes into you and I. Send us a textThe 7th day, the Sabbath, honors God's finished work of Creation. The Lord's Day honors Christ's finished work of redemption, the 'new creation.' God the Father worked for 6 days & then rested. God the Son suffered on the cross for 6 hours & then rested. The Jewish Sabbath is 6 days of work, & then you rest. But the Lord's Day, the 1st day of the week, gives grace: 1st there is faith in the living Christ, & then there will be works. The Lord also transforms His disciples fear into courage. 1st, not only did He come to them, but He comforted them. Lastly, Jesus gives them a new purpose. The purpose of Jesus' incarnation was the salvation of the world (1:29). Send us a textMatthew 26:55-56 says In that hour Jesus said to the multitudes, "Have you come out, as against a robber, with swords and clubs to take Me? I sat daily with you, teaching in the temple, and you did not seize Me. 56 "But all this was done that the Scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled." Then all the disciples forsook Him and fled.  Notice Jesus did not fight or try to resist this group of probably about 1200 people made up of Roman soldiers, Jewish leaders, and citizens. They wanted Jesus killed because He was not the God they thought they saw in the Old Testament. But their God is not the God of the Old Testament who revealed every single prophecy fulfilled in Jesus Christ's first coming. It is the God of the Old Testament who spoke about the seed of a woman in Genesis 3, it's the God of the Old Testament who talked about one who would be crucified, pierced, and wounded for the offences of His people in Isaiah 53. Every single prophecy in the Old Testament fulfilled in Jesus Christ is a point at which you either confirm God as speaking the truth, or lying. You cannot reject Christ and say God speaks the truth. It was God who said this is My Beloved Son. If that's not His Son, God's a liar. If you don't believe that Jesus is the Son of God, then God lied. So don't come with some kind of superior statement about, “Well I believe in God, I believe in the true God, I just reject Christ.” No, if you reject Christ, then you are saying that God is a liar. Send us a textNote that our Lord's first appearance is not to one of the 11 disciples, but to Mary Magdalene. She will never be one of the apostles. She will never write a Gospel. She will never become a great preacher or leader. Nevertheless, our Lord chose to manifest Himself to her first. Why do you think this was? First, she had a great love for her Master, as He did for her. Second, she seemed to be the one with the greatest measure of grief. “Blessed are those who mourn, because they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:4). There is a third reason: Mary was there first. Jesus revealed Himself first to the one who was there first. Mary came to the tomb early, because of her great love, and her great grief, and Jesus revealed Himself to her, first. Fourthly, I think that it was because she was a woman and He always appears to those who are the most downtrodden.        Asaph wrote Psalms 77:12-13 which says I will meditate also of all thy work, and talk of thy doings. Your way, O God, is holy; What god is great like our God? The Psalmist Asaph was discouraged and so he began to reflect on how great God is.  He concentrated on all the good things God had done for His people in the past.  This is how we grow in our faith, we remember the past and know that God will be good to us and help us in the future. Asaph remembers all the great deeds and miracles God did even in spite of their unworthiness to receive what He had done.               2 Samuel 12:16-23 is a great hope for those who have lost little children who have not yet come to the age of accountability where they have had a chance to receive or reject Christ as Savior. In this section we see David praying and fasting in the hopes that the child would not die. The child dies and the servants are afraid to tell David because of how he has responded to the sickness.  David finally realizes the child must have died and asks the servants.  They say yes and then David goes, cleans himself up, and goes to the house of the Lord to worship Him.  The servants wonder what is going on and ask David and he tells them that as long as there was hope he fasted and prayed, but now that the child is dead he knows that it is in heaven and is okay.  He knows that the child cannot come back to him, but one day because David was an Old Testament believer he will see the child in heaven. He then comforts Bathsheba, the mother.                                                                    This is such a comfort to know those little ones are in heaven if you have lost a child and that they are better off there than they would have been here.  It still hurts, but we that believe know that one day we will see that child again. Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”                               2 Samuel 12:16-24a David therefore pleaded with God for the child, and David fasted and went in and lay all night on the ground. 17 So the elders of his house arose and went to him, to raise him up from the ground. But he would not, nor did he eat food with them. 18 Then on the seventh day it came to pass that the child died. And the servants of David were afraid to tell him that the child was dead. For they said, "Indeed, while the child was alive, we spoke to him, and he would not heed our voice. How can we tell him that the child is dead? He may do some harm!" 19 When David saw that his servants were whispering, David perceived that the child was dead. Therefore, David said to his servants, "Is the child dead?" And they said, "He is dead." 20 So David arose from the ground, washed and anointed himself, and changed his clothes; and he went into the house of the LORD and worshiped. Then he went to his own house; and when he requested, they set food before him, and he ate. 21 Then his servants said to him, "What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child died, you arose and ate food." 22 And he said, "While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, 'Who can tell whether the LORD will be gracious to me, that the child may live?' 23 "But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? Send us a text         Matthew 26:27-28 says And when He had taken a cup and given thanks, He gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you; for this is My blood of the covenant, which is being poured out for many for forgiveness of sins. Jesus is establishing the New Covenant whereby people no longer go to a priest to ask for forgiveness of sins, but to the Great High Priest Jesus who died for all of our sins and in our place so that we might go to heaven.  This cup of water mixed with wine symbolized Jesus' shedding His blood on the cross for our sins. His dying on the cross was sufficient to forgive us and save us because as He was dying it says in Isaiah 53:6 All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. God was pouring His wrath out on Jesus for our sins.  Jesus died for OUR SINS. Right before Jesus died He said it is finished.  That means our sin debt has been paid in full and when we come to Jesus and ask Him to forgive us of our sins and save us we can become a Child of God.                   In Luke 23:13-25 Pilate has examined Jesus and says neither He nor Herod found any fault in Jesus.  Yet, who do the people want released, but a murderer named Barabbas.  His name means son of the Father, so the murdering son of the father is released in place of JESUS THE TRUE SON OF THE FATHER. This is a picture of what Jesus has done for us.  We are the ones who deserve death and hell, yet God sent His Son to take our place on the cross. Isn't this a glorious and wonderful truth that we can be forgiven, or have been forgiven if we have trusted in Christ no matter what we have done in the past.  The Father is always willing to forgive, save, and one day give us all that the Son has purchased for us. Jesus was our substitute, He died in our place, the just for the unjust. Thank God today for what He did through Jesus Christ His Son.                 Luke 23:13-25 Then Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests, the rulers, and the people, 14 said to them, "You have brought this Man to me, as one who misleads the people. Send us a text               In Matthew 25:36-41 we see Jesus sitting on His throne and judging all the peoples of the earth.  This shows it is not like we grew up hearing that we will all be standing in line to see if we make it to heaven based on whether we did more good than bad.  Instead we see Jesus immediately separating (His People the sheep) from the goats (unbelievers).  The sheep do not get in because of their good works, the Bible makes that clear.  They get in because they have trusted in Christ as their Savior and the good works they do are a result, not the reason of their having been saved.  The goats are those who never trusted Christ and will end up in hell.  They are not there because they didn't do enough good, but because of who they did not believe in Christ. John 3:17 "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.              God has only one way of doing things, that is the way He prescribes.  Oftentimes we try to accomplish God's will using whatever methods we think best or worst of all we do it like the world would do it.  When God wants something done He wants it done the way He says and if not then it will not accomplish His will.  I remember a guy who told me one day he was glad I was not telling him it was my way or the highway.  I told him that a person who designs something makes it to work only one way and it will not work if it is done any other way.  It is the same with God, He designed things a certain way, gave us the instruction book (the Bible) to tell us how to do it and the Holy Spirit to guide us and lead us.  So, I told him it was never my way, I was only trying to teach what the Bible said, it is God's way or the highway, anything else is not right.  Which highway are we on, ours or God's? In times past some had considerable responsibility and authority as some do today.  Others are not gifted in such a way as to be able to do all the things others do, but are still expected to use what they have to the best of their ability.  God expects us to become His children, trust Him, and use all that He gives us in such a way that it will bring glory to Him and bring others to Christ.  We have to ask ourselves are we first of all a child of the King?  Then we have to ask are we using all that God has given us in such a way that we can hear what was said in Matthew 25:21 "His lord said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things.                  In 2 Samuel Chapters 3-5 we see how David grows stronger and stronger and eventually becomes the King over all of Israel and rules for 40 years.  It was not God's plan for them to have a king, but if they were to have a king it should be a man like David who wanted to please God.  He was very flawed and made many mistakes, but God used him anyway as He does with us.  The reason David grew stronger and stronger was because God was behind it all.  When a man, a ministry, or a church is the plan God is going to use to do His will there is no use in anyone trying to stop it.  God's plans can never be thwarted and He will accomplish what He wants.  He will use us as long as we are available and seeking His will for our lives. It is amazing the people that God uses to do His will, most of whom are not thought of as the people that God would use.  Are we one of those people who God wants to use?  Are we seeking Him with our whole heart and desiring His will for our lives and the lives of His people? Let us seek Him today and see what He wants to do in our lives and those around us.            2 Samuel 3:1 Now there was a long war between the house of Saul and the house of David. Send us a textOn this first day of the week Mary goes to the tomb & seeing the stone has been moved decides that they have stolen the body of Jesus. She goes & gets Peter & John & they come running. John glances in, Peter looks a little harder & is puzzled because he sees the grave wrappings lying there in their proper place. This day that seems to be the worst ever in that not only has Jesus died, but they have stolen His body too. It is actually the best day ever because this is the day that Jesus rose from the grave, proved He was God, & showed that He had done everything necessary to pay for the sins of the whole world. This is the Good News, the Gospel (1Corinthians 15:3-4).            Here we see the secret disciples come forward when all the others have forsaken Jesus. They come at the perfect time so the last of the prophecies can be fulfilled Isaiah 53:9. Jesus gets a burial fit for a King with 100 pounds of very expensive spices, because He is King Jesus & one day will come back to rule & reign. They are running out of time to get Jesus in the grave before the Sabbath starts & so the 3 days & 3 nights can be fulfilled. They use the closest available tomb which happens to be Joseph of Arimathea's. It is done, it is finished, all that is left is for Jesus to come out of the grave & show that He is truly God as if all the miracles He has done is not enough. Send us a text          Jesus said in Matthew 24:42-46 "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. Verse 42 applies all that Jesus said beginning in verse 32. His disciples need to remain watchful because the exact time of the His return is unknown even though signs of His coming will point out His approach. Jesus continued instructing His disciples but here He stressed the importance of caution and faithfulness as He prepared them for His return. This is a warning for us to be ready for the Lord Jesus to come back.  He could come at any time for His church. Then the Great Tribulation will start and when He comes some will be those who are Christians and are carrying out His will while they wait for His return.  These are the ones who will receive a reward when He comes back.  He goes on in the next verses to describe the unbeliever (unsaved) person who is doing whatever they want to do and will experience God's wrath when He comes back.  Which one are you?          Matthew 24:42-46 "Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. 43 "But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. 44 "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. 45 "Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? 46 "Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing.       Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.               In Luke 22 we see Jesus telling the disciples all that they would go through leading up to and after His death on the cross.  He also says that they will deny Him. Peter says he will never do that, but will die for Jesus.  We know that Jesus says Peter will deny Him 3 times and then will be strengthened through the prayers of Jesus to come back and be the leader again of the disciples.  Lastly, we see Peter along with the rest of the disciples is sleeping while Jesus is praying to the Father about going to the cross.  Jesus tells them to rise and pray lest they enter into temptation.  So, we see Peter and the rest of the disciples deserting Jesus and Peter especially fails as Jesus predicted. Why is this?  Because they did not do what they should have been doing, Praying! Why do we fail, because we are instructed to pray to God to not let us be tempted and to pass the test when they do come.  The Bible over and over says we will be tempted, but God will give us the strength to endure if we will only ask and be prepared for those times.  Are we praying and are we prepared?  What verses do you have memorized to help you when the devil comes with his lies and deceit?  That is what Jesus did when tempted, He used the scriptures.  Let us be always ready and not fail and fall when temptation comes our way. Luke 22:31-34,46 And the Lord said, "Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 "But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren." 33 But he said to Him, "Lord, I am ready to go with You, both to prison and to death." 34 Then He said, "I tell you, Peter, the rooster shall not crow this day before you will deny three times that you know Me.", 46 Then He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Send us a textIn Matthew 24:35 Jesus said "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. Jesus was telling His disciples what the signs would be before He would come back and all the things that would happen.  Then He tells them of the certainty of all this happening with the words in this verse.  With these words He is claiming that all of His predictions have the same authority and legitimacy as God's words because He is God.  It says in Hebrew 1:1-2 God, who at different times and in many ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son (Jesus), whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; Do you trust the scriptures and what is said in them?  You should, God has spoken and we need to have ears to hear and also be doers of the word.  Let us be diligent to do this today and every day.          Matthew 24:35 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.        Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. He suffered 3 hours spiritually when it was dark & He was taking our hell for us as our substitute during that time period. Send us a text2 Timothy 2:15-16 says Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 16 But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness. I believe it is easier today for people to be deceived even though we have so much access to Bibles, study materials, and sermons because people in most cases don't avail themselves of the resources that are available.  Yes, you have to be discerning in who you listen to and where you get your study materials because there are so many out there that are out in left field where the Bible is concerned.  Many preachers today are not preaching the Bible word for word and taking the time to explain things to their congregations.  It is getting harder and harder to find a church with a preacher like that.  But in spite of all that it is our job to find the best church we can and support it or start one that we can support.  It is also our job to make sure we know what we believe and why we believe it.  With all that is out there we have no excuse.  If you need some help I will be glad to guide you to some people and places where you can know you are being taught correctly. Matthew 24:4 And Jesus answered and said to them: "Take heed that no one deceives you.       Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. Send us a textJohn 19:24 They said therefore among themselves, "Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be," that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says: "They divided My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots." Therefore the soldiers did these things. 25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus His mother, and His mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw His mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, He said to His mother, "Woman, behold your son!" 27 Then He said to the disciple, "Behold your mother!" And from that hour that disciple took her to his own home.                We see more Scripture being fulfilled through Jesus and all that He does and has done to Him while on the cross. These cold callous soldiers are gambling for His garments as He is on the cross suffering the most cruel death ever devised up to that time.  All they can see is we are getting some material goods out of this deal.  Meanwhile Jesus is paying for the sins of the whole world. There are 4 soldiers who are cruel and they are contrasted by 4 loving women who have been there for Jesus and still are as He dies. The last thing Jesus does as He is dying is to give us the example to take care of the widows.                 In Luke 21 right after the woman gives in the temple, the disciples comment on the beauty of the temple and Jesus begins to tell them that the temple and all will be destroyed.  He gives them the signs of what is going to happen and a way to determine it is coming.  He tells them that we need to persevere as Christians during these difficult times and not to fail and fall because of the difficulties.  He then tells them that all of these things, that is all He has created will pass away, but His word the Bible and all that He spoke to them will never fail or go away.  In all the difficulties that seem to be getting worse and worse, aren't you thankful that you can trust in the Word of God?  It is like the little boy who was reading a book and the hero was in trouble and his mother called him to lunch.  He said hold on a minute and he looked to the end of the book and saw that the hero was okay.  We too can turn to the end of the Bible and read it and know that it will turn out exactly like Jesus (God) said it would and trust in Him that all will be okay in the end.  Amen! “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away. Send us a text          Psalm 26:2-4 says Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; Try my mind and my heart. 3 For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes, And I have walked in Your truth. 4 I have not sat with idolatrous mortals, Nor will I go in with hypocrites. Have we done as David did and invited the Lord to examine our innermost motives, thoughts, and what we stand for? David did and could say before the Lord and others that he knew how loving the Lord is. He could also say that he had walked in a proper manner according to God's word. David knew he was not guilty of what others had said about him and he asked God to vindicate him.  David had not been hanging out with the immoral and hypocritical people and making a mockery of who God is.  Can we ask God as David did to search us and try us and see if there is any wicked way in us knowing that it is not so? Send us a textIn a 24‑hour period leading up to and including His death on the cross there were 28 specific Old Testament prophecies fulfilled to the letter, and in addition to that, there were many types fulfilled. When Jesus came to earth, He fulfilled over 300 prophecies and the probability that one Person could do this is impossible, unless you are God as Jesus is. Jesus is placed in the center as He is the focus of attention. It is amazing how many three's there are in the Bible. There are three being crucified and three titles for Jesus over His head which are actually the crime He was being killed for. The three titles are written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin to show that all of us are guilty of sin and thus all of us put Jesus on that cross, meaning we all need a Savior. The Jews get upset about the title 'The King of the Jews', but Pilate is really telling us who Jesus really is.  Have you trusted Jesus as your Lord and Savior?  If not, why not today?  Rom 10:9-13 - Ro 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.  10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame." 12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. 13 For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved." Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.              This familiar story in Luke 21 gives us a few things we should take away from it.  First, it is not how much you give, it is the heart with which you give it.  Secondly, did that gift you gave cost you anything?  In other words, was it something that you sacrificed or gave up to give? Thirdly, we see that the system was set up so that it literally trumpeted the amount someone was giving as the money flowed down the tube making noise.  I still believe the Bible teaches that we should give God at least 10% of everything we have including our time and abilities.  So, I guess the question is what do we do with our time, abilities, and money?  Are we giving God all that we should because we love Him and want to honor and serve Him with all that we have? If not, why not? Send us a textThe Jews have backed Pilate into a corner at this point. It is a matter of Jesus claiming to be King and there can be only one King in Rome. He can either save his soul or his life. If He turns Jesus loose, he loses his life, if He crucifies Him, it will be his soul. So, Pilate asks where Jesus is from, but Jesus knows it is too late for Pilate, he has already said he doesn't care about truth and so He does not answer him. It is a bad place to be when you have rejected God for so long, that He refuses to speak to you anymore. Pilate lets Jesus know that he is powerful and can let him go or he can have him crucified and Jesus speaks one more time. He lets Pilate know that He only has power because God has granted it to him. Then He lets Pilate know that his sin is less than that of the one who delivered Jesus up and I believe He is speaking about Judas. The Bible speaks of degrees of sin and degrees of reward. Hell won't be the same for everyone, just as Heaven won't. The Gospel and Justification The Gospel is the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16). All have sinned and are guilty before God (Chapters 1-3). David and Abraham were justified by faith, not by works (Chapter 4). Justification provides 11 benefits of trusting Christ (Chapter 5). Emphasis on the love and grace of God in sending Christ for sinners. Justification by Faith Verse 1: Justification brings peace with God through Jesus Christ. Justification refers to being declared righteous, as if one never sinned. It is a once-for-all verdict based on faith in Christ. Benefits of Justification Peace with God Trusting Christ ends the war between God and humans (James 4:4). Believers can find peace in all situations (Philippians 4:6-7). Access to God Believers have been ushered into the presence of God (Ephesians 2:18). This access signifies safety and an ongoing relationship with God. Standing before God Believers enjoy a secure position in God's grace (Ephesians 2:13). They hold a privileged status as God's special people. Rejoicing in Hope Christians boast in the hope of God's glory, unlike worldly boasting. Hope is a confident expectation grounded in faith. Glory in Tribulations Believers can rejoice in trials as they lead to growth and strength. Difficulty does not negate hope or promise of glory in the future. Growth Through Trials Tribulations produce perseverance, character, and hope (Romans 5:3-4). Character is developed through testing, akin to refining metal. Hope remains firm because of God's love, which the Holy Spirit has poured into believers' hearts (Romans 5:5). The Love of God God's love is given to believers through the Holy Spirit. This love provides strength during trials and tribulations. The Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit indicates salvation and provides peace and strength. Transition from faith to hope to love is significant in the believer's life. Christ's Sacrifice Christ died for helpless sinners, showing God's love (Romans 5:6-8). His love was demonstrated while believers were still in sin. Pardon from Wrath Justification changes a believer's status (righteous) and state (becoming more like Christ). If God justified sinners, he is certainly able to save them from future wrath (Romans 5:9-10). Argument of 'how much more' is used to emphasize the assurance of salvation and reconciliation with God through Christ. Before We Were Enemies with God We have reconciliation with God through Jesus' death and atoning work. Reconciliation focuses on restoring the relationship between two previously opposing parties. Colossians 1:19-22 emphasizes that we were once alienated and enemies but are now reconciled through Jesus' death. The passage stresses that we are the offending party, not God. Human hostility towards God is active and personal, despite professing love for Him. Salvation Through Christ's Life We are saved not only by Jesus' death but also by His resurrection. Hebrews 7:25 states that Jesus intercedes for us, saving those who come to God through Him. Paul discusses how, if we were reconciled as enemies, we will be completely saved by Christ's resurrected life. Salvation is present and future because Christ is alive and actively saving us. Joy in God and from God Habakkuk 3:18 encourages rejoicing in the God of salvation. Our joy comes from God's grace, not our own merit (Psalms 45:7). Believers can rejoice now due to reconciliation, which brings about a relationship with God characterized by righteousness and life. Romans 14:17 explains the kingdom of God involves righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit. Rejoice in God In light of present circumstances (Romans 5:1-5): We have peace with God now. We have a sure hope. In light of the foundation of salvation (Romans 5:6-8): Human love is fickle. God's love is sacrificial. In light of the bright future (Romans 5:9-11): We will not face God's wrath. We will be saved by His life. We have reconciliation now. Illustration: Clarity in God's Message Fog can obscure our view and make us feel isolated. Historical example of British troops misunderstanding a message during a fog: initial message was despairful but later revealed victory. Similar misinterpretations occurred with the message of Jesus' death. Romans 8:37 reminds us we are more than conquerors through Christ's love, urging us to live in His power. Conclusion Chapter 5 of Romans emphasizes faith, love, access to God, and the hope found in the Gospel.   What are your eyes fixed on?                  In Psalm 73 we see the writer has taken his eyes off of God and put them on the world and what he perceives is going on.  It is easy sometimes to look around and see what the wicked are doing and it looks like everything is going their way and they are living the good life in spite of the evil they do. They reject God and think that He cannot and will not do anything to them for the way they are living. This Psalmist was not looking in the right place as we often don't either.  He finally goes into the temple of God and is shown the end of these wicked people.  He sees that it might look like they have it all now, but unfortunately this is the best that it will ever be for them.  They may get it all now, but pay later as the Midas commercial used to say.  You can pay me now or you can pay me later.  We who trust in Christ may suffer for following Him now, but it will be worth it all in the end as Romans 8:18 says, For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. The Psalmist is ashamed of himself for thinking all of these things and doubting the goodness of God.  Let us not be like this Psalmist who got his eyes on the world and was disillusioned, but let us be like him in the last part of the Psalm where he says in verses 25-26 Whom have I in heaven but You? And there is none upon earth that I desire besides You. 26 My flesh and my heart fail; But God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Amen!!           Surely God is good to Israel, To those who are pure in heart! Send us a textHere we see how the Romans would pacify the Jews by releasing someone convicted of crimes to them on the Passover.  Pilate hopes he can finally get Jesus set free and His blood off his hands.  But the Jews have outmaneuvered Pilate again and they have told the crowd to ask for Barabbas the robber.  Pilate scourges Jesus, mocks Him, puts a crown of thorns on His head, and a Kingly purple robe on Him and yet the crowd still will not feel sorry for Jesus, they want him killed.  He finally tells them to behold the Man, in other words look at this pitiful fellow, don't you want Him to be released and they cry out Crucify Him, Crucify Him.  Then for the second time Pilate tells them I find no fault in Him.  Jesus has done nothing wrong for Him to be convicted of and especially crucified, so Pilate says if you want Him crucified, you do it. Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?             John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.
