Police say Bay of Plenty Mongrel Mob boss Steven Taiatini died after being hit by a ute. Investigators believe a Holden Colorado 4 wheel drive found gutted by a fire on the outskirts of town at the weekend was the vehicle involved. Hundreds of gang members attended the 45 year old's nehu in Whakatane yesterday, with police maintaining a large presence in the area today. Finn Blackwell reports.

Triton's a quiet achiever with decent performance and a proven track record of good reliability and support - unlike most other utes in the market Save thousands on any new car (Australia-only): https://autoexpert.com.au/contact You can help support the channel, securely via PayPal: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=DSL9A3MWEMNBW&source=url Full review on my blog: https://autoexpert.com.au/posts/mitsubishi-triton-review-buyers-guide The current model Mitsubishi 'L200' Triton is one of two 4x4 utes I routinely recommend and this one is even better than before thanks to a mid-life makeover. The Triton is number three 4x4 ute in the country behind the Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger, but is ahead of the Holden Colorado. Since the Triton began production 40 years ago they’ve managed to sell 4.7 million units. It’s a profound automotive success any way you carve that figure. The first thing about Triton is its nice, tractable 2.4-lite turbo diesel engine Pricing and features make the Triton worth a good look, as does the long warranty and extended service interval. I get complaints about plenty of utes, from owners getting hung out to dry - typically Rangers and Colorados. Triton is the exact opposite. The few complaints I've had over Triton in the past few years were mainly dealers behaving badly - once they were made aware, Mitsubishi Motors resolved them pretty quickly.

Mitch then brings up news about the Australian Government introducing new motor vehicles standards in-line with Euro cars. They are introducing laws to force all new cars to have alcohol/breatherlisers and drug testers in the car which will stop the car from driving if they test postive for drugs and/or alvohol. Joseph then talks about all new electric cars being launched in the E.U must emit a noise comparable to ICE vehicles up to 20Kph. The difference between air lockers and eLockers is one of the most popular discussion points on the 4x4earth forum, so we decided to get an expert in to discuss the difference. Heath is the General Manager at Harrop Engineering. He drives a Harrop Superado, an Holden Colorado with an upgunned V8 Harrop supercharger engine. Harrop was started in 1955 by Len Harrop in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. His son had the Harrop Howler, a very fast quarter miler. Heath talks about how Harrop has transitioned about from supporting the Australian vehicle manufacturing industry to exporting components for vehicles like the Toyota Tundra. We discuss what exactly an eLocker is and how it works with the diff. Heath talks about how the eLocker passes the 300,000 km durability testing. Originally developed by Eaton for the military, the eLocker is designed for reliability and durability. An electromagnet is actuated to engage the diff locking mechanism. Harrop has developed a range of 4 pinion designs for a large range of vehicles. The gears, splines and internal housings are manufactured in Australia. We talk about what kinds of driving conditions and tracks you would use a selectable locker for. We also talk about the difference between front and rear lockers and when you would choose either. We discuss the next innovations for Harrop, like the PX3. How hard is an eLocker to fit? We look at whether it is a DIY solution or if it should be fitted professionally. A great Aussie manufacturing story with some great innovation and big export wins.
