Jill and Tom open a content-packed episode by welcoming the BMW M5 Touring to Tom's driveway. Expect to hear much more about this practical super-car in future episodes. Producer Margaret then shares details of her recent interview of Chicago-based radio reporter/journalist Jennifer Keiper, a peer of Jill's and Tom's. Jennifer lost her most recent position in the radio industry as CBS News wound down its broadcast operations. You can listen to that interview here. Tom share a list of the countries in which the Car Stuff Podcast is most popular, and it's rather surprising. Still in the first segment, Tom shares bad news for folks waiting to purchase a 2026 Toyota RAV4. The all-new compact crossover is in high-demand, and redesign rollover constraints have limited supply. Jill says the small crossover is worth the wait. The hosts also discuss slumping Lucid sales, and the most-popular model names of all time. In the second segment, the hosts welcome Jeep Vice President of Design Vince Galante to the show. Vince walked Jill and Tom trough all of the news surrounding the return of the compact Cherokee crossover to the Jeep lineup. Listen in for details. In the last segment, Jill is subjected to Tom's "Was it an Oldsmobile?" quiz, complete with a popular franchise-opportunity bonus question. Jill also reviews the all-new Subaru Uncharted small crossover EV.           Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. This week Tom opens the show clarifying the difference between mild-hybrid and full-hybrid applications. Tom notes that mild hybrid drivetrains are found mostly on European luxury vehicles. In advance of chatting with Scout Motors' Ryan Decker, Jill and Tom discuss how few all-new car brands have been launched in the past 25 years. Listen in for a list. Still in the first segment, the hosts are joined by fellow automotive journalist Ed Piotrowski. Ed attended the 2026 Midwest Automotive Media Association Spring Rally, and wrote a comparison review of four compact crossovers: The Jeep Cherokee, Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4, and Volkswagen Tiguan. There's big news here, as for 2026 the Jeep and Toyota are all new--and now hybrid only--the Mazda is redesigned, and the VW has been treated to an updated powertrain. Listen in for Ed's insights. In the second segment, the hosts are Joined by Scout Motors Vice President of Strategy and Branding Ryan Decker. Ryan shares details regarding Scout's position in the market place, the products themselves, and what to expect regarding Scout's direct-to-consumer sales plan. In the last segment, Jill is subjected to Tom's "Is it still being built?" quiz. After the quiz Jill talks a little about the redesigned Subaru Outback Wilderness, with which she recently spent time.   Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.

HOUR 3 - The third hour of the WORD Talkline addressed controversial national issues, covering debates over Birthright Citizenship, the push for closed primaries, Jaden Ivey's alleged release over Pride month posts, and Nancy Pelosi's warnings regarding R full 00:00 Well, for this Good Friday, President Trump has actually put, could you imagine this happening under Joe Biden or Barack Hussein Obama? I Joe Biden was supposed to be this devout Catholic, Although he was pro-abortion and all of that. uh President Trump put up a picture of Jesus in the White House, in the Oval Office. He unveiled it. And it was so cool because 00:29 It was the same picture and probably, and I'm not alone on this, I guarantee you, but it was the same picture that my grandmother had in our dining room since basically the day I was born. It was that same picture and it was so very cool to see. um Could you imagine? Well, let's give you an example. And we talked about the Muslim. 00:59 invasion a lot. Charles. 01:04 has refused. 01:07 to give an Easter message to the nation. Now this is something Queen Elizabeth never refused. She always gave, she gave uh a Christmas speech, she gave a New Year speech, she gave an Easter speech. And here's her bonehead son refusing to 01:28 to give an Easter speech. But what speech did he give? 01:34 He gave a speech for Ramadan. 01:40 The monarch of England, the Regis, is supposed to be the defender of the faith. After all, they're the head of the Church of England. And what does old Charles, listen, I'm about, here's what I want to happen with the monarchy. I want Charles to go away. I wouldn't William and Kate being king and queen for a little while. 02:09 Once we see that coronation, then the whole thing can just go away. Because England is gone. You can forget about that. They're saying the English countryside, if you go to the Cotswolds or uh we went to Devon, stayed in a beautiful uh working farm in Devon when we went on vacation a few years ago, it was absolutely wonderful. The English countryside is magnificent. It really is. 02:37 But according to a lot of liberals in England, there's a little something wrong with it. It's just, it's too white. It's too white. 02:48 We gotta get more people of color in there. We gotta get more Muslims. 02:55 in the countryside of England. And in order to get, I'm not even making this up, in order to attract more Muslims to the English countryside, 03:09 There are members of parliament that are asking for people to stop walking their dogs. 03:17 Because in Islam, dogs are haram. 03:22 So they want English citizens born there their whole lives to give up walking their dogs so that immigrants can feel more comfortable in the countryside. That's just the dangest thing I've ever seen in my life. But hey, we're no better. We're no better. 03:51 Listen to this. There's a couple of Somali fraudsters out there. Two of these Somali fraudsters stole taxpayer money. So a second Somali fraudster who stole half a million dollars was handed a mere six months in jail by a Minneapolis judge. Just six months. That is one day after her co-conspirator was sentenced to a year. 04:21 Zamzam Jama was ordered to pay back $491,000 and will spend half a year in jail for her role in the Feeding Our Future scandal. Six months, that's all they got. This judge, Nancy Brazell, gave her co-conspirator, Abdul Abu Bakar Ali, a one-year sentence. 04:47 Neither one of these women are going to serve anywhere near that amount of time. Jamal and Aba Khar are just two of the dozens of fraudsters in the case. Jama is the first of six in her family to be sentenced. The whole stinking family has been arrested. The Jama family ran their scheme out of the Brava Restaurant and Cafe in Rochester, Minnesota. 05:14 The Jama family has been accused of stealing $5.6 million of taxpayer money by claiming to feed children. Jama used the money to buy a $480,000 home in Rosemont and a Toyota RAV4 with the stolen money. Those possessions, as well as $150,000, have been seized from her bank account. Her family members have pleaded guilty and are awaiting the sentencing. Jama is... 05:41 Only the eighth defendant to be sentenced in the case. Think Mardi Gras begins and ends on Bourbon Street? We hit the road to map the best celebrations across Texas—Galveston's towering floats and nighttime crowds, Beaumont's growing footprint with room for families, Texas City's daytime routes, Seguin's golf cart charm, and San Antonio's Fiesta Texas makeover that turns the whole park purple, green, and gold. We also spotlight the small-town sparkle of Jefferson and Alvin, then head waterside for Kema, where lit-up boats parade past the boardwalk and the vibe walks the line between festive and family-friendly.Road trips need the right ride, so we put real miles on the 2026 Mazda CX-50 Meridian Edition. Expect crisp styling, an interior that puts the driver in command, and standout handling that outperforms most compact SUVs. The 2.5-liter turbo brings usable power and confidence without drama, though the flat roof rack looks overbuilt and the infotainment system needs a rethink. We share observed mpg, pricing context, and how it stacks up against segment staples like the Honda CR-V, Toyota RAV4, and Nissan Rogue so you can decide what matters most: grip, comfort, or fuel spend. To cap it off, we nerd out on muscle car station wagons that should have been factory legends. From Ford Torino and Chevy Chevelle cousins to Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser, Pontiac Tempest, and Dodge Coronet platforms, we break down why these long-roof builds make the perfect blend of nostalgia, utility, and torque. Whether you're planning a family-friendly parade crawl or sketching your dream resto-mod wagon, this ride has you covered with routes, reviews, and a little righteous rumble. If you enjoy the show, follow, rate, and share it with a friend who loves parades, road trips, or great cars—and tell us which Texas Mardi Gras stop you're hitting next.Be sure to subscribe for more In Wheel Time Car Talk! The Lupe' Tortilla RestaurantsLupe Tortilla in Katy, Texas Gulf Coast Auto ShieldPaint protection, tint, and more!Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. Hey everybody, welcome to the RV Podcast News Edition for Monday, January 19, 2026. I'm Mike Wendland. This is where we cut through the noise and bring you what's really happening right now in the RV lifestyle and the RV industry. Five stories this week, and taken together they paint a clear picture. The RV world is not just changing. It is restructuring.Let's get started.STORY 1. TAMPA SUPERSHOW AND THE MEGA-DEALERS GET EVEN BIGGERThe Florida RV SuperShow wrapped up this weekend in Tampa, and once again it was the Super Bowl of RVing. Huge crowds, massive inventory, and a lot of signals about where the industry thinks things are headed. One number really stood out.Lazydays RV, now operating as Lazydays RV powered by Campers Inn, announced it brought more than 450 RVs to the show. Four hundred and fifty units on the grounds. There were over 1,300 new models here. That means Lazydays, if it really bought that many uits - I didnt count them - accounted for a third of the total new units on display. That is more than confidence. That is making a statement and claiming market power. It highlights how the biggest RV chains keep getting bigger. Camping World, General RV, Blue Compass, and Campers Inn have all been aggressively buying up smaller dealerships across the country. In many markets, those big names now sit next to each other, or even across the street from one another. That kind of saturation creates brutal competition and raises a serious question. How many stores can a market really support? What we kept hearing in Tampa is that 2026 may be the year underperforming locations start quietly closing. We already saw a preview late in 2025 when Camping World abruptly shut down its store in Escanaba, Michigan. For shoppers, this environment cuts both ways. There is more inventory and more choice, but dealers are under pressure to move aging stock. That pressure can work in your favor, if you negotiate wisely.STORY 2. INFLUENCER FATIGUE. THE MARKETING MODEL IS BREAKING DOWNAnother major theme at the Tampa show had nothing to do with floorplans.Influencer fatigue.By our count, there are now at least 500 so-called RV influencers. Probably more. Anyone with a cellphone camera can claim the title, and many have. For years, manufacturers poured money, free gear, and perks into this system. But saturation has changed everything.Behind the scenes, RV manufacturers and marketing teams are saying the influencer model no longer delivers like it once did. They report being flooded with demands for free RVs, guaranteed commissions, and paid travel just to show up.There are clear signs of a pullback.Winnebago has ended relationships with some influencers. Keystone RV has done the same. The issue is trust. When every product is “the best ever,” audiences stop believing any of it.I overheard it firsthand in Tampa. Outside the influencer building, one man said, “I'd be an influencer too if they gave me free stuff. But since that hasn't happened, I don't trust what any of them say. Free stuff and money can buy anything.”That comment captures the problem perfectly.STORY 3. TARIFFS ARE HAMMERING MANUFACTURERS, AND ROADTREK MAY BE THE HARDEST HITAnother major topic of quiet but intense conversation at the SuperShow was tariffs and the damage they are doing to certain RV manufacturers.Start with Europe. The Italian manufacturer Wingamm has been trying to bring compact Class B style motorhomes into the U.S. market for at least the last four years. At one point, the tariff hit on a Wingamm imported from Italy was estimated at roughly $70,000.That nearly killed the effort. The tariff has since been restructured into a fixed import fee announced in mid-2025, about $9,500 on the Oasi 540.1 and roughly $11,100 on other models. Even so, Wingamm has now turned to crowdfunding to help finance its U.S. market entry.Canada is being hit even harder. Many popular Class B vans sold in the U.S. are built in Canada. Tariffs stack up at every step.A prime example is Leisure Travel Vans.Their Unity models use Mercedes Sprinter chassis and major components built in Germany, shipped to Canada, assembled there, and then exported to the United States. Tariffs apply to the chassis, the imported parts, and the finished vehicle.Industry sources say tariffs alone are adding at least $20,000 to the price of a Leisure Travel Vans motorhome. The new Mercedes Benz model that introduced at the show last week was sticker shock on steroids. It's show price was $272,000. For a B + van. Over a quarter of a million dollars! Yikes. And then there's Class B campervan maker Roadtrek, made in Ontario.Roadtrek's situation may be the most severe. The company has struggled since 2019, following a massive financial scandal involving its previous owners that ended in bankruptcy. Roadtrek is currently owned by a French RV company that took control as part of that restructuring.Since then, Roadtrek has faced repeated Mercedes Sprinter chassis shortages, production disruptions, a weak market, and the loss of key personnel. Most recently, Roadtrek lost its longtime National Sales Manager, Mike Williams, widely known across the industry and to customers as “Canada Mike.” He has now joined Sunshine State RVs in Gainesville, Florida, where some are already calling him “Florida Mike.”That is a significant loss of leadership and visibility for the brand. At Tampa, the buzz was everywhere. Roadtrek is struggling badly, and many insiders believe the company may be for sale again. Nothing official, but the talk was constant and came from dealers, current employees,  and industry veterans.Tariffs are a huge reason for all of this pressure.STORY 4. MORE CONSOLIDATION, MIDWEST AUTOMOTIVE DESIGN LIKELY TO BE SOLDAnd speaking of major brands being in play, we're hearing strong indications of another significant acquisition.Multiple sources tell us that Midwest Automotive Design, a high-end builder of luxury Class B motorhomes on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter platform, is about to be sold. The buyer, according to what we're hearing, is Alliance RV.Alliance RV was founded in 2019 by industry veterans Ryan and Coley Brady and is best known for its Paradigm line of luxury fifth wheels. The company has built a reputation for high-quality construction and strong customer loyalty.Midwest Automotive Design is a powerhouse in the luxury van segment. It is known for models like the Passage and Luxe Cruiser and has also built private-label vans for Ultimate Toys, Chinook, Holiday Rambler, Fleetwood, and American Coach under the REV Group umbrella. This is not a small boutique operation. If confirmed, this move would signal Alliance's expansion beyond towables into the premium motorized market. It reinforces the larger pattern. The RV industry is entering a major consolidation phase, with strong operators positioning themselves to acquire respected niche brands as costs rise and margins tighten.STORY 5. ZION NATIONAL PARK WILL RESTRICT LARGE RVS ON A KEY ROUTENow an important heads-up for anyone planning a Southwest RV trip.Zion National Park has announced a major change taking effect June 7, 2026.Large vehicles will no longer be allowed to travel through the Zion–Mount Carmel Highway, including the famous tunnel.Vehicles longer than about thirty-five feet, wider than seven feet ten inches, taller than eleven feet four inches, or weighing more than fifty thousand pounds will be prohibited. The long-standing escort system for oversized vehicles is being eliminated. The Park Service says the road was never designed for modern RVs and that safety concerns drove the decision. You can still visit Zion, but many large motorhomes and fifth wheels will need alternate routes or off-site parking. This is a major planning issue for RVers heading west.BONUS STORY. HONDA OFFICIALLY ENTERS THE RV SPACE WITH A LIGHTWEIGHT TRAILERAnd here's one of those moments when we get to say, we told you so. This is a BONUS STORY THIS WEEK.Two episodes ago, we reported that Honda was quietly working on something big in the RV space. Now it's official.Honda has unveiled the Base Station Prototype, an all-new lightweight travel trailer designed by Honda engineers at the company's U.S. research and development centers in Los Angeles and Ohio. This is not a rebadged camper. Honda says the Base Station Prototype brings segment-first innovations that only Honda can deliver. The stated goal is to “democratize outdoor adventures.” In plain English, make RVing accessible to more people.Honda designed the Base Station to be towed by many of the most popular vehicles in America, including crossovers like the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, as well as electric vehicles such as the Honda Prologue and Honda's upcoming 0-Series SUV.That is a major shift. Most lightweight trailers still require full-size trucks or large SUVs. Honda is aiming directly at the millions of households that already own smaller vehicles and have been priced out of RV ownership.Honda also says the Base Station will remain competitively priced in the lightweight travel trailer segment, signaling this is not just a concept vehicle but a serious market entry. If Honda follows through, this could reshape the entry-level RV market in a very big way.And as soon as we can see one in person, you know we'll bring you a full report.CLOSINGAlright. MDJ Script/ Top Stories for November 12th Publish Date:  November 12th Commercial: From the BG Ad Group Studio, Welcome to the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast.    Today is Wednesday, November 12th and Happy Birthday to Al Michaels I’m Keith Ippolito and here are the stories Cobb is talking about, presented by Times Journal Cobb, Marietta teaching excellence pays off — in horsepower Nathan Deal calls for civility, bipartisanship GMDT’s The Nutcracker will be Thanksgiving weekend All of this and more is coming up on the Marietta Daily Journal Podcast, and if you are looking for community news, we encourage you to listen and subscribe!  BREAK: INGLES 7 STORY 1: Cobb, Marietta teaching excellence pays off — in horsepower This week, two of Cobb County’s best teachers got the surprise of a lifetime—a brand-new car to drive for a year. In a tradition that never gets old, the Cobb Chamber, with help from Voyles Automotive Group, handed out free one-year car leases at their monthly luncheon. Hailey Howdyshell, a first-grade teacher at Hickory Hill Elementary, drove off in a sleek Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid, while Amanda Dillard, a special ed teacher at Pope High, snagged a Kia Telluride. Other honorees? Caleb Garrett (Compton Elementary) got a Honda Passport, and Lakeisha Gray (Betty Gray Middle) scored a Jeep Wrangler. Teachers, you deserve it. STORY 2: Nathan Deal calls for civility, bipartisanship Former Gov. Nathan Deal didn’t hold back this week when he spoke to the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, urging lawmakers to ditch the shouting matches and rediscover bipartisanship. In a candid chat with Superior Plumbing CEO Jay Cunningham, Deal reflected on how politics has changed—and not for the better. “It used to be you had to prove you could govern,” he said. “Now, it’s just about who yells the loudest and raises the most money.” Deal, who led Georgia from 2011 to 2019, highlighted his bipartisan work on criminal justice reform, calling it “the right thing,” not a political win. Before wrapping up, Deal shared a personal project: his children’s book, Veto the Governor’s Cat, inspired by his late wife, Sandra. “Kids listen to animals more than adults sometimes,” he joked. The book teaches lessons on courage, patience, and embracing differences. Cunningham called Deal “a man of humility and integrity,” thanking him for his service to Georgia. STORY 3: GMDT’s The Nutcracker will be Thanksgiving weekend  The Georgia Metropolitan Dance Theatre is bringing the magic of The Nutcracker back to Marietta this holiday season, with performances Nov. 28-30 at the Jennie T. Anderson Theatre. Picture this: the Stahlbaum family’s festive party, a mysterious magician stirring up chaos, toy soldiers battling giant mice, and a journey through a snowy forest to the dazzling Kingdom of Sweets. It’s everything you love about the holidays, wrapped in one enchanting ballet. This year’s cast features dancers as young as seven alongside high school seniors, plus guest artists Alex Gonzaga, Raul Peinado, and D Patton White. Tickets start at $25—grab yours at georgiametrodance.org! We have opportunities for sponsors to get great engagement on these shows. Call 770.799.6810 for more info.  We’ll be right back. Break: STRAND THEATRE STORY 4: Smyrna man accused of DUI after crash leaves driver seriously injured Eriberto Cante, 25, of Smyrna, is facing serious charges after a crash on Oct. 12 at the intersection of Church Street and N. Marietta Parkway. Police say Cante, driving a blue 2003 Toyota Rav4, ran a red light and was hit on the passenger side by another car with the right of way. The collision, caught on Cobb County’s Real Time Crime Center cameras, left a man unconscious with a brain bleed and fractured ribs. Officers reported smelling alcohol on Cante, who admitted to drinking five Modelo beers earlier. His blood alcohol level? A staggering .234. He also didn’t have a valid license. Cante was arrested Oct. 24 and released three days later on a $15,000 bond. STORY 5: Pro women's soccer team could be headquartered in Marietta  Arthur Blank, the billionaire behind Atlanta United and the Falcons, is reportedly bringing an NWSL expansion team to Atlanta, according to The Athletic. The price tag? A record $165 million. The team, set to debut after the 2026 season, will play at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, just like Blank’s other teams. But will it call Marietta home? Atlanta United’s $90 million training facility on Franklin Gateway seems like a natural fit. With six fields, a podcast studio, and plans for hydrotherapy rooms, it’s already top-notch. Plus, Blank owns extra land nearby—plenty of room to grow. Marietta Councilman Johnny Walker is hopeful. “It’d be a win-win,” he said. Break: STORY 6: Mayor Tumlin reelected as Cobb County certifies tight race   It’s official: Steve “Thunder” Tumlin will stay Marietta’s mayor, edging out challenger Sam Foster by just 89 votes. The Cobb County Board of Elections certified the Nov. 4 results Monday, locking in Tumlin’s 50.3% to Foster’s 49.7%. Close? Absolutely. Turnout was low—just 24.9% of Cobb’s 565,686 eligible voters showed up. Most voted on Election Day, but Acting Elections Director Michael D’Itri noted a few hiccups: abandoned ballots, long lines at Thompson Community Center, and a handful of discrepancies. “It was a tough day,” D’Itri admitted, but praised poll workers for pulling it off. Runoffs for Marietta City Council Wards 3 and 5 are set for Dec. 2. Early voting starts Nov. 22. STORY 7: Braves complete coaching staff, retain Hyers, Perez  The Atlanta Braves shook up their coaching staff Tuesday, announcing a mix of familiar faces and fresh hires for Walt Weiss’ first year at the helm. Tim Hyers is back as hitting coach for his second season, and Eddie Perez—yes, the 1999 NLCS MVP—is returning for his 37th year with the organization. That’s loyalty. New faces? Tommy Watkins takes over as third base coach after years with the Twins, Dustin Garneau steps in as catching coach, and Darnell Coles joins as assistant hitting coach, bringing over a decade of experience. Tony Diaz rounds out the group as a major league coach. Oh, and Tony Mansolino, originally hired as third base coach, will now serve as Weiss’ bench coach. Big moves all around. We’ll have closing comments after this. Break: INGLES 7 Signoff-   Thanks again for hanging out with us on today’s Marietta Daily Journal Podcast. Today, a new model from GWM – the Chinese brand now our seventh best seller and the best performing Chinese brand. With nine models on the market its Haval sub-brand has done well – the Haval Jolion and H6 SUVs both excellent its best performing models – its latest model, the Haval H7 Vanta Hybrid however is somewhat of a quandy – frankly one gets the impression that the Chinese brands are more intent on quickly gaining market share than providing product that suits our market – the Haval H7 Vanta Hybrid is one such SUV – A rugged looking medium SUV with the excellent H6 Ultra hybrids underpinnings – a 1.5-litre turbo petrol four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor –. Price: $46,990 drive- away well undercutting excellent medium hybrid SUVs like Toyota RAV4, Hyundai Tucson and Mitsubishi Outlander. The Haval H7 has been given rugged styling elements – bolt on wheel arch flares, black alloy wheels and grille while inside the macho look continues –. Equipment and safety features are high, but the downside, the incessant and intrusive driving attention monitor – so much so its counter productive and a buyer turnoff – the Haval H7 Vanta Hybrid SUV a really nice driver spoilt by a totally unnecessary warning messageSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Brian Moody breaks down the impact of tariffs on new car prices, which may not be as dramatic as expected. Many automakers are absorbing price increases to avoid driving away customers, while others are passing on costs through destination fees and decontenting. Moody also discusses how the used car market is faring, particularly for electric vehicles, which are depreciating rapidly, but still offer a good deal with expiring tax credits. Additionally, he shares his insights on popular car models, including the ongoing popularity of pickup trucks and the rise of small SUVs like the Toyota RAV4.======== Schwab Network ========Empowering every investor and trader, every market day. In the fall of 2017, Enrique Garibay Ruiz—a physicist, mathematician, and writer—left Budapest for what he promised would be a short trip to the United States. He visited New York, then flew west to Los Angeles, checking into a hostel and renting a gray Toyota RAV4. He told his family he'd be home soon. But Enrique never came home. On October 3rd, he checked out of the hostel.  On October 4th, he rented the car.  On October 5th, he told his wife he was at the airport, waiting for a flight back to Hungary. Just hours later, in the early morning of October 6th, his credit card was swiped at a Carl's Jr. near LAX. After that—nothing. The car was never returned. Enrique was never seen again. In one of the busiest cities in the world, he simply vanished. Listen as we dive into the Los Angeles, the case of Enrique Garibay Ruiz, and how to stay alive on vacation. Are SUVs like the 2025 Hyundai Tucson XRT and Acura RDX really meant to go off road? That's a question we will answer this week as we discuss both vehicles after thoroughly road testing them. Cohost Chris Teague test-drove the refreshed 2025 Acura RDX, a compact luxury SUV with updated styling, a sharper grille, a more functional cabin, and upgraded tech, including a wide-screen 10.2-inch display. The RDX is powered by a 272-horsepower turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Available Super Handling All-Wheel Drive and a suite of standard safety features complete the package. The specs are impressive, but does the RDX also have a “feature” that might turn you off? While Chris was at the wheel of the Acura, Host Jack Nerad put the (semi-)rugged 2025 Hyundai Tucson XRT AWD to the test. This new variant adds off-road-inspired styling, 19-inch black alloy wheels, and 8.3 inches of ground clearance. Under the hood, a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine is paired with Hyundai's HTRAC all-wheel-drive system. Inside, the Tucson XRT features a comfortable, tech-forward cabin with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The question is off-roader or soft-roader? In this week's news segment, we cover the debut of the 2026 Toyota RAV4, redesigned for its sixth generation with hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains only. New trims include the sporty GR SPORT and off-road-ready Woodland edition. We also examine Congress's recent vote to block California's plan to phase out gas-only car sales by 2035, breaking down what this means for national emissions policy and the EV market. The industry hails the change, but some environments cry foul. In other news, Tesla's sales in Europe have fallen nearly 50% in April, despite overall EV market growth. Based on that, we explore possible causes, including public perceptions of CEO Elon Musk and the realities of the European auto market, which has welcomed (kinda) the Chinese. Finally, Volvo's announcement of 3,000 job cuts signals broader challenges amid a slowing EV market and global trade uncertainties. Our special guest this week is Anthony Watkins, Toyota product expert, who joins us to discuss the 2026 Toyota BZ, the brand's heavily revised electric crossover. Jack Nerad drove the new version, and we'll have a special report. We'll also answer our listener question of the week: Connor from Davenport, Iowa, asks, “Should I buy or lease my next car? I drive about 8 to 9,000 miles a year — would a lease make sense?” We offer our take. Have a question for the show? Email us anytime at editor@drivingtoday.com.
