As we close out the 1st season of the #POBScast we're reflecting on this journey of being seen. It's a journey full of obstacles and pivots and revisions. And along the way, finding your voice and communicating your vision. And one of the most beautiful aspects of this podcast journey is being able to uncover new ways to communicate with and understand one another. No one knows the power of this beautiful podcast phenomenon better than Elsie Escobar. Elsie is one of the early pioneers of podcasting. In fact, she is about to be inducted into the Podcast Hall of Fame—so cool! Besides hosting two podcasts of her own, Elsie works hard to ensure fellow podcasts are heard on their road to self-discovery. Elsie’s own path is remarkable; you are going to be so inspired after hearing it! Pause for a moment, lean into the silence, and be inspired. (And we sort of can't help but love that on this first episode of Rebecca’s solo POBScast hosting journey, in conversation with Elsie, it's Rebecca who's audio is crackly, as if to help articulate her mission of finding her voice…) Also in this episode: People are starting to see the hidden powers of podcasting. How Elsie pivoted into podcasting, and away from acting. Yoga as a release from the negative influences of the acting industry. Podcasting is a means of self-discovery and self-development. Embracing silence and embracing presence while growing as a teacher or leader. Our communication powers can extend from teaching into parenthood and other facets of life. Continuing to have a grounded and impactful conversation with someone. Giving a voice to Women of Color. Transitions can be stressful, make room for rest. Partnerships in dialogue can bring a new power to a podcast. There are so many ways to connect with Elsie! To find them all, head over to: http://elsieescobar.com/ And do join our #POBScast community at Facebook.com/groups/POBScast This episode marks the end of season 1, Rebecca will be back with season 2 beginning September 20, 2017.
Elsie Escobar is the host of Elsie’s Yoga Class, co host of The Feed and She Podcasts. She's a voice actor and Social Media Community Manager over at Libsyn. During the show, Elsie will reveal a simple but effective podcast strategy and development plan that will help make the pre launch process less stressful. You'll learn the first step to launching your podcast and how to find your voice in the podcast space. Listen to the end to avoid the main reason why most people don’t ever launch their podcast. Show 030 Quick-Guide The mighty Heather Ordover is our last guest co-host for She Podcasts for 2014. Remember when we did the Hollywood thing? Ya, that did happen. Be part of She Podcasts! Take action ASAP send in your feedback. We give you the scoop on what went down with the public hearing by the EFF on 12/17/2014 that presented to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) a key claim to invalidate of a patent used by notorious patent troll Personal Audio to shake down podcasters. We have an idea of what season 2 for Serial should be…hmmmmmm. We do in fact have a conversation about patent law. Ya. Diving deep into a massively popular genre in podcasting Education. Why does a teacher decide to podcast about literature? The incredible culture of “being read to.” When children ask to read Shakespeare and redesigning a curriculum to teach to the joke. A Tale of Two Cities. It’s awesome. The audio brain vs the reading brain. And we do chat about the bias of reading-reading and “reading” and audio book. How Elsie reads now. Cognative Anchoring is revealed! Amazing stuff people. The room to expand your mind in all of the different podcast is there. Why and how what you listen to dictates how you move and grow in the world. It’s time to find a podcast that will help you break patterns. Go do it. And then there is Chop Bard and how it expands your brain. Or at least we geek out about it. A bit of Twelfth Night discussion. What is the distinction between podcasts and procasts? Audio quality may or may not deter new podcast listeners from stepping into more podcasts. There really are podcast seasons, not for your podcast, but for podcasters. Podcast numbers can be many things and only one aspect needs to be a commodity aka selling sponsorship A devoted fanbase does not signify money/sponsorship - if we subscribe to the existing media models. A devoted fanbase does not mean that they WILL buy when you have something to sell. Choose to go where your audience is - agree? Where are the women from She Podcasts Facebook group coming from?
