We've all been there, when a great idea turns out to be, well, not so great? We've all been there, right? That lightning bolt moment where we think, “This is it! This is the idea that's going to change everything.” And then reality sets in. To share her own “What Was I Thinking?” moment, I've invited my friend Jen Edds, the head brassy boss at Brassy Broadcasting Company. Jen had a vision of launching a daily podcast—short, punchy, and everywhere. But just before jumping in, she took a step back and asked herself the tough questions: Was this the right show? Was this sustainable? And most importantly, was this for her audience? What she discovered might just save you from your next over-ambitious content plan. So, grab a cup of coffee and get ready for some laughs, lessons, and a little tough love on making your marketing work for you. Key Takeaways: Just because an idea is exciting doesn't mean it's the right fit—evaluate sustainability before diving in. Content should serve your ideal audience, not just chase algorithms. Marketing your content is just as important as creating it—don't forget to promote! Be flexible! You can always pivot and adjust your content strategy as you learn more about what works. Whether you're launching a podcast, writing a blog, or creating video content, Jen's story is a reminder that strategy matters more than sheer volume. And sometimes, the best decision is to scale back before you burn out. Jenn Edds is the Head Broad in Charge at the Brassy Broadcasting Company

HAPPY MONDAY MOTIVATION! Welcome back to my podcast, No More Excuses! Today and this week I want to focus on COMMUNICATION! Yes, as a DiSC® certified business coach, communication is always in the agenda for a session with a client. Strong, clear communication can make or break a sale, an interview, and even screw up your relationship with staff, vendors and other colleagues and partners! We all get flustered or even have a “loss for words” sometimes, but taking the time to think or just pause can help! But, for the LOVE of all that's good and holy, please don't say, “That's a GREAT question”! I guess you'll have to listen in to find out WHY I, and my podcast coach, Jen Edds says to NOT say that! Good and effective communication is so helpful in being able to sell both yourself and your idea or product. Do you have to take the DiSC® assessment to have better communication? NO! But you should try something! Today you'll need to listen closely as I give you three tips on ways to check and improve your communication. I also share with you a new technique I recently learned called "Chunking"! A lot of tips, and I'll dig deeper into each one the rest of the week on my social media! But I also would love it if you would share your tips in the comments section! And, if you DO want to understand your communication style, click here for your FREE assessment: https://sandiballardsuccesscoaching.cloverleaf.me/l/podcastlistener Share with your staff or business partners too! Hey Ladies – if you are in Orange County, on August 18th, my colleague, Nancy Singer and I are facilitating the interactive workshop, “Thinking on your Feet. How to shine under pressure!” Check out my social media or DM me for the link! I look forward to hearing from you! Share in the comments or again, contact me, especially if you want to improve your communication! Cheers! Sandi

Welcome to the latest incarnation of The Brassy Broadcast. The podcast that has taken long periods of rest and has served a variety of purposes since it launched in 2014. I'm Jen Edds, The Head Broad in Charge at The Brassy Broadcasting Company and this is my podcast. There are a few definitions of brassy when you look them up online. Most definitions paint “brassy” in a negative light of being harsh, loud, tasteless, showy, or resembling brass in color. And then….when you scroll down….you see brassy described as brazen, bold, audacious, unashamed, unrestrained by convention and propriety. I want to live a brassy life - A life lived boldly, brazenly, audaciously, and unrestrained by convention and propriety. In my world, Brassiness thrives in the intersection of curiosity, creativity, and caring no more what most folks think. I'll be sharing what I'm learning along my own adventures to live a bold and brassy life. Here's your disclaimer: I'm no subject matter expert. Far from it. I'm just a curious broad full of questions. When Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy announced his retirement, my heart dropped, and I wasn't alone. Millions of women who have marched, organized, and donated saw their civil rights being swept away from our current administration by the recommendation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Women's health is not the only issue in grave danger if Kavanaugh gets the seat. Immigration, LGTBQ rights, and almost every facet of American life will be affected. We're being told Kavanaugh is a foregone conclusion. What you will hear in this show is that IT IS NOT. But we need your help. Please listen to and share this episode featuring the Los Angeles stop on the Rise Up For Roe Tour. The arguments that this is the most important issue, and we can win are compelling.
