In part three of Us Unfiltered, I explore how power dynamics quietly shape a marriage: who leads, who decides, who sets the tone. These patterns usually come from what we saw growing up, and without realizing it, they create a one-up/one-down dynamic that erodes trust and connection. Too much independence can turn partners into high-functioning roommates instead of a true team. I talk about why every contribution counts, why control blocks intimacy, and how “keeping the boardroom out of the bedroom” matters more than most couples realize. I share a moment in my own marriage where choosing presence over defensiveness shifted everything. You'll learn simple ways to restore balance: notice without blame, make space for your partner to lead, value emotional work, step out of the one-up stance, and reconnect around a shared vision. If you're serious about healing the disconnect in your marriage, there is a path forward. Apply for a Private Couples Weekend. We'll talk about what's happening between you, what you want to rebuild, and whether this private, two-day experience is the right container to help you create lasting change—together. Struggling to decide whether to stay or go in your marriage and you're serious about finding that answer? Book a Truth & Clarity Session with a member of my team. We'll discuss where you are in your marriage and explore if there's a fit for you and I to work together so you can make - and execute - the RIGHT decision for YOU and your marriage.

Zach sits down with Kristan and Brook Seaford, a couple whose marriage was transformed overnight when Kristan contracted a rare and catastrophic infection in 2013. What began as strep throat and the flu quickly escalated into pneumonia, sepsis, organ failure, septic shock, and ultimately the loss of both hands, one foot, and part of the other—a 108-day medical ordeal across six hospitals that changed her life and their family forever. But what unfolds in this interview is not just a medical story—it's a relationship story. Kristan describes the grief of returning home to a toddler who no longer recognized her, the ache of losing the physical abilities that once defined her identity, and the spiritual shift from fierce independence to complete dependence on God. Brook shares his own transformation as the family's roles flipped overnight—learning to parent five children, run a home he once took for granted, and support a partner rebuilding her life. Together, Kristan and Brook talk about humor as survival, forgiveness as practice, community as a lifeline, and the unexpected gifts that emerged from unimaginable loss. They explore how their affection, partnership, and independence have evolved, how they've adapted to enjoy life together in new ways, and how their children have grown stronger, more empathetic, and more capable because of what their family lived through. Kristan now speaks publicly about resilience, faith, and healing—and this conversation demonstrates the courage and compassion at the heart of her work. Key Takeaways A medical miracle and a marital transformation – Kristan survived sepsis and organ failure, losing limbs but gaining a deeper sense of gratitude, faith, and purpose. Roles reversed overnight – Brook shifted from traditional breadwinner to full-time caregiver and household manager, discovering new respect for the invisible labor of parenting and home life. Anger and grief show up differently – She grieved deeply but rarely felt anger; he felt anger for her, mourning all that had been taken from someone he loved. Rebuilding attachment takes intention – Their 13-month-old daughter was terrified when Kristan came home—so Kristan slept on the nursery floor for months to rebuild their bond. Humor is holy – Dark humor and playful banter became a coping mechanism for both the trauma and the awkward social moments that followed. The story shaped their kids – Their five children grew more independent, responsible, and compassionate as they adapted to new family rhythms. Partnership evolves – Though physical limitations changed what activities they can share, they now intentionally seek “new fun” together—breweries, museums, comedy clubs, creative classes, and cruises instead of scuba diving. Her disability makes her a better counselor – Kristan says she isn't a good mom, wife, or therapist despite what happened—but in many ways because of it. Hiyo's founders turned a personal wake-up call into one of the fastest-growing adult non-alcoholic beverage brands in the country. Built on sharp strategy, standout design, and disciplined execution, Hiyo is now scaling nationally — including a newly inked Live Nation partnership placing the brand in major venues across the U.S. In this episode, we sit down with Hiyo's three co-founders, Evan Quinn, Cygne Cooper and George Youmans, who discuss how this SoCal-born "social tonic" is redefining moderation, unlocking category whitespace, and proving that thoughtful focus can outpace flashy niche plays. Show notes: 0:25: Evan Quinn, Cygne Cooper & George Youmans, Co-Founders, Hiyo – Evan and George reflect on how simultaneous family crises related to alcohol prompted them to cut back on drinking and inspired them to create Hiyo. Cygne discusses how she crafted the SoCal-inspired brand identity and sunset-themed packaging. George notes that Hiyo was initially a DTC brand and grew carefully into retail once operations were strong and consumer demand was clear. Cygne talks about how Hiyo's booth at Expo West 2024 created an energetic, immersive experience before the founders explain how merchandising strategy varies by retailer, with Hiyo fitting either near alcohol or within functional beverage sets. George talks about Hiyo's national partnership with Live Nation, requiring tight coordination across design, production, logistics, and on-premise education. In this compelling conversation on this week's episode, Dr. Fiona Lovely welcomes naturopathic oncologist Dr. Laura James to pull back the curtain on the breast cancer journey. They dive deep into what it truly means to receive a breast cancer diagnosis and navigate what Dr. James candidly terms "the breast cancer industrial complex." This discussion moves far beyond simplistic narratives to explore the profound importance of personalized, integrative care that addresses the whole person—not just the tumor. Dr. James demystifies complex terminology, explaining the critical differences between receptor statuses and what a genetic link really means for risk. She outlines the distinct phases of treatment and emphasizes why having an informed advocate, like a naturopathic oncologist, can be transformative in helping women understand their options and ask the right questions. The conversation takes an honest look at the often-overlooked emotional and systemic realities, including the burden of shame, the critical need for a "buddy system," and the stark limitations of protocol-driven, siloed medicine. Perhaps most impactful is their exploration of life after treatment, including the controversial yet vital discussion around hormone replacement therapy for survivors. Dr. James provides a nuanced perspective on weighing quality of life and long-term health risks, advocating for women's right to make fully informed decisions for their bodies and their futures. This episode is an empowering resource for anyone touched by breast cancer, offering clarity, compassion, and a bold new framework for healing. Growth doesn't happen because you “do more.”It happens because you stop, look back, and adjust with intention.Every year, we run a full Year-In-Review, long before January. We look at what worked, what didn't, and what absolutely needs to change. And the businesses that grow the fastest? They're doing the same thing. Here's what 2025 taught us:Wins:• The Expert Content Society became a true growth engine (275 members and growing), members are posting consistently, creating better content, and seeing real results.• Partnerships and affiliates drove major momentum.• LinkedIn trends were clear: short-form video, newsletters, and carousels remain top performers.• Clients scaled fast, some so much that they had to expand their teams.Challenges:• Funnels need clarity, not complexity.• Over-delivering features inside our community actually hurts engagement.• Operations need to be tightened to remove friction.Surprises:• Buyers expect personalization, clarity, and fast communication.• Trust is everything; testimonials, recommendations, and proof matter more than ever.• Power partnerships on LinkedIn are one of the biggest untapped opportunities. Our 2026 focus? One word: Optimization.Simpler systems. Cleaner messaging. Better processes. More execution. No unnecessary complexity. And now it's your turn. Before you plan 2026, ask these three questions:Red: What needs to stop?Yellow: What needs improvement?Green: What deserves more of your focus? Creating a partnership in our marriages was the goal when we got married, and yet many of us over the years, end up retreating into a paper marriage, a place where we live in the same space, but we do so as roommates, people who aren't connected. The goal of marriage isn't just to share a house and a washing machine, it's to connect emotionally, to learn how to love another person in a selfless and compassionate way. When we get married with expectations of the other person making us happy and always loving us, we will find it easy to lean out of the relationship and retreat into ourselves, neglecting the relationship. Instead, when we get married with the expectation that we will learn to love cleanly and fully, we will lean in and create a safe space for our partner to do the same. Thanks for listening! The Mishneh Torah was the Rambam's (Rabbi Moses ben Maimon) magnum opus, a work spanning hundreds of chapters and describing all of the laws mentioned in the Torah. To this day it is the only work that details all of Jewish observance, including those laws which are only applicable when the Holy Temple is in place. Participating in one of the annual study cycles of these laws (3 chapters/day, 1 chapter/day, or Sefer Hamitzvot) is a way we can play a small but essential part in rebuilding the final Temple.

Mr. Beast Biography Flash a weekly Biography. In the past few days Jimmy Donaldson, better known as MrBeast, has been in the news less for a single viral stunt and more for the long term architecture of his empire. TechCrunch reports that his CEO Jeff Housenbold is now openly floating the idea of taking Beast Industries public one day, with the explicit goal of letting fans become owners of the company. That IPO talk is still speculative and no filing has been made, but the fact it is being discussed on the record underscores that MrBeast is now positioning himself less as a lone creator and more as the head of a future consumer entertainment conglomerate. TechCrunch also notes leaked figures, originally reported by Bloomberg, indicating that his Feastables chocolate line has already become more profitable than both his flagship YouTube channel and his Prime Video show Beast Games, a shift that suggests his long term biography may be defined as much by CPG and IP as by YouTube views. At the same time, Donaldson is trying to evolve his philanthropic brand. Fortune and an official announcement from the Rockefeller Foundation both confirm a new strategic partnership between Beast Philanthropy and the 112 year old foundation, aimed at combining his youth reach with their expertise in helping the worlds most vulnerable communities. The Rockefeller Foundation says the collaboration will include joint work in places like Ghana early next year, and Donaldson has been quoted saying he wants their guidance to avoid repeating philanthropy mistakes and to turn his massive, often spectacle driven giving into what he calls real lasting change. Framed biographically, this looks like the opening chapter in a shift from viral charity videos to institutional philanthropy with establishment partners. That Ghana focus also ties into a more public facing, participatory campaign. The 1 Billion Followers Summit has posted terms and conditions for a 1 Billion Acts of Kindness campaign run in collaboration with MrBeast, Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives and the Varkey Foundation. The campaign invites creators worldwide to post videos of acts of kindness with specific hashtags and, for ten selected winners, includes a fully paid trip to the summit and a journey with MrBeast to Ghana to help build a village and appear in his content. The documents make clear this is a formally structured initiative, with content licensing, code of conduct and legal waivers spelled out, which again speaks to how systematized the MrBeast operation has become. On the media side, MrBeast has also just appeared in a long form conversation titled MrBeast on Cracking the Attention Economy, alongside CEO Jeff Housenbold. In that discussion, promoted on YouTube, the pair lay out how they think about attention, business growth and the responsibilities that come with their influence. While not a headline making controversy, it is a notable public appearance because it continues to cement Donaldson as a leading voice on the future of entertainment, not just a practitioner inside it.Meanwhile, storm clouds remain in the background. TechCrunch points out that Beast Industries is still locked in litigation with Virtual Dining Concepts over the collapse of MrBeast Burger, and that lawsuits from contestants on the first season of Beast Games alleging mistreatment and a misogynistic culture are ongoing. In a recent DealBook appearance covered by TechCrunch, Donaldson spoke cautiously about those suits, essentially portraying them as an almost inevitable byproduct of running a 2000 person gameshow, rather than as evidence of systemic failure, a framing that will likely be revisited in any serious biography of his rise. There are, as always, countless unverified rumors swirling on social media about upcoming videos, new Feastables flavors, and a possible second large scale series order from Amazon, but at this stage those remain speculation without confirmation from MrBeast or major outlets.Thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe so you never miss an update on MrBeast. My guest on the show today is Jason Kirsch, Portfolio Manager at Rosen Partnership and co-architect of the firm's Active Value Strategy — a concentrated, long-only, private-owner-style approach to investing in micro-cap companies across Canada, the U.S., and Europe. In this episode, Jason walks us through Rosen Partnership's philosophy of thinking like private owners in the public markets: buying capital-light, high-ROIC compounders at meaningful discounts to intrinsic value; partnering with aligned management teams; and using “constructivism” — a collaborative, non-activist engagement style — to help unlock long-term value. We dig deep into how Jason builds a true knowledge edge: talking not just to management, but to former executives, board members, competitors, suppliers — anyone who can broaden the mosaic and create an informational gap most investors simply aren't willing to develop. Jason also shares lessons learned from catalysts that didn't play out, how misaligned incentives can turn a bargain into a value trap, and why understanding your own psychology is just as important as understanding any business. For more information about Rosen Partnership, please visit: https://www.rosenpartnership.com/ We just announced our full slate of investor conferences for 2026, all in partnership with MicroCapClub.
