All for the Kingdom Podcast – Episode #232: "Breath of Life, Genesis 2:4-17" Subtitle: Man's unique creative purpose to glorify God, dwell with God, and love God.Join Pastor Ben in this insightful expository sermon as he delves into Genesis Chapter 2:4-17, exploring the profound theological depths of man's unique creation, his intended purpose, and the transformative power of Christ's redemption. This sermon unpacks fundamental truths about man's relationship with God, addressing both the goodness of creation and the pervasive impact of sin.Key Scripture: Genesis 2:4-17Episode Highlights:• Man's Unique Creation: Discover how man was distinctly made in God's image, possessing both a physical nature (formed from dust) and a spiritual nature (God's breath of life). This uniqueness sets humanity apart from all other creation, designed specifically for a relationship with God. The sermon contrasts this with false teachings that deny man's uniqueness or spiritual nature.• Man's Purpose: To Glorify, Dwell, and Love God:◦ Glorify God: Man's chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever, a core doctrinal truth emphasized by historical catechisms. This involves both reflecting God's glory and finding soul satisfaction in rejoicing in it.◦ Dwell with God: God created man to dwell with Him, a principle element of the Garden of Eden and recurring throughout scripture, from Noah to Abraham, Israel, and ultimately for the redeemed in the New Jerusalem (heaven). Dwelling with God requires being a people of God, in a place of God, receiving the provision of God.◦ Love God: Man was created with the freedom to choose God or to sin. This includes the ability to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which gave the ability to distinguish between good and evil. Death results from the desire for evil that stems from this knowledge and the choice to disobey.• The Garden of Eden: A Real Place of Provision: The Garden is not a metaphor, but a real, physical place of God's perfect provision and blessing. Man was placed there "to work it and to keep it," indicating that labor was part of God's good design before the Fall. In the Garden, desire and good were in perfect unity.• The Corruption of Sin: Since Genesis 3, sin has corrupted man's heart, leading to a desire for things that don't glorify God and causing man to hide from God's presence out of shame. The sermon touches on the profound impact of Adam's sin, which brought death into the world (Romans 5:12).• Redemption Through Christ: Only through the redemptive work of Jesus Christ are people made able to fulfill their purpose of glorifying and rejoicing in God. Jesus, unlike Adam, knew the distinction between good and evil but lived a sinless life, offering salvation through his perfect obedience (Romans 5:19, Hebrews 4). The good news of the gospel is not man's free choice of God, but God's sovereign grace in choosing to so love the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him would not perish but have eternal life.Find Out More:Ben Smith is the pastor of Central Baptist Church, Waycross, GA.Additional podcasts, books, and downloadable PDFs of Pastor Ben's sermon outlines and manuscripts are available at http://bensmithsr.org.You can find information about Central Baptist Church at cbcwaycross.org.This sermon was originally preached on 9/7/2025.
The provided text from the "Metabolism Made Easy" YouTube channel explains the critical role of oxygen in the Electron Transport Chain (ETC), a vital process for cellular energy production. It highlights how hypoxia, or a lack of oxygen, significantly inhibits the ETC, thereby reducing the output of ATP, the body's primary energy currency. This reduction in ATP can severely impair the function of aerobic tissues like the brain and heart, which heavily rely on oxygen-dependent pathways for energy. The source emphasizes that multiple mitochondrial catabolic processes that produce NADH and FADH2 will not generate usable energy in the absence of sufficient oxygen, ultimately leading to tissue damage, particularly in the brain, which is highly dependent on glucose oxidation for ATP.

The biblical account of creation states that God breathed into Adam the “breath of life” and he became a “living soul.” What exactly is the “breath of life”? Is it the same as natural breath and is it still within every human being? Does it include the presence and essence of God? Do we ever really stop to reflect on the air that we breathe? Or do we just take it for granted? Air is the first essential need of life on earth. Besides the need for oxygen in the air for breathing, air plays an important role in human life and nature. All living beings, plants and animals are dependent on air for the generation of life energy. The same air that gives life to and sustains humans gives life to and sustains the rest of Creation. In the busyness, the hustle and bustle of our daily lives, it's easy to overlook the simple act of breathing. Yet, scripture remind us of the sacredness in every breath we take. In Silver Linings, Terry Lees reminds us of our commonality with all living things, and of the fact that all life comes from and is sustained by God.
Ephesians One was a brilliant overview of God's plan, salvation and our eventual destiny with Jesus Christ. Chapter Two is a reminder of the miry clay we have all been rescued from. While dark, it is vital for the believer to never lose sight of our own desperate rescue or church becomes an exclusive club instead of a hospital to meet the Great Physician.

This week, we're going to study a profound moment in the Gospel of John, specifically John 20:19-23, where Jesus appears to his disciples after his resurrection. This moment is pivotal, encapsulating the essence of the peace that Jesus offers to his followers. Peace Beyond Circumstances The first gift that Jesus extends to his disciples is peace. Upon entering the locked room where the disciples were gathered in fear, Jesus greets them with the words, "Peace be with you." This greeting is not merely a formality; it signifies a deep, abiding peace that transcends the immediate circumstances of fear and uncertainty that the disciples were experiencing. Rooted in the Truth of the Resurrection The peace that Jesus offers is deeply intertwined with the truth of his resurrection. After greeting the disciples, Jesus shows them his hands and side, demonstrating the reality of his suffering and the truth of his resurrection. This act serves to confirm everything he had previously taught them about his mission and the new world order he was establishing. Comfort and Joy The peace that Jesus offers is not just a passive state; it actively brings comfort and joy to his followers. When believers are in the presence of Christ, the primary emotions they should experience are peace and joy, rather than shame or fear. This transformative experience shifts their perspective from one of anxiety to one of hope and assurance. After offering peace, Jesus commissions the disciples, breathing the Holy Spirit into them and sending them out into the world. This commissioning is a call to share the gospel, which includes the message of forgiveness and the hope that comes from knowing Christ. Questions to Consider This Week: Who do you need to offer the peace of Christ to this week? To whom do you need to offer forgiveness? THIS WEEK'S RESOURCES:

This audio recording captures a church service led by Jim West, focusing on a detailed exposition of Genesis 2:4-14. The sermon centers on the creation of man and the Garden of Eden, addressing the common scholarly perspective that Genesis 2 presents a separate creation narrative from Genesis 1. Pastor West refutes this idea, arguing instead that Genesis 2 offers a more specific, personal account focusing on God's relationship with humanity, complementing the broader scope of Genesis 1. He highlights the significance of humans being formed from dust yet imbued with God's life-giving breath, emphasizing their dependence on God. Finally, the message explores the beauty and provision within the Garden of Eden as a reflection of God's love and a foreshadowing of the eternal home believers anticipate Support the showThanks for listening! In this insightful Spotlight episode, we explore the gentle yet profound world of Craniosacral Therapy (CST) and Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) techniques. Discover how these hands-on, non-invasive approaches tap into the body's natural rhythms of self-healing in different ways. We discuss the subtle power of craniosacral rhythms, the role of the "breath of life", and how practitioners facilitate deep, holistic healing with a practice that has evolved from the groundbreaking work of osteopath William Sutherland. Keith shares his personal exploration of craniosacral therapy, tracing its roots in cranial osteopathy and discussing how pioneers such as John Upledger and Franklyn Sills have shaped this hands-on somatic therapy. From the surface rhythms to the deeper layers of the body's innate breathing mechanism, you'll learn how practitioners can attune to these movements. We contrast the methodologies of Upledger's CST with Sills' BCST approach, each offering their own resolution strategies. Discover how the biodynamic model's metaphor of ocean tides reveals the deeper energetic layers of the breath of life. Keith shares his perception of these tidal layers in his own practice and how craniosacral work led him to study energy healing. He discusses his love of energy work for self-practice, personal growth and how it lends itself to profound philosophical inquiry. Whether you're curious about CST's benefits or the more energetic BCST approach, this episode offers a deep dive into these transformative practices, and creates a comprehensive map for understanding the potential of craniosacral therapy in fostering better health and holistic wellness.Liked what you heard? Send me a Text Message!Ezekiel's vision and prayer conversation in Ezekiel 37 is about as close as the Old Testament gets to Easter. How do we pray for more life? Perhaps it begins by understanding that resurrection is the work of a force outside of ourselves. I think we could all agree that in death I am helpless, out of control and unable to change my circumstances. I cannot resurrect myself. Ezekiel's prayer session begins and ends with the Words of God, but it's ending looks forward to Easter's beginning, as God says, "I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live... Then you shall know that I am the Lord."God says I will do it and when I do it, you will know that I am God. If you are in a dry bones season, this prayer is for you!
