She has an MSc in Communications, an MSc in Psychology, and an MSc in Sports and Exercise Psychology. She also has a PhD in Political Communications.She is a Chartered member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and a member of the Association of Applied Sports Psychologists (AASP). She is registered with the Health Care Professions Council. Alexandra André grew up on the family farm in South Australia. Having developed a love of running from an early age she got a taste of what's possible when she completed her first marathon in 2008. After years of injuries that followed, she continued to chase a second marathon, but Alex chose to take on an even greater challenge in 2015 - the toughest one-day sporting event in the world, IRONMAN Melbourne: 3.8 km swim, 180 km ride, 42.195 km run. This became bigger than she first imagined, a dedication to her good friend Mads, support from an amazing cheer squad, a life-changing moment, and now a book to inspire us all of through her awesome journey. Since then, Alexandra has run a further four marathons and launched her own business. Her purpose is to 'inspire possibility' and she works with individuals and businesses to do just that. For someone used to swimming in a 20 metre London gym pool this was way out of her comfort zone. She heard the commentator mention the waves. He said “you can't control the conditions. What you can control is the way you choose to react to them.” A light bulb moment. She realized it was her choice if she was scared or not and had to choose not to be. This was an invaluable way to understand the pressures on athletes, the support they get and the machinery of the elite UK Olympic and Paralympic systems. Sport at this level is no longer a fun hobby. Stacey De Bono grew up in country Victoria and, by her own admission, hated riding bikes as a kid and used to wag the school cross country carnival. Fast forward a few years and she discovered triathlon quite by accident. A friend convinced her to sign up for a race. She did, but without checking the details and couldn’t work out why the race was so expensive. It turns out the first triathlon she signed up for was Ironman Melbourne, just 10 months later. A few years (and several triathlon seasons) later, a broken finger from a bike accident forced Stacey to step back from her training and work. This gave her time to reflect on her lifestyle, her health and her goals - and it was during this difficult period she heard about Epic 5, an iconic race consisting of 5 Ironman-distance triathlons over 5 days on 5 different Hawaiian islands. The seed was planted, Stacey eventually voiced the idea out loud to her coach and the goal was set to participate in Epic 5 in 2020, some 3 years later. That race date has been pushed back to 2021, meaning she will have been working towards this race for 4 years by the time she stands on the start line. What is unique about Stacey’s approach to Epic 5 is that she has decided not read or listen to anything about Epic 5 for the next 2 years until her race in 2020 (which is the complete opposite to what most of us do!). Josie is a chartered psychologist working with those in sport and on the stage to help them overcome their barriers to success so they can achieve their goals. Josie has a background in communications and behaviour change having worked for many years in journalism, marketing, public relations and crisis communications across private corporations and government. With a long background in communications Josie first started learning about performance psychology after competing in Ironman Melbourne in 2013. In what turned out to be a lightbulb moment at the start of the race, Josie experienced the power of the mind in sport, and it subsequently became the fastest Ironman she’s raced. Today Pete and I catch up and discuss my Ironman comeback. My last Ironman race was back in Kona in 2009. I attempted Ironman Melbourne in 2013 and I believe that was the day when I switched my celiac gene on and maybe my prior pre race dinner of pizza and beer pushed me over the edge. That day my stomach and diaphragm shut down before exiting the shortened swim (due to adverse conditions) and my day was done 90km into the bike. That led to a roller coaster of a year that ended up with adrenal dysfunction. Ironman Canada wasn't without it's challenges and race day mishaps but I'm happy to be back racing, health and resilient. Looking forward to more racing.   In today’s episode, we discuss: The 3 F’s

Welcome to Episode 8. This week I sat down (via Skype) with a guy that has an amazing story from overweight, binge drinker and lacking any sort of motivation to an Ironman Finisher inspiring others to achieve whatever dream they have. Anything is possible. I first met Andrew when he drove down to the Gold Coast to meet for a coffee and have a chat about his aspirations to do Ironman Melbourne this year. We dive deep into his race and the amazing outcome he had and his experience in Melbourne is a direct reflection of the guy he his. Goal driven, motivated and I'm sure he wouldn't mind me saying this.......a little bit mad!! He overcame what many would not even consider being in hospital literally 5 hours before his race was due to commence. Andrew's story is one that many people including myself can relate to and his hope is that one person will have a listen and decide to make a change in their lives for the better!
