Backpack Matt returns! Don't consider this a reunion episode, but more so a discovery episode. Geronimo has been back in DC for a month and we know you've got questions about why he spent the last year in New Orleans and what happened while he was there. Full Service Radio's Jack Inslee talks with Geronimo about how New Orleans changed him for the better, but not before we hear how music producer aspirations in 1994 got him started on this lifestyle media path + how Geronimo and Matt connected two years ago. We've been recording The All the Fly Kids Show at Full Service Radio since December 2017 and we've had a variety of guests and conversations. You'll often hear us shout out the founder of the network, Jack Inslee, who also is responsible for all our sound effects (queue soca horn). Today, he'll be a guest because his resume extends far beyond running a podcast network inside the lobby of The LINE Hotel. We talk about his work as a DJ + Producer, learning the ropes of internet radio at Brooklyn's Heritage Radio, the over-a-decade old Full Service Party, and how he's settled into DC. #NecessaryListening Hear all the Full Service Radio Shows at www.fullserviceradio.org Follow Full Service Radio on Social Media: Twitter - www.twitter.com/FullServiceRDO Instagram - www.instagram.com/fullserviceradio Facebook - www.facebook.com/fullserviceradio Follow Jack: Twitter - www.twitter.com/jackinslee Instagram - www.instagram.com/jackinslee All The Fly Kids Links: Website - www.alltheflykids.com Twitter - www.twitter.com/AllTheFlyKids Instagram - www.instagram.com/alltheflykids Facebook - www.facebook.com/alltheflykids SoundCloud - bit.ly/2q4sjQR Apple Podcasts - apple.co/2DNSEJ2 Google Play - bit.ly/2DLCL5M Stitcher - bit.ly/2zrT1ps Simplecast - www.alltheflykids.simplecast.fm The All the Fly Kids Show is where the cool, calm and connected talk straight – No chaser. One of the great chroniclers of American chefs and food was lost a year ago, when Josh Ozersky died suddenly at the age of 47. We remember Josh with some of his friends and colleagues including writer and former Mr. Cutlets cohost Stefanie Cohen; Heritage Radio Network's executive producer Jack Inslee; his collaborator in the early days of New York Magazine's Grub Street blog, Daniel Maurer; chef Harold Moore; owner of his longtime favorite watering hole The Boxcar Lounge, Johnny Spingola; and writer Nick Solares. And we check in with Josh's wife Danit Lidor from Portland, Oregon, where he spent the last six months of his life.
We're keeping it in the family this week on The Main Course as solo host Phillip Gilmour welcomes Heritage Radio Network's Executive Producer Jack Inslee as well as musician Odetta Hartman. Jack chats with Phil about Heritage Radio Network's inception and how he became an integral part of the station, plus shares some of his favorite radio moments. As conversation evolves, Phil tells an interesting true tale about the legend, Frank Sinatra before Jack and Odetta share their backgrounds. Notably, Odetta is a native New Yorker whose family is responsible for staple restaurants The Great Jones Cafe as well as Two Boots, and spends her time playing music plus teaching at the Lower Eastside Girls Club. Taking a break to the tune of Odetta's brand new album “222” on the brink of official release, the show returns with a talk about concert bucket lists, crazy factoids about Odetta's fam, and Phil's favorite night at Momo Sushi Shack. This program was brought to you by Roberta's Pizza. “Odetta and I for the past year have been working on an album together. I produced her album, all her songs, this is the first project where she's done everything herself… This project is called “222” – she plays everything so from violin to banjo to guitar to sound effects!” [22:22] —Jack Inslee on The Main Course “I teach classes three times a week, teaching girls how to make beats, how to do interviews, podcasts, sound effects, and it's really cool.” [18:33 —Odetta Hartman on The Main Course —

This program has been brought to you by Whole Foods. Music by BROTHERS NYC. “I'm gunning for a better food system. I'm hoping for something between the two extremes- something less industrialized, but not something that most of the food movement are looking towards. I don't think we can feed the world with a few city blocks of urban gardens.” [24:30] — Katy Keiffer on The Main Course
Welcome to another installment of The Main Course, hosted by Patrick Martins. On this week's episode, Patrick is talking about some of the new changes at Heritage Foods USA, including the new membership program, and some shipping discount offers. Patrick plays one of Jack Inslee's post-produced pieces from Dave Arnold's Cooking Issues about MSG and the common misconceptions surrounding its healthiness. Later, Patrick interviews Kathleen Heitz Myers of Heitz Cellar in Napa Valley, California. Patrick and Kathleen talk about the logistics running a small, family-operated artisan business. Also, tune in to hear discussions regarding the harvesting of wine grapes, as well as the terroir of the Napa Valley that make it one of the best places in the world to produce wine. This episode has been brought to you by White Oak Pastures. “Sometimes when you're growing a company the idea is to get to a certain size and sell it. That's not our goal, our goal is eventually to pass it on to another generation.” “We don't release our Cabernet until it's 5th year, so there's a lot of capital held up in the mean time.” “What makes the Napa Valley such a great region is the Mediterranean climate, what makes it so special to me is the sense of community. We're all trying to achieve the same thing – 95% of the Napa Valley wineries are family owned.” — Kathleen Heitz Myers on The Main Course
